I really recommend it, specially if you work with these tools (BPEL, SOA Suite and/or OSB), if you are a SOA Architect and/or if your work is focused on production environments.This book provides valuable and useful information for monitoring and automation tasks.In the books is very clearly explained and with screenshots (which makes it even easier to read, understand and follow) how to perform several tasks that are necessary to keep a correct performance on the production environments and the subtasks that must be executed on them.The test sections on chapters 3, 10 and 13 (SOAP tests for partner links and BPEL processes, service tests on web applications, and SOAP test OSB proxy and business service endpoints) look specially interesting for me and I really liked to see that there is special emphasis on the use of WebLogic Server as well.For further information and order the book, please go to the Packt Publishing web site.

  • Designing a "Grid" like object that contains game objects

    I am working on a 2D game, where there's a game "board" on which other game objects are placed. This this is 2D, my starting point was to design a class that will internally use a 2d array for the actual stored game objects. This class could be simply accessed by 2 indices: (i, j) to get game objects on it. My problem is that i have no idea how to make the game "board" "propagate" its data onto its children. Design questions i ran into are: Should the children placed on the board have display properties such as size, screen position? Should the board itself dictate this information? How to update children in case the board changes some of its properties? (position, etc). Should the board be aware of the types of objects stored in it ? I have no idea how similar things such as WPF or other UI frameworks go about organizing a "container like" object that can arrange or apply certain UI properties to its children.

A small part of such a universe could look like this: Systems: Can be very close to a different system, e.g. overlap Can be inside another, much bigger system Can be very far away from any other systems Spawn system specific entities and particles inside the system radius Have some properties like background color So far so good. However, the player can fly around freely, inside and outside of systems, in real time. How do I interpolate and determine things like the background color now, depending on camera position? E.g. if you are halfway between a green and a red system you should see a background halfway between red and green, or if you are inside a lilac system near the center and at the border of a green system you should get a mostly lilac background etc.

  • canvas tile grid, hover effects, single tilesheet, etc

    I'm currently in the process of building both the client and server side of an html5, canvas, and WebSocket game. This is what I have thus far for the client: http://jsfiddle.net/dDmTf/7/ Current obstacles The hover effect has no idea what to put back after the mouse leaves. Currently it's just drawing a "void" tile, but I can't figure out how to redraw a single tile without redrawing the whole map. How would I go about storing multiple layers within the map variable? I was considering just using a multi-dimensional array for each layer (similar to what you see as the current array), and just iterating through it, but is that really an efficient way of doing it? Side note The tile sheet being used for the jsfiddle display is only for development. I'll be replacing it as things progress in the engine. I hope you can help! Hopefully you guys can help me, I've been struggling to get through things, since I'm learning how things kind of stuff works as I go. If you guys have any pointers for my JavaScript, feel free. As I'm more or less learning advanced usage as I go, I'm sure I'm doing plenty of things wrong. Note: I will continue to update this post as the engine improves, but updating the jsfiddle link and updating the obstacles list by striking things that have been solved, or adding additions.     Problem Link - http://www.iarcs.org.in/inoi/2009/zco2009/zco2009-1a.php You have to find the path with the maximum weight, from the top-left cell to the bottom-right cell. It could've been solved with a simple Dynamic Programming approach, if it were not for the special condition - you are allowed at most one move that can be either to the left or up. How do I now approach the problem with this special case? Also, I'm looking for a time-efficient approach. Thanks!

  • custom control in DataGridTemplateColumn

    Hi all, I'd like to add my custom control into a template column of data grid. The custom control is very similar to a text box, but has an icon in it. The user can click the icon, and selects an item from a prompted window, then the selected item will be filled into the text box. My problem is when the text box is filled, after I click the second column, the text will disappear. If I replace the custom control with a simple text box, the result is the same.     It looks like that the 'grid' option in the constructor of Draggable is relatively bound to the original coordinates of the element being dragged - so simply put, if you have three draggable divs with their top set respectively to 100, 200, 254 pixels relative to their parent: <div class="parent-div" style="position: relative;"> <div id="div1" class="draggable" style="top: 100px; position: absolute;"></div> <div id="div2" class="draggable" style="top: 200px; position: absolute;"></div> <div id="div3" class="draggable" style="top: 254px; position: absolute;"></div> </div> Adn all of them are getting enabled for dragging with 'grid' set to [1, 100]: draggables = $('.draggable'); $.each(draggables, function(index, elem) { $(elem).draggable({ containment: $('#parent-div'), opacity: 0.7, revert: 'invalid', revertDuration: 300, grid: [1, 100], refreshPositions: true }); }); Problem here is that as soon as you drag div3, say, down, it's top is increased by 100, moving it to 354px instead of being increased by just mere 46px (254 + 46 = 300), which would get it to the next stop in the grid - 300px, if we are looking at the parent-div as a point of reference and "grid holder". I had a look at the draggable sources and it seem to be an in-built flaw - they just do all the calculations relative to the original position of the draggable element. I would like to avoid monkey-patching the code of draggable library and what I am really looking for here is the way how to make the Draggable calculate the grid positions relative to containing parent. However if monkey-patching is unavoidable, I guess I'll have to live with it. Thanks!

    There seems to be a change in behaviour between .Net 3.5 and .Net 4.0. If I define a window as: <Window x:Class="WpfApplication1.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="MainWindow" Height="350" Width="500" > <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition MinWidth="300" /> <ColumnDefinition /> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <TextBox Grid.Column="1" ScrollViewer.CanContentScroll="True" ScrollViewer.HorizontalScrollBarVisibility="Auto" Text="abc abc abc abc abc abc abc abc abcabc abc abcabc abc abc abc abc abc" /> </Grid> </Window> In .Net 3.5 the textbox correctly contains itself within the grid cell but in .Net 4.0 it extends beyond the cell and so gets clipped. This only happens if the MinWidth of the first column is greater than 50% of the overall width. Does anyone know how to get 4.0 to exhibit the same behavior as 3.5?

    I have about 12-15 images that I want to align together in a grid, with text under each image. I thought about using a table, but I hear that tables aren't the best way to go these days. I tried a few other things, but nothing seemed to work the way I wanted it to. What are some other methods, besides tables, that I should look into using? Any suggestions or references would be helpful.

  • WPF Grid Row / Column Sizing in Proportion to DesiredSize?

    I have two user controls arranged vertically in a grid, both of which can expand to be taller than the grid can accommodate. I've put them in each in a scrollviewer which functionally works. What I want though is to give them them space in proportion to the amount that they want at run time. So if there's 500 height available, the upper control wants 400 and the lower 600, the upper control would get 200 and the bottom 300. I have no idea at design time how much space each will want in proportion to the other, so using 1*, 2* etc. for row height won't work for me. I can hand-code run-time proportional sizing, but am I missing a simple trick in XAML that would get me what I want?     Hello! I'm using a DataGrid with edit functionalities in my project. It's handy, compared to having to edit its source data manually, but sadly, that means that I'll have to deal with validating user input a bit more. And my problem is basically just that. When I set my DataGrid to EDIT mode, modify the values and then set it to UPDATE, what is the best way to check if a value that I've entered is, in fact, compatible with the corresponding column's data type? i.e. (simple example) // assuming DataTable dt = new DataTable(); dt.Columns.Add("aa",typeof(System.Int32)); DataGrid dg = new DataGrid(); dg.DataSource = dt; dg.DataBind(); dg.UpdateCommand += dg_Update; // this is the update handler protected void dg_Update(object src, DataGridCommandEventArgs e) { string newValue = (someValueIEnteredInTextBox); // HOW DO I CHECK IF [newValue] IS COMPATIBLE WITH COLUMN "aa" ABOVE? dt.LoadDataRow(newValue, true); } Thanks guys.   • Sun Grid Engine : jobs are not well balanced

    I use Open Grid Scheduler (a fork/copy of Sun Grid Engine). I have tried this configuration from master: # qconf -mattr exechost complex_values slots=8 slave2 # qconf -mq all.q | grep slots slots 100,[slave1=1],[slave2=8] slave1 is down, then I run 10 qsub with a sleep example (so no CPU consumption) but only 4 jobs are run at the same time on slave2 instead of I have put 8 slots. What does I missed ? PS: my goal is to provide infinite slots to force SGE to schedule only via consummable ressources.
