  • How to fix this Makefile

    I want my Makefile to be as simple as possible and still function. This is what it looks like. load: load.cpp g++ load.cpp -g -o load list: list.cpp g++ list.cpp -g -o list It worked fine when there was only one entry. But when I added the second entry, it doesn't check to see if it's updated and needs to be recompiled, unless I specifically supply the name. How do I fix this?

    hi, I have an executable built in windows(exe).I want to pass that exe to an out file built by Cygwin(DOS version). It is going well upto half the way. After that it is showing the following error,which is related to Cygwin dll files(ACL check) . Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x6108829e in cygwin1!aclcheck () from /usr/bin/cygwin1.dll (gdb) Can anybody fix this..? Regards, Renjith G

  • How to fix emacs popup dialogs on mac?

    Hello emacs gurus, I'm out of ideas here - my emacs crashes when popup dialog is opened. The x-popup-dialog function is probably to blame but I found no workaround to this. My Emacs version is 23.1.1 . Unfortunately some functionality of emacs calls this (e.x. customize asks whether it should save the changes) which causes the crash. Does anybody know how to fix it or disable it?

Now Opensuse loader shows Windows7 option when I it loads but, when I chose to load windows 7 I get " A Disk read error occured, press ctrl+alt+e to restart".     Hi I have set the background of my UITable with a custom image. self.tableView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; self.tableView.backgroundColor = [UIColor colorWithPatternImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"background.png"]]; The problem im having is the background image is scrolling and doesn't look good at the top and bottom of the screen where you see the image being joined. Is there a way to fix the position of the background image and just have the table scroll over the top of it?

  • Do I need liquid cooling?

    I'm building a computer mainly for gaming and developing games. It's going to be a three screen system with two GeForce GTX 460's and a quad-core i7. The newegg wattage calculator says I need around 900W. The case I intend to get is this one. Full specs if you need 'em are at the end of this post. I have no intentions to overclock the system at the moment, but this may change in the future. I've done a lot of research on the subject, and the answers I've found indicate that it takes a heck of a lot of power to require liquid cooling, and most non-overclocked systems don't need it. But I haven't seen a question about a system with two GPU's, so I ask you the following two questions: Assuming that the system is used for gaming for very extended periods of time (say 4-6 hours at a time, nonstop) with all three screens running at full 1080p, would the fans installed in the system suffice? Or would I need more fans and/or liquid cooling? If the system is used under the same circumstances as above, and is overclocked to a reasonable level, would the fans installed in the system suffice? I need the same behavior that produces M-Daemon tools when you mount an .iso File but with a remote directory.     I know that 777 is full read/write/execute permission for owner/group/other. So this doesn't seem to be needed as it leaves random users full permissions. What permissions are need to be used on /var/www so that... Source control like git or svn Normal users in a group like "websites" or added to "www-data" Servers like apache or lighthttpd And PHP/Perl/Ruby can all read, create, and run files there? If I'm correct, Ruby and PHP scripts are not "executed" directly - but passed to an interpreter. So there is no need for execute permission on files in /var/www. Therefore, it seems like the correct permission would be chmod -R 1660 which would make all files shareable by these four entities all files non-executable by mistake block everyone else from the directory entirely set the permission mode to "sticky" for all future files Is this correct? Update: I just realized that files and directories might need different permissions - I was talking about files above so i'm not sure what the directory permissions would need to be.

  • MySQL proxy HA with no need to reconnect after node failure

    I use MySQL with Galera wsrep to get synchronous replication, that part it's up and running I need to setup a kind of proxy to handle client connections. Since any node in cluster can fail, clients will not connect nodes directly, but only via proxy. Currently I use Galera Load Balancer which does it work, but with one exception: if one node fails, all clients connected via proxy to that node get connection error and need to reconnect. I have no control over server applications connected to proxy and some of them can't reconnect automatically and need manual restart. So the question is how to force proxy automatically redirect already connected applications to new data node, without need to reconnect?

  • Does my Oracle DBA need root access?

    I'm currently discussing with my Oracle DBA Collegue that request a root access on our production servers. I'm not so hot to let him use the root access on our production servers. He is arguing that he need it to perform some operations like restarting the server and some other obscure arguments. The point is that I'm not agree with him because I've set him a Oracle user/group and a dba group where Oracle user belong. Everything is running smoothy and without any root permissions for now. I also think that all administrative tasks like scheduled server restart and so one need to be operated by the proper administrator (The Systems administrator on our case) to avoid any kind of issues related to a misunderstanding of the infrastructure interactions. So, I need the help of both, sysadmins and Oracle DBAs to lead me on the correct direction. If my collegue really need this rights I'll give him, but I'm just basically quite affraid of that because of security and integrity concerns. I know that my collegue is really good as a Oracle DBA and he know is work very well, but I also know that I've very few cases where a software and its admin really need root access. Once again, I'm not looking for pros/cons but rather an advice on the way that I should take to deal with this situation.

We have created all users and different groups as follows: dn: dc=ldapserver,dc=local dn: ou=people,dc=ldapserver,dc=local ou: people dn: uid=geo,ou=people,dc=ldapserver,dc=local dn: uid=user,ou=people,dc=ldapserver,dc=local dn: ou=groups,dc=ldapserver,dc=local dn: cn=server,ou=groups,dc=ldapserver,dc=local member: uid=geo,ou=people,dc=ldapserver,dc=local dn: cn=website,ou=groups,dc=ldapserver,dc=local member: uid=user,ou=people,dc=ldapserver,dc=local We need scenario in such a way that the users that are member of server need only login to server (that is geo) and users that are member of website need only login to websites (That is user “user”). Please let me know how we can configure it. For login site we tried by giving DN as cn=website,ou=groups,dc=ldapserver,dc=local and Login Attribute as uid and also member but it is not working. Can anyone please help us on it. Also please let us know is there any other option for accomplish this scenario. Thanks Geo

  • What kind of hosting do I need? [closed]

    I have been trying to answer this question but I haven't found an specific answer to my situation. As I want to pay for what I need, I thought I could get a good answer here. I have custom made forum (rather than a built-in forum like the ones you can find as plugins, e.g. WP-Forum or phpBB type of software) in Django. I don't want to use Apache and modwsgi because it's usually very memory-hungry and I can't afford a big server. I prefer a combination of nginx and gunicorn which I think is very efficient (maybe you can also tell me what you think about that). I'm expecting to receive 10,000 to 20,000 visits each month with 15,000 to 30,000 page impressions. I have reviewed some cloud services like Amazon EC2 or Rackspace and other more traditional services (Linodo). This site won't use videos or big images and I certainly don't need a huge amount of bandwidth (200GB would be definitely too much). I need shell access so shared hosting is out of the question. What do I need to run a website like that without problems? What about RAM? 256MB would be enough (that's the amount of RAM offered by small instances in Amazon and Rackspace)? Do you know of any alternative to those I mentioned? If you need more information to provide a useful answer, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks a lot.

  • Need a helpful/managed VPS to help transition from shared hosting

    I am looking for a VPS that can help me transition out of a shared hosting environment. My main OS is Ubuntu, although I am still new to the linux world. I spend most of my day programming PHP applications using a git over SSH workflow. I want PHP, SSH, git, MySQL/PostgreSQL and Apache to work well. Someday after I figure out server management I'll move on to http://nginx.org/ or something. I don't really understand 1) linux firewalls, 2) mail servers, or 3) proper daily package/lib update flow. I need a host that can help with these so I don't get hit with a security hole. (I monitor apache access logs so I think I can take it from there.) I want to know if there is a sub $50/m VPS that can help me learn (or do for me) these three main things I need to run a server. I can't leave my shared hosts (plural shows my need!) until I am sure my sites will be safe despite my incompetence. To clarify again, I need the most helpful, supportive, walk-me-through, check-up-on-me, be-there-when-I-need you VPS I can get. Learning isn't a problem when there is someone to turn too. ;)

  • I really need help resolving a Window Vista BSOD (Blue Screen Crash) on my desktop

    Hi, thanks for taking the time to read this. I'll get straight to the details. My desktop is on the fritz; it keeps going to blue screen with the stop message of 0x0000007E immediately after the loading bar of vista, right before transitioning to the account selection screen. My desktop runs on a dual-core 32-bit processor with windows Vista Home(?) installed. I have 3 GB of ram as two separate modules, a 1GB acer module and a 2GB geil module. I have an ati video card, unfortunately I cannot recall the exact name but the chipset is ATI and the manufacturer is Sapphire and the card is on the lower end. My hard drive is 320GB (i think) partitioned into two. The C:\ partition is red lined, while the D:\ partition is still pretty empty. As per the advice of my friend, i tried restarting the system with the graphics card removed. Upon failure, i repeated the process removing one RAM module one at a time, but the system still failed to load. Vista would attempt to repair the system and it would initially report that the system was fixed, but vista really failed to fix the problem. After removing the memory modules, vista started to report it's inability to fix the problem. I tried running on safe mode and the driver listing would always stop at crcdisk.sys. I ran memory diagnostics using the windows memory diagnostic tool found in the screen after vista's failed attempt to fix the problem with no luck. the problem details are as such: Problem Event Name : StartupRepairV2 Problem Signature 01: AutoFailover 02: (vista's version number?) 03: 6 04: 720907 05: 0x7e 06: 0x7e 07: 0 08: 2 09: WrpRepair 10: 0 OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.256.1 Locale ID 1033 any correct advice would be appreciated as i really need my pc to work so i can work on my projects. kinda sad, but i'm college of computer science and i have no idea what to do :P
