  • Three displays, one video card and no eyefinity mode

    I am looking for a video card to run three monitors, it could be hdmi, dvi or vga. I want the three monitors to show an extended desktop but as three different desktops with maybe different resolutions, so when i maximize something it should be maximized only in one monitor. The information seems confusing, I think eyefinity tricks the OS to make it looks like one big display. I am sure I dont want this. So my question(s) is, is there a video card in the market that support 3 displays without eyefinity? Or can I use an eyefinity enabled card ( with one active display port) to run three monitors and disable eyefinity from the driver settings or something?

Can somebody explain why it is really warped? I thought the changes I made in the coding will just change position/rotation, rather then a change in the image.

    My dad has a notebook and the key which has the "/?°" symbols acts like ctrl. Known factory problem. Anyway, his keyboard also has a "?" marked under the "w" key. Pressing "ctrl + alt + w" will display the "?" character (question, interrogation mark). Except on Office applications, like Word and Outlook, which will output "¿". I've searched Word and Outlook menus looking for a parameter that could be, somehow, remapping the notebooks keyboards, applying different regional configurations, language, or encodings. Since it only happens on Office apps, I believe the solution is within its options, but I was unable to find it where. Pressing "ctrl + alt gr + w" will display ? correctly, but I am stumped by this problem. I could remap the keys and make "/?° behave correctly, but my curiosity now is eating me alive. I could be display the data on the DOM by PHP built-in script tag by load some data on the Controller. Otherwise I could use AJAX to pulled the data -- treat the Controller like a service only -- and display the them by Javascript.   • Suggestions for a CMS markup language for PHP

    As a learning experience, and as project, I am attempting to write a CMS module for ZF2. One of the functionality I would like to have is the possibility of adding dynamic contents in the pages by calling PHP functions in the view scripts. However, I do not want to give the users freedom in writing PHP code directly inside the page content, but rather implement custom view helpers (or widgets) to handle logic. For example: calling partial, partialLoop, url, etc. specifying arguments and all. I liked the idea of extending Markdown but this would get complicated when trying to add custom CSS class to elements, etc. Then I had the idea of simply doing a preg_replace on some patterns. For example, the string : ### partialLoop:['partials/display.phtml',[{id:'p1',price:4.99},{id:'p2',price:12.34}]] ### would be replaced by <?php echo $this->partialLoop('partials/display.phtml', array(array('id'=>'p1','price'=>4.99),array('id'=>'p2','price'=>12.34))) ?> Obviously, there would be some caching done so the page content is not rendered everytime. Does this sound good? If not, what would be a good way of doing this? Or is there a project already being developed for doing this? (I'd like to avoid heavy third party libs and something fairly or fully compatible with ZF2 would be nice.) Thanks.

    I'm using evrouter to set up mouse button binds, and init.d to start it.   • Blender DirectX exporter to Panda3D

    I have been experimenting with Panda3D lately. I have a character made in Blender with various bones and currently with one animation that I wish to export to a *.x format for Panda3D. My current attempt was to export the model was to first export with bones [Armatures] by checking the "Export Armatures" button in the export menu (file name: char.x). Thanks to the *.x file format, I read the file and it seems to have the same bone structure format as the model (with parenting and matrix positional data). The second export was selecting Animations - Full Animation to provide just the animation (file name: char_idle.x). The models exported just fine. I am not sure about the animation yet, but the file seems to be just fine. This is my code for loading the model into python & Panda3D: self.model = Actor("char.x",{"char_idle.x"}) When I run the program the command line provides a couple of errors, the main errors of interest are: :Actor(warning): char.x is not a character! and ... File "C:\Panda3D-1.8.0\direct\actor\Actor.py", line 284, in __init__ if (type(anims[anims.keys()[0]])==type({})): AttributeError: 'set' object has no attribute 'keys' The first error is the most interesting to me. The model works if I leave the animation dictionary blank. With no animations loaded the character appears in its un-animated T position, however the actor warning still shows up. The character should include the various bones when I exported the model right? I am not that experienced with blender, I'm just a programmer. So if the problem lies in blender please try to keep that in mind when posting a reply. I'll try my best to keep up.   • Can AJAX in a CMS slow down your server

    I am currently developing some plugins for WordPress, and I was wondering which route to take. Let's take an example, you want to display the last 3 tweets on your page. Option 1 You do things the normal way inside WordPress. Someone enters the website, while generating the page, you fetch the tweets in php via the twitter api, and just display them where you want. Now the small problem with this is, that you have to wait for the response from twitter. This takes a few ms. NO real problem, but this is question is just out of curiosity. Option 2 Here you don't do anything in WordPress on the initial load, but you do have the API inside. Now you just generate the page, and as soon as the page is done on the client side, you do a small AJAX call back to the server via a WordPress plugin, to fetch your latest tweets. Also called asynchronously. Now the problem with this IMO is that you have much more stress on your server. For starters you have two HTTP requests instead of one. Secondly the WordPress core has to load two times instead of one. Other options Now I know there are a lot of other options: 1) Getting the tweets directly via javascript, no stress on the server at all. 2) Cache the tweets so they are fetched from the DB instead of using the API every time. 3) Getting the tweets from an ajax call that is not a WordPress plugin. 4) Many more. My Question Now my question is if you only compare 1 and 2, which would be a better choice.

    Guys, I've got an encoding problem I believe. I have upgraded from phpBB2 to phpBB3. The old databases were in latin1, the new ones have utf8 encoding. Already during the upgrade process some rows of the DB were only read partly into the new version, because of strange characters as it turned out. When I use PHP's mb_convert_encoding() function to convert those strings to UTF8 they end up e.g. as 0x0093, i.e. they must have been some kind of double quotes. Even after doing this conversion, they still show up as 0x0093 in the browser (the squares with 0093 in them when the browser does not know what to display). Can someone explain the problem here? I'm a little confused and afraid I don't see all the dependencies that need to work to have the correct encodings and the correct display thereof...

    Edit: Since setting Appearance - Visual Effects up to a stunning "Normal", I now get ~35 FPS in glxgears right after login, with nothing else running :( I'm getting terrible graphics performance in NeverWinter Nights (native with SoU+HotU+CEP2) on my Eee PC 1005HAB. Even with all graphics settings (including the "advanced" ones) at minimum I get about 2-10 FPS, depending on the scene. Firefox is really sluggish as well - Changing tabs often takes a second, scrolling is laggy, and typing this I notice the delay between pressing keys and seeing the text on screen. The rest of the OS is running OK, although general performance seems to be even worse than my old Eee PC 900. glxgears gives about 60 FPS, which is apparently as it should be (synchronized with the monitor refresh rate). Bugs like Launchpad #252094 and the instructions for Reverting the Jaunty Xorg intel driver to 2.4 are old enough that I'm afraid following the instructions would render the system unusable.     I just started using Slick2D and learned how simple it is to load in a tilemap and display it. I tried atleast a dozen different tmx files from numerous examples to see if it was the actual file that was corrupted.   • Lubuntu Desktop messed up for logged in user, but not for guest

    I recently upgraded my laptop from Lubuntu 12.04 to 14.04.1 and the upgrade process seemed to go fine. However, when I went to login as my normal user, I encountered an issue. The background loaded up, but none of LXDE or LXPanel showed up, leaving me with an empty desktop and nothing else except two errors. I thought that this was weird, so I just figured something had been messed up and would be fixed by a reboot. But it wasn't. I then tried logging in as guest, and it's just fine. I checked the ~/.xsession-errors file (for my main user, not guest, did it via TTY1) and this is what I got: Script for ibus started at run_im. Script for auto started at run_im. Should that be root or something else, or should I try deleting that and ~/.profile.
