  • Google's Opinion on Javascript Page Refresh

    I was wondering if anyone knows Google's view on this. My company has a homepage that features a lot of 3rd parties on it and it needs to inform customers which ones are currently online, which aren't, and which are currently busy. Because this constantly changes, we have the homepage refresh to show the most relevant and up-to-date content to our users. I'm not using a meta refresh element in the http-equiv parameter to do this. Instead I have this js element to refresh the page: window.setTimeout("refreshPage()", 120000); I just want to know whether people think Google might consider this a violation of the content guidelines or not. Or if it's not an outright violation, then at least if Google frowns on this or not. It doesn't redirect the user to a different page or anything, just refreshes the page so that they can see the most relevant content.

    I get this error when trying to use wxPython's NotificationMessage class: wx.NotificationMessage("", "Hello world!").Show() AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'NotificationMessage' The code is quite simply: #!/usr/bin/python import wx app = wx.App() wx.NotificationMessage("", "Hello world!").Show() app.MainLoop() What am I missing? This is running on Linux Mint 13, MATE 1.2 desktop environment, Python 2.7.3.

    I guess this is actually a legal question, but it relates to software. I'm about to include a JS plugin in a project. The comments include: Redistributions of source code must retain the above copyright notice, this list of conditions and the following disclaimer. * Redistributions in binary form must reproduce the above copyright notice, this list of conditions and the following disclaimer in the documentation and/or other materials provided with the distribution. Is using this in my web site "redistribution?" If I minify this to conserve bandwidth, I assume it will strip all comments. If the answer to #1 is yes, doesn't that imply I'm legally not allowed to minify it? (That would stink, since I was planning to auto-minify all JS as part of the deploy process.)

    When I serialize a list of objects with a custom __get__ method, __get__ is not called and the raw (unprocessed by custom __get__) value from __set__ is used. How does Python's json module iterate over an item? Note: if I iterate over the list before serializing, the correct value returned by __get__ is used.

  • Converting Audio To Video Output and Attaching Text?

    I am currently working on a project and before i get started i thought it'd be nice to check with stackOverflow community, and see maybe they can help me with this. The Idea: I have about a thousand MP3 files that i need to convert into Video files to be upload on Youtube for my work. Here is where it gets tricky i need to also attach the Text associated with the Audio to the Video as an Image. I was thinking .ppt. The Problem: I can do this one audio file at a time but it would take me a zillion years. lol!! The Question: Can I Create Some Kind Of Program Using Let's Say XML or JavaScript Or XHTML or some other programming language to do a MASS content creation and all i have to do is feed it the Information?? possibly a script?? or is it possible to create an example .ppt file and then hack it so that i can have it reproduce itself with different information??     After I installed Visual Studio 2010 I was having a difficult time editing .js files in Visual Studio. I habitually type the "(" character as soon as the function I want to call is highlighted in the Intellisense window, but in 2010 this behavior was no longer auto-completing the function name. At first I thought this behavior was due to the new "suggestion mode" in Intellisense, but no amount of toggling with CTRL+ALT+SPACE would bring back the auto-complete behavior.
