• Objective C: Create arrays from first array based on value

  I have an array of strings that are comma separated such as: Steve Jobs,12,CA Fake Name,21,CA Test Name,22,CA Bill Gates,44,WA Bill Nye,21,OR I have those values in an NSScanner object so that I can loop through the values and get each comma seperated value using objectAtIndex. So, what I would like to do, is group the array items into new arrays, based on a value, in this case, State. So, from those, I need to loop through, checking which state they are in, and push those into a new array, one array per state. CA Array: Steve Jobs,12,CA Fake Name,21,CA Test Name,22,CA WA Array: Bill Gates,44,WA OR Array: Bill Nye,21,OR So in the end, I would have 3 new arrays, one for each state. Also, if there were additional states used in the first array, those should have new arrays created also. Any help would be appreciated!

• Problem in using svn and buildix

  Hi all I ran into a problem in using svn and buildix. I have a project created in svn as well as in cruise control which was working fine. Since yesterday whenever I commit changes into svn they are successfully commited but buildix is not able to pick up those changes, Normally I used to run 'svn update' whenever this problem occurs but now this is not helping for this project. When I try to run 'svn update', I get Skipped '.' and when I try to run 'svn cleanup', I get svn: '.' is not a working copy directory I took the advice of some one and deleted the folder .svn in my project but that did not help.   A query (see below) that extracts climate data from weather stations within a given radius of a city using the dates for which those weather stations actually have data. The query uses the table's only index, rather effectively: CREATE UNIQUE INDEX measurement_001_stc_idx ON climate.measurement_001 USING btree (station_id, taken, category_id); Reducing the server's configuration value for random_page_cost from 2.0 to 1.1 had a massive performance improvement for the given range (nearly an order of magnitude) because it suggested to PostgreSQL that it should use the index. While the results now return in 5 seconds (down from ~85 seconds), problematic lines remain. Bumping the query's end date by a single year causes a full table scan: sc.taken_start >= '1900-01-01'::date AND sc.taken_end <= '1997-12-31'::date AND How do I persuade PostgreSQL to use the indexes regardless of years between the two dates? • SQL Server stored procedures - update column based on variable name..?

  Hi, I have a data driven site with many stored procedures. What I want to eventually be able to do is to say something like: For Each @variable in sproc inputs UPDATE @TableName SET @variable.toString = @variable Next I would like it to be able to accept any number of arguments. It will basically loop through all of the inputs and update the column with the name of the variable with the value of the variable - for example column "Name" would be updated with the value of @Name. I would like to basically have one stored procedure for updating and one for creating. However to do this I will need to be able to convert the actual name of a variable, not the value, to a string. Question 1: Is it possible to do this in T-SQL, and if so how? Question 2: Are there any major drawbacks to using something like this (like performance or CPU usage)? I know if a value is not valid then it will only prevent the update involving that variable and any subsequent ones, but all the data is validated in the vb.net code anyway so will always be valid on submitting to the database, and I will ensure that only variables where the column exists are able to be submitted. Many thanks in advance, Regards, Richard Clarke Edit: I know about using SQL strings and the risk of SQL injection attacks - I studied this a bit in my dissertation a few weeks ago. Basically the website uses an object oriented architecture. There are many classes - for example Product - which have many "Attributes" (I created my own class called Attribute, which has properties such as DataField, Name and Value where DataField is used to get or update data, Name is displayed on the administration frontend when creating or updating a Product and the Value, which may be displayed on the customer frontend, is set by the administrator. DataField is the field I will be using in the "UPDATE Blah SET @Field = @Value". I know this is probably confusing but its really complicated to explain - I have a really good understanding of the entire system in my head but I cant put it into words easily. Basically the structure is set up such that no user will be able to change the value of DataField or Name, but they can change Value. I think if I were to use dynamic parameterised SQL strings there will therefore be no risk of SQL injection attacks. I mean basically loop through all the attributes so that it ends up like: UPDATE Products SET [Name] = '@Name', Description = '@Description', Display = @Display Then loop through all the attributes again and add the parameter values - this will have the same effect as using stored procedures, right?? I dont mind adding to the page load time since this is mainly going to affect the administration frontend, and will marginly affect the customer frontend.

  Hi, I have a created a sample web role application using cloud service. Before hosting my application in cloud, i want to test the application in dev fabric. I am sure that when we run the application from VS, it creates an environment that simulates the cloud. But if i want to give my application for testing to QA, do i still need to give my source to them and run the application from VS under dev fabric or do we any other way in running my deployed package under dev fabric. In a line my question is, How do i run my packaged azure application under dev fabric before hosting in Cloud? Can anyone having an idea, please share me some information? Thanks, Kiran

• Possible to register Selenium RC's with the Hudson Selenium Grid Hub w/o the RC's being slaves in th

  I am trying to get Hudson to run my ruby based selenium tests. I have installed the Selenium Grid plugin, but I don't want to have the RC's running as slaves in a Hudson cluster. The reason for this is I don't want to waste the next six years of my life trying to configure each of my projects in various Windows environments. Hudson currently pulls each project from Github and builds it just fine. With a regular Selenium Grid setup, I am able to edit the grid_configuration.yml file to represent the various environments I wish to tests against, then pass environment variables to the rake task that runs the test i.e. which browser/platfom to run on and the URL of the application under test -- usually a port on the hub machine running in a specific environment. In this way, the machines on which the RC's run don't need to know anything about the source code of my apps, they just need to have selenium-grid installed and have registered with the hub. Is there a way of elegantly emulating this with Hudson?

  I have been task with (ha) creating an application that will allow the users to schedule a command line app we have with a parameter. So the command line app takes an xml and "runs it" So bottom line I either need to create a windows service or learn how to interact with the Task Scheduler service already running on the box (version 1 Xp /2003) At first I though it would be easy have a service run and when a job is submitted, calculate the time between now and run and set up a timer to wait that amount of time. This is better then checking every minute if it's time to run. Were I hit a wall is I relized I do not know how to communicate with a running windows service. Except maybe create a file with details and have the service with a file watcher to load the file and modify the schedule. So the underlying questions are how can I execute this psedo code from client serviceThatIsRunning.Add(Job) Or ineracting with the task schedule or creating .job files using c# 3.5

• All office apps crash immediately on server 2008

  Hi, I have a brand new windows 2008 server (64 bit) with a brand new installation of Office 2007, fully patched with all windows updates etc. Every time I try to run any of the office apps it crashes immediately, even in safe mode. the only remotely useful information I get is: Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Data: 00000008 If I Run in compatibility mode for windows XP, everything is fine. • Squid appears to be running storeurl_rewrite_program, but not using the result.

  I've built a storeurl_rewrite_program (which strips some changing query-strings), and verified from logging in the script that it is being run and generating the desired modified url. However, access.log continues to show TCP_MISS and store.log has SWAPOUT with the unmodified url. Why would Squid run the rewriter and then throw away the result?

• Running directx samples on a Windows Mobile 6.1 device

  I tried to run the directx samples from ..\Windows Mobile 6 SDK\Samples\PocketPC\CPP\win32\directx\d3dm\tutorials on a Samsung Omnia and on the emulator and it doesn't work because of a deployment error. I am using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and have installed Windows Mobile SDK Standard and Professional refresh. The device is correctly plugged in and set up for active sync (I know this because other samples work, also a creating Win32 smart device and running it works). When I try to run the application it compiles without errors but the message: " There were deployment errors, Continue? Yes/No" appears If I manually copy the application from the debug folder to the device and run it from there, it works. The same deployment error message appears if I try it on an emulator. Other applications are deploying successfully. Is there any way to make the deployment work? Maybe there is an obscure option I need to set...

• Watin from TeamCity not running as a Windows Service

  I'm trying to run Watin from within a TeamCity build, using nUnit. All tests run fine locally. I know you cannot run the full Watin tests (i.e. POST) from TeamCity if it is running as a Windows Service. You must start the build agent from a .bat file. But, I don't want to have to login to the server for it to start. I've tried getting a Scheduled Task (in Windows Server 2008) to fire the agent.bat file on StartUp (not Login), but with no luck. Has anyone else got Watin/TeamCity running from a Scheduled Task? Thanks, Pete

  Hello, I have a system where registered users can vote up/vote down comment for a picture. Something very similar to SO's voting system. I store the votes in a table with values as such; vote_id | vote_comment_id | vote_user_id | vote_date | vote_type Now I have few a question concerned the speed and efficiency for the following; PROB: Once a user opens the picture page with comments I need, if that user has already voted UP/DOWN a comment to show it like; "you voted up" or "you voted down" next to the comment (in SO it the vote image is highlighted) MY POSSIBLE SOL: Right now when I open a picture page for each comment I loop thru, I loop thru my table of votes as well and check if a user has voted and show the status (I compare the vote_user_id with the user's session). How efficient is this? Anyone have a better approach to tackle this kind of problem?

  Hi folks, Just a simple question, for the jquery event. Are the .load(), .ready() and .unload() run in order when the DOM is loaded? And now I have to place my code inside the .onload() method and just after the initializeCode(); line, which means to be inside the .ready() block.   I just discovered bootcamp and I'm psyched that I can run Windows 7 RC on the MacBook Pro without using a virtual machine. However the virtual machines run a bit better because they support remapping the MacBook's keyboard. Currently I can't find an equivalent of the delete key (it is Fn + Delete when running Windows via Fusion or Parallels, but it doesn't work on a bootcamp install of Windows) Has anyone come up with a clever workaround?

  I'm trying to customize my sendto shortcut following instructions posted on a How-To Geek article. The problem is that any shortcut I drop into the sendto folder doesn't appear as a shortcut when I right-click-sendto. If I copy the actual application (say, Notepad) into the Sendto folder, it will appear as an option but it will not run. If I create a shortcut by copying the actual application and pasting a shortcut, it doesn't appear. Anyone run into this problem before?

  I have a couple of HP ProCurve 2910al POE+ switches at my company that we are primarily using to power our VOIP phones that run on 48V DC. However, I have one wireless access point that I need to run off of POE, but it has to be 24V DC. I'm afraid to plug it into the POE ProCurve because I'm not sure if it will zap the device. I'm wondering if there is a way to make sure to change the voltage on a specific port to 24V instead of the (seemingly) default value of 48V. Thanks! Joel
