  • When computer turns on: keyboard/mouse/monitor don't work?

    - by dave
    the computer is barely good,at least i think..features Intel core 2 4 GB ram Nvidia Radeon 9600 512 mb Gigabite motherboad (the others i can't remember).. Used this computer for 3 years with no problem...The problem started one day after while it froze everything, then I shut down with removing the electricity power. A few hours later, I tried to log in to the computer but nothing moved. Nor keyboard nor mouse nor monitor worked, I was thinking that should be a delay so I left it some time. After a minute it turned off without my help around 30 seconds then it turned on automatically, but was the same problem like before and it goes again and again...any suggestions? If more info/specs required, let me know.

  • Could 1 GB of RAM work better than 1.25?

    - by user67082
    This is for a server running Ubuntu Server 10.10. The server is an old desktop PC. It had 2 sticks of 256 MB of 182-pin DDR 400 MHz RAM in it (total 512 MB of RAM). I just ordered a 1 GB stick of compatible RAM for the machine (now would have a total of 1.25 GB of RAM). A friend told me that it might run better if I removed both sticks of 256 MB RAM and used just the 1 GB stick I will be receiving. This seems counterintuitive since then there would only be 1 GB of RAM instead of 1.25; is it possible that it would be better to run with 1 GB or is he totally wrong? Thanks for the help.

  • Visual Studio compiles WPF application twice during build

    - by Brian Ensink
    I have a WPF app in VS2008 that compiles twice during the build. The two CSC command lines are similar but with some differences. The first CSC command line does not have an /resource options, the second has two /resource options on the command line. The second CSC command line has these additional arguments: /resource:"obj\Debug AutoCAD\VisualApp.g.resources" /resource:"obj\Debug AutoCAD\CAP.Visual.Properties.Resources.resources" I hate to post such a huge ugly compiler output but here are both command lines. 2>c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\Csc.exe /noconfig /nowarn:1701,1702 /platform:x86 /errorreport:prompt /warn:4 • Problem saving as png a SVG generated by Raphael JS in a canvas

    - by ClemDesm
    Hi fellow SOers, I'm trying to convert a SVG generated by Raphael JS (and the user, since you can drag and rotate the images). I followed this Conversion of SVG to Jpeg but still can't get it. It must be easy but I can't put my finger on what I get wrong. I got my svg in a div with #ec as id and the canvas's one is #canvas. function saveDaPicture(){ var img = document.getElementById('canvas').toDataURL("image/png"); $('body').append('<img src="'+img+'"/>'); } $('#save').click(function(){ var svg = $('#ec').html(); alert(svg); canvg('canvas', svg, {renderCallback: saveDaPicture(), ignoreMouse: true, ignoreAnimation: true}); }); The alert gives me : <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" version="1.1" width="600" height="512"> <desc>Created with Raphael</desc> <defs></defs> <image x="0" y="0" width="300" height="512" preserveAspectRatio="none" href="imageurl.jpg"></image> <rect x="168" y="275" width="52" height="70" r="0" rx="0" ry="0" fill="none" stroke="#000" stroke-dasharray="8,3" transform="rotate(21.91207728 194 310)" style="opacity: 1; display: none; " opacity="1"></rect> <circle cx="50" cy="50" r="50" fill="none" stroke="#000"></circle> <image x="358" y="10" width="39" height="138" preserveAspectRatio="none" href="imageurl2.png" style="cursor: move; "></image> <image x="397" y="10" width="99" height="153" preserveAspectRatio="none" href="imageurl3.png" style="cursor: move; "></image> <image x="184" y="286" width="10" height="10" preserveAspectRatio="none" href="imageurl4.png" style="cursor: pointer; opacity: 1; display: none; " opacity="1"></image> <image x="204" y="286" width="10" height="10" preserveAspectRatio="none" href="imageurl5.png" style="cursor: pointer; opacity: 1; display: none; " opacity="1"></image> <image x="170" y="277" width="48" height="66" preserveAspectRatio="none" href="imageurl6.png" style="cursor: move; opacity: 1; " r="50" opacity="1" transform="rotate(21.91207728 194 310)"></image> </svg> which is the xml of the svg and if I believe canvg documentation, it's good. Anyway, with this code, the variable img, which should have the converted image data, got the data of an empty png with the dimensions of the svg. The only thing I guess is that the svg generated by Raphael JS is not well formated for canvg (like, href of image should be xlink:href if I follow the W3C recommandations ) Anyone got an idea on this problem ? :D

  • Multidimensional array problem in VHDL?

    - by Nektarios
    I'm trying to use a multidimensional array in VHDL and I'm having a lot of trouble getting it to work properly. My issue is that I've got an array of 17, of 16 vectors, of a given size. What I want to do is create 17 registers that are array of 16 * std_logic_vector of 32 bits (which = my b, 512). So, I'm trying to pass in something to input and output on the register instantiation that tells the compiler/synthesizer that I want to pass in something that is 512 bits worth... Similar to in C if I had: int var[COLS][ROWS][ELEMENTS]; memcpy(&var[3].. // I'm talking about 3rd COL here, passing in memory that is ROWS*ELEMENTS long (My actual declaration is here:) type partial_pipeline_registers_type is array (0 to 16, 0 to 15) of std_logic_vector(iw - 1 downto 0); signal h_blk_pipelined_input : partial_pipeline_registers_type; I tried simply using h_blk_pipelined_input(0) .. up to (16) but this doesn't work. I get the following error, which makes me see that I need to double index in to the array: ERROR:HDLParsers:821 - (at the register) Wrong index type for h_blk_pipelined_input. So then I tried what's below, and I get this error: ERROR:HDLParsers:164 - (at the register code). parse error, unexpected TO, expecting COMMA or CLOSEPAR instantiate_h_pipelined_reg : regn generic map ( N=> b, init => bzeros ) port map ( clk => clk , rst => '0', en => '1', input => h_blk_pipelined_input((i - 1), 0 to 15), output=> h_blk_pipelined_input((i), 0 to 15)); -- Changing 0 to 15 to (0 to 15) has no effect... I'm using XST, and from their documentation (http://www.xilinx.com/itp/xilinx6/books/data/docs/xst/xst0067_9.html), the above should have worked: ...declaration: subtype MATRIX15 is array(4 downto 0, 2 downto 0) of STD_LOGIC_VECTOR (7 downto 0); A multi-dimensional array signal or variable can be completely used: Just a slice of one row can be specified: MATRIX15 (4,4 downto 1) <= TAB_B (3 downto 0); One alternative is that I can create more registers that are 16 times smaller, and instead of trying to do all '0 to 15' at once, I would just do that 15 additional times. However, I think this may lead to inefficiency in synthesis and I don't feel like this is the right solution. EDIT: Tried what Ben said, instantiate_h_m_qa_pipeline_registers: for i in 1 to 16 generate instantiate_h_pipelined_reg : regn generic map ( N=> b, init => bzeros ) port map ( clk => clk , rst => '0', en => '1', input => h_blk_pipelined_input(i - 1), output=> h_blk_pipelined_input(i)); end generate instantiate_h_m_qa_pipeline_registers; The signals are now defined as: type std_logic_block is array (0 to 15) of std_logic_vector(iw - 1 downto 0) ; type partial_pipeline_registers_type is array (0 to 16) of std_logic_block; signal h_blk_pipelined_input : partial_pipeline_registers_type; And the error I get from XST is: ERROR:HDLParsers:800 - ((where the register part is)) Type of input is incompatible with type of h_blk_pipelined_input. I'm able to do everything I was able to do before, using ()() syntax instead of ( , ) so I haven't lost anything going this way, but it still doesn't resolve my problem.

  • How to reduce virtual memory by optimising my PHP code?

    - by iCeR
    My current code (see below) uses 147MB of virtual memory! My provider has allocated 100MB by default and the process is killed once run, causing an internal error. The code is utilising curl multi and must be able to loop with more than 150 iterations whilst still minimizing the virtual memory. The code below is only set at 150 iterations and still causes the internal server error. At 90 iterations the issue does not occur. How can I adjust my code to lower the resource use / virtual memory? Thanks! <?php function udate($format, $utimestamp = null) { if ($utimestamp === null) $utimestamp = microtime(true); $timestamp = floor($utimestamp); $milliseconds = round(($utimestamp - $timestamp) * 1000); return date(preg_replace('`(?<!\\\\)u`', $milliseconds, $format), $timestamp); } $url = 'https://www.testdomain.com/'; $curl_arr = array(); $master = curl_multi_init(); for($i=0; $i<150; $i++) { $curl_arr[$i] = curl_init(); curl_setopt($curl_arr[$i], CURLOPT_URL, $url); curl_setopt($curl_arr[$i], CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); curl_setopt($curl_arr[$i], CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST, FALSE); curl_setopt($curl_arr[$i], CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, FALSE); curl_multi_add_handle($master, $curl_arr[$i]); } do { curl_multi_exec($master,$running); } while($running > 0); for($i=0; $i<150; $i++) { $results = curl_multi_getcontent ($curl_arr[$i]); $results = explode("<br>", $results); echo $results[0]; echo "<br>"; echo $results[1]; echo "<br>"; echo udate('H:i:s:u'); echo "<br><br>"; usleep(100000); } ?> Processor Information Total processors: 8 Processor #1 Vendor GenuineIntel Name Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5405 @ 2.00GHz Speed 1995.120 MHz Cache 6144 KB Processor #2 Vendor GenuineIntel Name Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5405 @ 2.00GHz Speed 1995.120 MHz Cache 6144 KB Processor #3 Vendor GenuineIntel Name Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5405 @ 2.00GHz Speed 1995.120 MHz Cache 6144 KB Processor #4 Vendor GenuineIntel Name Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5405 @ 2.00GHz Speed 1995.120 MHz Cache 6144 KB Processor #5 Vendor GenuineIntel Name Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5405 @ 2.00GHz Speed 1995.120 MHz Cache 6144 KB Processor #6 Vendor GenuineIntel Name Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5405 @ 2.00GHz Speed 1995.120 MHz Cache 6144 KB Processor #7 Vendor GenuineIntel Name Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5405 @ 2.00GHz Speed 1995.120 MHz Cache 6144 KB Processor #8 Vendor GenuineIntel Name Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5405 @ 2.00GHz Speed 1995.120 MHz Cache 6144 KB Memory Information Memory for crash kernel (0x0 to 0x0) notwithin permissible range Memory: 8302344k/9175040k available (2176k kernel code, 80272k reserved, 901k data, 228k init, 7466304k highmem) System Information Linux server3.server.com 2.6.18-194.17.1.el5PAE #1 SMP Wed Sep 29 13:31:51 EDT 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux Physical Disks SCSI device sda: 1952448512 512-byte hdwr sectors (999654 MB) sda: Write Protect is off sda: Mode Sense: 03 00 00 08 SCSI device sda: drive cache: write back SCSI device sda: 1952448512 512-byte hdwr sectors (999654 MB) sda: Write Protect is off sda: Mode Sense: 03 00 00 08 SCSI device sda: drive cache: write back sd 0:1:0:0: Attached scsi disk sda sd 4:0:0:0: Attached scsi removable disk sdb sd 0:1:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg4 type 0 sd 4:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg7 type 0 Current Memory Usage total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 8306672 7847384 459288 0 487912 6444548 -/+ buffers/cache: 914924 7391748 Swap: 4095992 496 4095496 Total: 12402664 7847880 4554784 Current Disk Usage Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00 898G 307G 546G 36% / /dev/sda1 99M 19M 76M 20% /boot none 4.0G 0 4.0G 0% /dev/shm /var/tmpMnt 4.0G 1.8G 2.0G 48% /tmp

  • Java deadlock problem....

    - by markovuksanovic
    I am using java sockets for communication. On the client side I have some processing and at this point I send an object to the cient. The code is as follows: while (true) { try { Socket server = new Socket("localhost", 3000); OutputStream os = server.getOutputStream(); InputStream is = server.getInputStream(); CommMessage commMessage = new CommMessageImpl(); ByteArrayOutputStream bos = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); ObjectOutputStream oos = new ObjectOutputStream(bos); oos.writeObject(commMessage); os.write(bos.toByteArray()); os.flush(); byte[] buff = new byte[512]; int bytesRead = 0; ByteArrayOutputStream receivedObject = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); while ((bytesRead = is.read(buff)) > -1) { receivedObject.write(buff, 0, bytesRead); System.out.println(receivedObject); } os.close(); Thread.sleep(10000); } catch (IOException e) { } catch (InterruptedException e) { } } Next on the server side I have the following code to read the object and write the response (Which is just an echo message) public void startServer() { Socket client = null; try { server = new ServerSocket(3000); logger.log(Level.INFO, "Waiting for connections."); client = server.accept(); logger.log(Level.INFO, "Accepted a connection from: " + client.getInetAddress()); os = new ObjectOutputStream(client.getOutputStream()); is = new ObjectInputStream(client.getInputStream()); // Read contents of the stream and store it into a byte array. byte[] buff = new byte[512]; int bytesRead = 0; ByteArrayOutputStream receivedObject = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); while ((bytesRead = is.read(buff)) > -1) { receivedObject.write(buff, 0, bytesRead); } // Check if received stream is CommMessage or not contents. CommMessage commMessage = getCommMessage(receivedObject); if (commMessage != null) { commMessage.setSessionState(this.sessionManager.getState().getState()); ByteArrayOutputStream bos = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); ObjectOutputStream oos = new ObjectOutputStream(bos); oos.writeObject(commMessage); os.write(bos.toByteArray()); System.out.println(commMessage.getCommMessageType()); } else { processData(receivedObject, this.sessionManager); } os.flush(); } catch (IOException e) { } finally { try { is.close(); os.close(); client.close(); server.close(); } catch (IOException e) { } } } The above code works ok if I do not try to read data on the client side (If i exclude the code related to reading). But if I have that code, for some reason, I get some kind of deadlock when accessing input streams. Any ideas what I might have done wrong? Thanks in advance.

  • Program using read() entering into an infinite loop

    - by Soham
    1oid ReadBinary(char *infile,HXmap* AssetMap) { int fd; size_t bytes_read, bytes_expected = 100000000*sizeof(char); char *data; if ((fd = open(infile,O_RDONLY)) < 0) err(EX_NOINPUT, "%s", infile); if ((data = malloc(bytes_expected)) == NULL) err(EX_OSERR, "data malloc"); bytes_read = read(fd, data, bytes_expected); if (bytes_read != bytes_expected) printf("Read only %d of %d bytes %d\n", \ bytes_read, bytes_expected,EX_DATAERR); /* ... operate on data ... */ printf("\n"); int i=0; int counter=0; char ch=data[0]; char message[512]; Message* newMessage; while(i!=bytes_read) { while(ch!='\n') { message[counter]=ch; i++; counter++; ch =data[i]; } message[counter]='\n'; message[counter+1]='\0'; //--------------------------------------------------- newMessage = (Message*)parser(message); MessageProcess(newMessage,AssetMap); //-------------------------------------------------- //printf("idNUM %e\n",newMessage->idNum); free(newMessage); i++; counter=0; ch =data[i]; } free(data); } Here, I have allocated 100MB of data with malloc, and passed a file big enough(not 500MB) size of 926KB about. When I pass small files, it reads and exits like a charm, but when I pass a big enough file, the program executes till some point after which it just hangs. I suspect it either entered an infinite loop, or there is memory leak. EDIT For better understanding I stripped away all unnecessary function calls, and checked what happens, when given a large file as input. I have attached the modified code void ReadBinary(char *infile,HXmap* AssetMap) { int fd; size_t bytes_read, bytes_expected = 500000000*sizeof(char); char *data; if ((fd = open(infile,O_RDONLY)) < 0) err(EX_NOINPUT, "%s", infile); if ((data = malloc(bytes_expected)) == NULL) err(EX_OSERR, "data malloc"); bytes_read = read(fd, data, bytes_expected); if (bytes_read != bytes_expected) printf("Read only %d of %d bytes %d\n", \ bytes_read, bytes_expected,EX_DATAERR); /* ... operate on data ... */ printf("\n"); int i=0; int counter=0; char ch=data[0]; char message[512]; while(i<=bytes_read) { while(ch!='\n') { message[counter]=ch; i++; counter++; ch =data[i]; } message[counter]='\n'; message[counter+1]='\0'; i++; printf("idNUM \n"); counter=0; ch =data[i]; } free(data); } What looks like is, it prints a whole lot of idNUM's and then poof segmentation fault I think this is an interesting behaviour, and to me it looks like there is some problem with memory FURTHER EDIT I changed back the i!=bytes_read it gives no segmentation fault. When I check for i<=bytes_read it blows past the limits in the innerloop.(courtesy gdb)

  • Ubuntu 12.04 on Amazon EC2: /dev/xvda1 will be checked for errors at next reboot?

    - by cwd
    I'm running the lastest Ubuntu 12.04 AMI (ami-a29943cb) from Canonical on Amazon EC2 and quite often when I log in I get the message: *** /dev/xvda1 will be checked for errors at next reboot *** I have read a bunch of documentation on this and seem to understand that every so many reboots (around 37 see Mount count / Maximum mount count below) Ubuntu wants to check a disk for errors. I can see that by using dumpe2fs -h /dev/xvda1 (reference) to get information such as: Last mounted on: / Filesystem UUID: 1ad27d06-4ecf-493d-bb19-4710c3caf924 Filesystem magic number: 0xEF53 Filesystem revision #: 1 (dynamic) Filesystem features: has_journal ext_attr resize_inode dir_index filetype needs_recovery extent flex_bg sparse_super large_file huge_file uninit_bg dir_nlink extra_isize Filesystem flags: signed_directory_hash Default mount options: (none) Filesystem state: clean Errors behavior: Continue Filesystem OS type: Linux Inode count: 524288 Block count: 2097152 Reserved block count: 104857 Free blocks: 1778055 Free inodes: 482659 First block: 0 Block size: 4096 Fragment size: 4096 Reserved GDT blocks: 511 Blocks per group: 32768 Fragments per group: 32768 Inodes per group: 8192 Inode blocks per group: 512 Flex block group size: 16 Filesystem created: Tue Apr 24 03:07:48 2012 Last mount time: Thu Nov 8 03:17:58 2012 Last write time: Tue Apr 24 03:08:52 2012 Mount count: 3 Maximum mount count: 37 Last checked: Tue Apr 24 03:07:48 2012 Check interval: 15552000 (6 months) Next check after: Sun Oct 21 03:07:48 2012 Lifetime writes: 2454 MB Reserved blocks uid: 0 (user root) Reserved blocks gid: 0 (group root) First inode: 11 Inode size: 256 Required extra isize: 28 Desired extra isize: 28 Journal inode: 8 Default directory hash: half_md4 Directory Hash Seed: 0a25e04c-6169-4d68-bfa6-a1acd8e39632 Journal backup: inode blocks Journal features: journal_incompat_revoke Journal size: 128M Journal length: 32768 Journal sequence: 0x0000158b Journal start: 1 I've tried these things to get rid of the message and usually the badblocks is what does it for me: Run this command and reboot: sudo touch /forcefsck Run badblocks to check the disk: badblocks /dev/sda1 Edit /etc/fstab and change the last "0" which is the fs_passno column accordingly and then reboot: The root filesystem should be specified with a fs_passno of 1, and other filesystems should have a fs_passno of 2. I've installed Ubuntu 11.10 on a new Lenovo Thinkpad 420s and I'm trying to get some VirtualBox VMs up and running (using Vagrant). Everything works fine until I try to add host-only networking. This is the failure I get in the terminal: I set logging to debug and tried again. Here's a paste of the relevant portion of the log. When I try to add host-only networks with the VirtualBox gui (File-Preferences-Networking-Add host-only networking), I get the following error message: This error is occurring with three different virtual boxes, all Ubuntu 11.10 64bit guests, one of which I've run without issue on a Windows host and an OSX host. Here is the Vagrantfile for the box I've successfully run on Windows and OSX: Vagrant::Config.run do |config| config.vm.box = "ubuntu-11.10" config.vm.box_url = "http://timhuegdon.com/vagrant-boxes/ubuntu-11.10.box" config.vm.network :hostonly, "192.168.33.10" config.vm.customize ["modifyvm", :id, "--memory", "512"] config.vm.customize ["modifyvm", :id, "--natnet1", "10.0.28.0/24"] config.vm.forward_port 80, 4567 end I've tried two other boxes as well, one of which I built last night with veewee, all of which are getting the exact same error. I've used rvm to install ruby 1.9.3-p125 [ x86_64 ], and I've got Vagrant running in its own gemset. I've Googled quite a lot and haven't been able to find any resolution. Suggestions?

  • How do I get a Dane-Elec mp3/mp4 player working?

    - by user40432
    My MP3/MP4 does not plug-in and play and therefore I can not transfer any file to the MP3/MP4 dane-elec music my touch or only dane-elec with 8 gb in memory and perhapses model zt1 with radio,..and microsdhc card slot following the above link the mp3/mp4 is there and it is MP3 Player: TOUCH MY MUSIC and the complete information is on this site http://www.danedigital.com/8-Music-Media-Players/2-music-touch.html as the Technical Specifications MP3 Player: TOUCH MY MUSIC The Mp4 player has a very classy. It allows its users to play music and view photos and video. His fluent interface, its touch-pad, his radio and RDS Micro SDHC reader makes him a very complete device will become the ideal musical companion. ubuntu i am with is ubuntu 11.10 kernel 3.0.0-14-generic the latest I tried to install many applications but nothing worked. With disk utility I can see that Ubuntu can recognize something, that as a peripheral device named rockchip usbdisk user and rockchip usbdisk sd, and i can plug and play other devices, and only this mp3/mp4 do not connect to the computer with ubuntu and the device as no problem working disconnected to computer I try to see if work on Windows and it does! I can see the device and transfer files to the MP3/MP4 dane-elec folder device and use FAT32. So why can not do on Ubuntu!? What can I do and why does not work on Ubuntu? What is wrong with it? • Allen for Umbraco - Upload photos from your iPhone - iPad and iPod Touch

    - by Vizioz Limited
    At last year's UK Umbraco Festival we gave a demo of our alpha version of Allen for Umbraco, at that stage the application only worked on an iPhone and was a very quick prototype to see what people thought.When we returned to our office the next day, we decided if we were going to release Allen for Umbraco into the wild we really should start again from scratch, the main two reasons for this were;First to ensure it was a truly Universal application ( i.e. it can be installed on an iPhone, iPad or iPod ) which looks and behaves differently depending on the device. The second reason was we really wanted the application to be the foundations of more than just image uploading for Umbraco, for this to be the case we ensured the new version was built following proven design patterns and with lots of unit tests so that we can easily extended it.We have lots of plans for future versions of Allen for Umbraco including adding iCloud support to keep all your settings in sync across your multiple Apple devices. We are also working on support for Umbraco 5 which should be release soon.When you download the App and setup your site, make sure you have a look at the Image Resizing settings, by default we have set these to resize your images to 512 pixels wide, however you can choose from a variety of different resizing methods (by Height, Width, Fit within a frame or the full size image).Also, by default when you select a photo you will see that the image is named with it's date and time stamp of when the photograph was taken (or the current date and time if the original date is not stored in your image). If you click on this name you can edit the name of your photo before it is uploaded.Finally, we are really keep to get your feedback, so within the App help section you will find a way to submit Suggestions and if needed, you can send up Support emails from within the App :)We hope you enjoy the first version of Allen for Umbraco and we look forward to bringing you lots of exciting additional functionality in the future!

When I try to use sudo ldapadd -x -D cn=admin,dc=don,dc=com -W -f frontend.ldif I'm getting the following error: Enter LDAP Password: <entered 'secret' as password> adding new entry "dc=don,dc=com" ldap_add: Naming violation (64) additional info: value of single-valued naming attribute 'dc' conflicts with value present in entry Again when I try to do the same, I'm getting the following error: root@avy-desktop:/home/avy# sudo ldapadd -x -D cn=admin,dc=don,dc=com -W -f frontend.ldif Enter LDAP Password: ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49) Here is the backend.ldif file: # Load dynamic backend modules dn: cn=module,cn=config objectClass: olcModuleList cn: module olcModulepath: /usr/lib/ldap olcModuleload: back_hdb # Database settings dn: olcDatabase=hdb,cn=config objectClass: olcDatabaseConfig objectClass: olcHdbConfig olcDatabase: {1}hdb olcSuffix: dc=don,dc=com olcDbDirectory: /var/lib/ldap olcRootDN: cn=admin,dc=don,dc=com olcRootPW: secret olcDbConfig: set_cachesize 0 2097152 0 olcDbConfig: set_lk_max_objects 1500 olcDbConfig: set_lk_max_locks 1500 olcDbConfig: set_lk_max_lockers 1500 olcDbIndex: objectClass eq olcLastMod: TRUE olcDbCheckpoint: 512 30 olcAccess: to attrs=userPassword by dn="cn=admin,dc=don,dc=com" write by anonymous auth by self write by * none olcAccess: to attrs=shadowLastChange by self write by * read olcAccess: to dn.base="" by * read olcAccess: to * by dn="cn=admin,dc=don,dc=com" write by * read frontend.ldif file: # Create top-level object in domain dn: dc=don,dc=com objectClass: top objectClass: dcObject objectclass: organization o: Example Organization dc: Example description: LDAP Example # Admin user. dn: cn=admin,dc=don,dc=com objectClass: simpleSecurityObject objectClass: organizationalRole cn: admin description: LDAP administrator userPassword: secret dn: ou=people,dc=don,dc=com objectClass: organizationalUnit ou: people dn: ou=groups,dc=don,dc=com objectClass: organizationalUnit ou: groups dn: uid=john,ou=people,dc=don,dc=com objectClass: inetOrgPerson objectClass: posixAccount objectClass: shadowAccount uid: john sn: Doe givenName: John cn: John Doe displayName: John Doe uidNumber: 1000 gidNumber: 10000 userPassword: password gecos: John Doe loginShell: /bin/bash homeDirectory: /home/john shadowExpire: -1 shadowFlag: 0 shadowWarning: 7 shadowMin: 8 shadowMax: 999999 shadowLastChange: 10877 mail: [email protected] postalCode: 31000 l: Toulouse o: Example mobile: +33 (0)6 xx xx xx xx homePhone: +33 (0)5 xx xx xx xx title: System Administrator postalAddress: initials: JD dn: cn=example,ou=groups,dc=don,dc=com objectClass: posixGroup cn: example gidNumber: 10000 Can anyone help me?

  • Juju Zookeeper & Provisioning Agent Not Deployed

    - by Keith Tobin
    I am using juju with the openstack provider, i expected that when i bootstrap that zookeeper and provisioning agent would get deployed on the bootstrap vm in openstack. This dose not seem to be the case. the bootstrap vm gets deployed but it seems that nothing gets deployed to the VM. See logs below, I may be missing something, also how is it possible to log on the bootstrap vm. Could I manual deploy, if so what do I need to do. • Virtualbox does not run: NS_ERROR_FAILURE

    - by dschinn1001
    here is ubuntu 12.10 virtual-box is somehow not working: I was trying to install win7 on to an usb-hard-disk. boinc is switched off and RAM-size is set to 4096 MB (too big ? of possible 8 Gibi ) report of virtual-box is: the com-object for virtualbox could not be created. the application is now ended. Start tag expected, '&lt;' not found. Location: '/home/$user/.VirtualBox/VirtualBox.xml', line 1 (0), column 1. /build/buildd/virtualbox-4.1.18-dfsg/src/VBox/Main/src-server/VirtualBoxImpl.cpp[484] (nsresult VirtualBox::init()). Fehlercode:NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005) Komponente:VirtualBox Interface:IVirtualBox {c28be65f-1a8f-43b4-81f1-eb60cb516e66} comment of me: why is virtualbox installing xml into folder of $user in .VirtualBox ? should it not be on usb-harddisk ? (with 500 Gibi ) first installation attempt was breaking off (with win7 in 64Bit) should I try virtual-box (ubuntu 64Bit) with win7 in 32Bit ? should I leave RAM-size of virtual-box to default 512 MB ? thanks for reply

  • Reading from a staging 2D texture array in DirectX10

    - by Don Reba
    I have a DX10 program, where I create an array of 3 16x16 textures, then map, read, and unmap each subresource in turn. I use a single mip level, set resource usage to staging and CPU access to read. Now, here is the problem: Subresource 0 contains 1024 bytes, pitch 64, as expected. Subresource 1 contains 512 bytes, pitch 64. Subresource 2 contains 256 bytes, pitch 64. I expect all three to be the same size. Debugging output is enabled, but not reporting any warnings or errors. Am I missing something, or might this be some sort of driver issue? Here is the code. The language is Nemerle, but C# and C++ would look almost the same. I have looked through the generated code, and am fairly confident the problem is not language-related. def cpuTexture = Texture2D ( device , Texture2DDescription() <- { Width = 16; Height = 16; MipLevels = 1; ArraySize = 3; Format = Format.R32_Float; Usage = ResourceUsage.Staging; CpuAccessFlags = CpuAccessFlags.Read; SampleDescription = SampleDescription(count = 1, quality = 0); } ); foreach (subresource in [0 .. 2]) { def data = cpuTexture.Map(subresource, MapMode.Read, MapFlags.None); Console.WriteLine($"subresource $subresource"); Console.WriteLine($"length = $(data.Data.Length)"); Console.WriteLine($"pitch = $(data.Pitch)"); cpuTexture.Unmap(subresource); }

  • SQL SERVER – Get Directory Structure using Extended Stored Procedure xp_dirtree

    - by pinaldave
    Many years ago I wrote article SQL SERVER – Get a List of Fixed Hard Drive and Free Space on Server where I demonstrated using undocumented Stored Procedure to find the drive letter in local system and available free space. I received question in email from reader asking if there any way he can list directory structure within the T-SQL. When I inquired more he suggested that he needs this because he wanted set up backup of the data in certain structure. Well, there is one undocumented stored procedure exists which can do the same. However, please be vary to use any undocumented procedures. xp_dirtree 'C:\Windows' Execution of the above stored procedure will give following result. If you prefer you can insert the data in the temptable and use the same for further use. Here is the quick script which will insert the data into the temptable and retrieve from the same. CREATE TABLE #TempTable (Subdirectory VARCHAR(512), Depth INT); INSERT INTO #TempTable (Subdirectory, Depth) EXEC xp_dirtree 'C:\Windows' SELECT Subdirectory, Depth FROM #TempTable; DROP TABLE #TempTable; Reference: Pinal Dave (http://blog.SQLAuthority.com) Filed under: Pinal Dave, PostADay, SQL, SQL Authority, SQL Query, SQL Server, SQL Stored Procedure, SQL Tips and Tricks, SQLServer, T SQL, Technology

  • Optimizing MySQL -

    - by Josh
    I've been researching how to optimize MySQL a bit, but I still have a few questions. MySQL Primer Results http://pastie.org/private/lzjukl8wacxfjbjhge6vw Based on this, the first problem seems to be that the max_connections limit is too low. I had a similar problem with Apache initially, the max connection limit was set to 100, and the web server would frequently lock up and take an excruciatingly long time to deliver pages. Raising the connection limit to 512 fixed this issue, and I read that raising the connection limit on MySQL to match this was considered good practice. Being that MySQL has actually been "locking up" recently as well (connections have been refused entirely for a few minutes at a time at random intervals) I'm assuming this is the main cause of the issue. However, as far as table cache goes, I'm not sure what I should set this as. I've read that setting this too high can hinder performance further, so should I raise this to right around 551, 560, 600, or do something else? Lastly, as far as raising the join_buffer_size value goes, this doesn't even seem to be included in Debian's my.cnf file by default. Assuming there's not much I can do about adding indexes, should I look into raising this? Any suggested values? Any suggestions in general here would be appreciated as well. Edit: Here's the number of open tables the MySQL server is reporting. I believe this value is related to my question (Opened_tables: 22574)

  • New Enhancements for InnoDB Memcached

    - by Calvin Sun
    In MySQL 5.6, we continued our development on InnoDB Memcached and completed a few widely desirable features that make InnoDB Memcached a competitive feature in more scenario. Notablely, they are 1) Support multiple table mapping 2) Added background thread to auto-commit long running transactions 3) Enhancement in binlog performance  Let’s go over each of these features one by one. And in the last section, we will go over a couple of internally performed performance tests. Support multiple table mapping In our earlier release, all InnoDB Memcached operations are mapped to a single InnoDB table. In the real life, user might want to use this InnoDB Memcached features on different tables. Thus being able to support access to different table at run time, and having different mapping for different connections becomes a very desirable feature. And in this GA release, we allow user just be able to do both. We will discuss the key concepts and key steps in using this feature. 1) "mapping name" in the "get" and "set" command In order to allow InnoDB Memcached map to a new table, the user (DBA) would still require to "pre-register" table(s) in InnoDB Memcached “containers” table (there is security consideration for this requirement). If you would like to know about “containers” table, please refer to my earlier blogs in blogs.innodb.com. Once registered, the InnoDB Memcached will then be able to look for such table when they are referred. Each of such registered table will have a unique "registration name" (or mapping_name) corresponding to the “name” field in the “containers” table.. To access these tables, user will include such "registration name" in their get or set commands, in the form of "get @@new_mapping_name.key", prefix "@@" is required for signaling a mapped table change. The key and the "mapping name" are separated by a configurable delimiter, by default, it is ".". So the syntax is: get [@@mapping_name.]key_name set [@@mapping_name.]key_name  or  get @@mapping_name set @@mapping_name Here is an example: Let's set up three tables in the "containers" table: The first is a map to InnoDB table "test/demo_test" table with mapping name "setup_1" INSERT INTO containers VALUES ("setup_1", "test", "demo_test", "c1", "c2", "c3", "c4", "c5", "PRIMARY");  Similarly, we set up table mappings for table "test/new_demo" with name "setup_2" and that to table "mydatabase/my_demo" with name "setup_3": INSERT INTO containers VALUES ("setup_2", "test", "new_demo", "c1", "c2", "c3", "c4", "c5", "secondary_index_x"); INSERT INTO containers VALUES ("setup_3", "my_database", "my_demo", "c1", "c2", "c3", "c4", "c5", "idx"); To switch to table "my_database/my_demo", and get the value corresponding to “key_a”, user will do: get @@setup_3.key_a (this will also output the value that corresponding to key "key_a" or simply get @@setup_3 Once this is done, this connection will switch to "my_database/my_demo" table until another table mapping switch is requested. so it can continue issue regular command like: get key_b  set key_c 0 0 7 These DMLs will all be directed to "my_database/my_demo" table. And this also implies that different connections can have different bindings (to different table). 2) Delimiter: For the delimiter "." that separates the "mapping name" and key value, we also added a configure option in the "config_options" system table with name of "table_map_delimiter": INSERT INTO config_options VALUES("table_map_delimiter", "."); So if user wants to change to a different delimiter, they can change it in the config_option table. 3) Default mapping: Once we have multiple table mapping, there should be always a "default" map setting. For this, we decided if there exists a mapping name of "default", then this will be chosen as default mapping. Otherwise, the first row of the containers table will chosen as default setting. Please note, user tables can be repeated in the "containers" table (for example, user wants to access different columns of the table in different settings), as long as they are using different mapping/configure names in the first column, which is enforced by a unique index. 4) bind command In addition, we also extend the protocol and added a bind command, its usage is fairly straightforward. To switch to "setup_3" mapping above, you simply issue: bind setup_3 This will switch this connection's InnoDB table to "my_database/my_demo" In summary, with this feature, you now can direct access to difference tables with difference session. And even a single connection, you can query into difference tables. Background thread to auto-commit long running transactions This is a feature related to the “batch” concept we discussed in earlier blogs. This “batch” feature allows us batch the read and write operations, and commit them only after certain calls. The “batch” size is controlled by the configure parameter “daemon_memcached_w_batch_size” and “daemon_memcached_r_batch_size”. This could significantly boost performance. However, it also comes with some disadvantages, for example, you will not be able to view “uncommitted” operations from SQL end unless you set transaction isolation level to read_uncommitted, and in addition, this will held certain row locks for extend period of time that might reduce the concurrency. To deal with this, we introduce a background thread that “auto-commits” the transaction if they are idle for certain amount of time (default is 5 seconds). The background thread will wake up every second and loop through every “connections” opened by Memcached, and check for idle transactions. And if such transaction is idle longer than certain limit and not being used, it will commit such transactions. This limit is configurable by change “innodb_api_bk_commit_interval”. Its default value is 5 seconds, and minimum is 1 second, and maximum is 1073741824 seconds. With the help of such background thread, you will not need to worry about long running uncommitted transactions when set daemon_memcached_w_batch_size and daemon_memcached_r_batch_size to a large number. This also reduces the number of locks that could be held due to long running transactions, and thus further increase the concurrency. Enhancement in binlog performance As you might all know, binlog operation is not done by InnoDB storage engine, rather it is handled in the MySQL layer. In order to support binlog operation through InnoDB Memcached, we would have to artificially create some MySQL constructs in order to access binlog handler APIs. In previous lab release, for simplicity consideration, we open and destroy these MySQL constructs (such as THD) for each operations. This required us to set the “batch” size always to 1 when binlog is on, no matter what “daemon_memcached_w_batch_size” and “daemon_memcached_r_batch_size” are configured to. This put a big restriction on our capability to scale, and also there are quite a bit overhead in creating destroying such constructs that bogs the performance down. With this release, we made necessary change that would keep MySQL constructs as long as they are valid for a particular connection. So there will not be repeated and redundant open and close (table) calls. And now even with binlog option is enabled (with innodb_api_enable_binlog,), we still can batch the transactions with daemon_memcached_w_batch_size and daemon_memcached_r_batch_size, thus scale the write/read performance. Although there are still overheads that makes InnoDB Memcached cannot perform as fast as when binlog is turned off. It is much better off comparing to previous release. And we are continuing optimize the solution is this area to improve the performance as much as possible. Performance Study: Amerandra of our System QA team have conducted some performance studies on queries through our InnoDB Memcached connection and plain SQL end. And it shows some interesting results. The test is conducted on a “Linux 2.6.32-300.7.1.el6uek.x86_64 ix86 (64)” machine with 16 GB Memory, Intel Xeon 2.0 GHz CPU X86_64 2 CPUs- 4 Core Each, 2 RAID DISKS (1027 GB,733.9GB). Results are described in following tables: Table 1: Performance comparison on Set operations Connections 5.6.7-RC-Memcached-plugin ( TPS / Qps) with memcached-threads=8*** 5.6.7-RC* X faster Set (QPS) Set** 8 30,000 5,600 5.36 32 59,000 13,000 4.54 128 68,000 8,000 8.50 512 63,000 6.800 9.23 * mysql-5.6.7-rc-linux2.6-x86_64 ** The “set” operation when implemented in InnoDB Memcached involves a couple of DMLs: it first query the table to see whether the “key” exists, if it does not, the new key/value pair will be inserted. If it does exist, the “value” field of matching row (by key) will be updated. So when used in above query, it is a precompiled store procedure, and query will just execute such procedures. *** added “–daemon_memcached_option=-t8” (default is 4 threads) So we can see with this “set” query, InnoDB Memcached can run 4.5 to 9 time faster than MySQL server. Table 2: Performance comparison on Get operations Connections 5.6.7-RC-Memcached-plugin ( TPS / Qps) with memcached-threads=8 5.6.7-RC* X faster Get (QPS) Get 8 42,000 27,000 1.56 32 101,000 55.000 1.83 128 117,000 52,000 2.25 512 109,000 52,000 2.10 With the “get” query (or the select query), memcached performs 1.5 to 2 times faster than normal SQL. Summary: In summary, we added several much-desired features to InnoDB Memcached in this release, allowing user to operate on different tables with this Memcached interface. We also now provide a background commit thread to commit long running idle transactions, thus allow user to configure large batch write/read without worrying about large number of rows held or not being able to see (uncommit) data. We also greatly enhanced the performance when Binlog is enabled. We will continue making efforts in both performance enhancement and functionality areas to make InnoDB Memcached a good demo case for our InnoDB APIs. Jimmy Yang, September 29, 2012

  • Installation Problems & Antivirus

    - by Sagar Walvekar
    We have just migrated our systems from Windows to Ubuntu. We have more than 50 systems previously running Windows XP & Windows 7. After the release of 12.04 we decided to switch to Ubuntu. While we were installing Ubuntu 12.04 on Pentium 4 systems we have faced some issues. We tried it with a USB flash driver & CD. The typical configuration of the system is as follows: Pentium 4 with HT & 512 MB RAM, 40/80 GB IDE / SATA HDD. In windows there were several partitions and data on all the drives in all the systems. We have addressed this by taking backup of the C: drive on other drives & while installing Ubuntu we have just deleted & the C drive & recreated Linux partitions as follows - /root , /Boot, /Home & Swap.(in 10 GB) The problem is that the Linux gets installed without any error. However when I restart the system after the installation the system hangs in while detecting the HDD in BIOS and the system fails to start until I remove the HDD. When I installed the previous Ubuntu version it worked fine, without any hassle. Also if we install Ubuntu 12.04 on same HDD on any other higher capacity system & reconnected to old system it works fine. How can I fix this problem? Also, is there is any Antivirus which will give me real time protection on ubuntu 11 & higher versions with both 32 & 64 Bits?

  • Nokia Lumia Windows Phones Coming To India On Nov 14

    - by Gopinath
    Nokia released it’s first set of smartphones, Lumia 800 & Lumia 710,  powered by Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS few weeks ago in Europe. India being it’s one of the favourite markets, Nokia is all set to launch the Lumia on November 14 in New Delhi. Unlike Apple who releases iPhones in India very late, Nokia is planning to bring its flagship smart mobiles very early to Indian market.  This is a good move by Nokia to keep it’s existing market share that is continuously challenged by Android OS smart phones from various manufactures. Nokia Lumia 710 runs on version 7.5 of Windows Phone OS(nick named as Mango) with 512 MB RAM, 8 GB internal storage capacity, 3.7″ WVGA TFT display, WIFI, GPS,  and 5 MP camera. Price details of the phone is not available but to be competitive in the market it should be priced some where between 25,000 to 30,000. Lets wait two more days and we will get the full details after the press release on Nov 14th. source: nirmaltv This article titled,Nokia Lumia Windows Phones Coming To India On Nov 14, was originally published at Tech Dreams.
