• How can Windows 7 be set to sleep at 8pm and wake at 8am every day?

  I'm trying to figure out how to get Windows 7 to sleep at 8pm and wake at 8am on a daily basis. I'm looking at Windows' services and there is a Shutdown.exe that can run, but it only seems to have a /h flag for hibernation. For waking from sleep, there is a "wake Windows from sleep to run this task" option, but it never seems to work. There is also a Sleep.exe program I can download but it comes with 13MB of other libraries from Microsoft. Is there a C# program I can write to make this work?

• Migrating to a new server

  I was asked by a client to move a website to a new server. Normally I would make a local copy by downloading it and then uploading it to the new server after making any necessary configurations of course. This particular client has like 1 million images ranging up 1MB and I still haven't found a solution as to how to move these properly. I have tried zipping them on the server first but the file gets too big and it seems to just stop. Anyway, the client told me he can set up a "portal" so I don't have to download and re-upload the files. I have never heard of this no can I find what this is. Any of you know something that fits this description or solution to my image problem? Thanks in advance

• Asus Z8NA-D6, not powering up/no signal for monitor

  I have a Asus Z8NA-D6 motherboard. Been running fine so far with one E5504 Xeon processor. I have added another Xeon E5504 CPU to the second slot and it will not power up (or there is no signal to the monitor). The status lights turn on as normal. no error led. Nothing happens other then the leds start and both cpus/fans power up. HDD power up. I tried clearing CMOS. Any sugestions? http://www.asus.com/Server_Workstation/Server_Motherboards/Z8NAD6/#download Update. Removing ram for second cpu makes it boot atleast. itboots with memory pluged in for cpu 1. (2 4gb modules) when addin one more to the second cpu it still boots but bios only see the 2 blocks at cpu 1)

• Trying to launch old game using wine

  I'm using wine 1.5.11 on Archlinux, and I try to launch this old game : http://www.cnetfrance.fr/telecharger/waterboy-11006056s.htm?download=1 The problem is that I always get a "Run-time error '13' : Type mismatch" when I try to launch it.   How can I synchronise my desktop Outlook calendar with my Google Calendar (Outlook - Google)? I saw the question Free tool for Synchronizing Google Contacts and Calendar with Outlook, but the solution that was suggested there is no longer available - Google Sync End of Life. There are tools that required a payment, like SyncMyCal, gSyncit and OggSync, but I am looking for a free / open source solution. One can download Google sync, but when trying to use it there's an error: For now, I use OggSync to synchronise, but as a freeware it allows to synchronise manually only, not automatically, so I have to remember to synchronise after every change. I checked Mozilla Sunbird, but I couldn't find any relative posts on how to synchronise Outlook - Google using it. Just to be clear: I'm not looking for software; I am looking for a solution. What can I do if sometimes software is a solution?

• Which LAN driver should I use for Asus F5Z ?

  A friend of mine asked me to re-install his Asus F5Z notebook with Windows XP. I installed successfully all drivers from Asus driver download site. Everything is working fine but the Ethernet driver. The installation of Lan Driver for Windows XP finishes with strange message "Please shutdown & plug Realtech PCI-e card to complete the installation. Not sure if it matters but OnChip SATA is in 'Native IDE' mode . The original one with Vista was 'IDE - AHCI mode'. Any idea how I can make the LAN adapter to work under Windows XP?

• Laptop wont start after BIOS update

  I have a HP Probook 4540s i recently update its BIOS from HP's site after the installation the notebook re started but since after that there is no display i waited for an hour until the battery ran off after when i plugged in its same: Capslock is contunously blinking Fan is running faster than the usual speed i can tell this from the sound And no display i waited for more than hour for any response but no gain. Searched Internet and find out that alot people fails to update their BIOS in HP laptop i dont know why official HP sites has such updates even avaialble. Is there a way i can reset the BIOS, Hard reset, through USB of something i have another PC over which i can download anything if its required? Can anyone please help.

  I am searching for a software or CMS that manages and displays large online databases, as some kind of frontend to MySQL or any other database. It should be accessible through the browser, be as secure as possible (offering login). The data I'd like to store would be personal information such as name, adress and birthday - also I'd need to be able to add custom fields as well. Also forms and the possibility to download the data in an excel? table would be great. PHPmyadmin is not an option, it should be similar to a CRM but more closely adapted to managing database tables, searching for entries and filtering data. It should be possible to have many user accounts with different rights, with each of them being able to acces certain parts of the data and entering own data. Is there something out there, that might get close to what I imagine? I appreciate any help!

  I have 18 updates appearing for Windows 7 x64 but when I try to install any of them I get the error 800706BE. The Microsoft help that appears gives several solutions: Fix It button. This downloads MicrosoftFixit50123.msi from http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9666880 (963KB). After running it displays the message "This Microsoft Fix It has been processed". System Update Readiness Tool. This is actually in response to error 800B0100 which isn't the one I'm seeing. You download the file from http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-is-the-System-Update-Readiness-Tool (362 MB). After running it says "Do you want to install the following Windows software update: Hotfix for Windows (KB947821)"

• Exclude localhost from htt_proxy

  I'm trying to access a server that is running locally on my machine (localhost). I'm using the "wget"-command to download the servers http-response. I've also tried using the "curl"-command to do this, but both (wget and curl) are trying to get through my proxy-server and failing at it: --2010-05-04 09:05:34-- http://localhost:8080/api/getplist ... Proxy request sent, awaiting response... 503 Service Unavailable 2010-05-04 09:05:35 ERROR 503: Service Unavailable. Obviously they shouldn't need to go through the proxy, right? So I disabled the http_proxy: export http_proxy="" And then it worked fine. Disabling the the http_proxy every time or permanently are no options. How can I set it to ignore the proxy settings when accessing "localhost"?

  I'm currently having my internship at a elementary school. I got the task to setup users for some classes, with that I also need run Windows Update too. So I have been scanning Google for something that does this in vb.net since I have been coding some in that before. I din't find much on the subject except for "C:\Windows\System32\wuauclt.exe /detectnow" though when I run it it don't seem to do much. So the question is it there is any command or file you can run to make Windows download and install updates? To clarify it need to work on Windows 7, I'm also writing the program in .NET 3.5.   What I'm trying to do: Connect to the internet without registering But! Here's my problem: I can't connect. I used to be able to, now when I try to connect it says "Server not found." I can connect just fine on my other Laptop. I did a test as well. I used a LAN USB adapter and could connect fine, then now I can't connect again. Possibly because I am using uTorrent to download stuff, but I want to connect again Is there anyway I can use some sort of "virtual adapter"-type of connection where it masks my actual adapter? I decided to download an ISO and try. While dd definitely put the image on the USB stick it was not bootable. So my question is what is the magic ingredient that will make this work or why has this approach persisted if it does not work?   I am using active directory in windows server 2008 R2 having IP address is 10.10.10.10 and my DSL modem Ip is 10.10.10.101. All clients are using 10.10.10.101 default gw to access the Internet. I don't know who is using Torrent in network or downloading something via IDM or something else. I just want to Monitor my clients for who are download via torrent or whatever. • Windows 7 ISO not booting from DVD drive?

  I've downloaded Windows 7 x64 Pro Upgrade from the volume license center. I've also downloaded the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool. I'll burn it using this tool and while it will show up in Explorer as if the burn worked correctly, when I try to boot to the DVD on startup, I get a "No operating system found" error (this is a newer Lenovo). My Ubuntu Live CD works fine, am I missing something? I read that there's problems if you try to burn a 64bit copy from a 32bit computer, but I'm currently running Win7x64, so that shouldn't be a problem. I've also tried burning with ImgBurn and Windows 7 built ISO burner, no success. Obviously there's a step I'm missing here, what gives?

• FTP blocked by firewall on windows 8.1 update 1 public network

  I've recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 u1. I connect to VPN to one of my projects, over which I connect to FTP server (using Total Commander 8.51a). Now, when I try to connect, Total Commander hangs on "Download" (in case of passive connection on "PASV" command). I've figured out that the problem is somehow caused by firewall, because it works if I disable firewall or I set the VPN network location to "private" (which I don't want, it is not enough trusted network for me) I tried to add total commander to firewall exception for total commander, both to inbound and outbound rule, but with no success. I have no more ideas how to configure the firewall to make FTP work properly, can you plese help me? thanks in advance.

  I like to have best io performance as well as good capaciyy and reliability out of a server that hosts a busy forum, which involves loads of static files download. I am wondering what is the best plan to format and use the disks given that the server has only 4 disk bays and I have 2 SSD and 2 SATA disks at hand. I am currently thinking about putting the disks in RAID 10 so that SSD contains /var/lib/mysql as well as most of the OS (Likely to be Debian) and SATA disk to contain /path/to/static/files. • Cannot open some websites

  Hi all, I have a very specific problem. We have a wifi router at home which supports three laptops and a desktop. For the past month or so, I've been unable to open a number of websites on our HP desktop, Dell laptop and my Macbook. These include everything connected with http://wordpress.org and several others. The page simply refuses to load. I can't access some other websites as well. I've tried everything. We've rebooted the router, deleted all the cookies/download history, but nothing works. I've tried accessing these websites on IE, Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Strangely, when friends use their laptops on the same wifi connection, the websites open just fine. What do I do? • How much visitors could handle my server ?

  I have a website, and I want to host it on my own computer, but I'm wondering if it's good enough. The website check`s if the user is logged in and then displays 15 items (title, description) from a mysql database and the rating (stored in another database) and the comments (another database) for each item. It also displays some stats (number of items, comments). I also have an image for each item. My specs are: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ 2.90 GHz RAM memory: 4.00GB Windows 7 64bit So what do you think, how much visitors and items could it handle (at once or daily) ? My internet connection is good, around 7-10 mb upload and same download speed

• Regarding the functioning of the HTTP server

  As all of us uses the HTTP protocol for accessing the web, and request at the port number 80 of the server, now suppose i want to browse or download a file then i will request to the HTTP server by specifying the complete URL. If the server is having file, it would return it if it is not having the file then what will it do? I think it will make the request to the appropriate server which would be having this file and get the file and return to us. In this way does the HTTP server acts as an intermediate between the client and the server? Please correct me if i am wrong here. Many many thanx in advance
