  • Printing Work Items in TFS

    Hi, I am looking for a fancy way the print individual work items in TFS. OK ... maybe not the work item directly but I need to produce printable forms based on data on a work item. And by fancy I mean: header, footer, formatting, tables maybe ... stuff like that. No, I am not trying to print a list of work items, read carefully, I need an output based on a single work item. For those who are wondering "Why on earth do you need that?" I should say: We are keeping everything on TFS around here. (For now only software development stuff, but I am thinking bigger...) Sometimes somethings need to be on hard copy, to be signed for instance, and that is why I need printable forms.

  • problem with implementing a simple work queue

    Hi all, I am having troubles with implementing a simple work queue. Doing some analysis, I am facing a subtle problem. The work queue is backed by a regular linked list. The code looks like this (simplified): 0. while (true) 1. while (enabled == true) 2. acquire lock on the list and get the next action to be executed (blocking operation) (store it in a local variable) 3. execute the action (outside the lock on the list on previous line) 4. get lock on this work queue 5. wait until this work queue has been notified (triggered when setEnabled(true) has been callled) The setEnabled(e) operation looks like this (simplified): enabled = e if (enabled == true) acquire lock on this work queue and do notify() Although this works, there is a condition in which a deadlock occurs. It happens in the following rare situation: while an action is being executed, setEnabled(false) is called just before step (4) is entered, setEnabled(true) is called now step (5) keeps waiting forever, because this work queue has already been notified How do I solve this? I have been looking at this for some time, but I cannot come up with a solution. Please note I am fairly new to thread synchronization. Thanks a lot.

  • Acrobat keyboard stealing in Firefox

    There are times when I open a pdf in firefox(which uses the acrobat plugin) and the "pdf" steals control of the keyboard. The arrow keys do not work in other programs. Well, If I hold them down they will then work but it becomes hard to navigate that way. It seems acrobat installs a global keyboard hook in some cases and takes control of the keyboard. This didn't start happening until recently(a few months ago). Note that it doesn't happen on all pdfs and everything returns to normal when the pdf is closed. This seems to be an issue with acrobat... maybe a setting? Anyone have any ideas what is going on?

  • Can an Employer turn you down if you have said the fact about current work culture being bad [closed]

    I had recently an interview where I scored good in 1st two round of technical interview . Then in the 3rd round was the managerial round where the guy started about my experience and whether I have vaptured any requirement and handled and trained any teams. This went pretty well for around 50 mins . Then there was the awkward question , Interviewer: why amI looking for a change? Me: coz I want to explore my carrier options? Interviewer: But your current company is big enough and you can explore options over there? (This was supposedly the trap) Me: Apart from that I am missing the flexibilty of working with Us and Europe based company as my current company is not that flexible. Interviewer: What exactly you don't find flexible. Me: The login time . Even if you get late by 1sec you might have to explin. Though this is not a big problem , still I will prefer flexibilty as we are working really hard. Interviewer: Allright ( Then couple of more questions) , Hope to C U Ya , that's pretty much it . Now I called up HR and they say , they are yet to get the feedback from Interviewer. Did I screw it? I mean does some one really have to pretend always by saying positive things about company and manager though not saying negative things?

    I think I am stuck in the paralysis of analysis. Please help! I currently have a project that Uses NHibernate on SQLite Implements Repository and Unit of Work pattern: http://blogs.hibernatingrhinos.com/nhibernate/archive/2008/04/10/nhibernate-and-the-unit-of-work-pattern.aspx MVVM strategy in a WPF app Unit of Work implementation in my case supports one NHibernate session at a time. I thought at the time that this makes sense; it hides inner workings of NHibernate session from ViewModel. Now, according to Oren Eini (Ayende): http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ee819139.aspx He convinces the audience that NHibernate sessions should be created / disposed when the view associated with the presenter / viewmodel is disposed. He presents issues why you don't want one session per windows app, nor do you want a session to be created / disposed per transaction. This unfortunately poses a problem because my UI can easily have 10+ view/viewmodels present in an app. He is presenting using a MVP strategy, but does his advice translate to MVVM? Does this mean that I should scrap the unit of work and have viewmodel create NHibernate sessions directly? Should a WPF app only have one working session at a time? If that is true, when should I create / dispose a NHibernate session? And I still haven't considered how NHibernate Stateless sessions fit into all this! My brain is going to explode. Please help!

  • XAMPP localhost and 127.0.0.1 don't work but computer name does work

    I am running on a vista. Localhost and 127.0.0.1 do not work anymore but my computer name still works. Localhost and 127.0.0.1 only show a blank page however using my computer name can access xampp homepage as well as my server files. I am assuming there is something wrong with my hosts file but when i checked it looks fine: 127.0.0.1 localhost is the only thing in there that is not commented out, which seems right according to what I've seen on the web so far. I had a trojan recently that I got rid of so I believe that definitely has something to do with it. It was msa.exe among potentially others but I think I got rid of it with Malwarebytes. This is the only issue that is left. Thanks!

  • Image links work but show "broken image" in IE.

    I have a problem. I have made some image files for a menu. They work fine in Firefox, but IE (8, haven't tested with others) and Chrome show a broken image.. Image, on top. Even though the images work. The page is here: http://www.silkeborgmuseum.dk/udvikling/index.php This is a very old page of mine but I need to make it work. I have tried searching google and stackoverflow, but have not so far been able to find anyone else having this problem or what is causing it. Can anyone help? As a parting comment, I will say that I have only been developing websites for a few months, but wow, i already hate IE with a fiery passion.

  • How do I stop VLC from stealing my volume buttons

    when I press the volume buttons on my laptop, usually the system volume is changed. However, when I do this with VLC it "steals" the presses and adjusts it's own "volume" instead. The system volume is also changed. I can't find any way to turn this off in VLC. Does anyone know? Update: Sorry, some more details I should have included originally: VLC VERSION: 1.1.4 (and a few previous releases, back to about 1.1.0 or so, I think) OS: Win Vista Pro 32 HARDWARE: Dell 1720 laptop (the volume buttons are little buttons on the front of the unit, they may work something like "media" keyboard volume buttons) Update: The buttons seem to map to Ctrl+Alt+b and Ctrl+Alt+c (according to the shortcut key box in windows shortcut properties) but the VLC advanced preferences hotkeys screen doesn't list these as the keys it uses for volume. I changed it so there are no volume hotkeys in VLC settings - no luck it still steals the presses and adjusts the volume. Also, pressing Ctrl+Alt+b or c doesn't change my system volume, so who knows what windows or VLC are doing to recognise those volume buttons. :(

This is however, costly, so I want to give the workers "chunks" that are as big as possible (has as many targetedSections as possible). It doesn't have to be perfect (mathematically as efficient as possible or something). I mean, I guess that it is impossible to have a perfect solution, because you can't predict how long each computation will take, etc.. But is there a good heuristic solution for this? Or maybe some resources I can read up before I go into designing? Any advice is highly appreciated!

  • Enforce link in Team foundation server bug work item for duplicates

    We have just started out with Team Foundation Server 2008 / Visual Studio Team System and we are pleased to find how we can export and modify work items to our needs. However, this last thing that would make the setup perfect for us has proved somewhat difficult: We have exported the Bug work item type and have made modifications to it to appear differently to different groups of users. We do, however, see a potential problem in non-developers reporting bugs which turn out to be duplicates. We would like to enforce that users who close a ticket with resolved reason:duplicate also creates a link to the bug which is perceived as the first bug report. I have looked at System.RelatedLinkCount, and put the rule <FIELD type="Integer" name="RelatedLinkCount" refname="System.RelatedLinkCount"> <WHEN field="Microsoft.VSTS.Common.ResolvedReason" value="duplicate"> <PROHIBITEDVALUES> <LISTITEM value="0" /> </PROHIBITEDVALUES> </WHEN> </FIELD> However, when I try to put anything in that scope, the importer tells me that System.RelatedLinkCount does not accept the rule, no matter what I put, but the rule above shows what I am trying to do (even though the most preferable rule would also check that the bug that I link to is not a duplicate as well, though this is overkill :P) Has anyone else tried to enforce rules like this in work items? Is there another approach to solving the same issue? I am thankful for any thoughts on the matter.

If my web site sends that email to GMaill (either @gmail.com or another domain that's handled by Google Apps) and that user never emailed to email -- then GMail not only puts the email to spam folder, but also adds prominent red warning:Be careful with this message. Similar messages were used to steal people's personal information. Unless you trust the sender, don't click links or reply with personal information. Learn more That warning really scares many of my users, so they are afraid to open that link and confirm their email. What can I do about it? Ideally I would like that message end up in user's inbox, not spam folder. But at least how do I prevent that scary message?   • Postfix virtual_alias stealing emails from virutal_mailbox

    I am trying to setup a "catchall" address. In my virtual_mailbox table I have emails setup like so: select * from virtual_users; id | domain_id | password | email ----+-----------+---------------------------------------------- 3 | 1 | ***************** | [email protected] 4 | 1 | ***************** | [email protected] That works great on its own. When I try to add a virtual alias for the catchall: select * from virtual_aliases; id | domain_id | source | destination ----+-----------+-------------------+--------------------------- 1 | 1 | @domain.com | [email protected] Once I add that virtual_alias, all email is going to catchall and I can send any to [email protected]. Is there something I need to do to shift around the priority?   • WebBrowser prevent stealing focus in C#

    I'm using webBrowser.Navigate(url) control to display page. I noticed this action steals focus from current control (grid) and than I have problem to focus grid back (tired myGrid.Focus, .Select etc...) This is really annoying behaviour of browser... Does anyone knows how to prevent focus stealing by Browser or (if not) hot to force to focus control back ? EDIT: I've also tried webBrowser.DocumentCompleted event to focus back to grid

  • net-snmp snptranslate dosnt work for my MIB (snmpget does work)

    I add my own MIB module to net-snmp. I put my Mib txt file under - '/usr/local/share/snmp/mibs' I see that if i change net-snmp files their the change is reflected , so this mibs are loaded correct. It seems that it not load my MIB file from there.   • Onshore work methods V Offshore Supplier work methods - how to strike a balance?

    Any advice on the best way to strike a balance between the work methods of an offshore supplier and the work methods of a new onshore team? We have an offshore supplier with about 2 years who have their own working practices and methods. I was bought in as the first onshore developer for my company with the view to vetting the code that comes in and putting together some best practices. Now from what I've seen there are lots of holes in their process (e.g. estimation, planning, code reviews, coding standards from about 10 years ago, no concept of mocking, refactoring etc). I need to be seen as a problem solver and not a problem creator but also I need to try and be somewhat forceful of what they are doing needs improving and at the end of the day they are a supplier.     Recently my i-connection started to get laggy. Sometimes it disappears completely. ISP told me that someone steals my internet. Someone has managed to sniff my MAC address, kick me out and surf web in my place. So... I'm curious - how it's possible to steal MAC address and what makes that mystical thief to be more privileged that when he uses i-net I lose mine? Or my ISP just lies to me? P.s. It's not wifi.

  • Facebook doesn't work on computer, but work on mobile device, both use the same router

    I have a very strange problem and I'm thinking that can be problem with dns or something similar, but not sure and don't know how to solve. My computer is connected to router and every site works fine except facebook (Chrome and Firefox). Chrome shows "Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset." But, on mobile device witch is connected to the same router facebook works fine (Fb application and Delphin browser). Pinging facebook works fine. Clearing cookies and cache didn't help. Also, I performed antivirus and antimalware scan and there is nothing. What can be a problem?     I released another new extension to the Visual Studio Gallery again today called Work Item Visualizer for TFS 2010. I've only heard positive things about it so far, hopefully it stays that way :) Basically, it creates a diagram of all work items linked to a work item ID which the user specifies in a search box. This extension was coded using DGML (the same graph rendering language used for the Visual Studio 2010 Architecture Tools). Download Link: http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/a35b6010-750b-47f6-a7a5-41f0fa7294d2   What it does: ·         Creates a DGML graph to visualize linked TFS Work Items by entering a Work Item ID in the toolbar search box   How it benefits you: ·         Allows you to easily analyze the hierarchy of your TFS Work Items ·         Gain the ability to perform basic risk/impact analysis when creating or editing Work Items ·         Great for meetings in the case that you need to discuss the entire scope of linked Work Items ·         Easier project planning ·         Eliminates the need to create TFS queries or reports to view tree of Work Items ·         Easily lets you see the entire tree of work items linked to the one you’re working on   Navigation Tips: ·         Use Ctrl + Mouse Wheel Scroll to zoom in and out ·         Use Ctrl + Left Mouse click (and hold) to move document around ·         Right click on DGML area for more options (Like copy image or viewing in groups) ·         Clicking on each node highlights that node and the links connected to it ·         Colors in the legend can be changed ·         When work item nodes are deleted, the view is automatically updated ·         Double clicking on work item node will open up the Work Items URL   Try it out on work items that have several of links and let us know what you think.     Does anyone know utility which can measure work intensity. For example - keystrokes\mouse clicks per second, time spent in IDE\other developer tools, total lines of code per hour...etc.
