Fading in/Fade out text in IE

I had a problem and whipped up a quick solution: fade-in and fade-out a series of quotations. My solution works just as I want it in every browser except any of the IEs. The only problem with the IEs is that the text does not fade in and fade out; the text simply pops into existence. I believe I've run into a similar problem before when trying to dynamically change the filter:alpha(opacity=xx) of an element. opengl invert framebuffer pixels

I was wondering was the best way to invert the color pixels in the frame buffer is. I know it's possible to do with glReadPixels() and glDrawPixels() but the performance hit of those calls is pretty big. Basically, what I'm trying to do is have an inverted color cross-hair which is always visible no matter what's behind it. For instance, I'd have an arbitrary alpha mask bitmap or texture, have it render without depth test after the scene is drawn, and all the frame buffer pixels under the masked (full alpha) pixels of the texture would be inverted. I've been trying to do this with a texture, but I'm getting some strange results, also all the blending options I still find confusing.

Hi, I want to have a alpha blended window over a video playing in the background. Considering the fact that a window cannot be made alpha blended over another window unless you take a snap of the background, I had to resort to OpenGL. I have few options for this: (1) To show an object on the WinCE window without showing the OpenGL ES window. Is it possible to do this ?? I want to implement a VBA function to number Excel rows based upon the grouping depth of the row. But I think a general algorithm for generating TOCs is more interesting. The problem is: Given a list of "indented" lines such as One Two Three Four Five Six (the "indentation level" may be assumed to be known and part of the input data) To generate the following output: 1. Embedding Facebook in an IFrame

I have an app that has an IFrame with a page flash overly allowing you to draw on webpages. When I go to Facebook with the application, an overlay pops up covering everything at 50% opacity (Which is fine). The problem is that the overlay is all black in some installations of IE7. Can anyone advise on how to get around this? Given adequate explanation and immediate answers to questions Able to compile code and check answers / progress Claims to be a senior level programmer How long should it take an interviewee to answer FizzBuzz correctly? Edit: FizzBuzz: Write a program that prints the numbers from 1 to 100. But for multiples of three print "Fizz" instead of the number and for the multiples of five print "Buzz". For numbers which are multiples of both three and five print "FizzBuzz". Edit: It isn't so much that if they take more then X minutes they are disqualified, but I am curious if I should just cut them loose after they work on it for half hour.

Currently I've got this: url\((?<url>.*)\) But it seems to be choking on the following example: url(images/ui-bg_flat_0_aaaaaa_40x100.png) 50% 50% repeat-x; opacity: .30;filter:Alpha(Opacity=30) Which results in images/ui-bg_flat_0_aaaaaa_40x100.png) 50% 50% repeat-x; opacity: .30;filter:Alpha(Opacity=30... View controllers inside tab bar controller not auto-rotating

In an iPad app, I have five regular view controllers (not navigation controllers or anything like that) inside a tab bar controller. The tab bar controller is just a plain UITabBarController declared in the app delegate. All the view controllers return YES in the shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation method. On both the simulator and device, on rotation, the tab bar rotates properly but the currently selected view controller (call it A) does not. If I switch to another view controller B and then back to A (without rotating the device again), A appears correctly rotated. This happens with any of the five view controllers Why doesn't the currently selected view controller rotate and how do I fix it? Thanks.

Image coding library

Is there any good library for lossless image encoding/decoding that has compression rate more or less similar to PNG but decoding to raw RGB bitmap data would be much faster than PNG? Also alpha transparency is needed, but not essential because, alpha channel could be taken from separate image. Original problem lies in slowness of reading and decoding PNG files on iPhone using standard libraries. Obvious and the simples solution would have been storing raw RGB bitmap data, but then size of unpacked ipa is too large - 4 times larger than PNG files. So, I am trying to find some compromise solution.

How do I remove (or apply) transparency on a gdk-pixbuf?

I have a c++ program in which a gdk-pixbuf is created. I want to output it as an image, so I call gdk_pixbuf_save_to_stream(pixbuf,stream,type,NULL,&err,NULL). This works fine when "type" is png or tiff, but with jpeg or bmp it just produces a black square. The original pixbuf consists of black-on-transparent (and gdk_pixbuf_get_has_alpha returns true) so I'm guessing that the problem is with the alpha mask. GdkPixbuf has a function to add an alpha channel, but I can't see one that removes it again, or (which might be as good) to invert it. Is there a simple way to get the jpeg and bmp formats to work properly? (I should say that I'm very new to proper programming like this.)

Silverlight Line Graph with Gradient

I have a series of points which I will turn into a line on a graph. What I want is to give the area under the graph a gradient fill. It would look somewhat similar to a Bloomberg graph like this; My question really has three parts; First, how should I fill only the area under the graph? Second, how do I fill that with a gradient? Finally, if I have multiple lines on the same graph any area under more than one line should have a greyscale gradient fill, how would you set this up? My biggest problem is deciding on the data structures to use, I could use many multiple sided shapes (One for each line/ data series) and then tell the brush to draw; Transparent if it's not in any shape The colour of one series if it's in one shape (Alpha relative to height to give grad) Black if it's in multiple shapes (Alpha relative to height to give grad) Then I'd draw the shapes' boundaries in white afterwards. Filtering and copying with PowerShell

In my quest to improve my PowerShell skills, here's an example of an ugly solution to a simple problem. Any suggestions how to improve the oneliner are welcome. Mission: trim a huge icon library down to something a bit more manageable. The original directory structure looks like this: /Apps and Utilities /Compile /32 Bit Alpha png /Compile 16 n p.png /+ 10 or more files /+ 5 more formats with 10 or more files each /+ 20 or so icon names /+ 22 more categories I want to copy the 32 Bit Alpha pngs and flatten the directory structure a bit. possible bug in geom_ribbon

CSS: semi-transparent background, but not text

Is there a way in CSS to make the background of an element semi-transparent, but still have the text of the element non-transparent? (Without separating the text and background in two elements positioned over eachother.) I've tried <p style="position:absolute;background-color:green;filter:alpha(opacity=60);opacity:.6;"><span style="color:white;filter:alpha(opacity=100);opacity:1;">Hello world</span></p> But it looks like child elements are subjected to the opacity of their parent(s), so 'opacity:1' is still drawn as 'opacity:.6' from the parent.

Enumerating all combinations of lists of different types

Given two IEnumberables of different types, what is the best practice (considering readability and maintainability) for iterating over both lists to perform an action on all possible combinations? My initial solution was to use nested foreach loops, iterating over the first IEnumerable, and then within that loop, iterating over the second IEnumerable and passing the value from the outer and the current loop into the target method. Eg.: enum ParamOne { First, Second, Etc } List<int> paramTwo = new List<int>() { 1, 2, 3 }; void LoopExample() { foreach (ParamOne alpha in Enum.GetValues(typeof(ParamOne))) { foreach (int beta in paramTwo) { DoSomething(alpha, beta); } } } I tried to restructure it with LINQ, but ended up with something that had no obvious advantages and seemed less intuitive. A search here shows lots of questions about nesting foreachs to iterate over child properties, but I couldn't find anything about iterating over two distinct lists.
