• Trying to delete a directory stored on a WIndows server, mounted on a mac

  I am trying to delete a directory stored on a Windows 2008 R2 server, mounted on a Mac as network home (10.8.5). The directory was created by Safari and stores temporary internet files. I need to be able to delete this folder on logout from a Mac bash script. The Terminal on Mac shows the directory as empty: 36W-FacRm-02:History lwickham$ cd /home/lwickham/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari/History 36W-FacRm-02:History lwickham$ ls -al total 0 drwx------ 1 lwickham CGPS\Domain Users 264 Nov 8 09:24 . drwx------ 1 lwickham CGPS\Domain Users 264 Nov 8 09:28 .. However, on the Windows server it has a single 0kb file that doesn't start with a "." but yet is invisible to the Mac. • In Enterprise Architect I modified an interface, how to update the realizing classes?

  I've created an interface in a class model. This interface has two methods, A and B and method A takes an argument (a) and method B does not take an argument (yet). Additionally I've created a class that implements this interface, overriding both methods. After a discussing the model method B now should also take a parameter (b), so I modified the interface to reflect this change. However the class realizing this interface is not updated automatically. For one class it's possible to add the method by re-creating the link between the interface, specify the which method should be implemented and deleting this link again. Then the OLD method signature has to be removed as well. This is a lot of work if there is more then one class implementing the modified interface, not to mention error-prone. Does anybody know how to make an entire class model update this type of dependency?

  I am receiving the following error when trying to use the latest puppetlabs-apache module from github (https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppetlabs-apache): Error: Could not retrieve catalog from remote server: Error 400 on SERVER: Invalid parameter identifier at /etc/puppet/environments/apache_update/modules/apache/manifests/mod.pp:40 on node zordon.mydomain.com Warning: Not using cache on failed catalog Error: Could not retrieve catalog; skipping run My node config looks like: node 'zordon.mydomain.com' { include template::common include template::puppetagent include template::lamp User::Create sudo::conf { 'joe': priority = 60, content = 'joe ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL', require = User::Create['joe'], } } The template::lamp class is what uses apache module: class template::lamp { include myfirewall Firewall Firewall class { 'apache': } class { 'apache::mod::php': } class { 'apache::mod::ssl': } class { 'mysql::server': } } It looks like serverfault markup is getting garbled on Puppet realize statements. The User::Create and Firewall lines are just realizing a user and 2 firewall rules. I have verified that the /var/lib/puppet/lib/puppet/type/a2mod.rb type has the identifier parameter and it is the same MD5 as the server. I am using Puppet 3.0.1 on both agent and master. Any idea what may cause this?

• Files showing in smbclient but not smbmount

  I have a samba folder that I try and access through smbclient, and I can browse it just fine. However, mounting it through smbmount, all the folders under the share are empty. I can list the folders directly under the share fine, but they all appear empty. smbclient: # smbclient //server/share -U username -W workgroup password smbmount # sudo smbmount //server/share mntpoint -o user=username,workgroup=workgroup,password=password I have also tried with domain=workgroup instead of workgroup, both give the same result. No error messages, everything mounts fine, but all the folders under mntpoint are empty, despite the same folders being non-empty when using smbclient. Are these using different libraries? How can I debug the error? Additionally, if I try to mount //server/share/folder, doing an ls results in a segmentation fault. Using dmesg I find: kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.28/fs/cifs/cifs_dfs_ref.c:315! • Free space on SSD (over provisioning) per disk or per partition?

  It is recommended to keep some percentage of an SSD free for relocation ( Is free space required on a SSD for performance? ). However, is this rule meant per partition or per disk (whole SSD)? So, if I want to keep 20% free for performance reasons, is it acceptable if one partition is 95% filled, while another is almost empty and the overall empty disk space still is 20. Or does each partition has to fulfill the rule of 20% empty space?

• Problem Implementing StructureMap in VB.Net Conversion of SharpArchitecture

  I work in a VB.Net environment and have recently been tasked with creating an MVC enviroment to use as a base to work from. I decided to convert the latest SharpArchitecture release (Q3 2009) into VB, which on the whole has gone fine after a bit of hair pulling. I came across a problem with Castle Windsor where my custom repository interface (lives in the core/domain project) that was reference in the constructor of my test controller was not getting injected with the concrete implementation (from the data project). I hit a brick wall with this so basically decided to switch out Castle Windsor for StructureMap. I think I have implemented this ok as everything compiles and runs and my controller ran ok when referencing a custom repository interface. It appears now that I have/or cannot now setup my generic interfaces up properly (I hope this makes sense so far as I am new to all this). When I use IRepository(Of T) (wanting it to be injected with a concrete implementation of Repository(Of Type)) in the controller constructor I am getting the following runtime error: "StructureMap Exception Code: 202 No Default Instance defined for PluginFamily SharpArch.Core.PersistenceSupport.IRepository`1[[DebtRemedy.Core.Page, DebtRemedy.Core, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null]], SharpArch.Core, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b5f559ae0ac4e006" Here are my code excerpts that I am using (my project is called DebtRemedy). I'd like it to remain slideout as someone hovers the nested li's. So the slide should only happen on hover for the tier_1 elements. Also I would like, on hover to add an "active" class to the a element on the tier_1 links. So [a class="enviro"..] would, on hover, become [a class="enviro active"]. This is then removed when one of the other tier_1 items is hovered. This way the pretty color icon can stay visible while someone looks at the nested elements. Not even sure all that is possible with hover, but I figured if anyone would know a way it would be here.

  I am building an event system that posts data to a google calendar. I am using jquery 1.4.2, fullcalendar 1.4.5, and asp.net MVC 2. I am using a jquery ui modal dialog for the entry system. Jquery ui datepicker for the from and to fields. Select boxes for the time fields. I have tried both string and DateTime formats in the GCalEvent Class for startDate, startTime, endDate and endTime.   I want to know as to how to configure known types in WCF. For example, I have a Person class and an Employee class. The Employee class is a sublass of the Person class. Both class are marked with a [DataContract] attribute. I dont want to hardcode the known type of a class, like putting a [ServiceKnownType(typeof(Employee))] at the Person class so that WCF will know that Employee is a subclass of Person. The problem is that my nav bar, once collapsed, will not drop down when I click the dropdown icon. I'd like it to remain slideout as someone hovers the nested li's. So the slide should only happen on hover for the tier_1 elements. Also I would like, on hover to add an "active" class to the a element on the tier_1 links. So [a class="enviro"..] would, on hover, become [a class="enviro active"]. This is then removed when one of the other tier_1 items is hovered. This way the pretty color icon can stay visible while someone looks at the nested elements. Not even sure all that is possible with hover, but I figured if anyone would know a way it would be here.

The transaction table in my database has a not null constraint on the OrderId foreign key.   What I am trying to do is inject through XML almost the same way that is done through A @PersistenceContext annotation. I am in need of this because of the fact I have different entity managers I need to inject into the same DAO. The databases mirror one another and I would rather have 1 base class and for instances of that base class then create multiple classes just so I can use the @PersistenceContext annotation. Here is my example. • What is there so useful in the Decorator Pattern? My example doesn't work

  The book says: The decorator pattern can be used to extend (decorate) the functionality of a certain object I have a rabbit animal. And I want my rabbit to have, for example, reptile skin. Just want to decorate a common rabbit with reptile skin. I have the code. First I have abstract class Animal with everythig that is common to any animal: abstract class Animal { abstract public function setSleep($hours); abstract public function setEat($food); abstract public function getSkinType(); /* and more methods which for sure will be implemented in any concrete animal */ } I create class for my rabbit: class Rabbit extends Animal { private $rest; private $stomach; private $skinType = "hair"; public function setSleep($hours) { $this->rest = $hours; } public function setFood($food) { $this->stomach = $food; } public function getSkinType() { return $this->$skinType; } } Up to now everything is OK. Then I create abstract AnimalDecorator class which extends Animal: abstract class AnimalDecorator extends Animal { protected $animal; public function __construct(Animal $animal) { $this->animal = $animal; } } And here the problem comes. Pay attention that AnimalDecorator also gets all the abstract methods from the Animal class (in this example just two but in real can have many more). Then I create concrete ReptileSkinDecorator class which extends AnimalDecorator. It also has those the same two abstract methods from Animal: class ReptileSkinDecorator extends AnimalDecorator { public function getSkinColor() { $skin = $this->animal->getSkinType(); $skin = "reptile"; return $skin; } } And finaly I want to decorate my rabbit with reptile skin: $reptileSkinRabbit = ReptileSkinDecorator(new Rabbit()); But I can't do this because I have two abstract methods in ReptileSkinDecorator class. They are: abstract public function setSleep($hours); abstract public function setEat($food); So, instead of just re-decorating only skin I also have to re-decorate setSleep() and setEat(); methods. But I don't need to. In all the book examples there is always ONLY ONE abstract method in Animal class. And of course it works then. But here I just made very simple real life example and tried to use the Decorator pattern and it doesn't work without implementing those abstract methods in ReptileSkinDecorator class. It means that if I want to use my example I have to create a brand new rabbit and implement for it its own setSleep() and setEat() methods. OK, let it be. But then this brand new rabbit has the instance of commont Rabbit I passed to ReptileSkinDecorator: $reptileSkinRabbit = ReptileSkinDecorator(new Rabbit()); I have one common rabbit instance with its own methods in the reptileSkinRabbit instance which in its turn has its own reptileSkinRabbit methods. I have rabbit in rabbit. But I think I don't have to have such possibility. I don't understand the Decarator pattern right way. • jQuery gallery scrolling effect with ease

  So, I got this page from a friend and I think the gallery is amazingly done. Too bad it's in Flash ; http://selected.com/en/#/collection/homme/ Now, I'm trying to replicate the effect with jQuery. I've made all the loco searches on google one could think of. Zooming the picture is not a problem, the problem lies within the scrolling, how they come together at the ease part. I'm looking for solution in how to make the thumbnail animate when you scroll the page, they drag behind and infront of each other in a very subtle way - I've got (With a lot of help from Whirl3d in the jQuery-irc channel) this for the scrollup/down part of the mouse but the scrolling goes haywire; I Thought I post it here where I've come many times to get answers to a lot of questions and code-errors. • Spring @Autowired messageSource working in Controller but not in other classes?

  New updates: As I could not succeed in configuring messageSource through annotations, I attempted to configure messageSource injection through servlet-context.xml. In debug mode, I can see that in class xxxController, messageSource is initialized to org.springframework.context.support.ReloadableResourceBundleMessageSource. I have annotated Message class with @Component and xxxHibernateDaoImpl with @Repository. I also included context namespace definition in servlet-context.xml. But in Message class and xxxHibernateDaoImpl class, the messageSource is still null. • MVC Datatables Dialog Not staying where dialog opens

  I have created a view that displays a datatable with a clickable link that opens a jQuery UI dialog box. The users wanted a search options (8 dropdowns to narrow the search) at top of page, followed by the datatable with the 100 viewable records. If I scroll down the datatable to the bottom viewable record, click the link to open the dialog box. The dialog opens relative to the link clicked, but the focus go back to the top of the page which causes the user to have scroll back down to the dialog box. Ok, I thought I would just set the focus to the dialog box. BUt it is being ignored which make me think that this is something within the MVC realm. I even tried to wrap the focus inside a ready function thinking it would be one of the last things process. When I define the dailog, it is pretty basic. I even tried to set the position attribute, but it did not change the problem. Has someone had this problem and can send me in the right direction? • Resolving a Forward Declaration Issue Involving a State Machine in C++

  I've recently returned to C++ development after a hiatus, and have a question regarding implementation of the State Design Pattern. I'm using the vanilla pattern, exactly as per the GoF book. My problem is that the state machine itself is based on some hardware used as part of an embedded system - so the design is fixed and can't be changed. This results in a circular dependency between two of the states (in particular), and I'm trying to resolve this. Because of the circular dependency, I can't invoke the constructor because it's not possible to pre-define both of the constructors of the 'problem' states. I had a look at this article, and the template method which seemed to be the ideal solution - but it doesn't compile and my knowledge of templates is a rather limited... The other idea I had is to try and introduce a Helper class to the subclassed states, via multiple inheritance, to see if it's possible to specify the base class's constructor and have a reference to the state subclasse's constructor. But I think that was rather ambitious... Finally, would a direct implmentation of the Factory Method Design Pattern be the best way to resolve the entire problem?

(a) Is what I did in the Loan class to setClient correct given what I have in the Person class? (e.g.this.client = client) (b) Can I call super twice in a method? I have to set two attributes from the Loan class from the constructor in the CarLoan class and I thought that would be a way to do it. (c) Do you have to set attributes for enumeration types differently in a constructor or getter/setter methods? I get an error for (this.length = length) in my CarLoan class and I was unsure of how enumeration values should be set. Thanks!
