  Hi, could someone recommend a PHP form validation library (that works independently outside of any php framework) that apart from doing all sort of basic validation (is empty, vs regex, is email, is alphanumeric and so on) can produce javascript code (ideally to work with jquery) to validate the very same form with the very same rules client-side and hence define validation rules in a single place and have a form validated both server and client side?   I am working on development of an application to process (and merge) several large java serialized objects (size of order GBs) using Hadoop framework. Hadoop stores distributes blocks of a file on different hosts. But as deserialization will require the all the blocks to be present on single host, its gonna hit the performance drastically. How can I deal this situation where different blocks have to cant be individually processed, unlike text files ?

  I want to make 10 asynchronous http requests at once and only process the results when all have completed and in a single callback function. I also do not want to block any threads using WaitAll (it is my understanding that WaitAll blocks until all are complete). I think I want to make a custom IAsyncResult which will handle multiple calls. Am I on the right track? Are there any good resources or examples out there that describe handling this?

• Clickable TextView in Android

  i'm building an Android App that has many many TextView that i want to be clickable. I've tried to assign to the single TextView the properties android:clickable="true" and android:onClick="clickHandler" and when the app fires the clickHandler(View v) i correctly get, through the v.getId(), the clicked item. What i don't like is to define, for every TextView, the properties android:clickable and android:onClick ... is there something that i can do by code to say: "all the textviews are clickable and click is handled in 'clickHandler' ?"   When I'm designing multiple views under the MVVM pattern, does each view get its own ViewModel or do they all share the same one? I understand that this is ultimately a flexible decision, but what is the best practice? My gut tells me to have a ViewModel for each view (i.e. each separate UI window). All of the blog examples of MVVM show a single view but not much beyond that.

Of course I can loop over the array and use the + operator to do that. newarr = [] arr.each {|item| newarr += item} But this is kind of ugly, is there a better way?

• Is it reasonable to use OpenGL for desktop applications?

  I've been writing a small desktop gadget-type application that displays scrolling text along the bottom of the screen (Similar to the old CNN news ticker), however the performance of GDI is just unsatisfactory (As high as 8-12% on a quad core and 20% on a single core) even after I've attempted to clean out bottlenecks. I was considering using OpenGL instead to render everything, but I don't know if that is a reasonable option to require users to have hardware acceleration for a tiny app like this. Does anybody have any input on this?

Is there a way to have a single installation of the code and run all 50 at the same time? When I have a bug to fix (or deploy new feature), I want to deploy ONE time + 1 restart and be done with it.
