  Hi, I have some code updating a dropdownlist, and then I fire the "change" event manually. It works like it should in firefox, opera and so on, but not in Internet Explorer. Any idea why? • CSS3 text-shadow effect with jQuery

  Hello, I wanted to be able to create a effect identical to CSS3 text-shadow Property, making it available to browsers that doesn’t support this CSS3 Property (like IE 7 and 8). And so I found two plugins: Text Shadow and Drop Shadow Effect. I decided to use Text Shadow, because it was released in the end of 2008, and because it was more straightforward. This worked great for IE8. However in IE7 shadows have twice the distance to the text, and links are weird. IE8 image IE7 image I am searching for a fix, or an alternative to this problem.

  I'm trying to give my plugin callback functionality, and I'd like for it to operate in a somewhat traditional way: myPlugin({options}, function() { /* code to execute */ }); or myPlugin({options}, anotherFunction()); How do I handle that parameter in the code? Is it treated as one full entity? I'm pretty sure I know where I'd place the executory code, but how do I get the code to execute? I can't seem to find a lot of literature on the topic, so thanks in advance for your help.

  Hey everyone I created a date picker that uses ajax to populate an element with an id of calendarContainer. When the user clicks on a button to bring the calendar up, I want the user to be able to click anywhere else on the screen besides the calendar and have it hide. The calendarContainer is at the root of the dom and I have tried everything I can think of to get this working. I have gotten the calendar to go away when it is not clicked on. However, when I click on the calendar it is also going away. I only want the calendar to go away when it is not clicked on. • jQuery UI: moving items from one list to another

  While this should be relatively straightforward, I can't figure out how to move (rather than copy) LI elements between ULs. All I want is to drag any item from list foo to list bar (or vice versa) without duplicating the element. While connectToSortable does almost exactly what I want (though I'd prefer to avoid sortable), it clones the element - and manually removing the original element by reacting to the stop event turns out to be not so easy (e.g. ensuring that a valid drop actually happened). A simple "hello world" example would help me greatly.

  Lately I found myself using jQuery and JavaScript a lot, often to do the same things that I did before using CSS. For example, I alternate table rows color or create buttons and links hover effects using JavaScript/jQuery. Is this acceptable? Or should I keep using CSS for these kinds of things? So the real question is: When I'm using too much jQuery? How can I understand when I'm crossing the line?

I set breakpoints on the lines directly beneath the comments in the code above. Breakpoint 1 hits every 5 seconds. However, Breakpoint 2 and 3 never hit. Why are neither of the toggle function's handlers firing?
