• ASP.NET validation not executing in a JavaScript showModalDialog call

  I currently open a pop up window from my parent page using using a JavaScript .showModalDialog function. The pop up window contains some ASP.NET validation controls which do not display when the user clicks the ASP.NET button to submit the form. If there is an error on the page, the validation message(s) do not display, the record is not updated on the server side and the pop window closes. (The asp.net validation controls do not stop the pop up window from doing a server postback) Has anyone expereinced this behavior before and is there any way to prevent it? • System Tray Popup Windows 7 Style

  Hey All, I want something like this: http://cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/windows-7-wireless.jpg This window is not resizable, and aligns itself above the system tray icon which it is related to. I have this: http://i.imgur.com/79FZi.png Which is resizeable, and it goes wherever it feels like. If you click the volume control in Win 7, it always pops up directly above the icon. This is ideal. I've found this reference which I think is trying to solve the same problem (can't tell though as the images are dead), http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2169006/create-a-system-tray-styled-box-in-winforms-c but I'm using WPF and I'm not sure how to get these Form objects they refer to from my Window object. • Internet Explorer 8 64bit and Selenium Not working.

  I am trying to get selenium tests to run. Yet every time I try to run a tests that should run IE I get a error on line 863 of htmlutils.js It says that I should disable my popup blocker. The thing is I went to IE tools- turn of popup block. So it is disabled and I get this error. Is there something else I need to disable. I actually don't even know what version of Internet explorer it is running since I am using Windows 7 Pro 64bit version. So when I do use IE I use 64bit version but I am under the understanding if the site or something like that does not support 64bit it goes to 32bit. So not sure what I need to do it to make it work. • Change UIButton Background Image more than once per second

  I am currently working with the iPhone SDK. I have a NSTimer that changes the background image of a UIButton. Once this is complete, it will trigger the same action again (reset the NSTimer) for a predetermined number of times. My problem is that if my NSTimer is set to execute more than once per second. (0.75, say) The background image wont change. I am using NSLog to check that the event fires. But the button image will just remain in its original state. Is there any way to change the background image more often than once per second? This is my timer : [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval: tmpLvlSpeed target: self selector: @selector(simPressRed:) userInfo: nil repeats: NO]; And the code to change the image: [btnRed setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"btn_red.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; if tmpLvlSpeed is less than 1.0, the button image will never change. Even though the simPressRed function will still fire. Any clues? Is there an update cycle I can modify?

• WinForms and ShowDialog problem.

  I have a borderless WinForms app. The main window creates other forms (simple dialogs where I can click yes or no) with ShowDialog(). Every created dialog is not visible in the taskbar, my app has only one taskbar entry that focuses my app (and if a dialog is open that one is focused). If I use ALT+TAB to cycle to all open windows I only see one entry, too. However, If the dialog is created while my app doesn't have the focus (for example the user starts a long running task, starts to work on something else and while being in the background, my app shows a dialog "Task done...") and I want to go back to my app, things are getting strange. If I click on the taskbar to focus my app, the main window is focused (not the dialog). I can't use the main window (because there is still an open modal dialog). Windows 7 ALT-TAB preview shows the Dialog while taskbar mouseover preview shows the main window (In normal behavior both show the dialog in front of the main window). The only way to make my app usable again is to ALT-TAB to the entry and close the modal dialog. If I use ALT-TAB only the dialog is brought to the front and the main window is still in the background Is there a way to prevent that from happening? I know what to do, but most customers think the app crashed since the main window doesn't respond.

  I need to keep a NativeWindow I am creating on top of the main window of the application. Currently I am using alwaysInFront = true, which is not limited to the windows in the application. I can successfully synchronize the minimize/restore/move/resize actions, so the top window behaves appropriately in those cases. Even though using this option has the drawback that if I alt-tab to other application the window goes on top of the other application. Because of the above I am trying to get it to work without using the alwaysInFront. I have tried using orderInFrontOf and orderToFront, which gets it in place but when I click an area in the main window the top one becomes hidden i.e. air makes it the top one. I have tried capturing activate/deactivate events but it only happens on the first click, so on the second click the top window becomes hidden again. I also tried making the top window active when the main one becomes active, but that causes the main one to loose focus and I can't click on anything. Ps. • ContentControl + RenderTargetBitmap + empty image

  Im trying to create some chart images without ever displaying those charts on the screen. I'v been at this for quite a while and tried a lot of different things but nothing seems to work. The code works perfectly if I display the chart in a window first, but if I don't display it in a window, the bitmap is just white with a black border (no idea why). I have tried adding the chart to a border before rendering and giving the border a green borderBrush. In the bitmap, I see the green borderBrush then the black border and white background but no chart. I don't know where the black border is coming from as the chart is not contained in a black border. I have tried adding the chart to a window without calling window.Show() and again just the black boarder and white background. However if I call window.Show() the bitmap contains the chart. I have tried using a drawingVisual as explained here, same result.   Hi there! In my project I am using NHibernate/FluentNHibernate, and I am working with two entities, contracts and services. Id { get; set; } // other properties here public virtual Activity.Models.TTLCContract Contract { get; set; } // implementation of Equals // and GetHashCode here } Ok, so as you can see, I want my contract object to have many services, and each Service needs to have a reference to the parent Contract. I am using FluentNhibernate. So my mappings file are the following: public TTLCContractMapping() { Table("tab_tlc_contracts"); Id(x => x.Id, "tlc_contract_id"); HasMany(x => x.Services) .Inverse() .Cascade.All() .KeyColumn("tlc_contract_id") .AsSet(); } and public TTLCServiceMapping() { Table("tab_tlc_services"); Id(x => x.Id, "tlc_service_id"); References(x => x.Contract) .Not.Nullable() .Column("tlc_contract_id"); } and here comes my problem: if I retrieve the list of all contracts in the db, it works. if I retrieve the list of all services in a given contract, I get a StackOverflowException.... Do you see anything wrong with what I wrote? Have I made any mistake? Please let me know if you need any additional information. Oh yes, I missed to say... looking at the stacktrace I see the system is loading all the services and then it is loading again the contracts related to those services. • ServiceController.Stop() doesn't appear to be stopping anything

  My dev box is a Windows 7 (x64) machine. I've got some code (C#, .net 2.0) that in certain circumstances, checks to see if a service is running and then stops it. ServiceController matchedService = //My Service! //If statements and such matchedService.Stop(); matchedService.WaitForStatus(ServiceControllerStatus.Stopped); Now, I can verify MyService is in fact installed and running. I can tell you I am running Visual Studio 2008 as an administrator while debugging. I can also verify that after a couple of If statements, I wind up at the .Stop() and .WaitForStatus() portion of the programming. I do know that if step over the .Stop() call, the service itself just keeps running (looking at it in Services, though it occurs to me perhaps I should grab a better tool for this. I'm sure there's some sysinternals tool that might give me more information). As I step over the .WaitForStatus() call, I basically wind up waiting for the stopped status. . . forever. Well, I let it sit there for over 15 minutes yesterday (twice) and nothing happens. We never make it to the next line of code. It feels exactly like Bowie's Space Oddity (you know the part I am talking about). There's a lotta things about MyService you don't know anything about. Things you wouldn't understand. Things you couldn't. . . let me state this plainly. No services depend on MyService and MyService depends on no other services. Addendum MyOtherService and SonOfMyService both seem to behave correctly at this point in the code. All of these services share the same characteristics (they're our own services we hatched in a secret lab and have no dependencies). Is it possible there is something wrong with the MyService install or something? I do know that if I stop debugging at this point, MyService is still listed as running in Services (even after hitting refresh). If I try to restart it then (or run my application again and get to this point), I get a message about it not being able to accept control messages. After that, the service shows up as stopped and I can start it normally. Why isn't the service being stopped? Is this a quirk of win 7? A failing on my part to understand the ServiceController, or Win Services in general?
