  • Configure APE-Server on Ubuntu10.10 webserver

    - by sadmicrowave
I'm having problems configuring my ape-server. First, I reside behind a corporate firewall where our own DNS servers are maintained. I requested a domain name for my server and was provided uslonsweb003.us.mycompany.com from my IT group. Therefore, my website works and can be accessed via (intranet only) at http://uslonsweb003.us.mycompany.com/test.php. I followed the instructions at ape-project.org and run the Check Tool at the end only to find I get an error stating: Running test : Contacting APE Server (adding frequency) Can't contact APE Server. Please check the folowing url is pointing to your APE server : http://0.uslonsweb003.us.mycompany.com:6969 my /etc/apache2/apache2.conf module looks as follows: <VirtualHost *:80> Servername uslonsweb003.us.mycompany.com ServerAlias ape.uslonsweb003.us.mycompany.com ServerAlias *.ape.uslonsweb003.us.mycompany.com DocumentRoot "/var/www/" </VirtualHost> my /var/www/ape-jsf/Demos/config.js config section looks as follows: APE.Config.baseUrl = 'http://uslonsweb003.us.mycompany.com/ape-jsf'; APE.Config.domain = 'uslonsweb003.us.mycompany.com'; APE.Config.server = 'uslonsweb003.us.mycompany.com:6969'; The instructions at ape-project.org tell me that the APE.Config.server should be `ape.mydomain.com:6969'; but that does not work (I'm assuming because my corporate DNS does not understand the 'ape' before the domain name since 'ape' was not registered with the IT DNS). So therefore, I changed it to what you see above. Please help!! Thanks in advance UPDATE 1 per the installation instructions located on this page http://www.ape-project.org/wiki/index.php/Advanced_APE_configuration under 'Configure your Server/Computer' (I'm running it on a server obviously) It says I need to add some lines to my DNS config file. It sounds like (since I'm within a corporate network) I would ask my IT group to add the following lines to the DNS configuration file on their end: ape IN A x.x.x.x ; IP address of my APE server *.ape IN CNAME ape I just want to make sure this is all I have to have them add (or if this is even correct) before I ask them.

  • SQL Contest – Win 10 Amazon Gift Cards worth (USD 200) and 10 NuoDB T-Shirts

    - by Pinal Dave
This month, we have yet not run any contest so we will be running a very interesting contest with the help of good guys at NuoDB. NuoDB has just released version 2.0 and You can download NuoDB from here. NuoDB’s NewSQL distributed database is designed to be a single database that works across multiple servers, which can scale easily, and scale on demand. That’s one system that gives high connectivity but no latency, complexity or maintenance issues. MySQL works in some circumstances, but a period of growth isn’t one of them. So as a company moves forward, the MySQL database can’t keep pace. Data storage and data replication errors creep in. Soon the diaspora of the offices becomes a problem. Your telephone system isn’t just distributed, it is literally all over the place. You can read my detailed article about how Why VoIP Service Providers Should Think About NuoDB’s Geo Distribution. Here is the contest: Contest Part 1: NuoDB R2.0 delivered a long list of improvements and new features. List three of the major features of NuoDB 2.0. Here is the hint1, hint2, hint3. Contest Part 2: Download NuoDB using this link. Once you download NuoDB, leave a comment over here with the name of the platform and installer size. (For example Windows Platform Size abc.dd MB) Here is the what you can win! Giveaways 10 Amazon Gift Card (Each of USD 20 – total USD 200) 10 Amazingly looking NuoDB T-Shirts (For the first 10 downloads) Rules Participate before Oct 28, 2013. All the valid answers will be published after Oct 28, 2013 and winners will receive an email on Nov 1st, 2013. • PC hangs and reboots from time to time

    - by Bevor
Hello, I have a very strange problem: Since I have my new PC, I have always had problems with it. From time to time the computer freezes for some seconds and suddendly reboots by itself. I've had this problem since Ubuntu 9.10. The same with 10.04 and 10.10. That's why I don't think it's a software failure because the problem persist too long. It doesn't have anything to do with what I'm doing at this time. Sometimes I listen to music, sometimes I only use Firefox, sometimes I'm running 2 or 3 VMs, sometimes I watch DVD. So it's not isolatable. I could freeze once a day or once a week. I put the PC to the vendor twice(!). The first time they changed my power supply but the problem persisted. The second time they told me that they made some heavy performance tests 50 hours long but they didn't find anything. (How can that be that I have daily freezes with normal usage). The vendor didn't check the hard discs because they used their own disc with Windows. (So they never checked the Linux installation). Yesterday I made some intensive hard disc scans with "SMART" but no errors were found. I ran memtest for 3 times but no errors found. I already had this problem in my old flat, so I doubt that I has something to do with current fluctuation. I already tried another electrical socket and changed to connector strip but the problem persists. At the moment I removed 2 of the RAMs (2x 2GB). In all I have 6GB, 2x2GB and 2x1GB. Could this difference maybe be a problem? Here is a list of my components. I hope that anybody find something I didn't think about yet. • Windows Server 2012 and Ubuntu 12.04.1 under Hyper-V

    - by Technicolour
I've set up an instance of Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS under Hyper-V 2012. However it seems to be nondeterministic as to whether or not it completes the boot process. I get a Kernel Panic, "IO-APIC + timer doesn't work!", which from my research is caused by not having integration services correctly installed? It was my understanding that the integration services were all now baked into the kernel? It should then be fine to update the OS (including any kernel updates, as I'm guessing that's what has happened) Being able to rely on this successfully booting would be great as I intend on using ssh for crisis situations.

[Editor:  This guest article has been contributed by Anne Carlson]Premier Support for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i ends in November 2010.  At Oracle OpenWorld last fall, it was standing room only at several EBS upgrade sessions.  Responding to the increased interest in upgrades, I set to work on a new Release 12.1 version of our popular whitepaper, Best Practices for Adopting E-Business Suite, Release 12 (Note 580299.1). Here is that new whitepaper, which features the latest Release 12.1 upgrade planning advice from Oracle's Support, Consulting, Development and IT organizations:Planning Your E-Business Suite Upgrade from 11i to Release 12.1 (Note 987516.1)The paper is directed at IT professionals who are planning, managing, or running a Release 12.1 upgrade project.  After briefly reviewing the Release 12.1 value proposition, the paper launches into specific upgrade planning tips to help you:

  • Choosing the Right JDeveloper Release for Your EBS Environment

    - by Sara Woodhull
Oracle E-Business Suite developers use a special build of Oracle JDeveloper. This build contains the correct Oracle Application Framework (OA Framework or OAF) libraries corresponding to a specific version of Oracle E-Business Suite (specifically, to an ATG patch level). For customers and developers who are building OA Framework components and extensions to Oracle E-Business Suite, one of the first questions is "How do I find the right version of JDeveloper?"Oracle makes these OA Framework/JDeveloper builds available in separate patches when a new ATG patch level is released.   A handy My Oracle Support Document shows the ATG patch levels and the corresponding patch containing the correct version of JDeveloper with the right versions of OA Framework libraries:How to find the correct version of JDeveloper to use with eBusiness Suite 11i or Release 12.x (Doc ID 416708.1)

  • Warning: E-Business Suite Issues with Sun JRE 1.6.0_18

    - by Steven Chan
Users need a Java client to run the Forms-based content in Oracle E-Business Suite.  With Oracle JInitiator 1.3 out of Premier Support as of July 2009, Apps users must run the native Sun Java Runtime Engine (JRE) to access this content. In early 2008 we relaxed our certification and support policy for the use of the native Sun JRE clients with the E-Business Suite. The policy reflected a switch from certifying specific JRE versions for the E-Business Suite to specifying minimum versions, instead. This permits E-Business Suite users to run any JRE release above following minimum certified levels, even later ones that Oracle hasn't explicitly tested with the E-Business Suite: JRE 1.5.0_13 and higherJRE 1.6.0_03 and higherUnder our current policy, Oracle E-Business Suite end-users can upgrade their JRE clients whenever Sun releases a new JRE release on either the 1.5 or 1.6 versions. EBS users do not need to wait for Oracle to certify new JRE 1.5 or 1.6 plug-in updates with the E-Business Suite.Known E-Business Suite Issues with JRE 1.6.0_18We test every new JRE release with both E-Business Suite 11i and 12.  We have identified a number of issues with JRE 1.6.0_18.  If you haven't already upgraded your end-users to JRE 1.6.0_18, we recommend that you to keep them on a prior JRE release such as 1.6.0_17 (6u17).

  • Interim Update #1: Microsoft Office 2010 and E-Business Suite

    - by Steven Chan
Congratulations to my colleagues at Microsoft on their launch of Microsoft Office 2010 yesterday.  Questions about our certification plans for Office 2010 are filling my inbox, so here's an interim update on our plans.  If you've reached this article via a search engine, it's possible that a later update on our status is available.  For our latest status, please check the Desktop Client Certifications section of our one-page Certifications summary. Our current plans for Office 2010We plan to certify Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i and 12 with Microsoft Office 2010.When will Office 2010 be certified with EBS?Oracle's Revenue Recognition rules prohibit us from discussing certification and release dates, but you're welcome to monitor or subscribe to this blog for updates, which I'll post as soon as soon as they're available.    How does the E-Business Suite work with Microsoft Office? The Oracle E-Business Suite is comprised of several product families such as Financials, Supply Chain Management, Human Resources, and so on.  These product families group together collections of individual products.  Some of these products may be optionally integrated with one or more Microsoft Office components such as Excel, Word, and Projects.Individual E-Business Suite product teams have the option of building integrations between their products and one or more Microsoft Office components.  This is not mandatory.  Over forty E-Business Suite teams offer these kinds of Office integrations today.

  • IPvsadm not equally balancing on wlc scheduler

    - by davidsmalley
For some reason, ipvsadm does not seem to be equally balancing the connections between my real servers when using the wlc or lc schedulers. One real server gets absolutely hammered with requests while the others receive relatively few connections. My ldirectord.cf file looks like this: quiescent = yes autoreload = yes checktimeout = 10 checkinterval = 10 # *.site.com http virtual = 111.111.111.111:http real = 10.10.10.1:http ipip 10 real = 10.10.10.2:http ipip 10 real = 10.10.10.3:http ipip 10 real = 10.10.10.4:http ipip 10 real = 10.10.10.5:http ipip 10 scheduler = lc protocol = tcp service = http checktype = negotiate request = "/lb" receive = "Up and running" virtualhost = "site.com" fallback = 127.0.0.1:http The weird thing that I think may be causing the problem (but I'm really not sure) is that ipvsadm doesn't seem to be tracking active connections properly, they all appear as inactive connections IP Virtual Server version 1.2.1 (size=4096) Prot LocalAddress:Port Scheduler Flags -> RemoteAddress:Port Forward Weight ActiveConn InActConn TCP 111.111.111.111:http lc -> 10.10.10.1:http Tunnel 10 0 10 -> 10.10.10.2:http Tunnel 10 0 18 -> 10.10.10.3:http Tunnel 10 0 3 -> 10.10.10.4:http Tunnel 10 0 10 -> 10.10.10.5:http Tunnel 10 0 5 If I do ipvsadm -Lnc then I see lots of connections but only ever in ESTABLISHED & FIN_WAIT states. I was using ldirectord previously on a Gentoo based load balancer and the activeconn used to be accurate, since moving to Ubuntu 10.4 LTS something seems to be different. # ipvsadm -v ipvsadm v1.25 2008/5/15 (compiled with popt and IPVS v1.2.1) So, is ipvsadm not tracking active connections properly and thus making load balancing work incorrectly and if so, how do I get it to work properly again? Edit: It gets weirder, if I cat /proc/net/ip_vs then it looks like the correct activeconns are there IP Virtual Server version 1.2.1 (size=4096) Prot LocalAddress:Port Scheduler Flags -> RemoteAddress:Port Forward Weight ActiveConn InActConn TCP B86A9732:0050 rr -> 0AB42453:0050 Tunnel 10 1 24 -> 0AB4321D:0050 Tunnel 10 0 23 -> 0AB426B2:0050 Tunnel 10 2 25 -> 0AB4244C:0050 Tunnel 10 2 22 -> 0AB42024:0050 Tunnel 10 2 23

  • E-Business Suite Technology Stack Roadmap (April 2010) Now Available

    - by Steven Chan
Keeping up with our E-Business Suite technology stack roadmap can be challenging.  Regular readers of this blog know that we certify new combinations and versions of Oracle products with the E-Business Suite every few weeks.  We also update our certification plans and roadmap as new third-party products like Microsoft Office 2010 and Firefox are announced or released.  Complicating matters further, various Oracle products leave Premier Support or are superceded by more-recent versions. This constant state of change means that any static representation of our roadmap is really a snapshot in time, and a snapshot that might begin to yellow and fade fairly quickly.  With that caveat in mind, here's this month's snapshot that I presented at the OAUG/Collaborate 2010 conference in Las Vegas last week:EBS Technology Stack Roadmap (April 2010)

  • A Primer on Migrating Oracle Applications to a New Platform

    - by Nick Quarmby
In Support we field a lot of questions about the migration of Oracle Applications to different platforms.  This article describes the techniques available for migrating an Oracle Applications environment to a new platform and discusses some of the common questions that arise during migration.  This subject has been frequently discussed in previous blog articles but there still seems to be a gap regarding the type of questions we are frequently asked in Service Requests. Some of the questions we see are quite abstract. Customers simply want to get a grip on understanding how they approach a migration. Others want to know if a particular architecture is viable. Other customers ask about mixing different platforms within a single Oracle Applications environment.    Just to clarify, throughout this article, the term 'platform' refers specifically to operating systems and not to the underlying hardware. For a clear definition of 'platform' in the context of Oracle Applications Support then Terri's very timely article:Oracle E-Business Suite Platform SmörgåsbordThe migration process is very similar for both 11i and R12 so this article only mentions specific differences where relevant.

The actual task is that i think a lot of space is devoted to ubuntu 8, if there is no easy way to get rid of it, then i want to repartition the disk so that about 50 GB of hard disk space is given to ubuntu 10's home folder from the ubuntu 8's home folder. but i hope that there is an easy way to get rid of ubuntu 8 alrogether and just have ubuntu 10 on my system.
