The vps is running, but the domain name is down ?

Hi, i created a vps on vps.net and installed CentOS 5.4 x64 LAMP , i choosed the root password and the server start running, i added my domain name in the vps domain section, also i added the two name servers on where i bought the domain name. the problem is that i still can't access the domain, so i think that's because a mistake in the DNS template that is created automatically by the vps provider, here is it : TYPE | NAME | TARGET | MX PRIORITY | ACTIONS ------------------------------------------------------------------- OA @ dns1.vps.net. NS @ dns1.vps.net. NS @ dns2.vps.net. MX @ mail.www.XXXXXXX.com. 10 delete A @ 85.128.137.292 delete A www 85.128.137.292 delete A mail 85.128.137.292 delete A webmail 85.128.137.292 delete A ftp 85.128.137.292 The vps is working fine, & i can access the webmin panel via the ip, so what's wrong with my parameters? DYNDNS setup with TightVNC on Windows Server 2008 R2

Hey all, i seem to be having a problem with getting ports to forward on my Windows Server 2008 R2 PC. I already set all my port forwarding for 5900/5800 on my router for my PC's IP address (192.168.1.22) but when i try to use the TightVNC PFPortChecker on port 5900 it tells me its not opened! I can not even connect to my DYNDNS server name (xxxxxxx.dyndns.org). As a side note, i am running Windows XP SP3 within a VirtaulBox inside Windows Server 2008 R2 but running the PFPortChecker in Windows 2008 R2 brings the same results as it does in the VM. I also added them to the Windows Firewall Advanced Security form to add those inbound ports for full access. What could i possibly be missing? Thanks for your time! David

How does RAM fail?

I have an issue with a Dell Inspiron 15 (1545) laptop that refuses to open any applications (save select Microsoft programs, e.g. Security Essentials, Ctrl Panel, Windows Explorer (not Internet), regedit, Event Viewer, etc.). I've run Microsoft Memory Diagnostics Tool and it found a 'hardware problem was detected.' Does this indicate that the RAM has failed? I notice when I open programs like Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, etc., it always give me an error from WerFault.exe saying The instruction at xxxxxxx referenced memory at xxxxxxxxx. The memory could not be written. and sometimes something about illegal instructions. If it is a hardware problem, does this mean that replacing the RAM is my only option? Again, I would also like to know if RAM can fail (like hard drives) and if malware can cause RAM to fail also.

However, I also need to provide application accounts access to the repository. These accounts are in a different OU. Do I need to add a whole new <location> element, or can I add a second AuthLDAPURLto the existing entry?

NT4 server generate too much weird DNS queries, How can i see the source PID?

I have a NT4 server that in the last two weeks started to generate too many weird DNS queries to the DNS server is set to use. I have got warnings from the IPS system that it has blocked the responses from the DNS server back to the NT4 server. The queries it generate doesn't relate to any computer in the network, it is like 120624100088.xxxxxxx.net where xxx is the internal network, the numbers are just random at each query. I have done some research on how to get the PID that is generating the queries, and i found that only Process Monitor could give me that information, but since it is NT4 system Process Monitor doesn't work on it. It is a production server and i am just can't stop services as i want. I would like to get your advice on how can i get the PID that is generating these queries? Thanks.

I'm working on a simple registration email. I'm using MAMP (free) with PHP. I was getting emails from my code before. Now I get nothing. I have a IBM Thinkpad T43, currently running Windows XP. Programs were crashing, XP was blue-screen-of-deathing, (more than usual) - it was basically unusable, but I couldn't get any informative error out of XP. I booted Ubuntu off a thumbdrive, which made it to the desktop, but as soon as I started to try to do anything, X segfaulted, along with several other services, followed quickly by kernel warnings and a kernel panic. I'm currently running Memtest86+ on this machine, which is spitting out numerous errors. (16k over 3 passes, and counting) The failing areas are numerous, and look something like this: 0001055da4 - XX.X MB, etc. The addresses that fail seem to cluster around 0-20 MB, 250MB, and, more rarely, 750MB, 1000MB, and 1200MB. However, a lot (but not all) of the failing addresses that I've seen end in XXXXXXX?da4 where the ? is a 1 or a 5. The machine has two sticks of RAM, one 512MB, one 1024 MB, the 512MB mapped to the lower addresses, the 1024 MB stick following. Is this indeed RAM failure, or should I consider other things before purchasing more RAM?

Insufficient permissions within Eclipse when installed via synaptic in Ubuntu 12.04

I installed Eclipse via the Synaptic Package Manager on Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop (more details on footer). However, from within Eclipse, I lack sufficient permissions to perform upgrades on my package and add-ons. I'm a recovering Windows user, and while I have a couple of years Ubuntu experience, I am unfamiliar with the command-line and mainly interact through the packaged GUI. Specifically, I am trying to install the upgrade for Eclipse CVS Clientorg.eclipse.cvs.feature.group1.3.100.v20110520-0800-7B78FHl9VF7BD7KBM4GP9C I am tracking the varying installation advice on a similar question eclipse install: Gaurav Butola Basically, the most current upgrades are available directly from eclipse?... But at some point I remember reading that the latest version of eclipse had been designed for the previous LTS of Ubuntu - I don't know if that is still true. I have read about the vulnerabilities of Java 6, and so I have gone with Open Java 7 openjdk-amd64 (if that has any relevance to which Eclipse package and installation method I choose). But I'm not crazy about the idea of creating a gksudo link in the sidebar launcher. I don't know enough about chown to use it - if that's even appropriate (I don't want stray java escaping from Eclipse and connecting to SkyNet). Another possible solution that I foresee is modifying my user's group memberships/privileges on the file system as a whole. The only other information that I think might be relevant is that I notice that Synaptic installed all of the files into /usr/ instead of /opt/ like I have seen recommended. So should I be changing ownership, reinstalling using a non-Synaptic method, or what? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Whois status "pending delete" with expiration date in November 2011???

A friend of mine is in the process of being scammed by a domain registrar and I am trying to sort out the mess. However I could use a hand understanding some of the details. He paid for 2 years of domain name registration on 6 november 2009. The whois record reads: Domain ID:XXXXXXXXXX Domain Name:XXXXXXXXX.ORG Created On:06-Nov-2009 09:23:12 UTC Last Updated On:17-Dec-2010 00:15:10 UTC Expiration Date:06-Nov-2011 09:23:12 UTC Sponsoring Registrar:OnlineNIC Inc. (R64-LROR) Status:CLIENT TRANSFER PROHIBITED Status:HOLD Status:PENDING DELETE SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE Registrant ID:ONLC-XXXXXXX-X Registrant Name:My friend's name ... Registrant Email:Old email The registrar charged a renewal fee a week ago and is now asking an extra $150 to "reclaim" the domain name, even though the domain name is apparently still in my friend's name and it looks like there is still another 10 months before the expiry date. The expiration date on the WhoIs record looks right (Nov 2011), so I don't understand why the domain status says "PENDING DELETE SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE". Can someone explain me better what the deal is and explain what I need to do get the domain name transfered to a more honest registrar? I already have a registrar for my own domain names, been using them for 10 years without problems, so I know where to transfer the domain names to, I just don't know how to proceed.

Track user through Google Universal Analytics

I want to track a user from my site, give an id to Google Analytics and later be able to see which pages that id visited and for how long did that id view the pages. I've tried custom variables with the classic analytics. I tried enabling the User-ID feature in the Universal Analytics. Neither of these have given me what I want yet. Is there any way to accomplish this with Universal Analytics? UPDATE This is a sample code with a user whose id is 2. Collabnet Subversion and Self Signed Certificates

We installed Collabnet as our subversion server recently. This is the first time that we’ve used it. In general, it seems pretty good, but we ran into a problem with it. People were getting the following error in Tortoise: OPTIONS of ’https://xxxx.xxxxxxxx.xxxx/svn/xxxxx’: SSL handshake failed: SSL error code – 1/1/336032856 (https://xxxx.xxxxxxxx.xxxx) The odd thing is that for some people, it worked, for others, it didn’t! I also couldn’t find anything useful out on the internet. We had checked the Subversion Server should serve via https option in the settings, and all of the ports were open, etc. This option causes a self signed certificate to be used. What we discovered: Tortoise must use the same url as is in the Hostname field on the General settings for collabnet or you’ll get this error. Basically, some people were using https://svn.xxxxxxx.xxxxx and others were using https://computername.xxxxxxxx.xxxx. Because the host name said used the computer name version, the whole thing broke. By changing the host name to the svn version, which is what they should be using, the problem went away. The users do get the “Accept Certificate” prompt, but we can live with that! Anonymouse VS Logged in users on my site & Google Analytics

I'd like to be able to run two different 'tracks' for Google Analytics; One for anonymous users of the site and another for Users whom are logged-in. I say "track" because Im not sure of the term--but I definitely know I want it to all be in the same "Analytics Account", I just want to segregate my logged-in users... In the site template, I can very easily add a conditional to display one or the other (Analytics code snippet)... Which Im hoping this comes down to and although Im not sure, it seems that the last digit in your Analytics ID (e.g. UA-15XXXX0-X) could be incremented to gain such additional 'tracks'....? Any tips? How do I modify these VPN connection settings for Xfce?

I have signed up for a VPN (Virtual Private Network) service, and I configured it for use on my computer that runs Gnome Classic with the following instructions: In Terminal, install openvpn packages with sudo apt-get install network-manager-openvpn. 1. Restart the network manager with sudo restart network-manager 2. Run sudo wget https://www.xxxxxxx.com/ovpnconfigure.zip 3. Extract the files from the zip with unzip ovpnconfigure.zip. 4. Move cert.crt to /etc/openvpn 5. Open the Network Manager on the menu bar. 6. Choose add and select the OpenVPN connection type, and click Create. 7. Enter Private Internet Access SSL for the Connection Name. 8. Enter xxxxxx.xxxxxxxx.com for the Gateway 9. Select Password and enter your login credentials. 10. Browse and select the CA Certificate we saved in Step 3. 11. Choose Advanced and enable LZO Compression. 12. Apply and exit. 13. Connect using the Network Manager. It worked, but now I want to set up access to the same VPN service on another machine that runs Mythbuntu, which uses Xfce as its desktop manager. So every point from 5 on doesn't apply. How can I modify the above instructions so that I can get my VPN service working with Xfce. As a further note, while I can access the Xfce desktop directly if I need to, it's more convenient for me to access it via the command line and SSH from on of my other computers. A command line process would be ideal. (I looked for this, and found instructions only for PPTP access, whereas I need OpenVPN.)

Tracking Outgoing Links With Google Analytics Events

I've been trying to track clicks on external links on my website using the events tracking method. I have seen many of what is called 'private servers' mmorpg (multiplayer online games), which uses stolen sources,modified executable, clients and server. People launch up their own server using VPS or dedicated server and distribute online service among players disclaiming it has educational purposes only, saying they are studying the game engine and selling items for players disclaming it as 'donations', so it seems like they are getting donations to keep studying. We all know it's a comercial method. All of it is copyrighted material from enterprise ABCD. (ABCD = Fictional name, I'm not mentioning names). At their website they include the following: "Private Server XXXX" does not allow/support any conection to any company/organization associated with the game "XXXX". If you are anyway affiliated with enterprise "XXXXXXX", or any other company/organization associated with the game "XXXX" you may not view/open/read/execute/play/download any part of "Private Server XXXX" nor view "Private Server XXXX" website, if any company/organization requests you to investigate our website/server, you may not view "Private SERVER XXXX" or execute any action mentioned above. Any person caught disobeting this disclaimer will be punish to the fulleste extent of law. Can this guys get arrested? Do they disclaimer works? If I'm owner of enterprise X and I know people stole my source and are using them but they have such disclaimer I'm not allowed to investigate them?

Google Analytics Not tracking data correctly IP-address issue?

I have developed a small site for a client and the site has been placed inside a <iframe> at the clients site. The GA script is tracking visitors and pageviews at both ends. But the problem is that on my clients side the visitor-count is more than double what they are on my end (20 000 vs 5 000). At first I thought that it was being duplicated at some point but when I checked my Crazy-Egg account I saw that it had tracked over 10 000 visits and then stopped tracking because that was my limit on the account. The page my site is on is on a IP-address (http://XXX.XXX.XX.X/campaign/) and not on a "valid url". Could that be an issue why some of the visitors isn't beeing tracked? Thanks in advance

Showing popup in the new FB JS SDK

HI, I used to have an Href in my website, when users clicked on it, multi friend selector showed so they can incite their friends to my website. That was done using the following code: FB.ensureInit(function() { var dialog = new FB.UI.FBMLPopupDialog('XXXXXXX', ''); var fbml = 'Multi-Friend-Selector FBML' dialog.setFBMLContent(fbml); dialog.setContentWidth(620); dialog.setContentHeight(570); dialog.show(); }); Now, I'm using the new JS SDK (http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js), but the old methods are not present... How can I do it with the new SDK ??

nHibernate HQL dynamic Instantiation question

Hello all, I can't find what's going on with the following nHibernate HQL. here's my VB.Net code: Return _Session.GetNamedQuery("PersonAnthroSummary").SetInt32(0, 2).UniqueResult() My Named Query: <sql-query name="PersonAnthroSummary"> select New PersonAnthroSummary( Anthro.Height, Anthro.Weight ) from PersonAnthroContact as Anthro where Anthro.ID = ? </sql-query> and i am importing the DTO class: <import class="xxxxxxx.DataServices.PersonAnthroSummary, xxxxxxxxx.DataServices"/> PersonAnthroSummary has a constructor that will take height and weight arguments. when i test this, nHibernate throwing following exception: {"Incorrect syntax near 'Anthro'."} and generated QueryString is: "select New PersonAnthroSummary( Anthro.Height, Anthro.Weight ) from PersonAnthroContact as Anthro where Anthro.ID = @p0" Can some one tell me what i'm doing wrong here?
