  • Javascript with Django?

    - by Rosarch
I know this has been asked before, but I'm having a hard time setting up JS on my Django web app, even though I'm reading the documentation. I'm running the Django dev server. My file structure looks like this: mysite/ __init__.py MySiteDB manage.py settings.py urls.py myapp/ __init__.py admin.py models.py test.py views.py templates/ index.html Where do I want to put the Javascript and CSS? I've tried it in a bunch of places, including myapp/, templates/ and mysite/, but none seem to work. From index.html: <head> <title>Degree Planner</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="/scripts/JQuery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/media/scripts/sprintf.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/media/scripts/clientside.js"></script> </head> From urls.py: (r'^admin/', include(admin.site.urls)), (r'^media/(?P<path>.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve', {'document_root': 'media'}) (r'^.*', 'mysite.myapp.views.index'), I suspect that the serve() line is the cause of errors like: TypeError at /admin/auth/ 'tuple' object is not callable Just to round off the rampant flailing, I changed these settings in settings.py: MEDIA_ROOT = '/media/' MEDIA_URL = 'http://127.0.0.1:8000/media'

  • Scapy install issues. Nothing seems to actually be installed?

I have an apple computer running Leopard with python 2.6. I downloaded the latest version of scapy and ran "python setup.py install". All went according to plan. • Rebuilding old (2010) django project in 2012

    - by birgit
I am trying to make an old Django project run again. After seemingly having solved issues with old sorl.thumbnail versions and deprecated expressions I now get this error when running python manage.py runserver I also tried to copy & paste my old files into a new Django project and get the exactly same error. Maybe someone here has a clue where the problem lies? • Can the Firefox password manager store and manage passwords for multiple sub-domains or different URLs in the same domain?

    - by Howiecamp
Can the Firefox password manager store and manage passwords for multiple sub-domains, or for multiple URLs in the same domain? The default behavior of Firefox is that all requests for *.domain.com are treated as the same. I'd like to have Firefox do the following: Store and manage passwords separately for multiple sub-domains, e.g. mail.google.com and picasa.google.com Store and manage passwords separately for different URLs in the same domain, e.g. http://mail.google.com/a/company1.com and http://mail.google.com/a/company2.com

  • How can I monitor URLs being requested by components in web apps running in Internet Explorer?

    - by Tahtah
Hi I'm using a particular web app which for some strange reason runs only in IE and not in Firefox. I need to see which URLs are being fetched by internal components in the web app, such as AJAX requests and video sources being loaded in a video player. In Firefox I would have used Firebug... is there any tool I can use to see (not necessarily in real time or with a nice GUI) which URLs were requested by IE? Thanks

  • How do I work around this problem creating a virtualenv environment with a custom-build Python?

    - by Daryl Spitzer
I need to run some code on a Linux machine with Python 2.3.4 pre-installed. I'm not on the sudoers list for that machine, so I built Python 2.6.4 into (a subdirectory in) my home directory. Then I attempted to use virtualenv (for the first time), but got: $ Python-2.6.4/python virtualenv/virtualenv.py ENV New python executable in ENV/bin/python Could not find platform dependent libraries <exec_prefix> Consider setting $PYTHONHOME to <prefix>[:<exec_prefix>] Installing setuptools......... • ObjectListView: Custom Sorter

    - by Mike
    In the control ObjectListView(http://objectlistview.sourceforge.net/html/cookbook.htm), I'm trying to add a custom sorter where it ignores "The" and "A" prefixes. I managed to do it with a regular ListView, but now that I switched to ObjectListView(a lot more features, and ease), I can't seem to do the same. The following is the Main comparer in the ObjectListView code i think... public int Compare(object x, object y) { return this.Compare((OLVListItem)x, (OLVListItem)y); } Original Sorter for ascending, as an example (Ignoring "A" and "The") public class CustomSortAsc : IComparer { int IComparer.Compare(Object x, Object y) { string[] px = Convert.ToString(x).Split(' '); string[] py = Convert.ToString(y).Split(' '); string newX = ""; string newY = ""; for (int i = 0; i < px.Length; i++) { px[i] = px[i].Replace("{", ""); px[i] = px[i].Replace("}", ""); } for (int i = 0; i < py.Length; i++) { py[i] = py[i].Replace("{", ""); py[i] = py[i].Replace("}", ""); } if ((px[1].ToLower() == "a") || (px[1].ToLower() == "the")) { if (px.Length > 1) { for (int i = 2; i < px.Length; i++) newX += px[i]; } } else { for (int i = 1; i < px.Length; i++) newX += px[i]; } if ((py[1].ToLower() == "a") || (py[1].ToLower() == "the")) { if (py.Length > 1) { for (int i = 2; i < py.Length; i++) newY += py[i]; } } else { for (int i = 1; i < py.Length; i++) newY += py[i]; } return ((new CaseInsensitiveComparer()).Compare(newX, newY)); }

  • Python read multiline JSON

    - by Paul W
I have been trying to use JSON to store settings for a program. I can't seem to get Python 2.6 's JSON Decoder to decode multi-line JSON strings... Here is example input: .settings file: """ {\ 'user':'username',\ 'password':'passwd',\ }\ """ I have tried a couple other syntaxes for this file, which I will specify below (with the traceback they cause). My python code for reading the file in is import json settings_text = open(".settings", "r").read() settings = json.loads(settings_text) The Traceback for this is: Traceback (most recent call last): File "json_test.py", line 4, in <module> print json.loads(text) File "/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/json/__init__.py", line 307, in loads return _default_decoder.decode(s) File "/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/json/decoder.py", line 322, in decode raise ValueError(errmsg("Extra data", s, end, len(s))) ValueError: Extra data: line 1 column 2 - line 7 column 1 (char 2 - 41) I assume the "Extra data" is the triple-quote. • dpkg stuck downloading font files

    - by Bob Bowles
I have been reinstalling Ubuntu 12.04. The install from USB works fine, and I could update everything OK, but when I got to re-installing my application software I hit a snag. One of the packages I tried to re-install was ttf-mscorefonts-installer. dpkg stalled during this setup, downloading a font file (it had tried to download it all night). I stopped dpkg, and attempted to re-start downloading something else, but it would not let me. The commands I typed are as follows: bob@bobStudio:~$ sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/lock This unlocks dpkg, but if I try to do something I get the following message (eg): bob@bobStudio:~$ sudo apt-get install synaptic E: dpgk was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem So, I did just that: bob@bobStudio:~$ sudo dpkg --configure -a whereupon it started the previously failed download all over again. I went round the loop here a few times and each time after the configure command it re-started the failing download, but then I got this: bob@bobStudio:~$ sudo dpkg --configure -a Setting up update-notifier-common (0.119ubuntu8.4) ... ttf-mscorefonts-installer: downloading http://downloads.sourceforge.net/corefonts/andale32.exe Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/update-notifier/package-data-downloader", line 234, in process_download_requests dest_file = urllib.urlretrieve(files[i])[0] File "/usr/lib/python2.7/urllib.py", line 93, in urlretrieve return _urlopener.retrieve(url, filename, reporthook, data) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/urllib.py", line 239, in retrieve fp = self.open(url, data) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/urllib.py", line 207, in open return getattr(self, name)(url) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/urllib.py", line 344, in open_http h.endheaders(data) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/httplib.py", line 954, in endheaders self._send_output(message_body) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/httplib.py", line 814, in _send_output self.send(msg) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/httplib.py", line 776, in send self.connect() File "/usr/lib/python2.7/httplib.py", line 757, in connect self.timeout, self.source_address) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/socket.py", line 553, in create_connection for res in getaddrinfo(host, port, 0, SOCK_STREAM): IOError: [Errno socket error] [Errno -2] Name or service not known Setting up ttf-mscorefonts-installer (3.4ubuntu3) ... bob@bobStudio:~$ sudo apt-get update E: Could not get lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable) E: Unable to lock directory /var/lib/apt/lists/ bob@bobStudio:~$ sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/lock bob@bobStudio:~$ sudo apt-get update E: Could not get lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable) E: Unable to lock directory /var/lib/apt/lists/ The good news is that, once I sorted out the file locks, this seems to have permanently aborted the setup of the font package, so at least I can do something else with dpkg. That leaves two questions: 1) How could I have broken the loop without actually crashing out of dpkg? 2) How can I set up the ttf-mscorefonts-installer package in the future? Is this download really broken, or is it 'just' a bad Internet connection?

  • An Intro to IIS URL Rewrite–plus redirecting URLs to www-Web Pro Week 8 of 52

    - by OWScott
Today’s video post is an intro to URL Rewrite and the start of a few lessons on this powerful tool.  Additionally I cover how to rewrite URLs to add the www to the domain name for the sake of search engine optimization (SEO). This is week 8 of a 52 week series on various web administration related tasks.  Past and future videos can be found here. I have already written a blog post on this, so for those that prefer to read rather than watch, you can find it here. IIS URL Rewrite–redirecting non-www to www

  • Should I implement slugs with my already fairly long URLs?

    - by Earlz
I'm considering implementing slugs in my blog. My blog uses MongoDB. One of the side-effects of using MongoDB is that it uses relatively long hex string IDs. Example before: http://lastyearswishes.com/blog/view/5070f025d1f1a5760fdfafac after: http://lastyearswishes.com/blog/view/5070f025d1f1a5760fdfafac/improvements-on-barelymvc Of course, that's a relatively short title.. I have some longer ones, but intend to limit the maximum character limit for slugs to something reasonable. At what point does a URL become so long that it hurts SEO instead of improves it? In this case, should I leave my URLs alone, or add slugs?
