    I want the users to type their text in the given textbox and on clicking on createNewFile Button, a SaveAs Dialogbox should popup and the users should browse through the location and save the file as desired.   • StreamReader.EndOfStream produces IOException

    I'm working on an application that accepts TCP connections and reads in data until an </File> marker is read and then writes that data to the filesystem. I don't want to disconnect, I want to let the client sending the data to do that so they can send multiple files in one connection. I'm using the StreamReader.EndOfStream around my outter loop, but it throws an IOException when the client disconnects.   • Getting rid of nested using(...) statements

    Sometimes I need to use several disposable objects within a function. Most common case is having StreamReader and StreamWriter but sometimes it's even more than this. Nested using statements quickly add up and look ugly. To remedy this I've created a small class that collects IDisposable objects and disposes of them when it itself is disposed. public class MultiDispose : HashSet<IDisposable>, IDisposable { public MultiDispose(params IDisposable[] objectsToDispose) { foreach (IDisposable d in objectsToDispose) { this.Add(d); } } public T Add<T>(T obj) where T : IDisposable { base.Add(obj); return obj; } public void DisposeObject(IDisposable obj) { obj.Dispose(); base.Remove(obj); } #region IDisposable Members public void Dispose() { foreach (IDisposable d in this) { d.Dispose(); } } #endregion } So my code now looks like this: using (MultiDispose md = new MultiDispose()) { StreamReader rdr = md.Add(new StreamReader(args[0])); StreamWriter wrt = md.Add(new StreamWriter(args[1])); WhateverElseNeedsDisposing w = md.Add(new WhateverElseNeedsDisposing()); // code } Is there anything wrong with this approach that can cause problems down the road? I left the Remove function inherited from the HashSet on purpose so that the class would be more flexible. Surely misusing this function can lead to objects not being disposed of properly, but then there many other ways to shoot yourself in the foot without this class.

  • ASP.net FFMPEG video conversion receiving error: "Error number -2 occurred"

    Hello, I am attempting to integrate FFMPEG into my asp.net website. The process I am trying to complete is to upload a video, check if it is .avi, .mov, or .wmv and then convert this video into an mp4 using x264 so my flash player can play it. I am using an http handler (ashx) file to handle my upload. This is where I am also putting my conversion code. I am not sure if this is the best place to put it, but I wanted to see if i could at least get it working. Additionally, I was able to complete the conversion manually through cmd line. The error -2 comes up when i output the standard error from the process I executed.   • Automatically create bug resolution task using the TFS 2010 API

    My customer requires bug resolution to be approved and tracked.  To minimize the overhead for developers I implemented a TFS 2010 server-side plug-in to automatically create a child resolution task for the bug when the “CCB” field is set to approved. The CCB field is a custom field.  I also added the story points field to the bug WIT for sizing purposes. Redundant tasks will not be created unless the bug title is changed or the prior task is closed. The program writes an audit trail to a log file visible in the TFS Admin Console Log view.     How would I go about writing my own stream manipulator class? Basically what I'm trying to wrap my head around is storing the reference to the underlying stream in the writer. For example, when writing to a memory stream using a StreamWriter, when a Write() is made, the underlying memory stream is written to. Can I store the reference to an underlying stream without using pointers or unsafe code? Even if it was just a string I wanted to "write" to. Really this has little to do with stream writers, and I'm just wondering how I could store references in a class. The StreamWriter was the best example I could come up with for this.

    Hi, i have the next code written in C#....it create a tex file using utf-8.....the problem is that appears that is not a real valid utf-8 file because, when i use pdflatex it doesn't recognize the characters with accents. Somebody knows a way to write a real UTF-8 file? When i use TexmakerX to create a utf8 file with the same latex code, pdflatex doesn't complaints, so the problem must be in the generation.     I am trying to create a new file and write XML to it: FileStream output = File.Create(Path.Combine(PATH_TO_DATA_DIR, fileName)); The argument evaluates to: C:\path\to\Data\test.xml The exception is: The process cannot access the file 'C:\path\to\Data\test.xml' because it is being used by another process. What am I doing wrong here? UPDATE: This code throws the same exception: StreamWriter writer = new StreamWriter(Path.Combine(PATH_TO_DATA_DIR, fileName)); UPDATE 2: The file I am trying to create does not exist in the file system. So how can be it in use?

I'm able to launch the app in firefox and able to see that the session data is not lost. I use Response.Redirect(page2, false) to redirect to another page. During runtime, I have to retrieve this XLSX file from the assembly.
