Bash can't start a programme that's there and has all the right permissions

This is a gentoo server. There's a programme prog that can't execute. About the server FTR the server is a xen domU, and the programme is a closed source linux application. This VM is a copy of another VM that has the same root filesystem (including this programme), that works fine. I've tried all the above as root and same problem. Did I mention the root filesystem is mounted over NFS. However it's mounted 'defaults,nosuid', which should include execute. ECHO ............................................... @ECHO ...........Deployment Compelted................ @ECHO ...........Deployment Compelted................>> %Envlog% %Date% %Time% ECHO ............................................... here are my issues: Lets say I am running code for 3 servers, then for each instance: For all three servers I am performing destination folder delete even so destination folder is always the same, the code should only delete it in the 1st instance (when code is deployed to first server) then I would prefer if script would check if the code from the source and destination is the same and if it is it should delete the folder or not. Then based on 1: a) deleting web.config and renaming should only happen if code in destination is new b) Robocopy should not override files if they are the same I think there is /Xo option to do that any idea how to achieve that? :)

Why does Gnumake from parent directory behave differently?

I am stumped as to why when I do a gnumake from the parent directory it behaves incorrectly, whereas, if I cd to the subdirectory and do gnumake it works correctly. In the parent makefile, I have a rule like this: .PHONY: zlib-1.2.5 zlib-1.2.5: @ echo Issuing $(MAKE) in $@ ... pushd zlib-1.2.5; make; popd Which gives different result than doing the same from the toplevel pushd zlib-1.2.5; make; popd There is a something from the parent makefile that is making its way into the subdirectory makefile and causing it to behave incorrectly, but I don't know how to find it.
