    I'd like to make an application that removes duplicates from my wpl (Windows PlayList) files.   • MySQL LEFT JOIN, INNER JOIN etc, complicated query, PHP + MySQL for a forum

    So I've got a little forum I'm trying to get data for, there are 4 tables, forum, forum_posts, forum_threads and users. What i'm trying to do is to get the latest post for each forum and giving the user a sneak peek of that post, i want to get the number of posts and number of threads in each forum aswell. Also, i want to do this in one query. My question is: is there some somewhat easy way to make it show the correct number and at the same time fetch the correct post info (the latest one that is)? If something is unclear please tell and i'll try to explain my issue further, it's my first time posting something here.

The initial program had only MPI and I tried to insert openMP in the matrix multiplication method, in order to improve the time of computation: (This program runs in a cluster and computers have 2 cores, thus I created 2 threads.) The problem is that there is no difference of time, with and without openMP. I observed that using openMP sometimes, time is equivalent or greater than the time without openMP.     i have a table with the columns such id, tid, companyid, ttype etc.. the id may be same for many companyid but unique within the companyid and tid is always unique and i want to calculate the total no of transactions entered in the table, a single transaction may be inserted in more than one row, for example, id tid companyid ttype 1 1 1 xxx 1 2 1 may be null 2 3 1 yyy 2 4 1 may be null 2 5 1 may be null the above entries should be counted as only 2 transactions .. it may be repeated for many companyids.. so how do i calculate the total no of transactions entered in the table i tried select sum(count(*)) from transaction group by id,companyId; but doesn't work select count(*) from transaction group by id; wont work because the id may be repeated for different companyids.

I don't want this behavior - I want pages accessed as /forum/forum/* to return a 404. Any hint on where I had been wrong?

    I have used following grep search pattern on multiple platforms: grep -r -I -D skip 'string_to_match' / For example on FreeBSD 8.0, FreeBSD 6.4 and Debian 6.0(squeeze). Command does a recursive search starting from root directory, assumes that binary files do not have the 'string_to_match' and skips devices, sockets and named pipes. FreeBSD 8.0 and FreeBSD 6.4 use GNU grep version 2.5.1 and Debian 6.0 uses GNU grep version 2.6.3. On FreeBSD 6.4, last information printed to stderr was "grep: /dev/cuad0: Device busy". After this grep just idles as according to "top -m io -o total" the I/O usage of grep is nonexistent. Same behavior is true under FreeBSD 8.0, but last information sent to stderr is "grep: /tmp/.wine-0: Permission denied" on my installation. In case of Debian, last output to stderr is "grep: /proc/sysrq-trigger: Input/output error".   • Using Oracle Linux iSCSI targets with Oracle VM

    A few days ago I had written a blog entry on how to use Oracle Solaris 10 (in my case), ZFS and the iSCSI target feature in Oracle Solaris to create a set of devices exported to my Oracle VM server. Oracle Linux can do this as well and I wanted to make sure I also tried out how to do this on Oracle Linux and here are the results. When you install Oracle Linux 5 update 5 (anything newer than update 3), it comes with an rpm called scsi-target-utils. To begin your quest, should you choose to accept it :) make sure this is installed. rpm -qa |grep scsi-target If it is not installed : up2date scsi-target-utils The target utils come with a tool tgtadm which is similar to iscsitadm on Oracle Solaris. There are 2 components again on the iSCSI server side. (1) create volumes - we will use lvm with lvcreate (2) expose a target using tgtadm. My server has a simple setup. All the disks are part of a single volume group called vgroot. To export a 50Gb volume I just create a new volume : lvcreate -L 50G -nmytest1 vgroot This will show up as a new volume in /dev/mapper as /dev/mapper/vgroot-mytest1. Create as many as you want for your environment. Since I already have my blog entry about the 5 volumes, I am not going to repeat the whole thing. You can just go look at the previous blog entry. Now that we have created the volume, we need to use tgtadm to set it up : make sure the service is running : /etc/init.d/tgtd start or service tgtd start (if you want to keep it running you can do chkconfig tgtd on to start it automatically at boottime) Next you need a targetname to set everything up. My recommendation would be to install iscsi-initiator-utils . This will create an iscsi id and put it in /etc/iscsi/initiatorname.iscsi. For convenience you can do : source /etc/iscsi/initiatorname.iscsi echo $InitiatorName and from here on use $InitiatorName instead of the long complex iqn. create your target : tgtadm --lld iscsi --op new --mode target --tid 1 -T $InitiatorName to show the status : tgtadm --lld iscsi --op show --mode target add the volume previously created : tgtadm --lld iscsi --op new --mode logicalunit --tid 1 --lun 1 -b /dev/mapper/vgroot-mytest1 re-run status to see it's there : tgtadm --lld iscsi --op show --mode target and just like on Oracle Solaris you now have to export (bind) it : tgtadm --lld iscsi --op bind --mode target --tid 1 -I iqn.1986-03.com.sun:01:2a7526f0ffff If you want to export the lun to every iscsi initiator then replace the iqn with ALL. Of course you have to add the iqn of each iscsi initiator or client you want to connect. In the case of my 2 node Oracle VM server setup, both Oracle VM server's initiator names would have to be added. use status again to see that it has this iqn under ACL tgtadm --lld iscsi --op show --mode target You can drop the --lld iscsi if you want, or alias it.     Dear Netizens, I apologize for my long absense...its amazing how time just slips through your fingers when you don't have anything to say...and are so busy personally and professionally that all of a sudden its over a year and you've not touched your blog...   Plus the immediacy of that 140 character twitter feed makes it so that my blog stuff becomes tid bits of life..instead of a narrative. When did that happen? When did we become a society of 140 character tid bits instead of emails or narative blocks. Are we so keyed into micro-commentary these days that we don't have conversations anymore?  When did posts on Twitter become news on CNN? But anyway, Netizens I'd like to come back to this narrative..I have some interesting professional developments to share with the world too. So--I hope this continues, and I post more along the way.  I can't promise that though, I'm a terrible procrastinator...so who knows. But I'll try..so stick around..maybe I'll have some more profound things to say then complaints about traffic on my commute etc.

  • SCCM 2012 unable to update boot images with pxe enabled

    we are fighting an error in sccm 2012. When we attempt to distribute boot images (after selecting the pxe option) we receive an error that the pxe image cannot be expanded (distmgr log). Can you give us any direction on what to try or attempt in this scenario? We only have one dp in our environment at the moment, however we have found that by creating another dp on a different server we don’t have this problem. However we really need the primary site to be a dp. We have tried: Removing and reinstalling the dp Removing and reinstalling the WDS Reinstalled the OS ... ouch Reinstalled SQL We even attempted to manually mount these wims in the remote install folder, no luck...   • Drupal Views Duplicate values being returned when using a relationship

    I am having a problem with views. I have a view and am passing it a taxonomy term by name to it. I then have a relationship to a related node. For my output fields I am returning the related Title and related Body. I however have duplicates in my results. I have turned distinct to yes but believe this is working on the nodes being return and not the related node. Any ideas how I can remove the duplicates? Update Below is the query being run when I only get the title SELECT DISTINCT(node.nid) AS nid, node_node_data_field_wine_company.title AS node_node_data_field_wine_company_title, node_node_data_field_wine_company.nid AS node_node_data_field_wine_company_nid FROM node node LEFT JOIN content_type_wine node_data_field_wine_company ON node.vid = node_data_field_wine_company.vid INNER JOIN node node_node_data_field_wine_company ON node_data_field_wine_company.field_wine_company_nid = node_node_data_field_wine_company.nid LEFT JOIN term_node term_node ON node.vid = term_node.vid INNER JOIN term_data term_data ON term_node.tid = term_data.tid WHERE term_data.name = 'test' GROUP BY nid It looks like I should be grouping by node_node_data_field_wine_company_nid or selecting distinct values from there.   • Mysql Sub Select Query Optimization

    I'm running a query daily to compile stats - but it seems really inefficient. This is the Query: SELECT a.id, tstamp, label_id, (SELECT author_id FROM b WHERE b.tid = a.id ORDER BY b.tstamp DESC LIMIT 1) AS author_id FROM a, b WHERE (status = '2' OR status = '3') AND category != 6 AND a.id = b.tid AND (b.type = 'C' OR b.type = 'R') AND a.tstamp1 BETWEEN {$timestamp_start} AND {$timestamp_end} ORDER BY b.tstamp DESC LIMIT 500 This query seems to run really slow. Apologies for the crap naming - I've been asked to not reveal the actual table names. The reason there is a sub select is because the outer select gets one row from the table a and it gets a row from table b. But also need to know the latest author_id from table b as well, so I run a subselect to return that one. I don't want to run another select inside a php loop - as that is also inefficient. It works correctly - I just need to find a much faster way of getting this data set.

    Ok, so this is probably a silly question, but i thought i'd put it out there anyway: I know it's a strange solution to a simple problem, but i needed to control the listing of the nodes in the taxonomy pages, which i didn't feel i got the traditional way. So i went ahead and created a module that fetches the nodes based on taxonomy (taxonomy_select_nodes()), and i wanted a pager to go along with that.     Values are received through a jQuery AJAX callback, but I've been unsuccessful getting at the values. Here's the ajax call: $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "ajax/ax_all_ajax_fns.php", data: 'request=edit_timecard_entry&staff_id='+staff_id+'&tid='+tid, success: function(data){ alert(data); } } Here's the code sent out by ax_all_ajax_fns.php: $staff_id = $_POST['staff_id']; $t_id = $_POST['tid']; $rCard = mysql_query("SELECT `staff_id`, `date`, `project_id`, `project_num`, `task_desc`, `hours` FROM `timecards` WHERE `t_id`='$t_id'"); $aCard = mysql_fetch_assoc($rCard); print_r($aCard); // echo $aCard; Of course, I don't want the information print_r'd, I want it echoed. The print_r was used to demonstrate that the correct data was sent out by the PHP script, and it is echoed successfully in the alert() box in the success function. So the correct data is being returned, and (if correctly formatted) it is viewable. The data returned in this way looks like this in the alert() popup: Array ( [staff_id] => 51 [date] => 2012-10-18 [project_id] => 0 [project_num => 49 [task_desk] => This is a task [hours] => 3.30 ) But when I use echo to output the $aCard array and then try to break it down inside the success function of the ajax call, I can't figure out how to get at the values. My attempts have consistently returned values of "undefined". In the success function, in place of alert(data);, I've tried this: var tce_staff_id = data['staff_id']; alert(tce_staff_id); and this: var tce_staff_id = data.staff_id; alert(tce_staff_id); What am I missing? UPDATE: Thanks to Martin S. for information re json_encode() PHP instruction. I've modified the ajax script as follows: echo json_encode($aCard); I now get THIS result from alert(data); in the success function: {"staff_id":"51","date":"2012-10-18","project_id":"0","project_num":"49","task_desc":"This is a task","hours":"3.30"} However, the following returns "undefined": alert(data.staff_id); alert(data[0].staff_id); var test = data.staff_id; alert(test); Can anyone see what I'm missing? All above code comes immediately after alert(data) inside the success callback of the ajax function. alert(data) DOES work and displays the desired data, as above.
