• Having encoding problems in Aptana Studio

  A few months ago, I was working on a PHP project in Aptana Studio. It was version 1.5 or something. Later I installed Aptana 2.0 and created a new project with the same files. Back then it was UTF-8 so I chose UTF-8 for the project's text file encoding. When I make changes in any PHP file using Aptana, it gives the error: Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent... I know it's a problem related to encoding. What can I do?

  Hi, I'd like to display some language specific characters from javascript but I can't. My app is a Java webapp and the front end is jQuery. All the characters that are sended from the server - in a JSP or with AJAX - are displayed properly. When I want to display some text hardcoded in to the javascript file it's broken. I'm using Eclipse. In the JSP's header I use: <%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" pageEncoding="UTF-8"%> I've tried this (charset in the script element) too: <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"><c:import url="/JS/mainJS.js" /></script> In my Eclipse I've set the project properties / text file encoding to UTF-8 AND I've checked the JS files' resource properties / text file encoding that is UTF-8 too. • Character encoding problem in my website.

  I own a website that was recently moved to a different server, now I can see some weird characters. Initially the website was coded with UTF-8 encoding. The weird characters disappears if I change the View Character encoding to Western(8859-1) in my browser. Therefore, I changed the source of the website to use this Western one, but still I can see the weird characters and they doesn't seem to disappear. Can anyone help me with this. Thanks in advance.

• Why does Chrome video performance substantially degrade after waking from suspend in 10.10?

  Note: For some more details, some of which may not be true given what I've figured out, see this post. When I first boot my computer, video performance (both native H.264 HTML5 in YouTube and Vimeo, and in Flash) in Chrome is perfectly reasonable. CPU usage stays slow, everything works correctly, and the video is silky-smooth. But for whatever reason, if I suspend my computer then wake it up, video performance plummets. Full screen HTML5 video is choppy at best, and full-screen Flash video basically brings my computer to its knees (I'm talking less than a frame a second, and a 5 second lead time to leave full-screen after hitting Esc). Restarting Chrome doesn't fix this — I need to completely restart my machine before performance goes back to normal. Video performance in other applications, such as Movie Player, doesn't seem to be affected at all by the suspend cycle — it's only Chrome. I'm using a Lenovo X201, with an Intel GMA HD graphics chipset, and Intel compnents all around (I don't need any proprietary drivers). This didn't happen in 10.04, and I haven't anything that I think would have caused this to happen. It's possible that a Chrome release could have caused this, but it seems less likely than a regression between 10.04 and 10.10. Any ideas? EDIT: In response Georg's comment, logging in and out doesn't fix it. Restarting Compiz or switching to Metacity (at least by using "compiz/metacity --replace & disown" — am I doing it right?) doesn't help (actually, it seemed to help somewhat with Flash once, but I haven't been able to reproduce this). I'm not sure about GDM — when I use "sudo restart gdm" I get kicked back to the Linux shell (?), which I have no idea how to get out of. Also, I want to make very clear that this isn't just a case of Flash sucking (it does,but that's beside the point). I"m seeing the same general problem with HTML5 videos, and Flash is performing better on my Nexus One than it does on my Core i5 laptop. There's something screwy going on with Chrome and/or 10.10.

How can I convert the video,keeping the subtitles, or add a subtitles.srt? I also would like 2 pass encoding with a video bitrate of 4054 and audio bitrate of 160. Thanks. • How do I draw video frames onto the screen permanently using XNA?

  I have an app that plays back a video and draws the video onto the screen at a moving position. When I run the app, the video moves around the screen as it plays.   there are a couple of concerts that I would very much like to view from Arte (I think it's a french TV channel?) but my connection is not good enough to stream the video. How can I download the file to play it locally?   the file will be played in a popbox3d. my old method was to convert the video using vidcoder (an offshoot of handbrake) using normal settings, but i've recently confirmed that this significantly reduces video and audio quality. i bumped up the conversion quality to 'high profile' and this produced a higher quality video but raised the conversion time to about twice the video length (95 minutes to convert a 45 minute video) on a core2duo laptop. this is less than ideal when a large number of videos need to be converted. i have tried a direct remuxing using mkv toolnix but this produced a video that refused to display video on the popbox3d, which is consistent with the reported: [quote=other old thread] it is possible to put RealMedia A/V in MKV container (used MKVtoolnix) - however, it is awkward to play later. • How to play 24 fps video smoothly on a 60Hz display?

  I use mpc-hc to play videos on Win7 x64. With the default settings (#1), video playback is great most of the time. But for panning shots, playback is not smooth. I stepped through the video frame by frame and found that the panning movement is smooth (e.g. each frame shifts horizontally by 10 pixels), so the problem is how the 23.976 fps video is interpolated to 60Hz. The judder looks like what would be caused by a "2:3 pulldown", where the frames are played unevenly like: frame 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, etc (#2) Using "optimal renderer settings" (#3) instead of the default disables the Aero theme and causes tearing. Setting my LCD display to 50Hz may have improved the judder slightly (but I can't really tell). My display does not support 24Hz or 48Hz, and forcing them in the Nvidia control panel gives blurry screen. I've tried other video players (VLC and KMPlayer), the ReClock Directshow Filter, video files from different sources (#4), turning on/off DXVA, and a computer with a different GPU, but the judder in the playback is similar. None of them solved the problem. So, how can I play 23.976 or 24 fps video smoothly on a 60Hz display? I think a video player could make the video smoother by doing linear interpolation, such as: 1. 100% frame 1 2. 60% frame 1 + 40% frame 2 3. 20% frame 1 + 80% frame 2 4. 80% frame 2 + 20% frame 3 5. 40% frame 2 + 60% frame 3 6. 100% frame 3 7. 60% frame 3 + 40% frame 4 .. etc Can any existing video player do this?   My current video card (9600GT) is dying and I'm searching for a new video card. Between acquiring my current one and now, I got a lot more knowledge about hardware and I want to use that to pick my new card. So I decided to not just buy some popular card blindly, but to search for a card able to handle my hardware requirements. I searched the specs at the NVidia site for the GT640 and was confused by the memory section and some questions raised. My current card's memory bus width is 256bit and has 1GB of memory. I checked Google about the importance of bus width. And all the links basically said the same 'The higher the number the more potential simultaneously traffic can be transferred'. This was already clear to me, yet there are currently a lot of new cards which are considered better than my current one with a lower bus width. To go in more detail about my question I copied the memory info from the NVidia site: GT 640 GT640 GDDR5 Memory Specs: Memory Clock 1.8 Gbps 5.0 Gbps Standard Memory Config 2048 MB 1024 MB Memory Interface DDR3 GDDR5 Memory Interface Width 128-bit 64-bit Memory Bandwidth (GB/sec) 28.5 40.0 What puzzled me is that the Memory Bandwidth seems to me the most important part, yet the lower bus width has the higher 'performance'. Is this due to the fact the memory interface is GDDR5 and is therefore able to have a higher memory clock speed (5Gbps)? If I am to buy a new video card, should I check the bus width? Memory clock? Bandwith? Amount of memory? My current card ahs 1GB memory, so I was searching for a 2GB memory card, but now I'm not so sure any more whether that is really 'better'. My main question: To me it seems that memory performance is made up by the combination of bus width and frequency. Is this true? If yes, why are there so many sites telling me I need to get a card with a high bus width? If no, then what IS important when it goes about memory performance on a video card. NOTE: The memory bandwidth is (almost) never displayed on vendor sites. How can I determine which card is better without knowing the bandwith?

  I have a bunch of Xvid files that each have an audio stream that I do not want. How can I strip the audio track I don't want using the Linux command line? I don't need the whole script (loop), just what command I would use to process each avi file individually (unless the cmd itself has batch modification built into it). I don't believe the file is in an mkv container, as mkvinfo doesn't find anything. • Is there an application that can do a blue screen effect with a webcam?

  Background: This is not the blue screen of death I am speaking of but the process called "Blue Screening" that takes and removes a particular colored background from an image so that it can be superimposed on some other video/still picture. If you have ever seen the weatherman stand in front of the map, then you have seen someone doing a blue screen technique. I would like to be able to capture video from my webcam, then send that video to a blue screen program which removes the white (or other color) from the background and then inserts a background of my own choosing. (think of the dead guy in freejack who was calling from all of the different places on earth) Then once the image is superimposed, I would like to pipe it into Skype for video conferencing. Anyone have a good way to do this?

  I'm trying to make a DVD and the final DVD jerks when played on standalone DVD players. It seems to play fine on PCs. I think the problem may be to do with interlacing settings when rendering the final output, but I'll outline the whole editing process I have followed in case I've made a mistake somewhere else. Most of the footage comes from a sony handy cam (one of those mini DVD ones) so isn't great quality. It was set to "high quality" (haha) and 16:9 aspect ratio when it was recorded. I copy the files directly from the mini DVDs onto the hard drive and import them into Cinelerra. In Cinelerra I set the format to 25fps, 720x576, RGBA-8bit, 16:9, interlaced bottom fields first. When I've finished the editing, I add a Fields to frames effect (set to bottom first) to each video track. I render to audio and video separately: Audio: AC3, 128kbps Video: YUV4MPEG steam, video pipe settings: ffmpeg -f yuv4mpegpipe -i - -y -target dvd -flags +ilme+ildct mpeg2video % Cinelerra often crashes during the rendering, so I set it to generate a new video file at each label, and combine them using cat when I've got a sucesful render of each one. Once I've combined them, I use mencoder to re-index them: mencoder -forceidx -oac copy -ovc copy merged.m2v -o mergedReIndexed.m2v I combine the audio and video files using ffmpeg: ffmpeg -i AudioFile.ac3 -i VideoFile.m2v -target dvd -flags +ilme+ildct FinalMovie.mpg Then I build the menus with spumux and I create the DVD file system with dvdauthor, and finally I write it do a dvd-r like this: nice -n -20 growisofs -dvd-compat -speed=2 -Z /dev/dvd -dvd-video -V VIDEO ./ && eject /dev/dvd Originally, when I did it the DVD flickered badly, so as suggested in a guide I added the fields to frames effect in cinelerra. Now it doesn't "flicker", but has become "jerky" when there is lots of motion, particularly when the camera is moving, so the whole background moves. This is what I've tried so far: Removed "mpeg2video" from cinelerra video render pipe. Removed +ilme from render pipe. Removed +ildct from render pipe. Removed +ilme from render audio/video rejoin command. Removed +ildct from render audio/video rejoin command. Added -alt to render pipe. Added -alt to render audio/video rejoin command. Tried with and without the frames to fields effect in Cinelerra. and various combinations of the above. I've also tried this: change the Cinelerra fps to 50, use fields to frames (instead of frames to fields), render to an intermediate QTforlinux jpeg video stream, re-importing that back into Cinelerra, adding a frames to fields effect and then rendering that output as normal (@25fps), and I still have the same problem. Has anyone experienced this "jerking" playback before? Can anyone give any suggestions on how to fix it? (Like I say, it plays back fine on a PC, but not on any of the standalone players I've tried)

• ffdshow equivalent for the Mac

  When I was still on Windows XP, I used ffdshow to take care of all my video and audio codecs needs (with fully customizable subtitles). I did not need any other video player except Windows Media Player. Is there an ffdshow equivalent for the Mac? The objective is the same: that I shouldn't have to install any other video player, not even VLC, or the trial-bloatware-ridden DivX. I'm on Snow Leopard.

• Could the HTML 5 Video tag pick up an IP Multicast Stream?

  I've been researching methods of getting an IP Multicast over UDP to the browser, and have found little that suggests I would be able to do it without using a plug-in like Java, Flash, or Silverlight in order to open a UDP port and (somehow) render the video. Checking out the HTML 5 <video> spec, there is (obviously) little in the way of specific implementation details, so as far as I can tell, there is nothing stopping a browser from parsing a address of the form "udp://224.1.1.1:8000" and joining a multicast group on that IP/port. Is this a correct understanding? Or must the resource pointed to by the <source> be a file?

• Old Sony Digital Tape Handycam, imported Video is sped up?

  Friend gave me their OLD handycam and a bunch of tapes asking me to put them on a DVD. The model is Sony DCR-TVR103 and it records onto Hi8 Digital tapes. It has a firewire port also. I am trying to use import function in iMovie on OS X 10.6. Every import though the video is super fast, like playing in fast forward. Ever seen anything like this? How can I import this video? Any idea how I might get the video to stop when I close the overlay? • Not able to show video with html5

  I am testing html 5 video tag. I am using http://www.kaltura.org/project/HTML5_Video_Media_JavaScript_Library and http://camendesign.co.uk/. I downloaded the creative common video. When I use an external link, it plays the video. So I uploaded the video to my server but it does not play. It asks if I want to save it or asking an application to play. When I go to the external link, http://cdn.kaltura.org/apis/html5lib/kplayer-examples/media/bbb400p.ogv, it plays it on the browser automatically. I also tested locally, but it does not play either. I am hoping someone gives me why and how to solve the problem. • PHP: Writing non-english characters to XML - encoding problem

  Hello, I wrote a small PHP script to edit the site news XML file. I used DOM to manipulate the XML (Loading, writing, editing). It works fine when writing English characters, but when non-English characters are written, PHP throws an error when trying to load the file. If I manually type non-English characters into the file - it's loaded perfectly fine, but if PHP writes the non-English characters the encoding goes wrong, although I specified the utf-8 encoding. Any help is appreciated. Errors: Warning: DOMDocument::load() [domdocument.load]: Entity 'times' not defined in filepath Warning: DOMDocument::load() [domdocument.load]: Input is not proper UTF-8, indicate encoding !
