• Next generation of command shells?

  I am curious about if there is any project about a replacement for the current unix-shells (like bash, ash, rsh ...), at least adding some new ideas or paradigm in this area. I was searching but i found very few information, this project http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friendly_interactive_shell seems interesting, but not so diferent from the nowadays solutions. What do you think? Do you imagine a linux-distribution on 2020 that still having bash? How can be an evolution of this programs? Br

• Pretty-printing of numpy.array

  Hello, I'm curious, whether there is any way to print formated numpy.arrays, e.g., in the way similar to this: x = 1.23456 print '%.3f' % x If I want to print the numpy.array of floats, it prints several decimals, often in 'scientific' format, which is rather hard to read even for low-dimensional arrays. However, numpy.array apparently has to be printed as a string, i.e., with %s. Is there any solution ready for this purpose? Many thanks in advance :-)

• iPhone. Shouldn't hitting the home button cause UIApplicationDelegate's dealloc to be called

  I have put NSLogs in all my classes including my UIApplicationDelegate subclass. I am curious - and a bit nervous - about why I am not seeing them echo anything when I press the home button. I am running in the XCode simulator. Since iPhone/iPad runs a single app at a time, doesn't hitting the home button discard all traces of the running app? Thanks, Doug

  I need help working with very big numbers. According to Windows calc, the exponent 174^55 = 1.6990597648061509725749329578093e+123. How would I store this using C (c99 standard). int main(){ long long int x = 174^55; //result is 153 printf("%lld\n", x); } For those curious, it is for a school project where we are implementing the RSA cryptographic algorithm, which deals with exponentiating large numbers with large powers for encryption/decryption.

I guesss its because of the convention over configuration and time to launch? (spring has really gone the annotation route so less xml though).   In Javascript, after executing a function I can immediately get the an element of the array returned by the function, like so: myFunc("birds")[0] //gets element zero returned from "myFunc()" This is much easier and faster than doing this: $myArray = myFunc("birds"); echo $myArray[0]; Does PHP have a similar shorthand to javascript? Unfortunately, because of my luck, it will not be a free upgrade...upgrades will cost more.

  Hello, I have declared my own type: data Book = Bookinfo { bookId :: Int, title :: String } deriving(Show) and now: x = Bookinfo it is all ok, valid statement but making bookId x throws an error.
