  • Using Private Browsing keyboard shortcut with Firefox and Vimperator

    I am using Firefox 15.0 on OS X Mountain Lion alongside with vimperator. Note that I am using a Windows keyboard. CtrlP is for moving focus to left tab in vimperator. However, the latest Firefox has also CtrlP to enable private browsing. I looked for private browsing with FF "Customizable Shortcuts" addon but there is only CommandShiftP binding associated to it. How can the CtrlP private browsing binding be turned off?

    Ok, so at work I use Ubuntu and its create for copying a files from one folder to another folder without having two finder windows open. What I would like is to have that function on my mac and I am wondering if anyone knows how to do this. I understand Ubuntu is Linux and Mac well its from Linux has all the features of Linux but is a mac. The feature may not be there but if it is, it would help me alot.     Hi There, I use the Dvorak keyboard layout with VIM, and the 't' key is the 'up' motion when editing a regular file. The problem is that NERDTree remaps 't' to open files in a new tab. How can I undo that mapping and use 't' for the up motion in NERDTree? Here are the relevant lines from my vimrc file and from the NERDTree plugin.   • How to keep the function key locked on Lenovo E431?

    For the Lenovo e431, how do you keep the function key locked. Right now, the default is when you press F1-F12, he multimedia controls are active. To get to the standard F1-F12, you have to hold down Fn+the function key. This used to available in bios, but for this laptop model, it no longer is available. You can press Fn+esc, and it locks it for that session, but when the computer reboots, this is reset back to the default. Is there a way so that the default is not the multimedia function keys, but just the standard, legacy function keys? Thanks.

  • Keyboard shortcut to jump between tabs on OSX Terminal

    In OSX Terminal.app, if you open new windows, you can easily switch between them with Cmd-1, Cmd-2, Cmd-3, etc. You can also cycle between tabs, using Cmd-Shift-{ and Cmd-Shift-}. But is there a way to jump straight to a particular tab, like you can with windows? e.g. Cmd-Shift-3 to jump to the third tab? (That's not it, of course.) I'm pretty sure it's impossible out of the box, but what if I'm willing to write some AppleScript to make this work?

  • Keyboard shortcut to minimize Remote Desktop

    Is there a way, using the keyboard, to switch from a maximized (full screen) Remote Desktop Connection back to the main computer? I have about 4 Remote Desktop connections that I am switching between and it would be nice to not have to go to the mouse each time I want to switch. I know I can press Ctrl+Alt+Break and that normalizes the remote desktop screen. That is close, but I would like a way to just minimize it (so I don't have to normalize-switch-maximize each time I want to switch screens)

    I'm trying to add shortcuts to folders in "My Computer". This .reg almost works, I can execute programs like EXPLORE.exe, but I want to open a folder in the same window. Can someone please point out how?   • Windows Server 2012 Metro shortcut icons do not show for other users

    I have installed SQL Server 2012 and SharePoint 2013 on my Windows Server 2012 machine using a dedicated domain install account. When I log into the same machine with a user account, all the icons for these applications are missing! I can still access the applications by finding them in 'Program Files', however it is very annoying. (For example, I'm not exactly sure where the SharePoint PowerShell is located, and frankly I don't want to know either) In previous versions of Windows Server, the Icons always showed up in the Start Menu. Does anyone know how I can copy the shortcuts in one account to another?

  • Turn on Laptop backlight without a keyboard shortcut

    I recently installed the latest drivers and my screen backlight turned off. The problem is that my Fn-F7 key combination doesn't work, so I can't turn it back on. I can see my screen at night if I hold a source of light next to the screen. So I can still do some trivial things with my laptop. Is there a way to turn the backlight on without using Fn-F7 key combination, either via the command line, or some other way?

  • How to configure a shortcut for an SSH connection through a SSH tunnel

    My company production servers (FOO, BAR...) are located behind two gateway servers (A, B). In order to connect to server FOO, I have to open a ssh connection with server A or B with my username JOHNDOE, then from A (or B) I can access any production server opening a SSH connection with a standard username (let's call it WEBBY). So, each time I have to do something like: ssh johndoe@a ... ssh webby@foo ... # now I can work on the server As you can imagine, this is a hassle when I need to use scp or if I need to quickly open multiple connections. I have configured a ssh key and also I'm using .ssh/config for some shortcuts. I was wondering if I can create some kind of ssh configuration in order to type ssh foo and let SSH open/forward all the connections for me. Is it possible?   • What is the "Apple" key and what key is it that is depicted as part of an upper case X?

    I read in some answers about using the "Apple" + "Space bar" keys. Which is the "Apple" key? Also, I see in my Mac OS X Safari menu bar that to open the download window I can use a 3 key combination. The last of the 3 keys are the Command key (depicted with a clover leaf symbol) and the 'L' key. The first key is the one I don't see anywhere. It is depicted by a symbol that looks to me like an upper case 'X' with most of the forward slash part removed. What key is that? OK, just discovered by trial and error that it must be a symbol for the "option" key. What is that symbol called and why is it not on the keyboard?

  • Windows 7 New Folder shortcut doesn't work, opens browser/Firefox

    I was so excited to hear that Windows 7 Explorer now has a hotkey to create a new folder (ctrl+shift+N), but I tried it on my machine, and it doesn't work!! If I press ctrl+shift+N in a Windows Explorer window, it opens up my default web browser (Firefox) and tries to open the last downloaded file. How do I get Create New Folder functionality back? Notes: Windows 7, Firefox is default browser. Keyboard is MS Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000.

    I want to use right-arrow to open a node in NERDtree. I see there is NERDTreeAddKeyMap, but I'm too much of a vimscript newb to know how to invoke it properly. I want right-arrow to invoke activateNode.   • How do I open a file with a program via a shortcut from the cmd prompt

    Here's my predicament: When I add a program's location to my PATH, I can do the following in cmd prompt to open a file in my current directory: notepad++ open_me.txt And this opens open_me.txt in notepad++. However, I don't want to have to add every single program I want to run to my path. What I want is to add a folder called C:\Users\Me\Documents\Programs to my path and just drop shortcuts to various programs into that folder and have them function the same as adding them to my path. So I dropped a link to notepad++.exe named "np" in my folder, and what I got was this: I have to run it with start np (instead of just np) But more importantly, if I try start np open_me.txt, it opens notepad++.exe but looks for open_me.txt in notepad++'s directory. How can I do this properly? (Also, I'd like to be opening notepad++.exe with the shortened name of np)
