• Where Are Multiple JUnit Test Methods Typically Placed in Code?

  I've just read the Vogella JUnit tutorial and found it very helpful in understanding how to use JUnit. However, I'm a bit confused about what the convention is for placing multiple test methods in code. The tutorial only places one test method in a class, then describes how you can use a test suite to group multiple test classes together. Does this mean that it's common practice for each test class to only have one test method and then test suites are used to chain them together? Or was that just unintended and instead common practice is to put multiple test methods in a class?

• Design Pattern for Data Validation

  What would be the best design pattern for this problem: I have an Object A. Object A can either be registered or deleted from the database depending on the user request. Data validation is performed before registration or deletion of the object. There are a set of rules to be checked before the object can be registered and another set of rules for deletion. Some of these rules are common for both operations. So far, I think the Chain of Responsibility design pattern fits the most but I'm having trouble implementing it.

• Build git on embedded system

  I want to build git on our embedded system and I got git's source code from here. I run ./configure tool with following arguments: ./configure --build=arm-eabi --host=`uname -p`-`uname -s`-`uname -o` Configure tool runs, and returns an error says: checking whether system succeeds to read fopen'ed directory...configure: error: in`/home/git-1.8.0.2`. I set necessary environment variables like CC and CXX to our tool chain already, so ./configure complains nothing about compilers. But I have no idea about that error message. It looks like some permission problem, but I have full permission of /home/git-1.8.0.2 for sure. Any idea ?

• Apache + Codeigniter + New Server + Unexpected Errors

  Alright here is the situation: I use to have my codeigniter site at bluehost were I did not have root access, I have since moved that site to rackspace. I have not changed any of the PHP code yet there has been some unexpected behavior. Unexpected Behavior: http://mysite.com/robots.txt Both old and new resolve to the robots file http://mysite.com/robots.txt/ The old bluehost setup resolves to my codeigniter 404 error page. The rackspace config resolves to: Not Found The requested URL /robots.txt/ was not found on this server. **This instance leads me to believe that there could be a problem with my mod rewrites or lack there of. The first one produces the error correctly through php while it seems the second senario lets the server handle this error. The next instance of this problem is even more troubling: 'http://mysite.com/search/term/9 x 1-1%2F2 white/' New site results in: Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Old site results in: The actual page being loaded and the search term being unencoded. I have to assume that this has something to do with the fact that when I went to the new server I went from root level htaccess file to httpd.conf file and virtual server default and default-ssl. I am looking to have this whole chain of effects happen on load or when the DOM is ready (instead of on hover). And by blur, I mean a gaussian-type of blur - possibly using Pixastic (?) • Getting a WebView to act exactly like Safari

Everything works fine except when I try to tab between input fields is the webview, the focus goes to the nav bar. • Asynchronous subprocess on Windows

  First of all, the overall problem I am solving is a bit more complicated than I am showing here, so please do not tell me 'use threads with blocking' as it would not solve my actual situation without a fair, FAIR bit of rewriting and refactoring. I have several applications which are not mine to modify, which take data from stdin and poop it out on stdout after doing their magic. My task is to chain several of these programs. Problem is, sometimes they choke, and as such I need to track their progress which is outputted on STDERR. pA = subprocess.Popen(CommandA, shell=False, stdout=subprocess.PIPE, stderr=subprocess.PIPE) # ... some more processes make up the chain, but that is irrelevant to the problem pB = subprocess.Popen(CommandB, shell=False, stdout=subprocess.PIPE, stderr=subprocess.PIPE, stdin=pA.stdout ) Now, reading directly through pA.stdout.readline() and pB.stdout.readline(), or the plain read() functions, is a blocking matter. Since different applications output in different paces and different formats, blocking is not an option. (And as I wrote above, threading is not an option unless at a last, last resort.) pA.communicate() is deadlock safe, but since I need the information live, that is not an option either. Thus google brought me to this asynchronous subprocess snippet on ActiveState. All good at first, until I implement it. Comparing the cmd.exe output of pA.exe | pB.exe, ignoring the fact both output to the same window making for a mess, I see very instantaneous updates. However, I implement the same thing using the above snippet and the read_some() function declared there, and it takes over 10 seconds to notify updates of a single pipe. But when it does, it has updates leading all the way upto 40% progress, for example. Thus I do some more research, and see numerous subjects concerning PeekNamedPipe, anonymous handles, and returning 0 bytes available even though there is information available in the pipe. As the subject has proven quite a bit beyond my expertise to fix or code around, I come to Stack Overflow to look for guidance. :) My platform is W7 64-bit with Python 2.6, the applications are 32-bit in case it matters, and compatibility with Unix is not a concern. I can even deal with a full ctypes or pywin32 solution that subverts subprocess entirely if it is the only solution, as long as I can read from every stderr pipe asynchronously with immediate performance and no deadlocks. :)

  At runtime in a generic fashion (i.e. iterating UIElements) can I determine if a given FrameWorkElement has a non-inherited DataContext property set? I want a list of elements where DataContext was explicitly set, not inherited from higher up in the chain. I thought perhaps GetBindingExpression() would help but so far it has not. Using Silverlight beta 3.

• Is html font size using em still important

  In a web LOB web based SaaS product we are developing that we explicitly not support IE 6, only IE7/8, FF 3, Chrome, Opera, WebKit etc... which allow px resize as standard, is it still important to use em rather than px? Its a lot more work to consider the compute font size (size em are computed from their inheritance chain) especially when nesting html reuse components where a font-size has already been specified in an outer container.

• Is daisy chaining xslt an accepted practice?

  I have a situation where I think I need to daisy chain my xslt transformation (i.e. that output of one xslt transform being input into another). The first transform is rather complex with lots of xsl:choice and ancestor xpaths. My thought is to transform the xml into xml that can then be easily transformed to html.   I am trying to setup the ssl_requirement plugin. For my users controller I would like to require ssl for new and create. When I open users/new the browser redirects to https but I get an unable to connect error message. The application error log says : Filter chain halted as [:ensure_proper_protocol] rendered_or_redirected. I am not sure if I have configured the plugin incorrectly or if I made an error with the nginx configuration.

  I have a dojo animation object of about 15 images. I'm also using dojo.fx.chain to link them all together. Right before I create all my dojo.fadeIn's and dojo.fadeOut's I added in some basic javascript to preload each image. My question is: Am I doing this the hard way or is there some function/attr I can set in the animation object to do this?
