  • Google App Engine - "Invalid sender format" when sending e-mail

    - by Taylor Leese
I'm trying to send an e-mail using Google App Engine. I'm getting the exception below and I'm not sure why at the moment. Any ideas? javax.mail.SendFailedException: Send failure (javax.mail.MessagingException: Illegal Arguments (java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Bad Request: Invalid sender format)) at javax.mail.Transport.send(Transport.java:163) at javax.mail.Transport.send(Transport.java:48) at com.mystuff.service.mail.MailService.sendActivationEmail(MailService.java:145) Below is the code related to sending the e-mail. public final void sendActivationEmail(final UserAccount user) { final Properties props = new Properties(); final Session session = Session.getDefaultInstance(props, null); final Message message = new MimeMessage(session); final Multipart multipart = new MimeMultipart(); final MimeBodyPart htmlPart = new MimeBodyPart(); final MimeBodyPart textPart = new MimeBodyPart(); final Locale locale = LocaleContextHolder.getLocale(); try { message.setFrom(new InternetAddress(getFromAddress(), "Qoogeo")); message.addRecipient(Message.RecipientType.TO, new InternetAddress(user.getUsername(), user.getFirstName() + " " + user.getLastName())); message.setSubject(messageSource.getMessage("mail.subject", null, locale)); textPart.setContent(messageSource.getMessage("mail.body.txt", new Object[] {getHostname(), user.getActivationKey()}, locale), "text/plain"); htmlPart.setContent(messageSource.getMessage("mail.body.html", new Object[] {getHostname(), user.getActivationKey()}, locale), "text/html"); multipart.addBodyPart(textPart); multipart.addBodyPart(htmlPart); message.setContent(multipart); Transport.send(message); } catch (MessagingException e) { LOGGER.warn(ERROR_MSG, e); } catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) { LOGGER.warn(ERROR_MSG, e); } } Also, getFromAddress() returns "[email protected]".

  • Google App Engine: Unit testing concurrent access to memcache

    - by Phuong Nguyen de ManCity fan
    Would you guys show me a way to simulating concurrent access to memcache on Google App Engine? I'm trying with LocalServiceTestHelpers and threads but don't have any luck. Every time I try to access Memcache within a thread, then I get this error: ApiProxy$CallNotFoundException: The API package 'memcache' or call 'Increment()' was not found I guess that the testing library of GAE SDK tried to mimic the real environment and thus setup the environment for only one thread (the thread that running the test) which cannot be seen by other thread. Here is a piece of code that can reproduce the problem package org.seamoo.cache.memcacheImpl; import org.testng.Assert; import org.testng.annotations.AfterMethod; import org.testng.annotations.BeforeMethod; import org.testng.annotations.Test; import com.google.appengine.api.memcache.MemcacheService; import com.google.appengine.api.memcache.MemcacheServiceFactory; import com.google.appengine.tools.development.testing.LocalMemcacheServiceTestConfig; import com.google.appengine.tools.development.testing.LocalServiceTestHelper; public class MemcacheTest { LocalServiceTestHelper helper; public MemcacheTest() { LocalMemcacheServiceTestConfig memcacheConfig = new LocalMemcacheServiceTestConfig(); helper = new LocalServiceTestHelper(memcacheConfig); } /** * */ @BeforeMethod public void setUp() { helper.setUp(); } /** * @see LocalServiceTest#tearDown() */ @AfterMethod public void tearDown() { helper.tearDown(); } @Test public void memcacheConcurrentAccess() throws InterruptedException { final MemcacheService service = MemcacheServiceFactory.getMemcacheService(); Runnable runner = new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub service.increment("test-key", 1L, 1L); try { Thread.sleep(200L); } catch (InterruptedException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } service.increment("test-key", 1L, 1L); } }; Thread t1 = new Thread(runner); Thread t2 = new Thread(runner); t1.start(); t2.start(); while (t1.isAlive()) { Thread.sleep(100L); } Assert.assertEquals((Long) (service.get("test-key")), new Long(4L)); } }

  • Dynamic Connection Strings for Strongly Typed DataSet in a Class Library using App.Config

    - by Luc
This is my first question on StackOverflow.com and I'm not sure if this is the correct way to do this. I found a similar question titled: Modifying the Data Source for the Strongly Typed Dataset Connection String. However, the answer provided is not working for me. I'm not able to comment on it because I don't have enough "reputation points" (again, I just signed up), and I didn't want to provide an "answer", because I don't know the correct answer. My problem is that I need to be able to modify the connection string inside the generated myproject.dll.config file, but doing so has no effect for me at all. My library still uses the default connection string that was setup at design time. I've tried everything I know to try, but still no luck. I've tried working around the issue using multiple different approaches, but still the problem persists. I can't find any help on the internet with my specific problem either. It would be great if somebody could shed some light as to why my modified config file isn't being read. Useful information: I'm using a Strongly Typed DataSet I don't know the actual connection string at design time. The app.config doesn't allow me to specify a 'User' scoped connection string. I'm tied to a class library (no Windows Forms) Thank you for any help! Luc

  • Why use Django on Google App Engine?

    - by Travis Bradshaw
When researching Google App Engine (GAE), it's clear that using Django is wildly popular for developing in Python on GAE. I've been scouring the web to find information on the costs and benefits of using Django, to find out why it's so popular. While I've been able to find a wide variety of sources on how to run Django on GAE and the various methods of doing so, I haven't found any comparative analysis on why Django is preferable to using the webapp framework provided by Google. To be clear, it's immediately apparent why using Django on GAE is useful for developers with an existing skillset in Django (a majority of Python web developers, no doubt) or existing code in Django (where using GAE is more of a porting exercise). My team, however, is evaluating GAE for use on an all-new project and our existing experience is with TurboGears, not Django. It's been quite difficult to determine why Django is beneficial to a development team when the BigTable libraries have replaced Django's ORM, sessions and authentication are necessarily changed, and Django's templating (if desirable) is available without using the entire Django stack. Finally, it's clear that using Django does have the advantage of providing an "exit strategy" if we later wanted to move away from GAE and need a platform to target for the exodus. I'd be extremely appreciative for help in pointing out why using Django is better than using webapp on GAE. I'm also completely inexperienced with Django, so elaboration on smaller features and/or conveniences that work on GAE are also valuable to me. Thanks in advance for your time!

  • show UIAlertView when In app purchase is in progress

    - by edie
Hi... I've added an UIAlertView that has UIActivityIndicatior as a subview on my application. This alertView only show when the purchase is in progress. I've put my alert view in this way in my StoreObserver: - (void)paymentQueue:(SKPaymentQueue *)queue updatedTransactions:(NSArray *)transactions { for (SKPaymentTransaction *transaction in transactions) { switch (transaction.transactionState) { case SKPaymentTransactionStatePurchasing: [self stillPurchasing]; // this creates an alertView and shows break; case SKPaymentTransactionStatePurchased: [self completeTransaction:transaction]; break; case SKPaymentTransactionStateFailed: [self failedTransaction:transaction]; break; case SKPaymentTransactionStateRestored: [self restoreTransaction:transaction]; break; default: break; } } } - (void) stillPurchasing { UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc]initWithTitle: @"In App Purchase" message: @"Processing your purchase..." delegate: nil cancelButtonTitle: nil otherButtonTitles: nil]; self.alertView = alert; [alert release]; UIActivityIndicatorView *ind = [[UIActivityIndicatorView alloc]initWithActivityIndicatorStyle: UIActivityIndicatorViewStyleWhiteLarge]; self.indicator = ind; [ind release]; [self.indicator startAnimating]; [self.alertView addSubview: self.indicator]; [self.alertView show]; } When I tap my the buy button this UIAlertView shows together with my UIActivityIndicator.. But when the transaction completes the alertView still on the top of the view and the Indicator was the only one that was removed. My question was how should I release the alertView? Or where/When should I release it. I've added these command to release my alertView and Indicator on these cases: case SKPaymentTransactionStatePurchased: case SKPaymentTransactionStateFailed: case SKPaymentTransactionStateRestored: [self.indicator stopAnimating]; [self.indicator removeFromSuperview]; [self.alertView release]; [self.indicator release]; I've only added the alertView to show that the purchasing was still in progress. Any suggestion to create any feedback to users will be thankful for me.. Thanks

  • "image contains error", trying to create and display images using google app engine

    - by bert
Hello all the general idea is to create a galaxy-like map. I run into problems when I try to display a generated image. I used Python Image library to create the image and store it in the datastore. when i try to load the image i get no error on the log console and no image on the browser. when i copy/paste the image link (including datastore key) i get a black screen and the following message: The image “view-source:/localhost:8080/img?img_id=ag5kZXZ-c3BhY2VzaW0xMnINCxIHTWFpbk1hcBgeDA” cannot be displayed because it contains errors. the firefox error console: Error: Image corrupt or truncated: /localhost:8080/img?img_id=ag5kZXZ-c3BhY2VzaW0xMnINCxIHTWFpbk1hcBgeDA import cgi import datetime import urllib import webapp2 import jinja2 import os import math import sys from google.appengine.ext import db from google.appengine.api import users from PIL import Image #SNIP #class to define the map entity class MainMap(db.Model): defaultmap = db.BlobProperty(default=None) #SNIP class Generator(webapp2.RequestHandler): def post(self): #SNIP test = Image.new("RGBA",(100, 100)) dMap=MainMap() dMap.defaultmap = db.Blob(str(test)) dMap.put() #SNIP result = db.GqlQuery("SELECT * FROM MainMap LIMIT 1").fetch(1) if result: print"item found<br>" #debug info if result[0].defaultmap: print"defaultmap found<br>" #debug info string = "<div><img src='/img?img_id=" + str(result[0].key()) + "' width='100' height='100'></img>" print string else: print"nothing found<br>" else: self.redirect('/?=error') self.redirect('/') class Image_load(webapp2.RequestHandler): def get(self): self.response.out.write("started Image load") defaultmap = db.get(self.request.get("img_id")) if defaultmap.defaultmap: try: self.response.headers['Content-Type'] = "image/png" self.response.out.write(defaultmap.defaultmap) self.response.out.write("Image found") except: print "Unexpected error:", sys.exc_info()[0] else: self.response.out.write("No image") #SNIP app = webapp2.WSGIApplication([('/', MainPage), ('/generator', Generator), ('/img', Image_load)], debug=True) the browser shows the "item found" and "defaultmap found" strings and a broken imagelink the exception handling does not catch any errors Thanks for your help Regards Bert

  • Refreshing WEB-INF/lib in Google App Engine (with Eclipse)

    - by Adrian Petrescu
Hi, I've created a new Google App Engine project within Eclipse. I copied several JARs that I need for my application into the WEB-INF/lib directory, and add them to the build path. I make some random calls to these JARs from within the handler, deploy, and everything works fine. However, if I then change one of the JARs outside the project, and copy the new version to WEB-INF/lib (with the same name) and re-deploy, it doesn't seem to be sending the new JAR; everything is still linking to the old one even though it's not even in my WEB-INF/lib anymore. I'm guessing it's being cached by the server or Eclipse is not even realizing something has changed in order to upload the new version. If I just create a new project with the new JAR, everything is fine again (until I have to make another change...) but of course I don't want to have to create a new project for every change to a dependency I make. My question is, how can I make GAE re-upload all the JARs I have from within Eclipse? Thanks in advance, guys :) -Adrian

  • Debugging a Google Web Toolkit application that has an error when deployed on Google App Engine

    - by gerdemb
I have a Google Web Toolkit application that I am deploying to Google App Engine. In the deployed application, I am getting a JavaScript error Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'f' of null. This sounds like the JavaScript equivalent of a Java NullPointerException. The problem is that the GWT JavaScript is obfuscated, so it's impossible to debug in the browser and I can't reproduce the same problem in hosted mode where I could use the Java debugger. I think the reason I'm only seeing the error on the deployed application is that the database I'm using on the GAE server is triggering something differently than the test database I'm using during testing and development. So, any ideas about the best way to proceed? I've thought of the following things: Deploy a non-obsfucated version of my application. Despite a lot of Googling, I can't figure out how to do this using the automatic deploy script provided with the Google Eclipse Plugin. Does anyone know? Download and copy my GAE data to the local server Somehow point my development code to use the GAE server for data instead of the local test database. This seems like the best idea... Can anyone suggest how to proceed here? Finally, is there a way to catch these JavaScript errors on the production server and log them somewhere? Without logging, I won't have anyway to know if my users are having errors that don't occur on the server. The GWT.log() function is automatically stripped out of the production code...

  • Show users a list of unique items on Java Google App Engine

    - by James
I've been going round in circles with what must be a very simple challenge but I want to do it the most efficient way from the start. So, I've watched Brett Slatkin's Google IO videos (2008 & 2009) about building scalable apps including http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgaL6NGpkB8 and read the docs but as a n00b, I'm still not sure. I'm trying to build an app on GAEJ similar to the original 'hotornot' where a user is presented with an item which they rate. Once they rate it, they are presented with another one which they haven't seen before. My question is this; is it most efficient to do a query up front to grab x items (say 100) and put them in a list (stored in memcache?) or is it better to simply make a query for a new item after each rating. To keep track of the items a user has seen, I'm planning to keep those items' keys in a list property of the user's entity. Does that sound sensible? I've really got myself confused about this so any help would be much appreciated.

  • get_by_id method on Model classes in Google App Engine Datastore

    - by tarn
I'm unable to workout how you can get objects from the Google App Engine Datastore using get_by_id. Here is the model from google.appengine.ext import db class Address(db.Model): description = db.StringProperty(multiline=True) latitude = db.FloatProperty() longitdue = db.FloatProperty() date = db.DateTimeProperty(auto_now_add=True) I can create them, put them, and retrieve them with gql. address = Address() address.description = self.request.get('name') address.latitude = float(self.request.get('latitude')) address.longitude = float(self.request.get('longitude')) address.put() A saved address has values for >> address.key() aglndWVzdGJvb2tyDQsSB0FkZHJlc3MYDQw >> address.key().id() 14 I can find them using the key from google.appengine.ext import db address = db.get('aglndWVzdGJvb2tyDQsSB0FkZHJlc3MYDQw') But can't find them by id >> from google.appengine.ext import db >> address = db.Model.get_by_id(14) The address is None, when I try >> Address.get_by_id(14) AttributeError: type object 'Address' has no attribute 'get_by_id' How can I find by id? EDIT: It turns out I'm an idiot and was trying find an Address Model in a function called Address. Thanks for your answers, I've marked Brandon as the correct answer as he got in first and demonstrated it should all work.

  • Google App Engine datastore encoding?

    - by sernaferna
I'm using the GAE datastore for a Java application, and storing some text that will be in numerous languages. In my servlet, I'm first checking to see if there's any data in the data store, and, if not, I'm creating some, similar to the following: ArrayList<Lang> list = new ArrayList<Lang>(); list.add(new Lang("EN", "English", 1)); list.add(new Lang("ES", "Español", 0)); //more languages here... PersistenceManager pm = PMF.get().getPersistenceManager(); for(Lang l : list) { pm.makePersistent(l); } Since this is using JDO, I guess I should include the relevent parts of the Lang class too: @PersistenceCapable public class Lang { @PrimaryKey private String code; @Persistent private String name; @Persistent private int popularity; // getters & setters & constructors... } However, the non-ASCII characters are giving me grief. I've set my Eclipse project to use the UTF-8 encoding instead of the default Cp1252, so I think I'm okay from that perspective, but when I use the App Engine Data Viewer to look at my data, that Español entry becomes Español, and when I click on it to view it, I get a 500 Server Error. (There are some other entries with right-to-left text that don't even show up in the Data Viewer at all, but one problem at a time...) Is there anything special I can do in my code to set the character encoding, or specify to GAE that the data I'm storing is UTF-8? Or is the problem on the Eclipse side, and is there something I should be doing with my Java code?

  • Google App-Engine Java Batch Update

    - by Manjoor
    I need to upload a .csv file and save the records in bigtable. My application successfully parse 200 the records in the csv files and save to table. Here is my code to save the data. for (int i=0;i<lines.length -1;i++) //lines hold total records in csv file { String line = lines[i]; //The record have 3 columns integer,integer,Text if(line.length() > 15) { int n = line.indexOf(","); if (n>0) { int ID = lInteger.parseInt(ine.substring(0,n)); int n1 = line.indexOf(",", n + 2); if(n1 > n) { int Col1 = Integer.parseInt(line.substring(n + 1, n1)); String Col2 = line.substring(n1 + 1); myTable uu = new myTable(); uu.setId(ID); uu.setCol1(MobNo); Text t = new Text(Col2); uu.setCol2(t); PersistenceManager pm = PMF.get().getPersistenceManager(); pm.makePersistent(uu); pm.close(); } } } } But when no of records grow it gives timeout error. The csv file may have upto 800 records. Is it possible to do that in App-Engine? (something like batch update)

  • Load javascript in app engine

    - by user624392
I got so confused loading javascript in app engine. I am using django template. In my base html file. First I can't load my downloaded jquery from local say d:/jquery.js like <script src="d:\jquery.js" type="text/javascript" ></script></head>, This line is in my base html file. It works when I load jquery from remote. Like <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.5.1/jquery.min.js"type="text/javascript" ></script></head> I dont know why. Second, I can't load my own-created javascript to my html file, say I create a javascript like layout. Js and I try to load it like this in my child html file, which, by the way, inherits from the base html. <body><script src="layout.js" type="text/javascript"></script></body>, And it doesn't work at all, the only way it works I have tried is that I put the actual javascript in the body of my base html file. Like <body><script> $(document).ready( $("#yes"). Click(function() { $("#no"). Hide("slow"); })); </script> I dont know why either... Any help?

  • Query distinct list of choices for Django form with App Engine Datastore

    - by Brian
I've been trying to figure this out for hours across a couple of days, and can not get it to work. I've been everywhere. I'll continue trying to figure it out, but was hoping for a quicker solution. I'm using App Engine datastore + Django. Using a query in a view and custom forms, I was able to get a list to the form but then I was not able to post. I have been trying to figure out how to dynamically add the choices as part of the Django form... I've tried various ways with no success. Help! Below are the two models. I'd like to get a distinct list of address_id to show in the location field in InfoForm. This fields could (and maybe should) be named the same, but I thought it'd be easier if they were named different. class Info(db.Model): user = db.UserProperty() location = db.StringProperty() info = db.StringProperty() created = db.DateTimeProperty(auto_now_add=True) modified = db.DateTimeProperty(auto_now=True) class Locations(db.Model): user = db.UserProperty() address_id = db.StringProperty() address = db.StringProperty() class InfoForm(djangoforms.ModelForm): info = forms.ChoiceField(choices=INFO_CHOICES) location = forms.ChoiceField() class Meta: model = Info exclude = ['user','created','modified']

  • Google App Engine error Object Manager has been closed

    - by newbie
I had following error from Google App Engine when I was trying to iterate list in JSP page with EL. Object Manager has been closed I solved problem with following coe, but I don't think that it is very good solution to this problem: public List<Item> getItems() { PersistenceManager pm = getPersistenceManager(); Query query = pm.newQuery("select from " + Item.class.getName()); List<Item> items = (List<Items>) query.execute(); List<Item> items2 = new ArrayList<Item>(); // This line solved my problem Collections.copy(items, items2); // and this also pm.close(); return (List<Item>) items; } When I tried to use pm.detachCopyAll(items) it gave same error. I understood that detachCopyAll() method should do same what I did, but that method should be part of data nucelus, so it should be used instead of my owm methods. So why dosen't detachCopyAll() work at all?

  • Implementing Unowned relationship Google App Engine

    - by nwallman
My question is more of a best practices question on how to implement unowned relationships with Google App Engine. I am using JDO to do my persistence and like recommended in the google docs I'm persisting my list of unowned relationships like so: @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION) public class User implements Serializable, UserDetails { ... @Persistent private List<Key> groups; ... } Now I came across my predicament when I went to query that list of objects using they Key object. So when I get my list of group keys in order to actually return a list of Group objects I have to do a look up on that key to get the object. My question is what is the recommended way of doing a unowned look up on a model object? Should I have an instance of the PersistanceManagerFactory on my Model object so I can do a lookup? Should I have an instance of my GroupDAO object on my Model object so I can do a look up? Should I have a Utility to do this type of lookup? I'm new to this so I just want to know which is the best way to do this. Thanks.

  • Xbox360 Universal Media Remote - out of sync?

    - by Traveling Tech Guy
Hi, I have the Universal Media Remote from Microsoft, which was included with my HD-DVD package. I've been using it for over a year to watch videos/DVDs on my Xbox360 and it saved me the hassle of navigating with the game controller (which turns itself off every 5 minutes). All of a sudden (it didn't fall or suffer any severe trauma), it does not communicate with the Xbox anymore: it is on, I replaced batteries several times, but the Xbox does not respond to commands. The TV does - volume, channels, etc. - but I need the Xbox functionality. As far as I can see, there's no way to sync the remote with the Xbox - it lacks that small sync button that the game controllers have.I called Microsoft Support and spoke for an hour to someone who, I guess didn't know what to do at all. Bottom line - since it's been over a year, they won't fix/replace it - I have to get a new one. Before I do (if I do), I need to know if there's anything I can do with the existing remote, and will I have the same problem with a new one (i.e. the problem is with the Xbox itself)? Thanks!

    - by nok
I downloaded java SDK from Google App Engine. I tried running appcfg.cmd from command prompt. But it gives this error. Error opening registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment' Error: could not find java.dll Error: could not find Java 2 Runtime Environment. All i want to do with Google App Engine is to set up cron jobs with 1 minute frequency. I don't want to make any application in Google App Engine. I just want the cron job set up. Is there any way to set up cron job in Google App Engine without using the java SDK ???

  • Is there a way to add a custom favicon to an App Tab?

    - by Iszi
Since the release of Firefox "5", I've come to really love the new "App Tabs" feature. However, I've now realized that several internal websites at work do not have favicons. So, when I make an App Tab out of these sites, there's only a "blank page" icon in the tab. Perhaps I wouldn't mind so much if there was only one, but there's at least two or three of these. So, it's just a bit annoying to have to mouse-over the App Tabs to figure out which is what. I've tried using Favicon Picker 2 to change the bookmark icons, but it only does exactly that - changes the icon in the bookmarks folder. It doesn't change the favicon that's displayed next to the URL in the Address Bar, or the one next to the page title in tabs - the latter being that which is used for the App Tab icon. So, is there a plugin or other client-side (and preferably "Joe User" friendly) method to assign an icon to a web page or domain, that will be used in the tab bar?

  • How do I make Mail.app quit after iCal sends an alert?

    - by Chuy77
iCal uses a built in script file to email reminders through Mail.app. It works great, but I don't use Mail.app for my main email account, just for sending calendar notifications. So, Mail.app opens and sends the alert, but then it stays open. I've tried to edit the applescript file to make it quit Mail, but that doesn't seem to work. Can anyone offer some advice? Thanks :-)

  • Do you know of any alternative to "Google App Engine"?

    - by brilliant
On their presentation of "Google App Engine" Google team members boldly said: "You write a code and we will run it for you". Then the "Google App Engine" was launched and it still does its job quite successfully - "Google App Engine" runs millions of applications of different sizes belonging to different users completely free!!! Now, here is the question: Do You know of any alternative to GAE? Have You ever even heard of any such service out there that would run Your Python code for free?

  • Webcam on Sony Vaio on Win 7 problem

    - by Norm
Anyone know where I can get a Win 7 32Bit driver for my Web Cam (Vaio VGN-CR11H/B) ? I changed operating system from Chinese Vista to English Win 7 Update: Windows 7 will not detect the cam, but I just read the Sony Europe site and it gives me some ideas to try. I can dual boot this Sony laptop: with Chinese Vista, the camera works but IE8 does not work. I cannot read Chinese to fix the Internet access issue, but I can get the computer online and Skype works. When I boot with the new Win 7, IE 8 works great, but the cam doesn't work (mic and speakers work). Very perplexing problem.

  • Dual Boot Win8 and Win7 - Win 7 fails while booting

    - by bjan
Below are my dual boot settings. Both are on different partitions, default is Windows 8. Both were working fine. There are multiple users of this machine, few run 8 while few 7. All 7's users are novice and they use Internet only. I frequently update Windows 8 but not 7. Few weeks ago, Win 7 stopped booting. Machine gets restarted while booting with 7(Windows 7 start up glowing-Win-logo-screen does not appear) and the 8's loader reappears. Win 7's partition still exists and contains Windows folder What steps should i take to check the problem?
