  • Zend Mail - bouncing mails not returning to the specified "Return-Path"

    Hi, i'm working on a simple mail list app in PHP using Zend Mail. The idea is that all mail that bounce is redirected to a script which processes them and a report is generated. The script is running ok in direct tests, but I've testing it with fake mail address to test the mail list app, and it appears that the mail is not being redirected to the correct email address. Zend Mail provides the setReturnPath method to set the "Return-Path" header, it's ok to use this header for this purpose? Thanks

But what about when you change window.location in a client-side script? Does this immediately stop execution of the current script or is it up to the programmer to make sure that any code located after this call is not reached?

    I'm using MS SQL 2008. Is it possible to create a script to loop over all tables in a database generating a set of index drop scripts and create scripts separately? What I have to do is drop all indexes on a set of databases to run a heavy data load process but then I want to re-enable all the indexes. I don't want to have to go through each table and script an index drop and then index create. Thanks!

  • jQuery DataTables is messing op my CSS grids in IE8, how to fix?

    I am using ASP.NET MVC3 with the jQuery Datatable plug in. I am having an issues with my CSS layout when the datatable is on a page. If there is no datatable then everything displays fine. When the datatable is on the screen then it overlaps the footer of my website. I can't seem to get this to display correctly. I have a grid layout using the YUI3, and this is what I all use from YUI3 (in this order): cssreset-min cssfonts-min cssgrids-min cssbase-min This works fine in the latest version of FireFox. I am only testing on IE8, this is a requirement and most of the people at my work uses IE8. I have minified my HTML so that only the bare minimum is available.   • Why is my javascript function sometimes "not defined"?

    Problem: I call my javascript function, and sometimes I get the error 'myFunction is not defined'. But it is defined. For example. I'll occasionally get 'copyArray is not defined' even in this example: function copyArray( pa ) { var la = []; for (var i=0; i < pa.length; i++) la.push( pa[i] ); return la; } Function.prototype.bind = function( po ) { var __method = this; var __args = []; // sometimes errors -- in practice I inline the function as a workaround __args = copyArray( arguments ); return function() { /* bind logic omitted for brevity */ } } As you can see, copyArray is defined right there, so this can't be about the order in which script files load. I've been getting this in situations that are harder to work around, where the calling function is located in another file that should be loaded after the called function. But this was the simplest case I could present, and appears to be the same problem. It doesn't happen 100% of the time, so I do suspect some kind of load-timing-related problem. But I have no idea what. @Hojou: That's part of the problem. The function in which I'm now getting this error is itself my addLoadEvent, which is basically a standard version of the common library function. @James: I understand that, and there is no syntax error in the function. When that is the case, the syntax error is reported as well. In this case, I am getting only the 'not defined' error. @David: The script in this case resides in an external file that is referenced using the normal <script src="file.js"></script> method in the page's head section. @Douglas: Interesting idea, but if this were the case, how could we ever call a user-defined function with confidence? In any event, I tried this and it didn't work. @sk: This technique has been tested across browsers and is basically copied from the prototype library.

  • Time Zones for different users

    I am creating a script that allows the user to choose their own timezone... If I am to make this work, how do I store dates in the database so that every timezone will read it, and show the correct date in their timezone? Do I store the date as GMT and then when a user with the timezone GMT +10 selected views the item within my script, I show that date in GMT +10 time? Is there a better way to do this? Examples would be great :)

  • Is it possible to programatically catch JavaScript SyntaxErrors?

    I don't think that this is doable, but wanted to throw it out to the community to confirm my suspicions. Let's say you're writing a program in another language like Python, PHP, or ASP. This program is intended to build another program written in JavaScript. However, the first program is unfortunately not immune to errors. So, occasionally, the program which builds the JavaScript program does some funky stuff and outputs a syntax error in the JavaScript source. Now some user goes and loads the program and it essentially halts, because the web browser running it can't properly parse the JavaScript. This user is probably not going to be happy. I wouldn't be. This brings me to my question. Is it possible to write an error handler that would catch these kind of syntax problems allowing the application to fail gracefully?   • Best practices for developing simple ASP.NET sites (built in controls or JQuery + scripts)

    I was recently reviewing some code written by two different contractors, both were basic ASP.NET management sites. The sites allowed the user to view and edit data. Pretty much simple CRUD gateways. One group did their best to use built in ASP + AJAX Toolkit controls and did their best to use as many built in controls as possible. I found the code much easier to read and maintain. The other used jQuery and the code is heavily marked up with script blocks which are then used to build pages from javascript files. Which one is more common? The one that basically leveraged embedded HTML markup in scripts controled by javascript files screams readability and maintenance issues? Is this just the way of doing asp dev with jQuery? Assuming the second example happens a lot, are there tools that help facilitate jQuery development with visual studio? Do you think they generated the html somewhere else and just copied it in?
