• Integrating Hudson with MS Test?

  Is it possible to integrate Hudson with MS Test? I am setting up a smaller CI server on my development machine with Hudson right now, just so that I can have some statistics (ie. FxCop and compiler warnings). Of course, it would also be nice if it could just run my unit tests and present their output. Up to now, I have added the following batch task to Hudson, which makes it run the tests properly. "%PROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\MSTest.exe" /runconfig:LocalTestRun.testrunconfig /testcontainer:Tests\bin\Debug\Tests.dll However, as far as I know, Hudson does not support analysis of MS Test results, yet. Does anyone know whether the TRX files generated by MSTest.exe can be transformed to the JUnit or NUnit result format (because those are supported by Hudson), or whether there is any other way to integrate MS Test unit tests with Hudson?

• Keeping a web request alive.

  I have a web application , that helps download reports. But the report generation sometimes takes a lot of time, and the web request times out through the intermediate proxy server.(Timeout :90 secs). The workflow for downloading the report is straightforward. Client sends request to the web server. The web server generates the report , and makes it available to the client as an excel download. The excel is generated using POI and the download is provided using Spring's AbstractExcelView. What could be the best way to keep the web request alive(without increasing the timeout , of course) ?

• [LaTex]: Add in the TOC an included PDF

  In my document I include a PDF using \includepdf[pages=-]{./mypdf.pdf} The problem I'm having is how to add a TOC entry for this pdf. It supposed to be an appendix. I tried adding a new section in the appendix but of course the section name can't be printed on the same page than the included pdf, so the resulting TOC line directs to a wrong page. if I use \addcontentsline I loose the numbering and the page is wrong too because the included pdf actually starts at the next page... I'm a bit lost here so I would really appreciate if someone knows how to do this. note: the pdf I try to include was not generated from LaTex. Thanks in advance.

  A project (a "solution" to say in VS terms) of mine consists of an ASP.Net 4 Dynamic Data Entities web application, some WinForms applications, some WPF applications, some services. All they are intended to work with one SQL Server database, generated from an Entity Framework 4 model as table-per-type, with lots of inheritance and multiple self-referencing relations. Where do I best put my model? In a separate class library, a copy in every project, in one project, etc. What naming should I best use? Is it good idea to name it MySolution.MyClassLibrary.MySolutionEntities, or just MySolutionEntities or just MySolution? Can you share any useful experience on this subject?

  Hi there, Hoping this is a nice softball of a question for a friday but I have the following line of code: //System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException generated if there is no matching data currentAnswers = new CurrentAnswersCollection().Where("PARTICIPANT_ID", 10000).Load()[0]; CurrentAnswersCollection is a strongly-typed collection populated by a view going back to my database. The problem of course is that if there is not a corresponding PARTICIPANT_ID = 10000 I get the error message. Is there a better way to write this so that I wouldn't get the error message at all? I just dont know enough about LINQ syntax to know if I can test for the existance first? thanks.

Were not the databases themselves the units of billing? I mean, I thought that servers were just like logical containers and you were charged per number and size of databases. How servers are billed?   As an example, here is a way to get a matrix of all possible outcomes of rolling 4 (fair) dice. z <- as.matrix(expand.grid(c(1:6),c(1:6),c(1:6),c(1:6))) As you may already have understood, I'm trying to work out a question that was closed, though, in my opinion, it's a challenging one. I used counting techniques to solve it (I mean by hand) and I finaly arrived to a number of outcomes, with a sum of subset being 5, equal to 1083 out of 1296. That result is consistent with the answers provided to that question, before it was closed. I was wondering how could that subset of outcomes (say z1, where dim(z1) = [1083,4] ) be generated using R. Do you have any ideas? Thank you.

• MySQL : incrementing text id in DB

  I need to have text IDs in my application. For example, we have acceptable charset azAZ09, and allowed range of IDs [aaa] - [cZ9]. First generated id would be aaa, then aab, aac, aad e.t.c. How one can return ID & increment lower bound in transaction-fashion? (provided that there are hundreds of concurrent requests and all should have correct result) To lower the load I guess it's possible to define say 20 separate ranges, and return id from random range - this should reduce contention, but it's not clear how to do single operation in the first place. Also, please note that number of IDs in range might exceed 2^32. Another idea is having ranges of 64-bit integers, and converting integer-char id in software code, where it could be done asyncroniously. Any ideas?

  I am a little confused with the routes in Rails 3 as I am just starting to learn the language.   I basically am making webrequests and recieving a JSON response. Depending on the request, I am parsing JSON request into objects I have created. The parsing is pretty much the same no matter what the object Im parsing into looks like. So I have a bunch of methods doing the same work only with different objects, I was wondering how I could accomplish this with generics? • How can I execute a bunch of editor commands stored in a file in VIM?

  I have read the other posts, e.g., http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1830886/vim-executing-a-list-of-editor-commands and others. The answer isn't clear to me for my case. I have some editor commands that I generated from an SQL query. It uses :s/foo/bar to change country codes (from FIPS to a non-standard code set). Here's a sample of the file: :s/CB/CAMBO :s/CQ/NMARI :s/KV/KOSOV :s/PP/PAPUA ... I have saved that in a file called fipsToNonStd.vim (unsure about the correct extension). Check out the problem: - Go to http://dev.imagineelection.com/browse/zip/10011 - Click on one of the warning icons (scroll down to see one). See how the colorbox that pops up is empty?   Hi guys, I have two objects. Object A and Object B. Object A is an instance of a class that was generated from several XSD files. Used xsd.exe /c and compiled them. Now I have my new object. I also have a web service, returning something very similar to object A. So right now I have something along the lines of this: WebService.foo myResponseObj = MyService.GetObject(inData); MyFramework.foo myClientObj = new MyFramework.foo(); What I want to do is this myClientObj = (MyFramework.foo)myResponseObj However, it's not really liking this. Says "Cannot implicitly convert MyFramework.foo[] to WebService.foo[] Any ideas on how to resolve this? The object is quite large and they are basically identical.

  I am using SQLite as my db during development, and I want to postpone actually creating a final database until my domains are fully mapped.   Given a fully qualified class name, and a number of dimensions, i would like to get the Class name for this class. I believe i can do this like such public Class<?> getArrayClass(String className, int dimensions) throws ClassNotFoundException { Class<?> elementType = Class.forName(className); return Array.newInstance(elementType, new int[dimensions]).getClass(); } However this requires me to create an unneeded instance of the class. Is there a way to do this without creating the instance? It does not appear that Class.forName("[[[[Ljava/lang/String;") (or a algorithmically generated version) works correctly in all instances from various blog posts i've seen.

  I have a notifications app that generates notifications for users. The notification class has to be really general, because notifications are generated by all sorts of different things. My question is this: How do I insert links into the text of the notifications? What I tried was this: note = Notification(..., notification="""%s %s has accepted the task: <a href="/tasks/%d/">%s</a>.""" % (request.user.first_name, request.user.last_name, task.id, task.name), ...) • Visual Studio - how to create two projects using the same sources

  My solution consists of 2 executable projects and a couple dlls. Project1 is a Smart Device Project, Project2 is a Windows Forms Project. Both projects use the same libraries, the reason of that is I want to test my libraries on PC before I deploy it on the device. The problem is that the DLL project type can be Smart Device Class Library or Class Library, not both. I cannot add a reference from SD project to WF and vice versa. I was able to add reference from SD project to a dll file (generated from Class Library project) instead of the project itself, but for some reason I got the message "cannot load XXX type from YYY assembly". It doesn't depend on my code, because when I created separate project for the same sources, everything was fine. The only solution I've found is to create 2 types of projects for each library, but I don't know how to make 2 projects based on the same sources.

  What is the best way to connect two daemons in Python? I have daemon A and B. I'd like to receive data generated by B in A's module (maybe bidirectional). Both daemons support plugins, so I'd like to shut communication in plugins. What's the best and cross-platform way to do that? I know few mechanisms from low-level solutions - shared memory (C/C++), linux pipe, sockets (TCP/UDP), etc. and few high-level - queue (JMS, Rabbit), RPC. Both daemons should run on the same host, but obviously better approach is to abstract from connection type. What are typical solutions/libraries in python? I'm looking for an elegant and lightweight solution. I don't need external server, just two processes talking with each other. What should I use in python to do that?

• Axis xsd:dateTime issue

  Here is the whole thing. I 'm using a webservice, with wsdl2java I generate classes and communicate with another application. Problem is , when I use a method from my generated WS client that is resulting in data that contains some object with data in format xsd:dateTime(Axis 1.4), and that data is represensted by java.util.Calendar object in java has time shifted to GMT(about two hours before my time zone). That results in bad data that I have to substract two hours to display correct value. My question is, considering I didn't work on building that webservice(all I have is wsdl url) where is the problem and can I fix it or the problem is at the side of the webservice creator. If I'm it is not clear what I am asking I will gladly explain as much as I can.

• I'm getting a ServerException when I try to send objects from a BlackBerry to a Server via a webserv

  I'm trying to send an array of objects wrapped in an array object wrapper to a WS via JSR172 WS calls. Using the generated stub, I'm able to download objects from the server, but I'm not able to upload objects to the server. This currently happens on all simulators in house. This is all the information I can get out of the server exception: javax.xml.rpc.JAXRPCException: java.rmi.ServerException: Server cannot handle the message because of some temporary condition. Here are the server specs: Windows 7 IIS 7 or 7.5 .NET 3.5 for the WS code written in C#. If anyone knows how to solve this problem, or knows where to look, I'd love to know. Thanks!
