  • Android Studio Could not call IncrementalTask.taskAction() on task ':project:dexDebug'

    - by akenawell85x
I recently decided to switch from Eclipse to Android Studio. I imported a project I was working on and am now getting this error when I try to run the project. Gradle: Execution failed for task ':project:dexDebug'. > Could not call IncrementalTask.taskAction() on task ':project:dexDebug' I've been cruising this site for 2 days now and trying different suggestions to no avail. I did run gradlew compileDebug --stacktrace and this is what I got: C:\Users\adam\AndroidStudioProjects\projectProject>gradlew compileDebug --stacktrace Relying on packaging to define the extension of the main artifact has been deprecated and is scheduled to be removed in Gradle 2.0 :project:preBuild UP-TO-DATE :project:preDebugBuild UP-TO-DATE :project:preReleaseBuild UP-TO-DATE :project:prepareComAndroidSupportAppcompatV71800Library UP-TO-DATE :project:prepareComGoogleAndroidGmsPlayServices3225Library UP-TO-DATE :project:prepareDebugDependencies :project:compileDebugAidl UP-TO-DATE :project:compileDebugRenderscript UP-TO-DATE :project:generateDebugBuildConfig UP-TO-DATE :project:mergeDebugAssets UP-TO-DATE :project:mergeDebugResources UP-TO-DATE :project:processDebugManifest UP-TO-DATE :project:processDebugResources UP-TO-DATE :project:generateDebugSources UP-TO-DATE :project:compileDebug UP-TO-DATE BUILD SUCCESSFUL Total time: 10.459 secs However I am still getting that error when I try to actually run the project. Here is my build.gradle (i do have a 'libs' folder in my project with all the jars for a google maps/places app): buildscript { repositories { mavenCentral() } dependencies { classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:0.6.+' } } apply plugin: 'android' repositories { mavenCentral() } android { compileSdkVersion 18 buildToolsVersion "18.1.1" defaultConfig { minSdkVersion 8 targetSdkVersion 18 } } dependencies { compile fileTree(dir: 'libs') compile 'com.google.android.gms:play-services:3.2.25' compile 'com.android.support:support-v4:18.0.0' compile 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:+' } and my settings.gradle: include ':project', ':project:libs:android-support-v4', ':project:libs:google-api-client-1.10.3-beta', ':project:libs:google-api-client-android2-1.10.3-beta', ':project:libs:google-http-client-1.10.3-beta', ':project:libs:google-http-client-android2-1.10.3-beta', ':project:libs:google-oauth-client-1.10.1-beta', ':project:libs:gson-2.1', ':project:libs:guava-11.0.1', ':project:libs:jackson-core-asl-1.9.4', ':project:libs:jsr305-1.3.9', ':project:libs:protobuf-java-2.2.0', ':project:libs:GoogleAdMobAdsSdk-6.4.1' As I said, I've tried pretty much everything I have read on here about this error and am having no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • NotFoundException in layout editor for Android?

    - by borg17of20
I'm trying to extend a RelativeLayout object and include an embedded SurfaceView object that uses a png file in my /res/drawable folder as its background but I keep getting an error in the XML Layout editor. See the following code: public class StopMotionRelativeLayout extends RelativeLayout { private Context myContext; private SurfaceView surfaceView1; private BitmapFactory.Options myBitmapOptions; private final android.view.ViewGroup.LayoutParams params = new LayoutParams(LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, android.view.ViewGroup.LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT); public StopMotionRelativeLayout(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); myContext = context; this.setBackgroundColor(Color.GREEN); //init images surfaceView1 = new SurfaceView(myContext, attrs); surfaceView1.setVisibility(View.INVISIBLE); this.addView(surfaceView1, params); } @Override protected void onMeasure(int widthMeasureSpec, int heightMeasureSpec) { super.onMeasure(widthMeasureSpec, heightMeasureSpec); myBitmapOptions = new Options(); myBitmapOptions.outWidth = widthMeasureSpec; myBitmapOptions.outHeight = heightMeasureSpec; surfaceView1.setBackgroundDrawable(new BitmapDrawable(BitmapFactory.decodeResource(this.myContext.getResources(), R.drawable.golf1, myBitmapOptions))); } } I get the following error: NotFoundException: Could not find drawable resource matching value 0x7F020002 (resolved name: golf1) in current configuration. I have seen this type of error may times now and it always happens when I try to load something from a resource file via code and not XML. Curiously, this error does not stop me from compiling the app, and the app runs without error in the emulator. I'd like to get back the use of my layout editor though... Please help. UPDATE: Here is the layout XML <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <com.games.test.StopMotionRelativeLayout android:id="@+id/RelativeLayout01" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> </com.games.test.StopMotionRelativeLayout>

  • Android - BroadcastReceiver CONNECTIVITY ACTION

    - by Marc Ortiz
in my project there's a service that listens for changes in the connectivity. When wifi is switched off to on then it gets called. The problem it's that i'm using a fragment and inside a fragment there's a button with the setonclicklistener(); and onclick(); SOMETIMES when i touch the button then the service receives an intent that the connectivity has changed (the method gets called without any reason...). Here's the code of my fragment activity for the viewpager layout: public static class FragmentSelection extends Fragment { int mNum; static FragmentSelection newInstance(int num) { FragmentSelection f = new FragmentSelection(); // Supply num input as an argument. Bundle args = new Bundle(); args.putInt("num", num); f.setArguments(args); return f; } /** * When creating, retrieve this instance's number from its arguments. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); mNum = (getArguments() != null ? getArguments().getInt("num") : 1) + 1; } @Override public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container, Bundle savedInstanceState) { final View v = inflater.inflate(R.layout.fragment_intro_contenido, container, false); Button btStart = (Button) v.findViewById(R.id.btChanged); final • android costumized button problem with changing text color

    - by alaxid
Hi, I made a button that changes the background drawable on different states, this way: <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <item android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@drawable/btn_location_pressed" /> <!-- pressed --> <item android:state_focused="true" android:drawable="@drawable/btn_location_pressed"/> <!-- focused --> <item android:drawable="@drawable/btn_location"/> <!-- default --> The problem here is that I'm also trying to change the textColor as I do with the drawable but I'm not being able to. I already tried android:textColor and android:color but the first doesn't work whilst the seconds changes my background. The next code is part of my layout. Regarding to the text color it only works for the normal state text color, thus not changing it to the white one while pressed <Button android:id="@+id/location_name" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:paddingTop="5dp" android:background="@drawable/location" android:textSize="15sp" android:textColor="@color/location_color" android:textColorHighlight="#FFFFFF" /> As anybody got a clue? ty! :)

  • Validating a phone number in Android PreferenceScreen

    - by djechelon
I have a PreferenceScreen in which the user is capable, if system can't autodetect it, to enter the device's phone number. I'm still learning this part of Android but I managed to understand a bit of PreferenceScreens by examples provided by Android SDK itself and a few tutorials. What I want is that the user can save the phone number only if null or valid, where by "valid" I mean running a generic validation logic (ie. an anonymous method that returns true or false, that can be reused in any possible situation*) or better, just to simplify things, ^(\+39)?3[0-9]{9}$ For now I have the following XML snip <EditTextPreference android:inputType="phone" android:key="@string/preference_phoneNo" android:selectAllOnFocus="true" android:singleLine="true" android:summary="@string/pref_phoneNumber_description" android:title="@string/pref_phoneNumber" /> and following code by courtesy of Eclipse New Activity wizard: private void setupSimplePreferencesScreen() { if (!isSimplePreferences(this)) { return; } addPreferencesFromResource(R.xml.pref_general); bindPreferenceSummaryToValue(findPreference(getString(R.string.preference_phoneNo))); } addPreferenceFromResource is supposed to load the XML node and add the preference to the screen, while binPreferenceSummaryToValue is supposed to make description text change when preference is updated. Just for sake of completeness for those who don't like code courtesy of the IDE, the second method is provided by Eclipse who also provides a private class in the code file that is /** * A preference value change listener that updates the preference's summary * to reflect its new value. */ In the general case, what should I do to perform validation logic before the preference gets saved when I click OK on the preference editor? Where is the validation logic to be put in a PreferenceScreen? *Aren't we all here to learn?

  • changes in main.xml are not reflected in the android app in netbeans

    - by nitish712
I am new to android apps. I am using the netbeans 7.0.1 IDE to develop android apps. I have written the following code in the main java file: package com.test.helloworld; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.widget.TextView; public class helloworld extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); TextView t1=new TextView(this); t1.setText("hello world..!!!!"); setContentView(t1); } } This was working fine. I edited the main.xml file to display a textfield and button as follows: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" > <Button android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/button_send"/> <EditText android:id="@+id/edit_message" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:hint="@string/edit_message"/> </LinearLayout> Of course I have added all the corresponding strings in strings.xml. But when I try to run my app these weren't displaying... :( . I mean the same string that was displayed previously was being displayed. Can anybody figure out what is the mistake? thanx...

  • SQL SERVER – Securing TRUNCATE Permissions in SQL Server

    - by pinaldave
Download the Script of this article from here. On December 11, 2010, Vinod Kumar, a Databases & BI technology evangelist from Microsoft Corporation, graced Ahmedabad by spending some time with the Community during the Community Tech Days (CTD) event. As he was running through a few demos, Vinod asked the audience one of the most fundamental and common interview questions – “What is the difference between a DELETE and TRUNCATE?“ Ahmedabad SQL Server User Group Expert Nakul Vachhrajani has come up with excellent solutions of the same. I must congratulate Nakul for this excellent solution and as a encouragement to User Group member, I am publishing the same article over here. Nakul Vachhrajani is a Software Specialist and systems development professional with Patni Computer Systems Limited. He has functional experience spanning legacy code deprecation, system design, documentation, development, implementation, testing, maintenance and support of complex systems, providing business intelligence solutions, database administration, performance tuning, optimization, product management, release engineering, process definition and implementation. He has comprehensive grasp on Database Administration, Development and Implementation with MS SQL Server and C, C++, Visual C++/C#. He has about 6 years of total experience in information technology. Nakul is an member of the Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar SQL Server User Groups, and actively contributes to the community by actively participating in multiple forums and websites like SQLAuthority.com, BeyondRelational.com, SQLServerCentral.com and many others. Please note: The opinions expressed herein are Nakul own personal opinions and do not represent his employer’s view in anyway. All data from everywhere here on Earth go through a series of  four distinct operations, identified by the words: CREATE, READ, UPDATE and DELETE, or simply, CRUD. Putting in Microsoft SQL Server terms, is the process goes like this: INSERT, SELECT, UPDATE and DELETE/TRUNCATE. Quite a few interesting responses were received and evaluated live during the session. To summarize them, the most important similarity that came out was that both DELETE and TRUNCATE participate in transactions. The major differences (not all) that came out of the exercise were: DELETE: DELETE supports a WHERE clause DELETE removes rows from a table, row-by-row Because DELETE moves row-by-row, it acquires a row-level lock Depending upon the recovery model of the database, DELETE is a fully-logged operation. Because DELETE moves row-by-row, it can fire off triggers TRUNCATE: TRUNCATE does not support a WHERE clause TRUNCATE works by directly removing the individual data pages of a table TRUNCATE directly occupies a table-level lock. (Because a lock is acquired, and because TRUNCATE can also participate in a transaction, it has to be a logged operation) TRUNCATE is, therefore, a minimally-logged operation; again, this depends upon the recovery model of the database Triggers are not fired when TRUNCATE is used (because individual row deletions are not logged) Finally, Vinod popped the big homework question that must be critically analyzed: “We know that we can restrict a DELETE operation to a particular user, but how can we restrict the TRUNCATE operation to a particular user?” After returning home and having a nice cup of coffee, I noticed that my gray cells immediately started to work. Below was the result of my research. As what is always said, the devil is in the details. Upon looking at the Permissions section for the TRUNCATE statement in Books On Line, the following jumps right out: “The minimum permission required is ALTER on table_name. TRUNCATE TABLE permissions default to the table owner, members of the sysadmin fixed server role, and the db_owner and db_ddladmin fixed database roles, and are not transferable. However, you can incorporate the TRUNCATE TABLE statement within a module, such as a stored procedure, and grant appropriate permissions to the module using the EXECUTE AS clause.“ Now, what does this mean? Unlike DELETE, one cannot directly assign permissions to a user/set of users allowing or revoking TRUNCATE rights. However, there is a way to circumvent this. It is important to recall that in Microsoft SQL Server, database engine security surrounds the concept of a “securable”, which is any object like a table, stored procedure, trigger, etc. Rights are assigned to a principal on a securable. Refer to the image below (taken from the SQL Server Books On Line). urable”, which is any object like a table, stored procedure, trigger, etc. Rights are assigned to a principal on a securable. Refer to the image below (taken from the SQL Server Books On Line). SETTING UP THE ENVIRONMENT – (01A_Truncate Table Permissions.sql) Script Provided at the end of the article. By the end of this demo, one will be able to do all the CRUD operations, except the TRUNCATE, and the other will only be able to execute the TRUNCATE. All you will need for this test is any edition of SQL Server 2008. (With minor changes, these scripts can be made to work with SQL 2005.) We begin by creating the following: 1.       A test database 2.        Two database roles: associated logins and users 3.       Switch over to the test database and create a test table. Then, add some data into it. I am using row constructors, which is new to SQL 2008. Creating the modules that will be used to enforce permissions 1.       We have already created one of the modules that we will be assigning permissions to. That module is the table: TruncatePermissionsTest 2.       We will now create two stored procedures; one is for the DELETE operation and the other for the TRUNCATE operation. Please note that for all practical purposes, the end result is the same – all data from the table TruncatePermissionsTest is removed Assigning the permissions Now comes the most important part of the demonstration – assigning permissions. A permissions matrix can be worked out as under: To apply the security rights, we use the GRANT and DENY clauses, as under: That’s it! We are now ready for our big test! THE TEST (01B_Truncate Table Test Queries.sql) Script Provided at the end of the article. I will now need two separate SSMS connections, one with the login AllowedTruncate and the other with the login RestrictedTruncate. Running the test is simple; all that’s required is to run through the script – 01B_Truncate Table Test Queries.sql. What I will demonstrate here via screen-shots is the behavior of SQL Server when logged in as the AllowedTruncate user. There are a few other combinations than what are highlighted here. I will leave the reader the right to explore the behavior of the RestrictedTruncate user and these additional scenarios, as a form of self-study. 1.       Testing SELECT permissions 2.       Testing TRUNCATE permissions (Remember, “deny by default”?) 3.       Trying to circumvent security by trying to TRUNCATE the table using the stored procedure Hence, we have now proved that a user can indeed be assigned permissions to specifically assign TRUNCATE permissions. I also hope that the above has sparked curiosity towards putting some security around the probably “destructive” operations of DELETE and TRUNCATE. I would like to wish each and every one of the readers a very happy and secure time with Microsoft SQL Server. (Please find the scripts – 01A_Truncate Table Permissions.sql and 01B_Truncate Table Test Queries.sql that have been used in this demonstration. Please note that these scripts contain purely test-level code only. These scripts must not, at any cost, be used in the reader’s production environments). 01A_Truncate Table Permissions.sql /* ***************************************************************************************************************** Developed By          : Nakul Vachhrajani Functionality         : This demo is focused on how to allow only TRUNCATE permissions to a particular user How to Use            : 1. • Nexus 7 (4.2.2) stuck as read-only on Ubuntu 13.04 (PC)

    - by Dalladubb
I have a Nexus 7 running the latest Android (4.2.2) that seems to be stuck as read-only. I cannot transfer any files to or from the device though I am free to look through it. Permissions are: View Content: Only Owner Change Content: Nobody Access Content: Nobody And when I try to change the permission I get this error: Operation not supported by backend I'm baffled. This is a stock install of Ubuntu on my PC and the install isn't that old. Am I missing a lib or something? I feel the need to say it works fine on Windows 7. Thanks for looking.

  • Android/Java Javadoc missing after updating Android SDK

    - by binnyb
After i recently installed the new Android SDK stuff, I no longer can view the Javadoc while editing my project's code. I get this message: Note: This element has no attached source and the Javadoc could not be found in the attached Javadoc. I am getting this message for all methods, variables, classes, etc. I have installed the documentation and everything available to me via the android update manager. I have also tried to do a clean install of the android sdk and eclipse, and no luck getting the javadoc working. I have also tried manually setting the javadoc via project properties -> javadoc location -> file:/C:/Program Files/Android/android-sdk-windows/docs/reference/ with no luck What suggestions do you have that could fix this problem?

  • NTFS Permissions - Access Denied even though Explicit Allow and no Deny

    - by chris613
I'm hoping someone can help me with this NTFS permissions problem. The short version is that I can't write a new file in F:\SomeDir even though I seem to be granted full permissions via both the "Domain Admins" group and a second unprivileged group. The "Effective Permissions" tab in the explorer permissions UI shows that I have full control, and there are no "Deny"s anywhere in the ACL or anything else that looks unusual. I am logged into the machine over RDP and accessing the disk directly, not through a share. F:\SomeDir>set U USERDNSDOMAIN=THEOFFICE.LOCAL USERDOMAIN=THEOFFICE USERNAME=thisisme USERPROFILE=C:\Users\thisisme F:\SomeDir>icacls . . BUILTIN\Administrators:(I)(F) CREATOR OWNER:(I)(OI)(CI)(IO)(F) THEOFFICE\Domain Admins:(I)(OI)(CI)(F) NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(I)(OI)(CI)(F) BUILTIN\Administrators:(I)(OI)(CI)(IO)(F) BUILTIN\Users:(I)(OI)(CI)(RX) Successfully processed 1 files; Failed processing 0 files F:\SomeDir>net group /domain "Domain Admins" The request will be processed at a domain controller for domain THEOFFICE.local. Group name Domain Admins Comment Designated administrators of the domain Members ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Administrator thatguy thisisme The command completed successfully. F:\SomeDir>echo "whyUNoCreateFile?" > whyUNoCreateFile.txt Access is denied. I searched for answers and came across similar problems that lead to UAC (ex. Why does removing the EVERYONE group prevent domain admins from accessing a drive? ). I can't turn off UAC at the moment, so I try a "regular" group that I'm also part of. This group has no special rights assignments and is not part of any administrative groups. Still no dice: [***** This one command executed in an elevated shell *****] F:\SomeDir>icacls . /grant THEOFFICE\iteveryone:(OI)(CI)F processed file: . Successfully processed 1 files; Failed processing 0 files F:\SomeDir>net group /domain "iteveryone" The request will be processed at a domain controller for domain THEOFFICE.local. Group name ITeveryone Comment Members ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Administrator thatguy thisisme otherguy someitguy The command completed successfully. F:\ScanningVMsForIBM>echo y > u Access is denied. As you can see, using a "regular" group didn't help. I have logged out and back in to the server to ensure my login token is up to date, and at any rate I belonged to these groups before the server was created. If I grant explicit permission to myself, it does allow me to write files: [***** This one command executed in an elevated shell *****] F:\SomeDir>icacls . /grant THEOFFICE\thisisme:(OI)(CI)F processed file: . Successfully processed 1 files; Failed processing 0 files F:\SomeDir>echo y > u F:\SomeDir>type u y My requirement is for the "Domain Admins" group to have Full Control, or if that's not possible without disabling UAC, then a second group will do, but I can't get either to work. I'm really stumped. Can someone please point out what I could be overlooking?

  • N64oid Brings N64 Emulation to Android Devices

    - by ETC
Craving some Ocarina of Time adventures, Super Mario 64 antics, or some Star Fox 64 flying on your Android device? N64oid brings retro emulation of Nintendo’s popular N64 console to Android devices. N64oid is an N64 console emulator for Android devices. You’ll need a copy of the $5.99 emulator, ROMs (from the usual sources, unless you’ve got a ROM ripping setup in your basement and a stack of old cartridges), and a suitably speedy Android device. Older Android devices will find the playback choppy and subpar, but newer and speedier devices like the Nexus-One and Samsung Galaxy should have no problem handling the emulator. Like all emulators N64oid is a work in progress and emulating an entire closed-system console on a totally different set of hardware is never a perfect 1:1 emulation, but if you’re a die hard fan of classic N64 titles (check out this list of top ranked titles to inspire some nostalgia) N64oid is worth the price of a burger for sure. • Why does Android make good coding so difficult?

    - by metacircle
my daily work is writing tools in C#/WPF. After over more than 1 year on the job now, I came to love MVVM, IoC Containers, XAML (and more). It's pure fun to write code, since simple, maintainable and extendable code just comes naturally when you follow a few basic patterns. In my free time I really want to write some apps, mainly for my own personal use. I want to write apps for fun and not to make money or anything, that being said, paying an annual fee to be allowed to use my own apps on my own device is a total no-go for me. So I am not able to code for Windows Phone and am also not able to use Xamarin on Android (which is sad since Visual Studio + Resharper is programmers heaven). So I am stuck with Android "classic" Java development. Everytime I sit down at home to create an app, or improve some of the code I have already written I get annoyed very quick because getting good, decoupled code is just so hard to accomplish. It feels like everything you have to do in Android to create a good architecture is a workaround instead of being the way things are meant to be. Writing the UI in xml is fine, but everything else is one big code mess. Even all the tutorials do all their coding in the code behind. For 'hello world' this is fine, but for anything bigger this gets messy very very quick. This is where the fun for me ends. It's just no fun anymore because I just spend 90% of my time refactoring and thinking of workarounds how to make my code more maintainable with all the restrictions Android puts on me. Am I missing a crucial part or is this just the way Android is meant to be? Do you have any suggestions how to learn 'the fun way' of Android programming.

  • Android Activity access Unity Classes

    - by Anomaly
I have made my own C# classes in Unity, is there any way I can access these classes from the Android Activity that starts the UnityPlayer? Example: I have a C# class called testClass in Unity: class testClass{ public static string myString="test string"; } From the Android activity in Java I want to access that class: string str=testClass.myString; Is this possible? If so, how? Or is there some other way to do this? In the end I basically want to communicate between my Android activity and the UnityPlayer object. Thanks in advance. EDIT: Ok so I looked at building Android plugins for Unity but this wasn't satisfactory to me. I ended up building a socket client-server interface in Unity with C# and another one in Java for the Android app: So Unity listens on port X and broadcasts on port Y The Android activity listens on port Y and broadcasts on port X This is necessary as both interfaces are running on the same host. So that's how I solved my problem, but I'm open for any suggestions if anyone knows a better way of communicating between the Unityplayer and your app.

  • Android App Crashes On Second Run

    - by user1091286
My app runs fine on first run. On the Menu I added two choices options and quit. options which set up a new intent who goes to a PreferenceActivity and quit which simply call: "android.os.Process.killProcess(android.os.Process.myPid());" On the second time I run my app (after I quit from inside the emulator) it crashes.. Ideas? the menu is called by the foolowing code: @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.menu , menu); return true; } - @Override public boolean onOptionsItemSelected(MenuItem item) { // Set up a new intent between the updater service and the main screen Intent options = new Intent(this, OptionsScreenActivity.class); • Appropriate SQL Server Permissions for Developers

    - by BJ Safdie
After a couple of Google searches and a quick look at questions here, I cannot seem to find what I thought would be a cookbook answer for SQL Server permissions. As I often see in small shops, most developers here were using an admin account for SQL Server while developing. I want to set up roles and permissions that I can assign to developers so that we can get our jobs done, but also do so with the minimum permissions required. Can anyone offer advice on what SQL Server permissions to assign? Components: SQL Server 2008 SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) 2008 SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) 2008 Platforms: Production Staging/QA Development/Integration We are running "Mixed Mode" security because of some legacy apps and networks, but are moving to Windows Auth. I am not sure if that really affects the role set up. I plan to set up access for Developers to Prod and Staging/QA DBs as Read-Only. However, I still want developers to retain the ability to run Profiling. We need Deployment accounts with higher privilege levels. We are currently trying to figure out exactly what privileges we need for SSIS package deployments. Within the Development Server, Developers need broad privileges. However, I am not sure that just making them all admins is really the best choice. It's hard to believe that no one has published a decent example script that sets up these kinds of roles with a good set of appropriate permissions for developers and deployers. We can probably figure this all out by locking things down and then adding permissions as we discover the need, but that will be way too big a PITA for everyone. Can anyone point me to, or provide, a good exemplar for permissions for these kinds of roles on these kinds of platforms?

  • How to get data from dynamically created EditText views and insert it into an array?

    - by Snwspeckle
    So basically what I need my program to do at this point is that when I click the submit button, I need to loop through each dynamic row of the ListView and grab the value in the EditText view and then insert that into an array which I will do further calculations after. Here is my code right now. package com.hello_world; import java.util.ArrayList; import com.hello_world.ByteInputActivity.MyAdapter.ViewHolder; import android.app.Activity; import android.content.Context; import android.os.Bundle; import android.util.Log; import android.view.KeyEvent; import android.view.LayoutInflater; import android.view.View; import android.view.View.OnFocusChangeListener; import android.view.View.OnKeyListener; import android.view.ViewGroup; import android.widget.BaseAdapter; import android.widget.Button; import android.widget.EditText; import android.widget.ListView; import android.widget.TextView; public class ByteInputActivity extends Activity { private ListView myList; private MyAdapter myAdapter; private Integer resQuestions; private Integer indexVal = 0; private View caption; ViewHolder holder; ArrayList<Integer> intArrayList = new ArrayList<Integer>(); @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.fieldlist); //Gets number of questions from MainActivity Bundle extras = getIntent().getExtras(); if(extras !=null) { resQuestions = extras.getInt("index"); } myList = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.FieldList); myList.setItemsCanFocus(true); myAdapter = new MyAdapter(); myList.setAdapter(myAdapter); Button submit = (Button) findViewById(R.id.btn_New); submit.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { for (int i = 0; i < myList.getCount() ; i++) { View vListSortOrder; vListSortOrder = myList.getChildAt(i); String temp = holder.caption.getText().toString(); Log.e("VALUES", "" +temp); } } }); } public class MyAdapter extends BaseAdapter { private LayoutInflater mInflater; public ArrayList myItems = new ArrayList(); public MyAdapter() { mInflater = (LayoutInflater) getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE); for (int i = 0; i < resQuestions; i++) { ListItem listItem = new ListItem(); listItem.caption = "Index " + i; listItem.indexText = "Index " + i; myItems.add(listItem); indexVal += 1; } notifyDataSetChanged(); } public int getCount() { return myItems.size(); } public Object getItem(int position) { return position; } public long getItemId(int position) { return position; } public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { if (convertView == null) { holder = new ViewHolder(); convertView = mInflater.inflate(R.layout.item, null); holder.indexText = (TextView) convertView .findViewById(R.id.textView1); holder.caption = (EditText) convertView .findViewById(R.id.ItemCaption); convertView.setTag(holder); } else { holder = (ViewHolder) convertView.getTag(); } //Fill EditText with the value you have in data source holder.caption.setText(""); holder.caption.setId(position); holder.indexText.setText("Index " + position); holder.indexText.setId(position); //we need to update adapter once we finish with editing holder.caption.setOnFocusChangeListener(new OnFocusChangeListener() { public void onFocusChange(View v, boolean hasFocus) { if (!hasFocus){ final int position = v.getId(); final EditText Caption = (EditText) v; myItems.set(position, Caption.getText().toString()); } } }); return convertView; } class ViewHolder { EditText caption; TextView indexText; } class ListItem { String caption; String indexText; } } }

  • How to only allow particular programs to modify certain files?

    - by Mehrdad
I want to make certain directories on my drives read-only except to particular programs who will have full permissions. For example, the Microsoft Word might be allowed to modify the files in my Documents folder, but other programs (such as the Command Prompt) would not be allowed to. I'm guessing this requires a file system filter driver of some sort, but I don't know which programs have this capability. Is there any (free) program that can do this for me?

  • Android 1.6: "android.view.WindowManager$BadTokenException: Unable to add window -- token null is no

    - by Dan Monego
I'm trying to open a dialog window, but every time I try to open it it throws this exception: E/AndroidRuntime( 206): Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception E/AndroidRuntime( 206): android.view.WindowManager$BadTokenException: Unable to add window -- token null is not for an application E/AndroidRuntime( 206): at android.view.ViewRoot.setView(ViewRoot.java:460) E/AndroidRuntime( 206): at android.view.WindowManagerImpl.addView(WindowManagerImpl.java:177) E/AndroidRuntime( 206): at android.view.WindowManagerImpl.addView(WindowManagerImpl.java:91) E/AndroidRuntime( 206): at android.app.Dialog.show(Dialog.java:238) E/AndroidRuntime( 206): at android.app.Activity.showDialog(Activity.java:2413) I'm creating it by calling showDialog with the display's id. The onCreateDialog handler logs fine and I can step through it without an issue, but I've attached since it seems like I'm missing something in it: @Override public Dialog onCreateDialog(int id) { Dialog dialog; Context appContext = this.getApplicationContext(); switch(id) { case RENAME_DIALOG_ID: Log.i("Edit", "Creating rename dialog..."); dialog = new Dialog(appContext); dialog.setContentView(R.layout.rename); dialog.setTitle("Rename " + noteName); break; default: dialog = null; break; } return dialog; } Is there something missing from this? Some questions have talked about having this problem when creating a dialog from onCreate, which happen because the activity isn't created yet, but this is coming from a call from a menu object, and the appContext variable seems like it is correctly populated in the debugger.
