  • Efficient Map Overlays in and drawing Lines on Android Google Map...

    - by Ahsan
    Hi Friends, I want to do the following and am kind of stuck on these for a few days.... 1) I have used helloItemizedOverlay to add about 150 markers and it gets very very slow.....any idea what to do ? I was thinking about threads....(handler) ... 2) I was trying to draw poly lines ( I have encoded polylines, but have managed to decoded those) that move when I move the map..... 3) I was looking for some sort of a timer class that executes, say, every 1 minute or so.... 4) I was also looking for ways to clear the Google map from all the markers/lines etc.... Thanks a lot... :) - ahsan

  • In Android (on JB), how can I add an action to a custom rich notification?

    - by user496854
    I've been playing with the new rich notificaitons in Jelly Bean, and everything works as expected when I set up a new notificaiton using the templates Notification.BigPictureStyle, Notification.BigTextStyle, or Notification.InboxStyle. I can use the Notification.Builder.addAction() method, and the action buttons show up at the bottom of the extended notification. But when I try to create a cutsom notification using Notification.bigContentView, the action buttons never show up. Just to clarify, if I never set bigContentView, the buttons do show up. But as soon as that field is set to a custom RemoteViews object, the buttons are gone. Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening?

  • getting all contacts (including from other syncAdapters) in android content handler.

    - by eyal
    Hi i have this Query: private Cursor getContacts(CharSequence constraint) { boolean hasConstrains = constraint != null && constraint.length() != 0; Uri uri = ContactsContract.Contacts.CONTENT_URI; String[] projection = new String[]{ContactsContract.Contacts._ID, ContactsContract.Contacts.DISPLAY_NAME }; String selection = hasConstrains ? projection[1] + " LIKE '"+constraint+"%'" : null; String[] selectionArgs = null; String sortOrder = ContactsContract.Contacts.DISPLAY_NAME + " ASC"; return managedQuery(uri, projection, selection, selectionArgs, sortOrder); } The first time issue it i give null as parameter to the function to the selection parameter is empty, meaning i don't filter any rows. The problem is i get only contacts i created myself using no syncAdapter. I used facebook app to synch my facebook contacts, but this query doesn't return them. I extracted the contacts2.db from the emulator and the view_contacts view shows me all the contacts, so the DB is updated. What should i do to get all the contacts regardless of how they were created (with which synch adapter)

  • Problem in Setting image in imageview inside ListView in Android?

    - by sunil
    Hi, I have a listview which includes 2 textviews and 1 imageview. Now, the image in imageview will be set on certain conditions otherwise it should be left blank with no image. The problem is the images are not coming in proper rows. Say, for eg the image should be displayed at row 3 but its displayed at row 4. And, in some cases each row will have the same image. Has someone faced this kind of an issue? I am really clueless about the reason behind this. Can anyone point out the problem? Regards Sunil

  • Android: GPS location updates when the cellphone is in sleep?

    - by wei
    I need to update the location through GPS in the background even when the phone is in sleep. I am thinking to use AlarmManager to broadcast an Intent and then a receiver will call requestLocationUpdates() on LocationManager. But I am not sure whether it's guaranteed that the GPS location will be updated when the phone is in sleep and an intent will be broadcasted if I registered a PendingIntent when call requestLocationUpdates()? thanks,

  • How to change one Button background in a gridview? -- Android

    - by Tstop Studios
    I have a GridView with 16 ImageView buttons. My program makes a random number and when the user clicks a button in the gridview, i want it to take the random number (0-15) and set the background of the tile with the same position as the random number (0-15) to a different image. How can I just change one of the buttons background? Here's my code so far: public class ButtonHider extends Activity { Random random = new Random(); int pos; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.button_hider); pos = random.nextInt(15); GridView gridview = (GridView) findViewById(R.id.gvBH); gridview.setAdapter(new ImageAdapter(this)); gridview.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View v, int position, long id) { pos = random.nextInt(16); if (position == pos) { Toast.makeText(ButtonHider.this, "Found Me!", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } else { Toast.makeText(ButtonHider.this, "Try Again!!", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } } }); } public class ImageAdapter extends BaseAdapter { private Context mContext; public ImageAdapter(Context c) { mContext = c; } public int getCount() { return 16; } public Object getItem(int position) { return null; } public long getItemId(int position) { return 0; } // create a new ImageView for each item referenced by the Adapter public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { ImageView imageView; if (convertView == null) { // if it's not recycled, initialize some // attributes imageView = new ImageView(mContext); imageView.setLayoutParams(new GridView.LayoutParams(100, 100)); imageView.setScaleType(ImageView.ScaleType.CENTER_CROP); imageView.setPadding(15, 15, 15, 15); } else { imageView = (ImageView) convertView; } imageView.setImageResource(R.drawable.bh_b); return imageView; } } }

  • ClassCaseException on GL11ExtensionPack. Rendering to texture on OpenGL android

    - by Joe
    I'm trying to render to a texture (really thought it would be easier than this!) I found this resource: which seems to be exactly what I want I'm getting a ClassCastException however, on GL11ExtensionPack gl11ep = (GL11ExtensionPack) gl; Can anyone tell me why? public void renderToTexture(GLRenderer glRenderer, GL10 gl) { boolean checkIfContextSupportsExtension = checkIfContextSupportsExtension(gl, "GL_OES_framebuffer_object"); if(checkIfContextSupportsExtension) { GL11ExtensionPack gl11ep = (GL11ExtensionPack) gl; int mFrameBuffer = createFrameBuffer(gl,texture.getWidth(), texture.getHeight(), texture.getGLID()); gl11ep.glBindFramebufferOES(GL11ExtensionPack.GL_FRAMEBUFFER_OES, mFrameBuffer); gl.glViewport(0, 0,texture.getWidth(), texture.getHeight()); gl.glLoadIdentity(); int halfWidth = texture.getWidth()/2;//width/2; int halfHeight = texture.getHeight()/2;//height/2; GLU.gluOrtho2D(gl, -halfWidth, halfWidth , -halfHeight, halfHeight); gl.glMatrixMode(GL10.GL_MODELVIEW); gl.glLoadIdentity(); gl.glEnable(GL10.GL_TEXTURE_2D); Quad quad = new Quad(texture.getWidth(), texture.getHeight()); quad.setTexture(texture); SpriteRenderable sr = new SpriteRenderable(quad); //sr.setPosition(new Interpolation<Vector2>(new Vector2(-(float)texture.getWidth()/2f,-(float)texture.getHeight()/2f))); //sr.setPosition(new Interpolation<Vector2>(new Vector2((float)(texture.getWidth()/2f),0))); //sr.setPosition(new Interpolation<Vector2>(new Vector2(200,-200))); sr.setAngle(0.05f); sr.renderTo(glRenderer, gl, 1); for (Renderable renderable : renderThese) { if (renderable.isVisible()) { renderable.renderTo(glRenderer, gl, 1); } } gl11ep.glBindFramebufferOES(GL11ExtensionPack.GL_FRAMEBUFFER_OES, 0); } }

  • .NET Application broken on one PC, unhandleable exception

    - by Bobby
    Hello people. I have a .NET 2.0 application with nothing fancy in it. It worked until yesterday on every PC I installed or copied it to, no matter if 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 or 3.5 SP1 was installed, no matter if it was Win2000, XP or even Win7 (in total 100+ machines). Yesterday I did my normal installation procedure and wanted to start it one time to check if everything is working...and it wasn't. The program crashed hard leaving me with the uninformative "Do you wanna report this error?" dialog. The problem is an exception in the Main(String[] args) routine of my application. The event viewer is showing the following entry: Event Type: ErrorEvent Source: .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting Event Category: None Event ID: 5000 Date: 05/05/2010 Time: 16:09:09 User: N/A Computer: myClientPC Description: EventType clr20r3, P1 apomenu.exe, P2 1.4.90.53, P3 4bdedea4, P4 system.configuration, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 4889de74, P7 1a6, P8 136, P9 ioibmurhynrxkw0zxkyrvfn0boyyufow, P10 NIL. Well...great information. After a lot of searching I finally was able to get further information about this exception (by adding a handler for UnhandledExceptions directly in My.MyApplication.New(), Application.Designer.vb): System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException Configuration system failed to initialize at System.Configuration.ClientConfigurationSystem.EnsureInit(String configKey) at System.Configuration.ClientConfigurationSystem.PrepareClientConfigSystem(String sectionName) at System.Configuration.ClientConfigurationSystem.System.Configuration.Internal.IInternalConfigSystem.GetSection(String sectionName) at System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.GetSection(String sectionName) at System.Configuration.PrivilegedConfigurationManager.GetSection(String sectionName) at System.Net.Configuration.SettingsSectionInternal.get_Section() at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.InitializeSockets() at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.get_SupportsIPv4() at Microsoft.VisualBasic.ApplicationServices.WindowsFormsApplicationBase.get_HostName() at Microsoft.VisualBasic.ApplicationServices.WindowsFormsApplicationBase.RegisterChannel(Boolean SecureChannel) at Microsoft.VisualBasic.ApplicationServices.WindowsFormsApplicationBase.Run(String[] commandLine) at MyAppNameHere.My.MyApplication.Main(String[] Args) in 17d14f5c-a337-4978-8281-53493378c1071.vb:Line 81. And at this point I'm stuck...I'm out of ideas. I'm not using any kind of configuration system from the framework (no reference to System.Configuration, and there never was a MyAppnameHere.exe.config generated or distributed, nor have I seen this error before). I also found a bug report at Microsoft (Google Cache) about this bug (in another context, though). But as it seems, they won't even look at it. Every help is greatly appreciated! Edit: I'm using Visual Studio 2008 Prof.. Crash happens in Release- and Debug-Build on the client machine. Debugging the application directly on this machine is out of question I fear, 300+ Miles and they only have two computers to work with.

  • CustomListAdapter Problem in Android? How???

    - by Praveen Chandrasekaran
    i want to improve the list view's performance. this is the code for my getView method in my Adapter? public View getView(int arg0, View text_view_name, ViewGroup parent) { try { if (text_view_name == null) { text_view_name = mInflater.inflate( R.layout.bs_content_list_item1, null); text_view_name.setTag(R.id.text1_detail1, text_view_name .findViewById(R.id.text1_detail1)); text_view_name.setTag(R.id.text3_detail1, text_view_name .findViewById(R.id.text3_detail1)); text_view_name.setTag(R.id.eve_img_detail1, text_view_name .findViewById(R.id.eve_img_detail1)); } text1 = (TextView) text_view_name.getTag(R.id.text1_detail1); // text2 = (TextView) text_view_name.getTag(R.id.text2); text3 = (TextView) text_view_name.getTag(R.id.text3_detail1); img = (ImageView) text_view_name.getTag(R.id.eve_img_detail1); text1.setText(VAL1[arg0]); text3.setText(VAL3[arg0]); if (!mBusy) { img_value = new URL(VAL4[arg0]); mIcon11 = BitmapFactory.decodeStream(img_value.openConnection() .getInputStream()); img.setImageBitmap(mIcon11); text_view_name.setTag(R.id.eve_img_detail1, null); } else { img.setImageResource(R.drawable.icon); text_view_name.setTag(R.id.eve_img_detail1, text_view_name .findViewById(R.id.eve_img_detail1)); } } catch (Exception e) { name = "Exception in MultiLine_bar_details1 getView"; Log.v(TAG, name + e); } return text_view_name; } this is the code for scrollstatechanged method: public void onScrollStateChanged(AbsListView view, int scrollState) { switch (scrollState) { case OnScrollListener.SCROLL_STATE_IDLE: try { MultiLine_bar_details1.mBusy = false; int first = view.getFirstVisiblePosition(); int count = view.getCount(); for (int i = 0; i < count; i++) { ImageView t = (ImageView) view.getChildAt(i); if (t.getTag(R.id.eve_img_detail1) != null) { MultiLine_bar_details1.img_value = new URL( MultiLine_bar_details1.VAL4[first + i]); MultiLine_bar_details1.mIcon11 = BitmapFactory .decodeStream(MultiLine_bar_details1.img_value .openConnection().getInputStream()); MultiLine_bar_details1.img.setImageBitmap(MultiLine_bar_details1.mIcon11); t.setTag(R.id.eve_img_detail1, null); } } } catch (Exception e) { Log.v(TAG, "Idle" + e); } // mStatus.setText("Idle"); break; case OnScrollListener.SCROLL_STATE_TOUCH_SCROLL: MultiLine_bar_details1.mBusy = true; break; case OnScrollListener.SCROLL_STATE_FLING: MultiLine_bar_details1.mBusy = true; break; } } this is very complicated for me to get the output properly. actually i have the listview with custom adapter. that icons makes the listview scroll very slow.i am getting the images for icons from the image urls. upto this(above code) i can improve the scroll performance of my list view. but the image icons are not proper in the corresponding order. its dynamically changing when i scroll the listview.. i refered the commonsware busy coder guide and this blog. My very Big question is "How can we access the single view in scrollstatechanged parameter AbsListView? " what is the problem in it? how to do it better? Any Idea?
