• Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboards With Card Readers?

  When I started working at my current job I developed tendinitis in my wrists. Luckily that cleared up when I started using a Microsoft ergonomic keyboard. The problem is that where I work is moving to more security. We will need to stick a card into a slot to log into our PCs. They bought a bunch of new keyboards with these slots built in. All regular keyboards. Is there something like the Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard that comes with such a card slot? Thanks.

• Microsoft CA certificate templates expires sooner than expected

  The certificates my Microsoft CA is generating do not match the time period indicated in the template used. How can I resolve this? I recently created a new certificate template for use on my Linux boxes on my Microsoft CA (2008 R2 Enterprise). This template is approved for server and client authentication purposes with a validity period of 10 years - the expected lifetime of our Linux boxes - and the subject name supplied in the request. I have checked both the intermediate and offline CA - both have more than 10 years of life listed. Is there some kind of hard limit I'm hitting here?

Our main candidates are MDaemon 11 and Exchange 2007 or 2010. We would like to learn other users experiences on those solutions. The server-side experiences, the user-side experiences , TCO, support options etc. And if there where other solutions (maybe MDaemon 11 + Exchange or anything else) you could suggest ?

• Microsoft Keyboard(8000) play button opens Windows Media Player rather than Zune on Windows 7

  Im currently using the Microsoft 8000 keyboard on Windows 7 and before installing Microsoft's Keyboard application, it was opening Zune and playing music with the play button. After installation, it is now opening Windows Media Player rather than Zune. If I have Zune open and press play, it will open WMP and upon pressing it again, will kick off the play command in Zune. I've checked the default programs in the control panel and have set Zune as default for all available but that hasn't changed anything. Has anyone run into this before? I'm a bit stumped as googling does not produce any relevant results. Thanks!

I checked the path and this path doesn't exist. I couldn't remember that I have a file of D5CC9d01 once. Can somebody please tell me if this is a virus or not? Thanks

  I'm currently running the Apple SUS on a Mac OS X Server in a small office environment. It works well for Apple updates, but I'm still stuck with either manually downloading and installing Adobe/Microsoft updates on each computer or running them through a Squid cache, with the blind faith that Squid will keep the files I actually want to stay cached. What is the best way to cache updates locally for applications like the Adobe Updater or Microsoft AutoUpdate? Ideally cached in such a way that I can tell which files I do or do not have cached. It would also be nice to be able to cache things for other software like Firefox and Sparkle-enabled apps, but these are usually small enough to ignore.

• Multiple .bkf files created in Backupexec 12.5 or 2010 related to heavy I/O?

  Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone who has used backupexec 12.5 or 2010 have ever experienced multiple .bkf files created for a single job. To describe what I mean by multiple files, the .bkf are being created with random file sizes under 2GB even though I've assigned the setting to chop the file after 10GB size. Some jobs will create 20x .bkf files in 1 job with file chunks ranging from 50MB to 800MB sizes. Is this is a sign of heavy I/O issues? Bandwidth limitations? I'm not sure, I'm here to seek some advices and suggestions. I've setup another backup server with the same exact settings and they seem to create a new .bkf file when 10GB limit has been reached. Although I am backing up different machines but I know my settings are an exact match to the problematic or atleast I think it's a problem.

• Does TFS 2010 lock a project collection when it's being cloned?

  We're planning to migrate a project collection currently hosted on TFS 2010 to TFS 2012. We want to keep the current installation running while resolving any issues that might arise, so we need to copy the current project collection to the new server. However, TFS doesn't allow us to attach a restored database backup directly. The database first must be detached from the original TFS installation. We can get around that limitation by cloning the project collection and detaching the clone, but we're not sure whether that would also impact the original project collection. Does TFS lock the original project collection while it's being cloned?

  Possible Duplicate: Multiple delete in Microsoft Outlook Web Access How do you delete all messages in a folder in Outlook, preferrably through Web Access? I left my Outlook account unattended for several days (on vacation) and when I got back I found several folders with over 5k emails, mostly error logging or spam. When I try to open the Outlook client, it just locks up, presumably unable to download that many emails. I can view at most 100 emails at a time, but I can't select all emails to delete or permanently delete them immediately, so manually deleting this many emails is going to take a while. Gmail has a similar feature to select and delete all emails in a folder, and that's free so I figure being a quality non-free product from Microsoft, Outlook should have a similar feature (yes that's sarcasm). I've Googled, but I'm not finding anything. Is this possible?

• Microsoft mouse screws up my power settings

  Running a new computer with Windows 7 and 64-bit OS. Had a wireless Logitech mouse that worked perfectly with this set up. The mouse was old, and the buttons were sticking and causing double clicks, so I bought a new Microsoft Mobile Wireless 3000 mouse to replace it. The new mouse works perfectly, but now my screen saver is disabled and my computer won't go into sleep mode after 15 minutes as per my power setting. If I hook the Logitech mouse back up, screen saver works fine and computer goes to sleep as it should. Am I missing something, or is Microsoft's mouse just junk. Got no software with the new mouse, so no drivers seem available.

  I have to support Sharepoint on a daily basis but do not have the equivalent of domain access so I'm constantly having to ask the guy in charge of Sharepoint to add me to a new security group to complete my task. Rather than having to bug him all the time (he is only somewhat technical) it would be easier to simply have the equivalent of domain admin access for Sharepoint (I'm a sys admin and have domain admin access already but this doesn't seem to carry over to FOSS). What is the equivalent of domain admin access on Sharepoint 2010? Thanks in advance.

  I am trying to use Web Deploy to deploy a site where the Site is rooted on a UNC path instead of a local drive. This is because I want to have a shared configuration, and have all servers point to the same UNC for content.   I have added some advanced properties into my Microsoft Word 2007 document. These were created by doing the following: Click the Office button - Prepare - Properties. Under the Document Properties drop-down menu, select Advanced Properties. In the Custom tab, add properties as needed. My question is how do you insert these custom properties into the Word document so that they are in text form and gets updated when you update the properties in that one spot? Thank you!

It works fine on servers at our office but when I ran it on our remote servers I got must issue a starttls command first So maybe there is a setting somewhere which is different between the two servers, and that's why it's working on one and not the other. • Powerpoint missing from DCOM config

  I have an application that automates the creation of powerpoint files in an ASP.NET environment. This requires that I install powerpoint on the server and also set permissions in the DCOM configuration snap-in (dcomcnfg) to give permissions to the launching user ([DOMAIN]\ASPNET in this case) to run the application. I have this setup running successfully on several Win2k3 machines. I am configuring my first Win2k8 machine and after installing powerpoint on the server, the "Microsoft Powerpoint Presentation" node in DCOM config is not showing up. Other installed Office apps are showing (Excel, Graph, etc...), just not Powerpoint. So when I attempt to run the application, I get an "Access denied" error, which is exactly what I would expect. The user doesn't have permission. Therefore, access denied. The specific error log entry is: The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {91493441-5A91-11CF-8700-00AA0060263B} to the user [DOMAIN]\ASPNET I searched the entire list for the CLSID, too, thinking maybe the name wasn't loading properly. No dice. I also re-ran the setup program for Office thinking maybe there would be some option or something I unchecked in the custom setup options, but I saw nothing that looked helpful. I'm flummoxed. Can anyone out there suggest something to help me get Powerpoint to show up in the list of DCOM applications? Many thanks.

• Word 2007 crashes on Server 2008 R2 terminal services

  We are finding that Word 2007 (with SP2) crashes when used on a Windows 2008 R2 terminal server. Typically it crashes when you click File/Open or File/Save, but not every time. Maybe one time in four, and just to be really confusing, on a test server in my office I can't make it crash. I have just today set up a brand new shiny 2k8 R2 terminal server with as simple a setup as possible, e.g. no anti-virus to confuse things, and we're still seeing crashes. My question is has anyone else seen this, and if so any clues on what's happening? We have a support case open with Microsoft, and the MS support engineer has conceded it's happening, but has so far been unable to find the reason. On possible factor is that all the 2k8 R2 terminal servers I've seen this on have been Hyper-V VMs (running on a 2k8 R2 host). I'm about to put in a physical 2k8 R2 terminal server at the customer where we're seeing the most crashes, in case this is relevant. More news soon. Sorry if this posting seems a bit vague, but this has just bitten us and is causing a lot of pain and sleepless nights :-( If anyone can help I'll be enormously grateful! Update: we've given up and gone back to 2008 pre-R2. Both Office 2003 and 2007 both work fine now. I think there are some problems with TS in R2.
