  Hi , We have developed implemented single sign on methodology to authenticate user. When a page is requested, if it is not authenticated then a login page will be redirected. Once they logged in the requested page will be shown. this is working when we don't assign a domain to the virtual directory. But when we assign the domain to virtual directory after the authentication the application is not redirecting to the requested page. We are using FormsAuthentication.GetRedirectUrl method to redirect the requested page. Why this is happening? How can we resolve this issue?

  Perl and PHP do this with backticks. For example: $output = `ls`; This code returns a directory listing into the variable $output. A similar function, system("ls"), returns the operating system return code for the given command. I'm talking about a variant that returns whatever the command prints to stdout. (There are better ways to get the list of files in a directory; the example code is an example of this concept.) How do other languages do this? Is there a canonical name for this function? (I'm going with "backtick"; though maybe I could coin "syslurp".)

• Could someone explain __declspec(naked) please?

  I'm looking into porting a script engine written for Windows to Linux; it's for Winamp's visualization platform AVS. I'm not sure if it's even possible at the moment. From what I can tell the code is taking the addresses of the C functions nseel_asm_atan and nseel_asm_atan_end and storing them inside a table that it can reference during code execution. I've looked at MS's documentation, but I'm unsure what __declspec(naked) really does. What is prolog and epilog code mentioned in the documentation? Is that related to Windows calling conventions? Is this portable? • Better to extend a class or modify it directly?

  Hi, So I'm working on creating a visualization for a data structure in Java. I already have the implementation of the data structure (Binary Search Tree) to start with, but I need to add some additional functionality to the included node class. As far as conventions and best practices are concerned, should I create a subclass of the node with this added functionality or should I just modify what I have and document it there? My question is similar to what's asked here but that's a little over my head. I know it probably doesn't matter much for what I'm doing, so I'm asking this more as a general thing.

• Resources access problem from JAR

  I have the following directory structure of a project: Folder "project" in Eclipse: --folder "src" --folder "resources" ----trayicon2.png --folder "db" ----test.db --folder "bin" I'm accessing the image with: Image image = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage("resources/trayicon2.png"); and from Eclipse that is not a problem. Then I generate an "executable jar file", and add the dirs, making a directory structure of: Folder "project" --folder "db" ----test.db --folder "resources" ----trayicon2.png --project.jar And now the image is no more accessible. Also, the database is no more accessible; while in Eclipse I used to access it with: Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:sqlite:db/test.db"); How can I access the resources (images and db) after generating the jar file "project.jar"?

  Is it possible to have Apache htaccess rewrites take effect before it hits django? For example so I can redirect iPhone users to a completely different domain without even hitting django.   Hi I have a question about debugging a running C++ program in Linux. If a programming is already running and can't be interrupted, how to do that. I can find three ways, but I don't know too much about details, I am grateful if any one can elaborate it deeper. 1) we can use GDB by specifying the process ID gdb -p PID In this case, what's the difference between this and attach PID? 2) We can use pstat, however, I am using Ubuntu, no pstat, but only mpstat it seems that mpstat does not provide too much information, and not so many options. 3) check the details information under directory ./proc In this case, just go to the directory with the PID. However, should this be done mannually?

• Is it a good idea to apply some basic macros to simplify code in a large project?

  I've been working on a foundational c++ library for some time now, and there are a variety of ideas I've had that could really simplify the code writing and managing process. One of these is the concept of introducing some macros to help simplify statements that appear very often, but are a bit more complicated than should be necessary. For example, I've come up with this basic macro to simplify the most common type of for loop: #define loop(v,n) for(unsigned long v=0; v<n; ++v) This would enable you to replace those clunky for loops you see so much of: for (int i = 0, i < max_things; i++) With something much easier to write, and even slightly more efficient: loop (i, max_things) Is it a good idea to use conventions like this? Are there any problems you might run into with different types of compilers? Would it just be too confusing for someone unfamiliar with the macro(s)?

• How do I create an empty file in emacs?

  How can I create an empty file from emacs, ideally from within a dired buffer? For example, I've just opened a Python module in dired mode, created a new directory, opened that in dired, and now need to add an empty __init__.py file in the directory. If I use C-x C-f __init__.py RET C-x C-s then emacs doesn't create the file because no changes have been made to it. I would have to type in the file, save it, delete my typing and then save it again for that to work. Thanks

  The batch file is something like this, I put the python in some directory that has SPACE character in its path. C:\"Documents and Settings"\Administrator\Desktop\bracket\python\python C:\\"Documents and Settings"\\Administrator\\Desktop\\bracket\\[10,20]\\brackettest.py When I run this one, I get this error. C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\bracket\python\python: can't ope n file 'C:\Documents and Settings\\Administrator\\Desktop\\bracket\\[10,20]\\bra ckettest.py': [Errno 2] No such file or directory C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\bracket What might be wrong? Wrapping the path doesn't solve this problem. "C:\\Documents and Settings\\Administrator\\Desktop\\bracket\\[10,20]\\brackettest.py" Are the brackets ('[]') cause of the problem? On Mac, python works well with bracket character.

• Password protected web content-- basic question

  I'm looking to create a password-protected section of my website that requires user login, and I'm wondering what approach would provide the simplest solution. For the most part, the site will be very simple and static-- i.e. no real requirement for a database/backend-- with the protected content contained in a single directory, which I've already configured on my server via htaccess. I guess I'm wondering ultimately if it's possible to use a script of some sort that will enable access to this protected directory via a form and thereby bypass the need for configuring a mySQL/PHP solution? Furthermore, this protected content is not exactly hyper-sensitive, but private nonetheless. Thanks much for any direction here.

• How can I use a pre-populated core data DB on my device.

  Hi all, I have developed my app using core data. It works fine in the simulator. When I deploy it to the device the DB is empty. It is 49k where it should be 484k. Basically it is not populated. Since I don't write to the DB when the app is running I need to provide a populated DB to the App. So I copied the populated DB from the simulator to resources and then deploy. Still no luck. the populated DB is in MyApp.app and the AppDelegate is reading from the Documents directory. How do I either get it in the documents directory or get the app delegate to look in the app? Thanks in advance, Andrew

• Adding java source (.java files) to test jar in Maven

  Hi all, I'm making use of my pom.xml and am was able to generate the jar for src/main/java (say app.jar) as well as for src/test/java (say app-test.jar). I was also able to include my java sources as part of the app.jar (i.e. have both my .class as well as my .java files in the jar). However for my app-test.jar, i'm not able to include my .java files in it. • How can I get all the .pdb files in the same folder?

  I have a solution in Visual Studio 2008, it has dozens of projects. I would like to have all the pdb in the same folder. From the property page of a project I see that the pdb will go to the "Intermediate Directory"; also .obj files go to the "Intermediate Directory". Each of our projects has its own folder because we want to keep the .obj separated, at the same time I would like to have all the pdb in the same folder. Looking at the buildlog.htm I see the option /PDB which controls the pdb path, this option doesn't seem to me available in the property page. Maybe I will have to use a post buil script?

  I have created several .class files. All of them are located in one directory. I used a text editor to write these class files. Now I want to switch to Eclipse. In Eclipse I click File-New-Java Project. Then I select "Create project from existing source". After that I select the directory where all my .class files and click OK. As a result, nothing visible happens. But when I try to do the same, Eclipse tells me that that this project already exist. Where does it exist and how can I access it? By the way, in my "workspace" file nothing new appeared. Is it OK? I though my new Java Project will be there.

  Hello GNU Emacs 23.1.1 I am wondering is there a way to display the path of the file in the status bar, instead of just the filename. I have to open many files in many directories, and sometimes I forget what directory they are in. Just easier to display the some of the path in the status bar if that is possible. • DOS Batch file - Copy file based on filename elements

  I need to sort alot of files based on their filename. I would like to use a batch file to do it. I do know what I want but I am not sure of the correct syntax. Example of filenames I work with: (They are all in the same directory originally) 2012_W34_Sales_Store001.pdf 2012_W34_Sales_Store002.pdf 2012_W34_Sales_Store003.pdf 2012_November_Sales_Store001.pdf 2012_November_Sales_Store002.pdf 2012_November_Sales_Store003.pdf I would like to extract the information that are located between the "_" signs and put them into a different variable each time. The lenght of the informations contained between the _ signs will be different everytime. Example: var1="2012" var2="W34" (or November) var3="Sales" var4="001" If I am able to do this, I could then copy the files to the appropriate directory using move %var1%_%var2%_%var3%_%var4%.pdf z:\%var3%\%var4%\%var1%\%var2% It would need to loop because I have Store001 to Store050. Also, there are not only Sales report, many others are available. I hope I am clear. Please help me realize this batchfile!

• Loading LLVM passes on Cygwin

  I am trying to write an LLVM pass on Windows using Cygwin. When I make the project, a dll gets created in the Release/bin directory instead of a .so file in the Release/lib directory. The latter is what is shown in the LLVM document. When I try to load this dll using the -load flag, nothing happens. $opt -load ../../../Release/bin/Pass.dll -help The pass that I am trying to load isn't printed after this. How do I get this right?

• high tweet status IDs causing failed to open stream errors?

  Erg. Starting in the past few days high tweet IDs (at least, it appears it's ID related, but I suppose it could be some recent change in the api returns) are breaking my code. At first I tried passing the ID as a string instead of an integer to this function, and I thought this worked, but in reality it was just the process of uploading the file from my end. In short, a php script generates these function calls, and when it does so, they fail. If I download the php file the call is generated into, delete the server copy and re-upload the exact same file without changing it, it works fine. Does anyone know what could be causing this behavior? Below is what I suspect to be the most important part of the individual files that are pulling the errors.   I don't get the abstractions and the terminology :-( For example, DirectoryInfo.FullName is defined as the full path of the directory or file, but it's a string! So is DirectoryInfo.Name, FileInfo.FullName, Path.GetDirectoyName and so on. This means that in .Net there is no "depth" (or "meat" - my English isn't so good) for the file system objects. There's no protection from a type system. I can't, for example, define two Path objects and ask if one of them is "above" the other - I have to manipulate the strings. I can't differentiate between a Path that identifies a directory and a path that identifies a file. I can't do anything!-( Just manipulate strings. Is this correct (or am I simply missing something). If correct, are there any alternatives?

• PHP, PEAR, and oci8 configuration

  I'll make this quick. I installed Oracle 11g (with appropriate database, users, etc), Apache 2.4.6, and PHP 5.5.4 on a Fedora 19 system. I wanted to connect PHP to Oracle. What I really wanted to do was to download MDB2_Driver_oci8, which I thought would be easy, but before I can do such a thing, PHP needs to have that plug-in enabled, so here's what I did: Tried to install oci8 via the following: pecl install oci8 When that didn't exactly work the first few times, I figured out I, for some reason, needed "Development tools" - via yum groupinstall "Development Tools" Then I figured out later that PHP actually doesn't do oci8 - it's PHP Devel. So, I had to install that too, via yum install php-devel. And then, I finally got to install oci8. It asked for the Oracle Directory, and that was that. But it said the following: Configuration option 'php_ini' is not set to php.ini location You should add 'extensions=oci8.so' to php.ini First, I did a locate oci8.so - found it in /usr/lib64/php/modules/ Second, I added what it told me to, to the php.ini file. Third, I checked the usual php_info() test page - no mention of OCI8. Uh-oh. Fourth, running both php -i and php -m listed oci8 as one of the modules. Weird. In desperation, I went ahead and downloaded the MDB2_Driver_oci8. Maybe that will fix things. Nope. When I loaded my PHP Webpage, it returned the following: Error message: extension oci8 is not compiled into PHP As well as: MDB2 error: not found Strange. And then I decided to check the error logs: PHP Startup - unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib64/php/modules/oci8.so' - libclntsh.so.11.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0 And now I'm stuck. I tried going into the php.ini, and found that the extension_dir was commented out. I put it back in, which only seemed to break stuff. Things of note: I followed this (link) guide on how to configure PHP and install oci8. ./configure --with-oci8 doesn't work. Fedora says no such directory. As both the webpage files and the actual server reside on the same PC, I did not install the Oracle Client files. The extension_dir is commented out by default in the php.ini. This is just one of my problems in a long line of problems concerning the replication of an already existing and working, but dying, setup. It seems whenever I want to solve a problem, I have to do X first. And by doing X, I uncover another problem, which I have to solve by doing Y, which has its own problems, etc, etc. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
