  • Changing the cell range of conditional formatting in LibreOffice Calc

    Is there any way of changing the range of conditional formatting in LibreOffice Calc (version 3.6)? I have a set applied already to a range of cells, but there is no obvious way of changing which cells a given set of conditional formatting is applied to. I either have to copy and paste the formatting, which results in multiple entries in the conditional formatting (which makes it difficult to manage), or delete the entire thing and create a new one every single time I want to change the range of cells.   • Can I disable chrome's auto translate function for visitors to a given page on my site?

    I know how to disable this feature for pages that I visit, but what I'm looking for is a way to tell other user's Chrome browsers not to offer translation a particular page on my site. Is there some kind of meta tag I can use? Alternatively, can I indicate that a particular element on the page should not be translated? Reason: The controls which slide down from the top of the page cause my page to resize, which changes the content, which makes the control slide up, which resizes the page, which changes the content, which causes the controls to slide back in. Rinse and repeat. The page dances. The page itself is a map, and the content it wants to translate are all proper names and shouldn't be translated anyway. If alternate names exist in other languages, I provide them myself. Generally I'm against taking away features from the browser that users might like, but in this case it really makes sense. So please don't answer saying that I shouldn't be doing this. I've weighed up the options.

    I'm trying to setup nfs server on Fedora 17 and I'm getting "Program not Registered" error when I'm trying to mount. I guess the main reason for this is rpcbind. I'm a newbie in linux, so I don't know what info should I provide you with.     I'm trying to configure Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 remote debugging and ran into issue: while connecting to remote computer running MSVSMON, client computer sends SYN request for connection. It makes it under the System process (as I see it in TCPView). As every network apps should be configured to use proxy in our network, I'm trying to add devenv.exe to proxification rules to make its traffic goes thru LAN's proxy server. It doesn't help. So my question is how can I make that low-level-system traffic will go through local area network proxy server?

  • Exchanged HDD in MacBook Pro - OSX installation disk shows prohibitory sign

    I exchanged the HDD in my 2007 MacBook Pro and removed the dvd-drive because it was making terrible noise everytime I booted the MacBook. The new HDD is a Corsair Force F120 SATA SSD. Everytime I try to launch an OSX Lion installation disk or USB stick I get the grey prohibitory sign and the machine shuts down after a while. Since I didn't format the SSD beforehand there is still Windows 7 on it. It shows the white progress bar with the message "Windows is loading files" but never finishes it. I don't want Windows on that machine, just thought this fact may be important. Any ideas what is wrong?

    Why did my old windows 7 install boot faster/run smoother & cooler than each the three linux distros I have recently tried (ubuntu 12.04 unity, linux mint 13 MATE, and fedora 17 on gnome 3.4)?. I have tweaked my linux installs for the ssd (enabling trim, disabling swap, etc.) I'm using an Acer TravelMate with i5-2410m processor, intel hd 3000 graphics, 8 gigs of ram, and a 256 gb samsung 830 ssd.   • How to set WAN side buffers for WRT54GL running Tomato Firmware

    I've recently set up a machine running m0n0wall to try and fight buffer bloat and do some traffic shaping. It was more convenient (geographically speaking) to connect the cable modem directly to my old WRT54GL, then pass everything to the m0n0wall machine and have that do the real routing work. It took a bit of work, but it's working pretty well. I have a cable connection. I have m0n0wall set up to utilize only 90% of the specified speed of my subscription, which is fine. But I've noticed that at certain times of the day (possibly when my true bandwidth drops below that 90%), there's more latency if the connection is used heavily, and traffic shaping doesn't seem to work as well. I suspect this is caused by the buffers on the WRT54GL still being unnecessarily large. If the connection is working as expected, they won't get filled, but in times of reduced bandwidth they would. Does anyone know the command I need to execute, on the WRT54GL running Tomato Firmware, to reduce the buffers on the WAN interface to the minimum size possible?

  • Data recovery on a data HDD (no OS)

    I am helping a family member with a dead hard disk. It is a seagate 200Gb 3.5" HDD in one of those old-school external enclosures. The problem was that windows failed to detect the hard disk when plugged in through USB. I removed the hard disk from its enclosure, and plugged it into my desktop PC. The BIOS does detect it upon POST, but unfortunately windows 7 would refuse to boot. It will get stuck on the loading screen with the glowing windows logo. Safe mode doesn't help either. What options do I have before going for some professional data recovery? edit: Someone modified the Title to something completely different from what I was asking, i just changed it back. 1) 2 HDD drives, DiskA(Dead), DiskB(my OS disk) 2) when B is connected to my system, everything works fine 3) when A AND B is connected, failure to boot. POSTs fine, but windows wont load 4) A has NO OS, its PURE data. It came from an EXTERNAL HDD enclosure which doesnt belong to me, and im trying to do data recovery.

    My scanner came with the following software: ScanSoft PageViewer ScanSoft PaperPort ScanDirect I believe it also comes with a basic version of OmniPage I'm not sure which of these programs is the one that actually performs the OCR. When I scan a document, it can perform OCR on it and convert it to a searchable PDF. Is there any way I can take an existing image or PDF file and run the same OCR engine on it in order to create a searchable PDF?

  • Windows crash report pop up 3 times when Windows XP starts after updating IE7 to IE8

    I just updated Internet Explorer 7 to IE 8. After the reboot, I have the Windows XP "send error report" dialog 3 times all with this info in it: AppName: update_kb24b8.exe AppVer: 7.0.6000.16981 ModName: urlmon.dll ModVer: 8.0.6001.18904 Offset: 0002df76 I uninstalled/updated all of my plugins and I still have this error 3 times each time I log in. Anyone know what is update_kb24b8.exe I didn't found a Microsoft KB with this number... BTW, after these 3 errors, everything s working well, including IE... Thanks!

  • Windows Recovery Console - forgot password

    I upgraded to Windows XP SP3, which immediately "broke" the laptop - it never booted with SP3 on it. I put in the Windows XP install disk I had originally used to set up the laptop, and it ran for a while, then said there's no hard disk present, so it can't continue. BIOS still sees the hard disk. I put the hard disk in an external USB case, and I can read/write to it with the other laptop. I then put the hard disk back in it's laptop, restarted with the Windows CD, and tried to get into the Recovery Console, but I forgot the password and can't "log on" to the drive. I'd also like to know if I can fix the broken files (which ones?) from the other laptop (via USB), and if I can "log on" to an external disk with the Recovery Console. (Also, the data won't fit on my other laptop, and I don't have all the install CDs for software on the disk.) Any help appreciated.

    Why has the appearence of NoScript changed? Using Noscript in FireFox (Microsoft Windows): Until now there has been an icon (the S icon) in the lower right of the screen. But now there is an button instead with the text "Options". Left clicking this button seems to bring up the menu as right clicking the old icon. Can I restore the previous state? Is there an auto-update function in NoScript and if so could it have caused the change? If it exists can the auto-update function be disabled? Platform: FireFox 3.0.6, NoScript 1.9.0.6, Windows XP 64 bit, 8 GB RAM.

    I know that I can create a simple little Qt based application that adds and read png metadata, using the QImage.setText(...) and QImage.text(...). That metadata can then be read with a linux command called pngmeta. But what other image software can I use to read out the png metadata? Please note that I'm seeking image programs for the common platforms, so please specify if your application is for Windows or Linux. To make the question clearer I attached a img with some test metadata attached to it.   • Enabling AHCI in BIOS for SSD

    I am trying to help a friend with a desktop upgrade. It is an old machine with an Intel DG31 main board. The board has 1 IDE port to which a DVD-ROM drive is connected, and 2 SATA ports. 1 SATA port had a hard drive with XP on it. I have made that the secondary drive now and wiped the OS as requested, so it is just for data. The new SSD has been installed but I read that for best results one must enable AHCI in the BIOS? So I checked and in the BIOS there is a SATA Mode setting with 2 options - Native and Legacy. I think Native means AHCI? After setting to Native, I installed Windows 7 Home Premium and all the latest drivers from Intel's website and all Windows Updates. Now when I check Device Manager I see this: Also Microsoft says HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci\Start and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\IastorV\Start should have value 0 for AHCI but I see that the value is 3 for both. So does this mean that Native mode is not AHCI? Or Windows 7 ignored BIOS setting and installed in IDE mode, maybe because both cables are present? Please help me enable AHCI on this system. Thanks!

  • How can I find out which processes on my computer are accessing the microphone?

    After reading this interesting Lifehacker post and reading the comments on the page, one person was wondering if it would be possible to use the Physical Device Object Names of other hardware such as the microphone to find out the names of processes using that device. I tried the same approach, but so far it only seems to work for the webcam. Is there any other way I could get this to work in Process Explorer? UPDATE: The Lifehacker post was about finding out which Windows process is currently using your webcam. This is how they went about doing it: Start Device Manager (WIN+R → "devmgmt.msc" → OK) Find your webcam among the list of devices (check under Imaging Devices) Open the properties window of the device and switch to the Details tab (Right click → Properties → Details) In the dropdown menu, select Physical Device Object Name and copy the string(Right click → Copy) Download Process Explorer Make sure you have opened Process Explorer in Administrator Mode(File → Show Details for All Processes) Hit CTRL+F and enter the string you copied earlier(it should be something like \Device\000000XX) Hit the Search button and you should see a list of processes using the webcam(if there are any)

  • Formatted a Bootcamped drive as a dynamic disk, now can't boot to either Mac or Windows

    I was trying to create an extra partition to get a file from the Windows side of my Macbook Air to the Mac side, and I accidentally made the disk dynamic without realizing it. I am now unable to boot to the Mac side (holding Alt to go into the system manager at startup doesn't even list the Mac partition), and the Windows side blue screens during boot (goes so quickly that it doesn't even get to the error code before restarting). What can I do to fix the issue? I don't know how to make a bootable flash drive that a Mac will recognize, and Disk Utility (via Internet Recovery) couldn't do anything.     My professor ask me to create an application and it will be run on a machine without .NET installed. My application utilizes .NET 4.0 (just basic c# necessites but without the LINQ and complicated references) and he only wants executable file. So how can we run this application on his machine without install .NET (like the setup files and stuff)???? I was thinking of virtualizing via VMware ThinApp, but I find it difficult since it requires the application to be installed, yet my professor only wants the application to be in exe format (so thinapp cannot track the changes in my system). Any alternative? suggestions?

    Let's say I have two public network addresses on my server: one NAT through an ISP (192.168.99.0/24), and a VPN through a different ISP (192.168.1.0/24), already configured with a per-host route to the VPN server through my ISP. Here is my initial routing table. I am currently routing through my ISP on subnet 192.168.99.0/24. $ route -n Kernel IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface 0.0.0.0 192.168.99.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth1 55.66.77.88 192.168.99.1 255.255.255.255 UGH 0 0 0 eth1 192.168.99.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth1 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 tap0 Now, I want new TCP connections to switch to my 192.168.1.0/24 so I type the following: $ route add -net 0.0.0.0 gw 192.168.1.1 dev tap0 When I do this, it causes some long-standing TCP connections to hang. Is there a way to I safely change the default interface for new connections, while allowing existing TCP connections to use the old route (i.e. do I need enable some sort of stateful routing table)? I am okay with a solution that only works with established TCP connections, and I don't care how hacky it is. For example, if there is a way to add temporary iptables rules for existing connections to force them over the old route. But there has to be some way to do this. EDIT: Just a note about a simple "route add -host ... " for existing connections: this solution would work if I am fine with leaving a subset of IPs on the old interface. However, in my application, this actually doesn't solve my problem because I want to allow new connections to come on the new interface even if they have the same source IP. I'm now looking at using the "ip route" command to set source-based routing rules.
