Magento - Add a button to system.xml with method attached to it

Hi, I have created a module that has an "export like" method running regularly as defined in my module's cron area of the config.xml file. But I'd like to give the user the ability to run this export method on demand by adding a "Run now" button in the system configuration, thus using the system.xml file. It seems that the "frontend type" button may be working as I've tried and it adds a tiny clickable button in the config section. But I am not able to attach a method nor a label on the button itself. I thought about adding a button in the "Grid.php" file of the module but this not what I'd like to do as it does fit with my acl. Below is my system.xml file with the "button" frontend type. I have a WCF REST Starter Kit service. The type handled by the service is a subclass of a base class. For POST requests, the base class members are not correctly populated. Hi guys I am generating a XML-RSS type file from PHP. The output for example is like this <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?> <rss version="2.0"> <channel> <title>Mi web mola</title> <link>http://www.dominio.com/blog.php</link> <language>es-ES</language> <description>Mallas y eso</description> <generator>Autor</generator> <item> <title>Articulo de prueba</title> <link>http://www.midominio.com/2342</link> <pubDate>14/06/2010</pubDate> <description><![CDATA[Descripcion de prueba bla bla bla]]></description> <content:encoded><![CDATA[Contenido prueba]]></content:encoded> </item> </channel> </rss> ... and all I can see in the Firefox preview is the title and the description of the blog, not the items, but in the source it appears correctly, so I've thought it must be a parse error or something like that.. I'm wondering if there is a robust and graceful way using linq2xml to query an item deep within an xml hierarchy. For example: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <data> <core id="01234"> <field1>some data</field1> <field2>more data</field2> <metadata> <response> <status code="0">Success</status> <content> <job>f1b5c3f8-e6b1-4ae4-905a-a7c5de3f13c6</job> <id>id of the content</id> </content> </response> </metadata> </core> </data> With this xml how do I query the value of without using something like this: var doc = XElement.Load("file.xml"); string id = (string)doc.Element("core") .Element("metadata") .Element("response") .Element("content") .Element("id"); I don't like the above approach because it is error prone (throws exception if any tag is missing in the hierarchy) and honestly ugly. Is there a more robust and graceful approach, perhaps using the sql-like syntax of linq?

Hi everyone, I'm stuck with a stupid problem of encoding. My problem is that all my accentuated characters are displayed as weird iso characters. My C# UploadFile method successfully uploads a file, but then my UI hangs...

UIAlertView Will not show

I have a program that is requesting a JSON string. I have created a class that contains the connect method below. When the root view is coming up, it does a request to this class and method to load up some data for the root view. When I test the error code (by changing the URL host to 127.0.0.1), I expect the Alert to show. Behavior is that the root view just goes black, and the app aborts with no alert. No errors in debug mode on the console, either. Any thoughts as to this behavior? I've been looking around for hints to this for hours to no avail. Thanks in advance for your help. Type 'get-config_output_type__' is element only, but its base type is not. If I put both elements mixed="true" I get another error: cos-nonambig: WC[##any] and "urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:netconf:base:1.0":data (or elements from their substitution group) violate "Unique Particle Attribution". During validation against this schema, ambiguity would be created for those two particles. I using the Eclipse to validate my schema, so what can I do?

Reading the .vcproj file with C#

We create the vcproj file with the makefileproj keyword so we can use our own build in VS. My question is, using C#, how do you read the "C++" from the following vcproj file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?> <VisualStudioProject ProjectType="Visual C++" Version="8.00" Name="TestCSProj" ProjectGUID="{840501C9-6AFE-8CD6-1146-84208624C0B0}" RootNamespace="TestCSProj" Keyword="MakeFileProj" > <Platforms> <Platform Name="x64" /> <Platform Name="C++" ===> I need to read "C++" /> </Platforms> I used XmlNode and got upto the second Platform: String path = "C:\\blah\\TestCSProj\\TestCSProj\\TestCSProj.vcproj"; FileStream fs = new FileStream(path, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read, FileShare.ReadWrite); XmlDocument xmldoc = new XmlDocument(); xmldoc.Load(fs); XmlNodeList oldFiles = xmldoc.GetElementsByTagName("Platform"); XmlAttribute name = oldFiles[1].Attributes[0]; Console.WriteLine(name.Name); This will print Name, but I need "C++". Turning a series of raw images into movie frames in Android

I've got an Android project I'm working on that, ultimately, will require me to create a movie file out of a series of still images taken with a phone's camera. That is to say, I want to be able to take raw image frames and string them together, one by one, into a movie. Audio is not a concern at this stage. Looking over the Android API, it looks like there are calls in it to create movie files, but it seems those are entirely geared around making a live recording from the camera on an immediate basis. While nice, I can't use that for my purposes, as I need to put annotations and other post-production things on the images as they come in before they get fed into a movie (plus, the images come way too slowly to do a live recording). Worse, looking over the Android source, it looks like a non-trivial task to rewire that to do what I want it to do (at least without touching the NDK). Is there any way I can use the API to do something like this? Or alternatively, what would be the best way to go about this, if it's even feasible on cell phone hardware (which seems to keep getting more and more powerful, strangely...)?
