  • Get status of servlet request before the response is returned

    - by Alex
Good evening, I am in the process of writing a Java Servlet (Struts 2, Tomcat, JSP etc) which is capable of doing some fairly complex simulations. These can take up to 2 minutes to complete on the and will return a graph of the results. It is trivial to calculate the percentage of the simulation completed because the process works by repeating the same calculations 1000s of times. I would be interested to know if anyone has ever tried to use client side technology to provide any estimate of the percentage complete. I.e query the servlet processing to get the number of cycles completed at various point throughout the simulation. This could then be displayed as a bar in the client browser. Any thoughts, advice, resources would be much appreciated. Thanks, Alex

  • Android ksoap nested soap objects in request gives error in response

    - by Smalesy
    I'm trying to do the following soap request on Android using KSOAP. It contains a list of nested soap objects. However, I must be doing something wrong as I get an error back. The request I am trying to generate is as follows: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <soap12:Envelope xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soap12="http://www.w3.org/2003/05/soap-envelope"> <soap12:Body> <SetAttendanceMarks xmlns="http://hostname.net/"> <strSessionToken>string</strSessionToken> <LessonMarks> <Count>int</Count> <LessonMarks> <LessonMark> <StudentId>int</StudentId> <EventInstanceId>int</EventInstanceId> <Mark>string</Mark> </LessonMark> <LessonMark> <StudentId>int</StudentId> <EventInstanceId>int</EventInstanceId> <Mark>string</Mark> </LessonMark> </LessonMarks> </LessonMarks> </SetAttendanceMarks> </soap12:Body> </soap12:Envelope> My code is as follows: public boolean setAttendanceMarks(List<Mark> list) throws Exception { boolean result = false; String methodName = "SetAttendanceMarks"; String soapAction = getHost() + "SetAttendanceMarks"; SoapObject lessMarksN = new SoapObject(getHost(), "LessonMarks"); for (Mark m : list) { PropertyInfo smProp =new PropertyInfo(); smProp.setName("LessonMark"); smProp.setValue(m); smProp.setType(Mark.class); lessMarksN.addProperty(smProp); } PropertyInfo cProp =new PropertyInfo(); cProp.setName("Count"); cProp.setValue(list.size()); cProp.setType(Integer.class); SoapObject lessMarks = new SoapObject(getHost(), "LessonMarks"); lessMarks.addProperty(cProp); lessMarks.addSoapObject(lessMarksN); PropertyInfo sProp =new PropertyInfo(); sProp.setName("strSessionToken"); sProp.setValue(mSession); sProp.setType(String.class); SoapObject request = new SoapObject(getHost(), methodName); request.addProperty(sProp); request.addSoapObject(lessMarks); SoapSerializationEnvelope envelope = new SoapSerializationEnvelope(SoapEnvelope.VER12); envelope.dotNet = true; envelope.setOutputSoapObject(request); HttpTransportSE androidHttpTransport = new HttpTransportSE(getURL()); androidHttpTransport.debug = true; androidHttpTransport.call(soapAction, envelope); String a = androidHttpTransport.requestDump; String b = androidHttpTransport.responseDump; SoapObject resultsRequestSOAP = (SoapObject) envelope.bodyIn; SoapObject res = (SoapObject) resultsRequestSOAP.getProperty(0); String resultStr = res.getPropertyAsString("Result"); if (resultStr.contentEquals("OK")) { result = true; } return result; } The error I get is as follows: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://www.w3.org/2003/05/soap-envelope" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <soap:Body> <soap:Fault> <soap:Code> <soap:Value>soap:Sender</soap:Value> </soap:Code> <soap:Reason> <soap:Text xml:lang="en">Server was unable to read request. ---&gt; There is an error in XML document (1, 383). ---&gt; The specified type was not recognized: name='LessonMarks', namespace='http://gsdregapp.net/', at &lt;LessonMarks xmlns='http://gsdregapp.net/'&gt;.</soap:Text> </soap:Reason> <soap:Detail /> </soap:Fault> </soap:Body> </soap:Envelope> Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong?   • best tool for monitoring incoming/outgoing requests (PC/MAC)?

    - by dave L
What are the best tools for monitoring incoming/outgoing requests from a PC or MAC? Any tool that works well on both? (my guess is N/A) I'm interested in capturing HTTP (possibly even TCPIP)-based requests and responses. Does Wireshark always come out on top or are there alternatives people feel are better? Thanks for any info.

  • determing server response encoding

    - by user121196

  • JQuery submit form and output response or error message

    - by sergdev
    I want to submit form and show message about result. update_records initializes alert_message to error message. If success I expect that its value is changed. Than update_records outputs message. But the function always alerts "Error submitting form". What is wrong with this? The code follows: function update_records(form_name) { var options = { async: false, alert_message: "Error submitting form", success: function(message) { this.alert_message = message; } }; $('#' + form_name).ajaxSubmit(options); alert(options.alert_message); } I am newbie in Javascript/JSon/Jquery and I suspect that I misunderstand some basics of mentioned technologies. UPDATE: I specified "async:false" to make execution synchronous (Is it correct?) I also tried to insert delay between following two lines: $('#' + form_name).ajaxSubmit(options); pausecomp(1000); // inserted pause alert(options.alert_message); It also does not resolve the issue Function fo pousecomp follows: function pausecomp(millis) { var date = new Date(); var curDate = null; do { curDate = new Date(); } while(curDate-date < millis); }

  • jquery ajax post and response evaluation

    - by Rami
Hello people, i am relatively new to javascript and jquery in particular, so please bear with me, i am trying to loop through multiple s and then serialize() the data with jquery and post it using ajax to my page, this's happening alright, and the data is posted, and my php script echos 1 and everything is taken care off, but for some strange reason, the following code is not working, specially the "success" variable, it's not increasing at all! would you please help me? $('.submitB').click(function(){ var success = 0; var times = 0; var alertText; $('.input').each(function(){ times++; var serializedForms = $(this).serialize(); $.post('<?=$this->config->site_url()?>crud/additem/forms', serializedForms ,function(data){ if (data) { success++; } }); }); if (times) { alertText = "?? ????? " + success + " ???? ?? ??? " + times + " ?????."; alert(alertText); } }) the Arabic text just says "success + Entries from + times + were entered successfully".. thank you in advance.

  • how do I assign a variable to a returned response in jQuery

    - by netrox
I wanted to assign a returned value (just text) to a variable in jQuery. I wrote this: var hm=22; $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "ajax_check_match.php", dataType: "text", success:callback }); function callback(data, status) { // assign ajaxed value to cm variable cm=data; if (hm != cm) { dosomething(); } } But it fails every time. Why is that the cm variable keeps getting undefined when it sends request. I set the php file to return 1 and it still says undefined. I opened ajax_check_match.php in browser and I see "1". I didn't see the point of using XML or JSON since a simple number would suffice. Or do I have to use XML/JSON?

  • Javascript check of a form, not waiting for ajax response

    - by Y.G.J
this is a part of the check in my form function check(theform) { var re = /^\w[0-9A-Za-z]{5,19}$/; if (!re.test(theform.username.value)) { alert("not valid username"); theform.username.focus(); return false; } $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "username.asp", data: "username="+theform.username.value, success: function(msg){ username = msg; if (!username) { alert("username already in use"); return false; } } }); var re = /^\w[0-9A-Za-z]{5,19}$/; if (!re.test(theform.password.value)) { alert("not valid password"); theform.password.focus(); return false; } } for some reason of sync... it check the username then duplicated username with the ajax and not waiting for respond and jump to the password check. i don't want to insert the rest of the code to isreadystate (or what ever it is) because i might move the username duplicate check to the end... and then the function will end before the ajax anyway what should i do?

  • Setting Response.StatusCode in View in ASP.NET MVC2

    - by Guy
I've just converted a project from MVC1 to MVC2. In the MVC1 project the HTTP status code was being set in some of the views. These views are now generating this exception: Server cannot set status after HTTP headers have been sent. What has changed from MVC1 to MVC2 to cause this and is there any way to fix this?

  • How to use xml response as XMLObject outside of ajax callback function

    - by Anthony
Hopefully I've just made a dumb oversight, but I can't figure out why the following doesn't work: $(function() { var xml; $.get( "somexml.xml", function(data){ xml = data; }, "xml"); alert(xml); }); If I put the alert inside of the callback function, I get back object XMLdocument but if I place it outside of the ajax call, I get undefined. Since my goal is to have a new DOM to parse, I don't want the entire handling of the XMLdocument to be within the callback function. I've tried defining the variable outside of the entire onready function, inside at the top (like above) and inside the callback function, all with no luck. According to Specifying the Data Type for Ajax Requests in the jquery documentation, this should be possible.

  • set timeout to http response read method in python

    - by nirtayeb
Hi, I'm building a download manager in python for fun, and sometimes the connection to the server is still on but the server doesn't send me data, so read method (of HTTPResponse) block me forever. This happens, for example, when I download from a server, which located outside of my country, that limit the bandwidth to other countries. How can I set a timeout for the read method (2 minutes for example)? Thanks, Nir.

  • Is there a recommended approach to handle saving data in response to within-site navigation without

    - by Carvell Fenton
Hello all, Preamble to scope my question: I have a web app (or site, this is an internal LAN site) that uses jQuery and AJAX extensively to dynamically load the content section of the UI in the browser. A user navigates the app using a navigation menu. Clicking an item in the navigation menu makes an AJAX call to php, and php then returns the content that is used to populate the central content section. One of the pages served back by php has a table form, set up like a spreadsheet, that the user enters values into. This table is always kept in sync with data in the database. So, when the table is created, is it populated with the relevant database data. Then when the user makes a change in a "cell", that change immediately is written back to the database so the table and database are always in sync. This approach was take to reassure users that the data they entered has been saved (long story...), and to alleviate them from having to click a save button of some kind. So, this always in sync idea is great, except that a user can enter a value in a cell, not take focus out of the cell, and then take any number of actions that would cause that last value to be lost: e.g. navigate to another section of the site via the navigation menu, log out of the app, close the browser, etc. End of preamble, on to the issue: I initially thought that wasn't a problem, because I would just track what data was "dirty" or not saved, and then in the onunload event I would do a final write to the database. Herein lies the rub: because of my clever (or not so clever, not sure) use of AJAX and dynamically loading the content section, the user never actually leaves the original url, or page, when the above actions are taken, with the exception of closing the browser. Therefore, the onunload event does not fire, and I am back to losing the last data again. My question, is there a recommended way to handle figuring out if a person is navigating away from a "section" of your app when content is dynamically loaded this way? I can come up with a solution I think, that involves globals and tracking the currently viewed page, but I thought I would check if there might be a more elegant solution out there, or a change I could make in my design, that would make this work. Thanks in advance as always!

  • DLL response is to slow in Visual Studio

    - by magsto
Hi, I use a 3rd party DLL in my VB.NET project (VS2005) that responds to slow and give wrong values in debug mode. In run-time mode everything works as expected. I do understand that there are something going on in the debug mode which makes the DLL communication slow. This behavior makes it hard to debug the application correctly. Is there any way to force VS to communicate with the DLL in "run-time" mode during debugging but let the rest of the project be in control of the debugger?

  • Rails: generating URLs for actions in JSON response

    - by Chris Butler
In a view I am generating an HTML canvas of figures based on model data in an app. In the view I am preloading JSON model data in the page like this (to avoid an initial request back): <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> <% ActiveRecord::Base.include_root_in_json = false -%> var objects = <%= @objects.to_json(:include => :other_objects) %>; ... Based on mouse (or touch) interaction I want to redirect to other parts of my app that are model specific (such as view, edit, delete, etc.). Rather than hard code the URLs in my JavaScript I want to generate them from Rails (which means it always adapts the latest routes). It seems like I have one of three options: Add an empty attr to the model that the controller fills in with the appropriate URL (we don't want to use routes in the model) before the JSON is generated Generate custom JSON where I add the different URLs manually Generate the URL as a template from Rails and replace the IDs in JavaScript as appropriate I am starting to lean towards #1 for ease of implementation and maintainability. Are there any other options that I am missing? Is #1 not the best? Thanks! Chris

  • ASP.NET MVC 2: Deserialize SPROC Response

    - by dcolumbus
I need to ask a general question. I don't have the code in front of me because I'm writing this on my iPhone. I have a Class that represents a certain XML schema. I have a SPROC that returns this XML. What I need to do is deserialize the XML to this Class. XML: <xml> <person> <firstName>Bob</firstName> <lastName>Robby</lastName> </person> </xml> I need to deserialize this XML into the custom Person Class so I can loop through this Model and spit it out in the View. I'm sure there's some kind of casting involved, I just don't know how to do it.

  • Uncertain response from Combobox SelectedItem

I set the properties of combobox in this sequence combobox.DisplayMember = "cust_name"; combobox.ValueMember="cust_id"; combobox.datasource=dtCustomer; I have used combobox in my application several times, I don't know where I am making mistake as Sometime SelectedItem property returns exact value (int, string) based on the data type of "ValueMember" property, but sometime it returns "DataRowView". I've read this is because of the sequence in which properties are setting in combobox. But this is not the case now. Binding code is Calling code is

  • jQuery Validate PHP Response

    - by Kurt
Hello Everybody, my problem is, I want to validate an email adresse with jquery. Not only the syntax but rather if the email is already registrated. There are some tutorials but they are not working! At first the Jquery Code: <script id="demo" type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { // validate signup form on keyup and submit var validator = $("form#signupform").validate({ rules: { Vorname: { required: true, minlength: 3 }, Nachname:{ required: true, minlength: 4 }, password: { required: true, minlength: 5 }, password_confirm: { required: true, minlength: 5, equalTo: "#password" }, Email: { required: true, email: true, type: "POST", remote: "remotemail.php" }, dateformat: "required", ... </script> And now the PHP Code: <?php include('dbsettings.php'); $conn = mysql_connect($dbhost,$dbuser,$dbpw); mysql_select_db($dbdb,$conn); $auslesen1 = "SELECT Email FROM flo_user"; $auslesen2 = mysql_query($auslesen1,$conn); $registered_email = mysql_fetch_assoc($auslesen2); $requested_email = $_POST['Email']; if( in_array($requested_email, $registered_email) ){ echo "false"; } else{ echo "true"; } ?> I tried return TRUE/ return FALSE as well, but this displays "Email is registrated" all the time. json_encode didn't work as well. Thanks a lot!
