• Trying to configure HWIC-3G-HSPA

  I'm trying to configure a couple of Cisco 1941 routes. The are both identical routers. Each as a HWIC-1T (Smart Serial interface) and a HWIC-3G-HSPA 3G interface. These routers are to be sent to remote sites. We have connectivity to one of the sites but if remote site A gors down we lose connectivity to remote site B. The HWIC-1T is the primary WAN interface using frame relay joining the two remote sites We want the HWIC-3G-HSPA to be usable for direct connectivity from head office to remote site B, and also the HWIC-3G-HSPA is do be used for comms between the remote sites when the frame relay is down (happens quite a bit). I initialy tried to do dynamic routing using EIGRP however in my lab setup of laptop - 1941 - 1941 - laptop, I was unable to get end to end connectivity. I later settled on static routing and have got end to end connectivity but only over frame relay, not the HWIC-3G-HSPA. I've tried using kron to ping the local HWIC-3G-HSPA interface (cellular 0/1/0) every minute but that hasn't been successful. Manually pinging the IP assigned (by the telco) to ce0/1/0 does bring the interface up. Any ideas? Thanks

If every applcation needs to be run with the '-Djava.security.manager -Djava.security.policy=...' flags, what is enforcing security? Is it up to the end user to know when any Java application is being run, and modify the executable/script/whatever to include those flags? Or, how does a developer enforce that an application is run with the security manager enabled? The whole concept doesnt seem very functional to me - as it is by default not enabled... Am I missing something?

  I have created a standalone executable JAR program that needs to send private information over a SSL connection. I was not able to establish the SSL connection using certificates. Was getting this: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path `building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target` So I found some code somewhere that creates a trust manager that does not validate certificate chains: // Create a trust manager that does not validate certificate chains TrustManager[] trustAllCerts = new TrustManager[]{ new X509TrustManager() { public java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] getAcceptedIssuers() { return null; } public void checkClientTrusted( java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] certs, String authType) { } public void checkServerTrusted( java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] certs, String authType) { } } }; That did the trick and I was able to establish SSL connection without any certificates. My concern is if the data will still be encrypted when exchanging private information. This is an execute JAR file that clients will be downloading to their computers.   I have just installed the Xubuntu. My box runs quite slower than before when installed with a Win7. I am wondering if I am missing some device drivers. I can use gnome-device-manager to list my devices. In the device list view, I saw several blue question mark on the left side of devices. Based on my windows experience, the question mark should indicate the device is not properly configured. Is it the same with gnome-device-manager? • Is there a scheduling algorithm that optimizes for "maker's schedules"?

  You may be familiar with Paul Graham's essay, "Maker's Schedule, Manager's Schedule". The crux of the essay is that for creative and technical professionals, meetings are anathema to productivity, because they tend to lead to "schedule fragmentation", breaking up free time into chunks that are too small to acquire the focus needed to solve difficult problems. In my firm we've seen significant benefits by minimizing the amount of disruption caused, but the brute-force algorithm we use to decide schedules is not sophisticated enough to handle scheduling large groups of people well. (*) What I'm looking for is if there's are any well-known algorithms which minimize this productivity disruption, among a group of N makers and managers. In our model, There are N people. Each person pi is either a maker (Mk) or a manager (Mg). Each person has a schedule si. Everyone's schedule is H hours long. A schedule consists of a series of non-overlapping intervals si = [h1, ..., hj]. An interval is either free or busy. Two adjacent free intervals are equivalent to a single free interval that spans both. A maker's productivity is maximized when the number of free intervals is minimized. A manager's productivity is maximized when the total length of free intervals is maximized. Notice that if there are no meetings, both the makers and the managers experience optimum productivity. If meetings must be scheduled, then makers prefer that meetings happen back-to-back, while managers don't care where the meeting goes. Note that because all disruptions are treated as equally harmful to makers, there's no difference between a meeting that lasts 1 second and a meeting that lasts 3 hours if it segments the available free time. The problem is to decide how to schedule M different meetings involving arbitrary numbers of the N people, where each person in a given meeting must place a busy interval into their schedule such that it doesn't overlap with any other busy interval. For each meeting Mt the start time for the busy interval must be the same for all parties. Does an algorithm exist to solve this problem or one similar to it? My first thought was that this looks really similar to defragmentation (minimize number of distinct chunks), and there are a lot of algorithms about that. But defragmentation doesn't have much to do with scheduling. Thoughts? (*) Practically speaking this is not really a problem, because it's rare that we have meetings with more than ~5 people at once, so the space of possibilities is small.

  Hi I have a manager for "Dialog" looking like this: class AnnotationManager(models.Manager): def get_query_set(self): return super(AnnotationManager, self).get_query_set().annotate( num_votes=Count('vote', distinct=True), num_comments=Count('comment', distinct=True), num_commentators = Count('comment__user', distinct=True), ) Votes and Comments has a ForeignKey to Dialog. Comments has a ForeignKey to User. When I do this: dialogs_queryset = Dialog.public.filter(organization=organization) dialogs_popularity = dialogs_queryset.exclude(num_comments=0) | dialogs_queryset.exclude(num_votes=0) ...dialogs_popularity will never returned the combination, but only the dialogs with more than 0 comments, or if I change the order of the OR, the dialogs with more than 0 votes! To me, the expected behavior would be to get the dialogs with more than 0 votes AND the dialogs with more than 0 comments. What am I missing? Or is there a bug in the annotation behavior here?

• Why implement DB connection pointer object as a reference counting pointer? (C++)

  At our company one of the core C++ classes (Database connection pointer) is implemented as a reference counting pointer. To be clear, the objects are NOT DB connections themselves, but pointers to a DB connection object. The library is very old, and nobody who designed is around anymore. So far, nether I, nor any C++ experts in the company that I asked have come up with a good reason for why this particular design was chosen. Any ideas? It is introducing some problems (partially due to awful reference pointer implementation used), and I'm trying to understand if this design actually has some deep underlying reasons? The usage pattern these days seems to be that the DB connection pointer object is returned by a DB connection manager class, and it's somewhat unclear whether DB connection pointers were designed to be able to be used independently of DB connection manager.

• Intermittent "Specified cast is invalid" with StructureMap injected data context

  I am intermittently getting an System.InvalidCastException: Specified cast is not valid. error in my repository layer when performing an abstracted SELECT query mapped with LINQ. The error can't be caused by a mismatched database schema since it works intermittently and it's on my local dev machine. Could it be because StructureMap is caching the data context between page requests? If so, how do I tell StructureMap v2.6.1 to inject a new data context argument into my repository for each request? Update: I found this question which correlates my hunch that something was being re-used. Looks like I need to call Dispose on my injected data context. Not sure how I'm going to do this to all my repositories without copypasting a lot of code. Edit: These errors are popping up all over the place whenever I refresh my local machine too quickly. Doesn't look like it's happening on my remote deployment box, but I can't be sure. I changed all my repositories' StructureMap life cycles to HttpContextScoped() and the error persists. • Computer sending data while turned of

  I have a some what strange problem (which could have and easy and obvious solution for all I know). My problem is that when I've booted ubuntu (now 10.4 but same problem with 9.10) and turns it off it starts sending a HUGE amount of data via the ethernet cable, so much in fact that my router can't handle it and stops responding. As far as I can tell the computer is completely turned off with no fans spinning. I can add that if I boot windows I do not have this problem, just when exiting ubuntu. There are two "fixes" for my problem: Pull the ethernet cable until the next boot Turn off power to the PSU and wait for the capacitors to unload Is there anyone who knows what could be going on? I'd be happy to post some logs or conf-files. Currently I'm using the ethernet port on my motherboard which is a Asus P6T Deluxe V2 with an updated version of the BIOS (maybe not the latest but since it only happens when I've been in ubuntu I don't wanna mess with the BIOS too much). • Django User "per project" group assignation

  Hi, Here's my problem : my site has users, which can create projects, and access other user's projects. Each project can assign different rights to users. So, i could have Project A : user "John" is in group "manager" , and Project "B" user "John" is in group "worker". How could I use the Django User authentication model to do that ? From a SQL point a view, what i would like is to be able to add "project_id" in the primary key for the "auth_user_groups" table. I don't think profile is of any help here. Any advice ? UPDATE : "worker" and "manager" are just two examples of the permission group (or "roles") that my application defines. There will be more in the future. Eg : i will probably also have "admin", "reporting", etc...

• Will the other directories on my C drive still be visible?

  My Windows 7 ate itself, corrupted a few files, now refuses to boot. On the same drive were other directories of various assorted non-Microsoft applications I like to use. After the crash, I have been mounting those from outside (as F:[whatever]). If I go ahead and reinstall Windows 7 on that drive and use the drive again as my primary, will those other directories be visible to it from inside? Meaning if I boot up my new installation of Windows from within that drive, will I be able to see those other old directories via Windows Explorer on the C drive (where any haven't been run over by the reinstalled OS)?   Hi, I am using a asp.net login control with one of my asp.net application to authenticate users. I also have roles defined as well. Some of the directories are setup so only users with ROLE "MANAGER" are able to access pages under those directories. If the user does not have "MANAGER" role, he will simply be redirect back to the login page. so my question is that for the out of box login control, is there a way to show the proper login fail error message? for user trying to login but does not have a proper ROLE assigned to them, instead of a generic error message saying "login failed" thanks.

• Linker Issues with boost::thread under linux using Eclipse and CMake

  I'm in the process of attempting to port some code across from PC to Ubuntu, and am having some issues due to limited experience developing under linux. We use CMake to generate all our build stuff. Under windows I'm making VS2010 projects, and under Linux I'm making Eclipse projects. I've managed to get my OpenCV stuff ported across successfully, but am having major headaches trying to port my threaded boost apps. Just so we're clear, the steps I have followed so-far on a clean Ubuntu 12 installation. (I've done 2 clean re-installs to try and fix potential library cock-ups, now I'm just giving up and asking): Install Eclipse and Eclipse CDT using my package manager Install CMake and CMake Gui using my package manager Install libboost-all-dev using my package manager So-far that's all I've done. I can create the eclipse project using CMake with no errors, so CMake is successfully finding my boost install. When I try and build through eclipse is when I get issues; The app I'm attempting to build uses boost::asio for some UDP I/O and boost::thread to create worker threads for the asio I/O services. I am trying to link statically, but I believe eclipse should be passing the correct arguments to make that happen since my CMakeLists.txt includes SET(Boost_USE_STATIC_LIBS ON) I'm officially out of ideas here, I have tried doing local builds of boost and a bunch of other stuff with no more success. I even re-installed Ubuntu to ensure I haven't completely fracked the libs directories and links with multiple weird versions or anything else. Any help would be muchly appreciated.

• jquery fancy box

  Hi, i'm using fancy box for some content editing in my backoffice. I recently added an image manager wich i create with javascript. It's kind of like a fancybox, but i had to do it from scractch for it to be able to overlay the first one. My problem is this: I want to have the user being able to press the escape key to close my manager, but if i use $(window).keypress when i press the esc key, both the boxes close. I have tried $(window).unbind('keypress') when i start loading my box, and i have tried to look through the fancybox js file, but it is minimized. Does anyone know how i can disable and afterwards enable the escape key (during runtime) on the fancybox? Thanx

When I will search on site for some text let say: "Manager of xyz company" definetly i Will get some data from sql content database relevant to searched query , right ? Ok I want to give "Save" Button after I found the Contact details of that manager.So is this possible to save this contact to the outlook's contact list? As I am new in sharepoint ,as per my requirement this is the flow. SO please guide me. Is this task possible ??
