  • Examples of good Javascript/HTML5 based games

    Now that Flash is largely being replaced with HTML5 elements (video, audio, canvas, etc.) are there any good examples of web-based games built on completely open standards (meaning Javascript, HTML and CSS)? I see a lot of examples of pure HTML5 implementations of what was once only in Flash (like stuff here: http://www.html5rocks.com/) but not many games, a domain which still seem dominated by Flash. I'm curious what's possible and what the limitations are.

  • Why does switching users completely hang my system every time?

    I have a fresh install of 11.04 64bit, with 2 administrator accounts and 4 normal accounts. The 4 normal accounts (the kids' accounts) don't have passwords, they can login simply by clicking on their names. When any of the users -- either admin or normal -- tries to switch to another account by clicking in the top-right corner of the screen and selecting another user, the screen goes black and the entire system locks up. Even CTRL+ALT+F1 through F7 does nothing. This is reproducible 100% of the time on this system. I can ssh into the box when the console locks up, and by running top, I see that Xorg is consuming about 100% of the CPU.   • ATI RS690m X1200 proprietary driver installation

    I've installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my emachine e625 AMD64 (TF-20) with an ATI RS690m X1200 graphics card but I didn't have 3D acceleration. The open-source driver works, except for any video effects or acceleration… I've downloaded the driver from ATI and followed the installation instructions and here is the result: Error: ./default_policy.sh does not support version default:v2:x86_64:lib32::none:3.0.0-17-generic; make sure that the version is being correctly set by --iscurrentdistro What did I do wrong?

  • Using both .co.uk and .com domain

    We presently have a .co.uk domain that has been live now for around 9-10 months, recently the .com version of this domain has become available and we've purchased based on reading that suggests you should try and go for .com where possible. My issue now is, what should I do with the .com? Should I use this in favour of the .co.uk or use both? I'm concerned that rankings might be affected if I completely replace the .co.uk with the .com. Any suggestions?

    How can I add watermark to my MP4 (compatible with Flash player and HTML5 player)? ffmpeg -y -i video.mp4 -acodec copy -b 400k -vf "movie=logo.png [watermark]; [in][watermark] overlay=main_w/2-overlay_w/2:main_h/2-overlay_h/2 [out]" /var/www/videos/out.mp4 The above command works fine in VLC, Windows Media Player, but the HTML5 player can't play out.mp4, Flash player plays only sound. ffmpeg was installed with this command: sudo apt-get install ffmpeg. What am I doing wrong?

I opened Synaptic Package manager and installed the following: nvidia-common nvidia-settings-update nvidia-common nvidia-current nvidia-current-updates The following were installed before(when unity launcher looked normal): jockey-common psensor nvidia-settings jockey-gtk xserver-xorg-video-nouveau My intention was to use the right Nvidia drivers. But apparently it didn't rightly install the drivers and now I have Unity 2D running!

    Hello, I'm trying to install Ubuntu 10.10 32bit on this pc. I have both tried with Wubi from Windows and from USB stick, but after the installation process when I select to boot Ubuntu the screen becomes black and nothing happens (btw I can hear the cpu running)! Notice that maybe it is something related to the graphic card of the pc, since when I use Ubuntu in live mode or during the installation process all the graphics and colors are messed up as if there wasn't an appropriate diriver... What can I do?? Thanks

  • Non-public site for testing on shared-hosting site

    Is it possible to as a developer using a shared hosting site such as bluehost, hostgator, and the like, to view your site without making it public. Or do the files you upload always go live immediately? Is the best way to test a site (if using shared hosting) to just set up some apache/mysql/php service on my machine?     Having a website that generates and receives JSON requests via AJAX, I failed to find a tool that shows me live the communication including the content of the JSON calls. I thought that the Google Chrome developer tools or the IE 9 developer tools do have such a feature, but again, I failed. Searching Google, I failed too. So my question is: Is there a client-side tool to monitor the content of JSON requests that a website sends to the server?
