  • Privoxy causes problem for iPod Touch Youtube App

    Whenever I use my iPod Touch G4 (iOS 4.1) at home, I cannot play Youtube videos using the Youtube app. The lists of videos shows correctly, but when I tap to play a video and the video toolbar shows up, a dialog box shows "The server is not correctly configured" and the video is not played. When I turn off my Privoxy (v3.0.15) proxy, the video plays correctly. How can I use Privoxy as the global default proxy while still retaining Youtube App functionality?

    Using my home wifi network, I open several browser windows on my Ipod Touch and load different web pages on them so I can read them on the bus later. Often, I can switch between windows and read the pages while WiFi is turned off but occasionally web pages try to refresh themselves when I switch to them. Why is this?

    Most of the time when I sync my IPOD touch, its battery gets filled up but sync is not complete and sign on the battery changes which means I should unplug it, should I do it? I mean it's in the middle of sync and if I unplug it, it can lose some data or have some other problem.   • Trouble restoring an iPod touch backup

    I ran into some problems with my iPod, and am trying to restore a backup following this link - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 I tried following the section under "Restoring your iPhone or iPod touch". When it gets to step 9, it simply doesn't show up - the restore happens, the iPod restarts, but I DO NOT get an option to set it up as a new device, or restore a backup. A backup does exist (checked the location). Any ideas on how I can restore the backup?

  • Problems after upgrading my ubuntu to Ubuntu 14.04 lts

    I have problems after upgrading my older Ubuntu version to Ubuntu 14.04 lts. I was offered this installation and after the procss and restarting of the computer there is just a black page with following message: mount: mounting /dev/loop0 on /root failed: Invalid argument mount: mounting /dev on /root/dev failed: No such file or directory mount: mounting /sys on /root/sys failed: No such file or directory mount: mounting /proc on /root/proc failed: No such file or directory Target filesystem doesn't have requested /sbin/init.     I have installed "Ubuntu One" on an Ubuntu server 11.10 based on these instructions: How do I configure Ubuntu one on a 11.10 server? Everything went smooth during installation.   • After installing Ubuntu using WUBI, starting Ubuntu does not get further than the GRUB prompt

    I'm trying to install Ubuntu. I put Ubuntu on a USB flash drive using the WUBI installer. I get to where it finishes the install and it wants me to reboot. But when I reboot and then select Ubuntu, I get a black screen that says GNU GRUB version 1.99-21ubuntu3 Minimal BASH-like editing is supported. for the first word. TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions. Grub> When I type in some commands it says "Kernel not specified" and the rest of the commands give no feed back what so ever. What did i do wrong? Can anyone point me in the right direction. Please help this is very frustrating any help would be useful.

  • HDMI not working after installing ubuntu-gnome-desktop on Ubuntu 14.04

    So, I installed ubuntu-gnome-desktop on ubuntu 14.04 and HDMI stopped working (not sure what else isn't working anymore, but HDMI is the most immediate thing I noticed). I also have kubuntu-desktop installed and HDMI doesn't work there either. So I ran xrandr and, as I feared, it doesn't detect HDMI anymore. HDMI worked fine before installing gnome, and it literally stopped working after the reboot right after the install. Any help? I've already removed ubuntu-gnome-desktop and rebooted to no avail. Many thanks!

  • touch pad randomly stopped working on ubuntu desktop

    Question: What steps can I take to make a touchpad that once worked, work again. Info: I'm running ubuntu desktop on my net book. it has been working more or less fine. There have been some minor issues. but nothing to bad. recently I was messing around with burning a mandriva .iso, and suddenly my touch pad just stops working. every now and then it will work for a brief moment after I bring back from sleep mode. The computer says that there is a touch pad and that it is active. any tips?

  • Upgrade an Ubuntu 8.04 installation with VMware Server 1.0.8 and lots of guest OSes to Something Els

    I have an Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) host machine which is running a whole slew of virtual machines in VMWare Server 1.0.8. Among other guest OSes, there is every release version of Ubuntu since 6.06, OpenSolaris 2009.06, and Windows XP. Right now I access these VMs from a variety of client OSes as well; Linux and Windows via the VMWare server console, and MacOS via X-forwarding the host machine's server console. I'd like to upgrade the host to Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx), but from what I can tell, getting VMWare Server 1.x to work on a more recent version of Linux is a real pain. While VMware Server 2.x is a bit easier, it's still not packaged as Debian packages, so installing security updates is a big chore. As long as I'm upgrading anyway, I'd like to move to a virtualization solution that will allow me to automate applying updates. The options that I'm aware of right now are KVM (managed via virt-manager) and VirtualBox (as managed by its own tools or via its own libvirt bindings), but I'm open to other suggestions. For each option, I'd like to know how do I convert my guest images to the new format? am I going to have to re-activate my Windows guests (alternatively, "If the virtual hardware is different by default, can I avoid re-activation by changing some virtualization configuration to provide me with more similar virtual hardware") what are the management options like for each client OS (mac, linux, windows)?   • Microsoft Researchers shows off best Touch Screen ever made. Better than Apple touch screens!

    All the touch devices we have in market today like iPads, iPhones, Samsung tablets and phones, etc.  have a very small issue – 100 milliseconds of lag. The lag is the amount of time a touch device takes to respond after you touch the device. The 100 milliseconds of lag may not be an issue when you are tapping and swapping the interface elements on a device, but they are apparent when you wing your finger around the screen faster. For example if you use any painting app, the lag is very obvious and screen responds slowly than an artist can paint with his finger. Researchers at Microsoft labs came out with a prototype of touch device that drastically cuts down the 100 milliseconds of lag time to just 1 millisecond. That’s 100 times faster than today’s touch screen devices. Check out the video embedded below for a demo of new touch screen. Over at TechCrunch, Chris Velazco says: The difference is staggering, especially when Dietz trots out the slow-motion footage. With the delay between touch input and screen response slashed by orders of magnitude, a device that sports the sort of super-low-latency Dietz envisions has the potential to feel far more (for lack of a better term) natural than its brethren. There’s zero delay when you slide a checker across a board, for example, and bringing that sort of instantaneous feedback to the many screens in our lives could help to bridge the gap between operating a bit of software and the feeling of interacting with objects.   It will be great boost to Microsoft’s tablet strategy if they succeed in bringing this research into mass market and allow it’s partners to use the technology on Windows 8 tablets.

This is the bit I really can't get my head around. So if the swipe generates a lot of velocity then the wheel will carry on moving slightly in that direction until the overall force which pulls the wheel back to the starting position kicks in. Any ideas/code snippets?
