  • Dead keys in emacs with ibus

    I've just upgraded to 13.10 and noticed that dead keys are not working anymore in emacs (a keystroke to ' leads emacs to display <dead-acute> is undefined instead of waiting to the next key. In addition, use of the compose key leads to <Multi_key> is undefined and it is impossible to use keybindings such as <M-^>. Other applications work fine as far as I can tell. A brief search on the internet suggested to (require 'isotransl) to .emacs. This solves the first issue, but not the other ones. Another possible workaround seen on the web is to launch emacs with an empty XMODIFIERS variable, as XMODIFIERS='' emacs, instead of XMODIFIERS= @im=ibus which seems to be the default in 13.10. Then everything works fine, but it looks like a kludge. Is there a way to make emacs work with ibus on this subject?

  • Fn keys for Brightness not working on Toshiba Satellite L755

    I am running Ubuntu 12.04 and I love it! The only problem is the keys for my brightness, F6 and F7, does not work when I am on battery power or AC power. It randomly works after I am idle for a while and log back in. The other weird thing is to see my battery indicator, I need to toggle my touch pad button that is right above the actual pad on and off for it to show up, and then back on so I can use my touch pad, obviously. The only other Fn buttons that work on my laptop is the button to mute (F1) Touch pad on and off (F9) and Fn+3 and Fn+4 for my volume. The only Fn buttons that I care if they work again are my brightness, which again, are F6 and F7. Thanks! James

  • Unlock all private keys on Ubuntu, entering password only once at login

    I login to Ubuntu 12.04 using a password. Later on, when I use my browser(Chrome), I'm asked for a password to unlock the keychain so that the browser can access my saved credentials for various websites (it's the same password). Also, whenever I use SSH to connect to other computers using my private key, I am prompted for the same password to unlock my private key. How can I make it so that I am asked for my password exactly once per login (given that my login password is the same as the one I use for all my private keys)? Probably someone will try to label this question as a duplicate of this question, this question, or this question. While these questions are similar, none of them explicitly say that there still needs to be a password entered on login, as I am demanding here. As a result, the accepted solutions just say "set your passwords to blank"--I don't want that, it's dangerous! So I am aware of the similar questions, but none of them has received the correct answer yet, because they are slightly different.

Did I do something wrong or is this the default behavior?     How do you bridge the gap between the library's low-level event system and your engine's high-level event system? (I'm not necessarily talking about key events, but also about quit events.) At the top level of my event system, I send out KeyPressedEvents, KeyRelesedEvents and others of this kind. These high-level events only contain the abstract values of the keys (they don't say that Space way pressed, but that the JumpKey was pressed, for example). Whose responsibility should it be to map the "JumpKey" to an actual key on the keyboard?

  • Regulating brightness using Fn-keys

    I have a laptop with the newest Ubuntu-version (12.04). I want to use the FN-Keys to adjust the brightness of my screen, but it doesnt work. Normally it should be FN+left arrow/right arrow. However adjusting the volume with FN+ up arrow/down arrow works fine. I already searched for a few soulutions, for example tried to replace in the Grub-File GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" with GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor" or GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash cpi_osi=Linux" but it all doesnt work for my laptop. Will I be able to determine which domain forwarded to the primary domain using their technique? Or will it simply tranfers all the relevant keyword and other factors to the primary domain but not which domain was originally landed before the 302 redirect. What I need to do is track which domain alias are being used.

    Hi, basically, I have 3 tables; users and projects (which is a many-to-many relationship), then I have 'usersprojects' to allow the one-to-many formation. When a user adds a project, I need the project information stored and then the 'userid' and 'projectid' stored in the usersprojects table. It sounds like its really straight forward but I'm having problems with the syntax I think!? As it stands, I have this as my INSERT queries (values going into 2 different tables): $project_id = $_POST['project_id']; $projectname = $_POST['projectname']; $projectdeadline = $_POST['projectdeadline']; $projectdetails = $_POST['projectdetails']; $user_id = $_POST['user_id']; $sql = "INSERT INTO projects (projectid, projectname, projectdeadline, projectdetails) VALUES ('{$projectid}','{$projectname}','{$projectdeadline}','{$projectdetails}')"; $sql = "INSERT INTO usersprojects (userid, projectid) VALUES ('{$userid}','{$projectid}')"; None of the information is being stored in the projects table, but the user ID is being stored in the usersprojects table (but not project ID!?)... I did have it working where the project information is stored correctly with a project ID, before I added this bit: $sql = "INSERT INTO usersprojects (userid, projectid) VALUES ('{$userid}','{$projectid}')"; But before the code above was put in, obviously no info is being stored in usersprojects table.     Is there any way how to use multiple SkyDrive accounts on one computer running MAC OS X or Windows 8? I would like to sync data from different accounts to different folder and not to merge these accounts to one. The reason is that every SkyDrive has it's storage limits and I'm using every account for different work data. The result should be the following: I have a number of SkyDrive accounts every for different work, let's say: S1 S2 S3 I would like to sync exactly the same number of folders on computer using different accounts to sync them: SkyDriveS1Folder - (folder on computer which syncing the content of S1 SkyDrive) SkyDriveS2Folder - (folder on computer which syncing the content of S2 SkyDrive) SkyDriveS3Folder - (folder on computer which syncing the content of S3 SkyDrive) Is it possible somehow? If i manually set the foreign key to ON_UPDATE CASCADE it does work. Why does doctrine not set this option? I got it to work in Propel, but i really want to use doctrine for this.

    Hey all, I'm trying to set some conditional statements for nested embedRelation() instances, and can't find a way to get any kind of option through to the second embedRelation. I've got a "Measure-Page-Question" table relationship, and I'd like to be able to choose whether or not to display the Question table. For example, say I have two "success" pages, page1Success.php and page2Success.php. On page1, I'd like to display "Measure-Page-Question", and on page2, I'd like to display "Measure-Page", but I need a way to pass an "option" to the PageForm.class.php file to make that kind of decision. My actions.class.php file has something like this: // actions.class.php $this-form = new measureForm($measure, array('option'=$option)); to pass an option to the "Page", but passing that option through "Page" into "Question" doesn't work. My measureForm.class.php file has an embedRelation in it that is dependent on the "option": // measureForm.class.php if ($this-getOption('option') == "page_1") { $this-embedRelation('Page'); } and this is what i'd like to do in my pageForm.class.php file: // pageForm.class.php if ($this-getOption('option') == "page_1") { // Or != "page_2", or whatever $this-embedRelation('Question'); } I can't seem to find a way to do this.     Is it possible to have an Exchange Server solution that allows for multiple email domains? I would like to make use of push email but also want to retain the scheduling features of Outlook/Exchange integration. The only problem is I use multiple business domains and need to be able to respond from each of them from Outlook and my Smartphone (iOS or Android). From everything I have seen so far it looks like Exchange doesn't allow email to be sent out from different aliases. Can hosted Exchange solutions do this?

    I have two AccessDataSources each returning one row. I want to use the data in each row to populate content on my page, so I figured I would use a Repeater or FormView. However, I would not necessarily want the labels bound to a particular DataSource placed together. For example, I might want labels from the following columns in order (DataSourceName.ColumnName): TestSetup.TestType, TestSummary.FormattedValue, TestSetup.DeviceChannel, TestSummary.CompletedOn. How do I handle this? Do I just have a separate Repeater/FormView for each value? Can I have both Repeater's/FormView's in 'scope' at the same time? Note: No language preference (C#/VB).

    I'd like to use Rails 2.2.2 for one project and Rails 2.3.2 for another. Both are installed. What is rails _2.2.2_ --version supposed to do? I've read that it makes 2.2.2 the working version -- that is, the version that will be used from that point on. But when I check rails --version, I get Rails 2.3.2. So, I also want to know what rails --version tells me; is it just the latest version of Rails that I have or is it the version that will be used for rakes? I know about RVM. Is that the best way to use different versions of Rails on different projects?

    I have created a Web Control in ASP for use in integrating with Telligent CommunityServer. The control is written in ASP with some 10 lines of C# backend for controlling visibility of the UI elements based on permissions, but I'd say 90% of the functionality is straight-up Javascript. The control works beautifully, until you drop two instances of the Control on the same page--since they reference the exact same Javascript functions, only one control works. How can I take this functionality that I have, this 1200 lines of Javascript, and make it so that each instance of the control can reference its each unique instance of Javascript?
