  • jQuery - How to Use slideDown (or show) function on a table row?

    I'm trying to add a row to a table and have that row slide into view, however the slidedown function seems to be adding a display:block style to the table row which messes up the layout.   • unwanted space before and after nested html table using Internet Explorer 8

    I have an html table nested in an html table cell. I want the nested table to use the full size of the cell it is nested in. When I use firefox or google chrome I get the result I want but when I use Internet Explorer 8 (even if I use td style="height="100%") the height of the nested cell depends on it's content. As a result I get whitespace before and after my nested table.

  • Sprite background image lags on mouse hover

    I have basic DOM menu that has sprite background images for the first level of "LI"s. It works just fine, but I guess there is some problem and instead of switching the image right away on hover it goes blank and after about a second the hover image "appears" (shifts). That happens only on first hovering. After that it's smooth like it's supposed to be. Refresh the page and there it is again... Frustrating... Here is a link to check it out: http://goo.gl/6FAM The problem exist on Firefox v3.6.3. Chrome 5.0.375 and IE 8.0.7600 don't have this issue. Any ideas?

    I'm fairly new to jQuery and I really can't get my head around this one. I'm trying to select <a href="contact"><div id="res">Reserveren</div></a>.     i am having a slight problem with the alignment of the footer div. i have a header at the top. div = maincontent { two divs for content, side by side. another 2 divs side by side below the content div. } //just to represent. i know this is not html ;) now i want the footer div to start after the maincontent div finishes. i can do that if i specify a fixed height for the maincontent div. but i dont want to specify a height for it. if i dont specify the height, the footer div starts at the middle of the page. what am i doing wrong?

  • hidden style affecting links in table?

    In a table of mine I have the table header, th which have two separate links in each cell. Each of them wrap to a new line which I don't want. If I remove all the style sheets it doesn't fix it. If i disable style sheets in the browser it fixes it but there are no inline styles that would cause the wrapping. If they are non-hyperlinked words they don't wrap. If i use the td tag it doesn't fix it either. There is too much code all over the shop to post but all I want is in a th cell a word with an image next to it with a different hyperlink. Hope that makes sense

  • Alternative to position: relative; for overflow: auto; bug in IE7.

    I have content arranged thusly: <div id="thumbnails" style="width: 40px; overflow: auto;"> <div style="float:left; width: 20px;">content</div> <div style="float:left; width: 20px;">content</div> <div style="float:left; width: 20px;">content</div> <div style="float:left; width: 20px;">content</div> <div style="float:left; width: 20px;">content</div> <div style="float:left; width: 20px;">content</div> In IE7 this shows up with the content running out of the scrollable box. The answer everywhere is to make #thumbnails position:relative. My problem is that the items in #thumbnails are scriptaculous draggables that drag outside of thumbnails with a ghost of the element that is positioned absolutely. This does not go over well if the parent is positioned:relatively because now the absolute positions are relative to #thumbnails and not the <body>. Does anyone know an alternative solution to the IE7 bug?

    Is it possible to detect the computed font-size of a DOM element, taking into consideration generic settings made elsewhere (In the body tag for example), inherited values, and so on? A framework-independent approach would be nice, as I'm working on a script that should work standalone, but that is not a requirement of course. Background: I'm trying to tweak CKEditor's font selector plugin (source here) so that it always shows the font size of the current cursor position (as opposed to only when within a span that has an explicit font-size set, which is the current behaviour).

  • Rendering inconsistencies in Internet Explorer

    Hello, I have some weird problem in rendering some xhtml in IE 8 http://img709.imageshack.us/i/scrj.png/. Here is the screenshot. As shown the greet me submit button is higher than the text field. Which is kind of odd. I checked with some other browsers and it works fine, it also works fine on Windows 7 with IE 8.   • Span with white-space style in IE (7) applied _past_ end of span

    We've got an application where users can enter "notes" into a rich edit control (Telerik's RedEditor, but that doesn't matter here). We had a user enter notes from w/in Safari that had a <span></span> in the middle of the note, and that span had a style on it specifying white-space:pre The HTML of the note was in the form of: <div> This is a note <span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span> and here's more of the note. </div> Simple enough, the style should apply to the span, and the span had 4 spaces in it. There should have been 4 spaces in the resulting output. Here's the problem. IE seems to apply that white-space: pre; style not only to the span, but to the enclosing div! Therefore, this long line that should have wrapped since it's not in the span, now pushed the document out until the line fits on the page. What am I missing. I know IE has problems, but this doesn't seem right, even for IE. So, the question(s): 1) Am I correct that the white-space attribute should only have applied to the span? 2) Can this be resolved somehow? Remember, I'm not in control of the content being entered. And it's entered from a mac w/Safari and being viewed in IE. (if so how) .bold { font-weight: bold;} .color1 {color: white;} .boldColor {.bold; .color1;} where .boldColor is effectively .boldColor {font-weight:bold; color:white;} I want this so that I can have styles thoughout the page and be able to easily change the colors in many places in 1 place.
