  • Need in obtaining a specific local telephone number [closed]

    I am wanting a local phone number that I like. I have found one that I like. When I call the number that I want it says "this number has not been allocated" I have looked up and found the company that owns that number. How do I go about acquiring that number from the company. I spoke with someone who sells major phone packages and he said that if I signed up with them he could get the number for me. He said that there is a change of ownership form that the send to get the number. So I know it can be done. I am hoping that someone with industry specific knowledge in this area can guide me in getting this number.

  • I need help with background interaction with foreground

    So basicly my game design idea is to have a still back. In the foreground is a PNG format spirite that the user has controll over it is on the ground and the user jump over the oncoming from the right to left spirites. kinda like jumping over rock while running...So the problem...I don't where start. whether with the background or foreground...basicly i am a noob at this as a whole.   • Need help to install persistent Ubuntu on USB drive

    I am a new user of Ubuntu. I would like to install a persistent Ubuntu 11.04 to my USB stick, and it should be able to work as a guest OS running on Windows so that I can boot it on other computers other than the one which I used for the installation. I have used several creators such as unetbootin, however from my understanding it can only create Live Linux which I am unable to save my configurations and files. If it's possible I would like to bypass the BIOS, that is to say that I can just load from the virtual machine without having to restart the computer. Thanks in advance!

  • Should the test and the fix be written by different people?

    There is a common practice in TDD to write a test before fix to avoid regression and simplify fixing. I just wonder what if the test and fix will be written by different people, total spent time will be almost the same but as now three people will think about possible failures (+tester) we increase probability that fix will cover all possible failure scenarios. Does this practice make sense or it will just waste additional time needed for one more person to familiarize with bug?

  • I need help with a timer for a text based game, i need to include a mysql query to it, but not sure how.

  • Google Chrome Loses ASP.NET Sessions - Need FavIcon

    I had programmed a brilliant web page in ASP.NET 4.0 and lo and behold, this one page lost its sessions in Google Chrome. I could run it locally in debug and could not reproduce the issues in Chrome. Didn't happen in IE or Firefox, only Chrome on the published server.     Hello Everyone, I've completed my graduation in Computer Science and currently working as a Software Engineer in a software company. I was wondering if I can build my career in Game Development. If so, what should be my approach. I've a few questions: Which universities to apply for masters? Preferably in Canada. Scholarships available? How shall I prepare myself before applying which shall give me an edge or advantage over others? I know Java, C#, PHP etc. I dont think these languages will be needed in Game Development. In that case, what languages shall I focus on from now? How do I get some ideas about IDE/Engines/Platform of game development? I'm not talking about flash/browser games. Please suggest me anything you want as I don't know much about it so I'm most likely to miss the most important questions. Feel free to make this thread a starter guide for those interested in perusing their career in game development. Post every relevant information. Thanks in Advance. EDIT: I can see a lot of people suggested to build a small project/game.   • Need ideas on how to give my levels structure

    I am making an iOS game for a project at school. It is going to be a tiny bit like Fruit Ninja, as in it will have different things on the screen, and when you hit them, they die, and you get points. The trouble is that unlike Fruit Ninja, my game will have different types of sprites, all doing different things (moving different places, doing different things, etc). The one thing that is bad about having all of these sprites that do different things is that it is hard for them to look neat on the screen all together. I was planning on having a couple of different gamemodes: Time Trial You have 120 seconds to kill as many sprites as possible. Survival You have three lives, every time you try to hit a sprite and miss, you lose a life. ???? Whatever I think of. I am a rookie to game design in general, and I don't know the best way to make my game look good, and play well. I could have all of these sprites on the screen at the same time, or I could have them come in waves, for example 10 of sprite_a come on, and once they are killed, 10 of sprite_b come on, etc... Please give me your opinion about which one I should code. If you have any other suggestions for either a third gamemode, or a completely different way to make the levels, feel free to tell me.

    A friend has asked me to build a site with the following options: staff members must be able to add new music and artists to the page a gallery must be provided - it is also good if each artist has the ability to have his/her own smaller gallery users must be able to vote for artists users must be able to alter in discussions (forums or comments sections) staff members must be able to blog staff members must be able to write articles I did a small project where i actually implemented all of these features, but I want to use an existing content management system for all of these features so that future developers can, hopefully, more easy extend the website. And also, so that I don't have to provide too much documentation. I have never developed a website using an external CMS like Drupal or Wordpress and after seeing hours of tutorial videos of both systems, I still can't make up my mind on whether i should : a) use Drupal 7 b) use Wordpress 3 c) create my own cms I can imagine that staff members would also want to create content using iPhone or android based mobile devices, but this is not a required feature. Can someone, with experience, please tell me about their experiences with larger projects like this? The site will have approximately 400 000 - 500 000 visitors (not daily visitors, based on numbers from last year in a period of 4 months)

    I try to install Hping3 in my ubuntu 8.04 but after installation when I want to Hping3 I got this error: Command 'hping3' is available in '/usr/sbin/hping3' The command could not be located because '/usr/sbin' is not included in the PATH environment variable.     I would like secure access to the text output by three PHP scripts (the text output is JavaScript and html) . The security level is much less then financial data but important none-the-less. I have considered purchasing AND studying https and SSL certificates. Hostgator charges an extra $2/month for a private ip plus $50+ anually for a certificate. This is more then I want to spend for this project (time + money). Is there a simpler solution that is: less expensive easier to implement. I'm open to different approaches.

I want to extend this module to allow you to vote multiple times, and the votes to be incremental. Examples Up, Up = +1, +1 = +2 Up, Up, Down = +1, +1, -1 = +1 I want to create a new boolean variable. If FALSE/NULL then use the old system +1/-1. If TRUE, voting will be incremental. What should be the name of this variable be? I feel 'incremental' is not the correct name. This module is part of an open-source project and is used on 3,177+ websites, so I want to get the naming convention right. Naturally, I'll be setting an upper and lower limit the variable be. [ie 5 & 0] Side-question: Is there a mathematics term to describe something being either +1/-1?
