  • CSS: Why is my floated <span> being displayed below an <a>nchor in IE6/7 but not IE8/FF

    i'm getting this weird CSS bug in ie6/7 (but not in ie8 or firefox): for some reason, my nchor and , two inline elements, which are on the same line, are being displayed on different lines. the span is floating to the right, too! heres the HTML: <div class="sidebartextbg"><a href="journey.php" style="width:50%" title="Track past, present and future milestones during your employment">Journey</a> <span class="notificationNumber">2</span> <!-- JOURNEY COUNT: end --> </div> and here's the CSS: .sidebartextbg { background:url("../images/sidebartextbg.gif") repeat-x scroll 0 0 transparent; border-bottom:1px solid #A3A88B; font-size:14px; line-height:18px; margin:0 auto; padding:5px 9px; width:270px; } .notificationNumber { background:url("../images/oval_edges.gif") no-repeat scroll 0 0 transparent; color:#FFFFFF; float:right; padding:0 7px; position:relative; text-align:center; width:17px; } so: why would the floated span be displayed on the line under the nchor? thanks!

  • What is the fastest (possibly unsafe) way to read a byte[]?

    I'm working on a server project in C#, and after a TCP message is received, it is parsed, and stored in a byte[] of exact size. (Not a buffer of fixed length, but a byte[] of an absolute length in which all data is stored.) Now for reading this byte[] I'll be creating some wrapper functions (also for compatibility), these are the signatures of all functions I need: public byte ReadByte(); public sbyte ReadSByte(); public short ReadShort(); public ushort ReadUShort(); public int ReadInt(); public uint ReadUInt(); public float ReadFloat(); public double ReadDouble(); public string ReadChars(int length); public string ReadString(); The string is a \0 terminated string, and is probably encoded in ASCII or UTF-8, but I cannot tell that for sure, since I'm not writing the client.     I have some images that need to change, based not only on hover, but also on active state. If you look at the page here: http://site427.mysite4now.net/tazthedog/site1/ There are some tabs with Screen Printing Quick Links, etc. The tab image is associated with the link and displays properly. The icon in tabs defaults to the gray and turns blue on mouse over, however, I also need it to be blue on the "active" state.     Hello all. I am developing application in python on Windows CE which needs connection to the internet (via GPRS/EDGE). When I turn on the device, the internet connection is not active. It becomes active if I open internet explorer. I would like to activate connection in my application. I'm trying to do this with RasDial function over ctypes library, but I can't get it to work. Is this the right way or I should do something else? Below is my current code. The ResDial function keeps returning error 87 – Invalid parameter. I don't know anymore what is wrong with it. I would really appreciate any kind of help.     I'm new to jQuery and trying to combine the use of a tooltip plugin and a lightbox plugin. More specifically, I am using Colorbox (http://colorpowered.com/colorbox/) and vtip. Can anyone explain to me why this is and possibly offer some solutions to fix this problem?

    Hi guys, I just installed xampp and I brought one of my live sites into it to be able to start working from localhost. So to view my site, I navigate to localhost/example.com I noticed some issues with images when on my html, I had for example: <img src="/new_pictures/05.jpg" alt="Central Market"/> Image wouldn't show up, but then I removed the / and this works: <img src="new_pictures/05.jpg" alt="Central Market"/> I seem to have a similar problem with the CSS background image, but I can't get it to work-if I remove the / there, the image doesn't show up on the live site. How do I make the background image show up on localhost?     Hi there I'm facing a rather strange Issue when trying to load data from an XML-Webservice. The webservice allows me to pass separated identifiers within the URL-Request. It is therefore possible for the URL to become rather long (240 characters). If I open said URL in firefox the response arrives as planned, if I execute the following code xmlData remains empty.     I've got a very simple project in FlashBuilder 4.5. It's a mobile application of type ViewNavigatorApplication with a single view, MapView. In the MapView.mxml file, I've got a Flex component of type Map declared in xml. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <s:View xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" name="CatBusMapView"> <fx:Script> <![CDATA[ import com.esri.ags.Map; .... ]]> </fx:Script> <fx:Declarations> .... </fx:Declarations> <esri:Map id="cbm"> ... </esri:Map> </s:View> In this same project, I've an actionscript class called UserGeolocation. In this class, I'm attempting to get a reference to this map component. So far, I can get a reference to the top-level application, its ViewNavigator and the NavigationStack of said ViewNavigator. However, I cannot find a way to access the MapView, much less the map I've declared within it. I'm aware of methods like firstView() and activeView(), but I want an absolute solution, one that retrieves the view regardless of whether or not it's first or active. I've tried navigator.getChildByName("MapView") with no luck.

It is running insdide a Google Gadgets var params = {}; params[gadgets.io.RequestParameters.CONTENT_TYPE] = gadgets.io.ContentType.JSON; var url = "http://invplatformtest.appspot.com/getrecent/"; gadgets.io.makeRequest(url, response, params); The response function is: function response(obj) { var r = obj.data; alert(r['name']); } while on the server end, the python code sending the JSON is: class GetRecent(webapp.RequestHandler): def get(self): self.response.out.write({'name':'geocities'}) #i know this is where the problem is so how do i encode json in GAE? which is just supposed to send back a Json encoded string but when i run this, the javascript throws the following error: r is null alert(r['name']); If i were recieving just TEXT contents and my server send TEXT everything works fine. I only get this problem when am trying to send JSON. Where exactly is the problem? Am i encoding the JSON the wrong way on AppEngine? I tried using the JSON library but it looks as if this is not supported. Where is the problem exactly? :(

I'm applying the border to the content but that border also appears in div of navigation. I hope it is clear now.

    I used to use SimpleBaseGameActivity for my app and everything was ok, but now I want to add some ads into the app, so I tried to use LayoutGameActivity. But I get the screen completely black and I don't know why.   • Netbeans, JPA Entity Beans in seperate projects. Unknown entity bean class

    I am working in Netbeans and have my entity beans and web services in separate projects. I include the entity beans in the web services project however the ApplicaitonConfig.java file keeps getting over written and removing the entries I make for the entity beans in the associated jar file. My question is: is it required to have both the EntityBeans and the WebServices share the same project/jar file? Unfortunately the problem still persists. I have opened the WAR file and validated that the EntityBean.jar file is the latest version and is located in the WEB-INF/lib directory of the War file. I think it is tied to the fact that the entities are not being "registered" with the entity manager. However i do not know why they are not being registered.
