• Eclipse 3.5 (Cocoa) slowing down irregularly after some time

  Hi, I'd like to hear, if anyone else encounters the same problems, and doesn't use Google's GWT (2.0) plugins: Sometimes, my Eclipse 3.5 (Cocoa) slows down after some time of usage (=30 minutes), so that things like maximizing an editor or moving the splitters becomes unbearably slow (reacting only after several seconds). After an Eclipse restart, everything's fine again. I'm not running low on memory (neither free RAM, nor memory available to Eclipse - Heap/Stack/PermGenSpace), and my system specs are not too bad. I know exactly one other person so far, who sees the same problem - but he also uses the GWT plugins. Since these issues appear irregularly, they're hard to track. Before creating an issue on the GWT bug tracker, I'd like to find out, if this also happens for somebody without Google's plugins. Thanks, Chris Edit: I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.2

• App shuts down when pushing UIbutton!

  For reasons unknown my app shuts down upon pressing a UIButton in the simulator. I have dynamically added my UIView, if that is of relevance. No tracelog or debug information just a rush exit... • Grabbing the right record in a drop down from mysql

• JQuery or Javascript solution for selecting default value in drop down

  I have a calender list in a webpart page, this webpart page has a version number in it's title e.g. "WebPart 1.62". What I need to do is when a New item is created in the calender list on a webpart page, the New Item form has a dropdown menu 'SystemID' which gets it's values from the title column of a 'Systems' list, which is pre-populated with all versions of webpart forms. This dropdown menu 'SystemID' should select the version of the webpart page it is in as the default value. I need a JQuery solution for this, or even Javascript. I am finding it difficult as I am new to both JQuery and Sharepoint. I am using SP2007. I'll appreciate any guidance in solving this. At the moment the Create New Item form of the Calender list has the 'SystemID' drop down list pre-populated with the versions from the Systems list. If anyhthing is unclear pls let me know and I'll explain in more detail.

And I am trying to traverse from input.save at the bottom right the way up to div.node... This all works well with one copy of the markup but if I duplicate it (obvisouly changing the ID of the uppermost div.node and use jQuery.closest('div.node') for the upper of the div.node's it will return the element below it not the element above it (which is the right one). I've tried using parents() but that also has it's caveats. • Creating Drill-Down Detail UITableView from JSON NSDictionary

  I'm have a load of trouble finding out how to do this, I want to show this in a UITableDetailView (Drill-Down style) with each item in a different cell. All of the things I've read all show how to load a single image on the detail instead of showing as a UITableView. Does the dictionary have to have "children" in order to load correctly? Here is the code for the first view creating *dict from the JSON rowsArray. I guess what I'm looking for is what to put in the FollowingDetailViewController.m to see the rest of *dict contents, so when selecting a row, it loads the rest of the *dict. I have rowsArray coming back as follows: '{ loginName = Johnson; memberid = 39; name = Kris; age = ;}, etc,etc... • PHP PayPal IPN - Getting drop down menu

  I'm using Paypal's buy it now buttons along with an IPN handler written in PHP to send me an e-mail whenever a purchase is made. The e-mail is properly being sent and is passing much of the data, but it's not capturing the drop down list for selecting a clothing item's size. Here's my button code fields: <input type="hidden" name="item_name" value="Test Shirt"> <input type="hidden" name="item_number" value="001"> <input type="hidden" name="on0" value="sizes"> Select a size: <select name="os0"> <option value="Small">Small </option> <option value="Medium">Medium </option> <option value="Large">Large </option> <option value="Extra Large">Extra Large </option> </select> My PHP IPN script that captures the data into variables looks like this: $item_name = $_POST['item_name']; $item_number = $_POST['item_number']; $size = $_POST['on0']; $sizeChoice = $_post['os0']; The e-mail properly displays the item name and item number, but nothing for the $size and $sizeChoice variables. It's late so I'm sure I'm looking over something very obvious but am still wondering if I'm just calling it wrong or if I'm forgetting some hidden fields? Thanks :)

• iPhone sdk Cocoa Touch - Pass touches down from parent UIView to child UIScrollview

  I have a UIView inside my xib in IB and inside that is a UIScrollview that is a small 80x80 square and dynamically loaded with 8 or so 80 x 80 thumbnail images. The UIScrollview is not clipping the images so that they extend out either side so you can swipe left and right to scroll a chosen image into the the centre, paging is on so they snap ti each image. I have researched and found this is the best and possibly only way to do this. The UIScrollview sits in a 'container' UIView for one reason, it is there to receive the touches/swipes and pass them down to it's child the UIScrollview as otherwise all touches would have to start in the small 80x80 UIScrollview area and I wan them to be anywhere along the row of images. I have seen some sample code somewhere for doing this but just can not implement it. Treat me as a noob, starting from beginning to end, how should the UIView and UIScrollview be set up in IB to allow any touches to be passed, and what code should I put into where? The UIView is set up as scroll_container and the child UIScrollview is char_scroll At the moment I have got it all working except for the touches being passed from the parent to the child, and at the moment the touches have to always start inside the UIScrollview (tiny 80x80 box in centre) when I want to be able to swipe left or right in the long 480X80 horizontal parent UIView and have this still scroll the child UIScrollview. Hope you can help and understand what I mean!

• Compiler optimization causing the performance to slow down

  I have one strange problem. ( profiled using AQTimer) I found an unused variable double d = 0.0; outside the outer loop and removed the same. After this change, suddenly the method is taking 500ms for the same number of executions. ( 5 times slower). This behavior is reproducible in different machines with different processor types. (Core2, dualcore processors). I am using VC6 compiler with optimization level O2. Follwing are the other compiler options used : -MD -O2 -Z7 -GR -GX -G5 -X -GF -EHa I suspected compiler optimizations and removed the compiler optimization /O2. After that function became normal and it is taking 100ms as old code. Could anyone throw some light on this strange behavior? Why compiler optimization should slow down performance when I remove unused variable ? Note: The assembly code (before and after the change) looked same.

• JScrollPane Scrolls Down with Long Text in JEditorPane

  Hello, I want to have a JEditorPane inside a JScrollPane. When the user clicks a button, the click listener will create a textEditor, call jscrollpane.setViewPort(textEditor), call textEditor.setText(String) to fill it with editable text, and call jscrollpane.getVerticalScrollBar().setValue(0). In case you're wondering, yes, the setText() must come after the setViewPort() for reasons that aren't on topic. Here is the problem: After the user clicks the button, the JScrollPane's view scrolls all the way to the bottom. I want the scrollbar to be at the top, as per the last line in my click listener. I popped open a debugger, and to my horror, discovered that the jscrollpane's viewport is being forced down to the bottom after the conclusion of the click listener (when pumping filters). It appears that Swing is delaying the population of the editor/jscrollpane until after the conclusion of the clicklistener, but is calling the scrollbar command first. Thus, the undesired behavior. Anyway, I'm wondering if there is a clean solution. It seems that wanting a scrollpane to be scrolled to the top after modification would be a reasonably common requirement, so I'm assuming this is a well-solved problem. Thanks!

  I have a webpage that uses multiple instances of the jQuery ui datepicker. However, if I scroll down the page and then click a datepicker icon, the datepicker does not appear in the screen window but is instead rendered right back near the top of the screen. • ASP.net drop down dynamically styling and then remembering the styles on aborted submit

  So, I've got an ASP drop down list (this is .net 2.0). I'm binding it with data. Basically, when the page loads and it's not a post back we'll fetch record data, bind all the drop downs, and set them to their appropriate values (strictly speaking we: initialize page with basic set of data from DB, bind drop downs from DB, fetch actual record data from DB, set drown downs to appropriate settings at this time). What I want to do is selectively style the list options. So the database returns 3 items: ID, Text, and a flag indicating whether I the record is "active" (and I'll style appropriately). It's easy enough to do and I've done it. My problem is what happens when a form submission is halted. We have slightly extended the Page class and created an AddError() method, which will create a list of errors from failed business rule checks and then display them in a ValidationSummary. It works something like this, in the submit button's click event: CheckBizRules(); if(Page.IsValid) { SaveData(); } If any business rule check fails, the Page will not be valid. The problem is, when the page re-renders (viewsate is enabled, but no data is rebound) my beautiful conditional styling is now sadly gone, off to live in the land of the missing socks. I need to preserve it. I was hoping to avoid another DB call here (e.g. getting the list data back from the DB again if the page isn't valid, just for purposes of re-styling the list). But it's not the end of the world if that's my course of action. I was hoping someone might have an alternative suggestion. I couldn't think of how to phrase this question better, if anyone has any suggestions or needs clarification don't hesitate to get it, by force if need be. ;)

• How can I pare down Vim's buffer list to only include active buffers

  How can I pare down my buffer list to only include buffers that are currently open in a window/tab? When I've been running Vim for a long time, the list of buffers revealed by the :ls command is too large to work with. Ideally, I would like to delete all of the buffers which are not currently visible in a tab or window by running a custom command such as :Only. Can anybody suggest how to achieve this? It looks like the :bdelete command can accept a list of buffer numbers, but I'm not sure how to translate the output from :ls to a format that can be consumed by the :bdelete command. Any help would be appreciated. Clarification Lets say that in my Vim session I have opened 4 files. The :ls command outputs: :ls 1 a "abc.c" 2 h "123.c" 3 h "xyz.c" 4 a "abc.h" Buffer 1 is in the current tab, and and buffer 4 is in a separate tab, but buffers 2 and 3 are both hidden. I would like to run the command :Only, and it would wipe buffers 2 and 3, so the :ls command would output: :ls 1 a "abc.c" 4 a "abc.h" This example doesn't make the proposed :Only command look very useful, but if you have a list of 40 buffers it would be very welcome.

• MVC4 - how to vaildate a drop down list?

  I have a .Net MVC4 model / view with a number of [Required] fields, one of which is selected via a drop down list, "Content_CreatedBy" [the first code block below]. Client side validation fires on all fields except the DDL [although server side validation does not allow no entry in DDL]. I have tried validating on the DDL text as well its numeric value but niether fire on the client side. Can anyone see what I am doing wrong? • Floats being pushed down in IE8 but not IE7 or Firefox

  The page in question is here: http://supportdogs.digitalportals.net/PhotoGallery/16-Events You can see in IE8 that the content is being pushed down under the sidebar. If you view it in IE8 compatibility mode, it doesn't happen, nor does it happen in Firefox. If you browse to a different page in IE8 the issue does not persist. • Image in table cell doesn't scale down: using ie8/7

  Can anyone help me troubleshoot my website? http://www.andrewstonyer.co.uk/test/ My problem: On IE8/7 if you click on a thumbnail (only 'Pulse' and 'Time Within The Hour' are wired in right now) an overlay appears with detail of that piece. What should happen, and does in Gecko/Webkit, is that the overlay contains a table with a heading, a scaled, centered image, and a nav menu. There is a toggle for text, which pushes up the image cell and makes the image smaller, keeping proportion. I know the overlay looks like ass right now- those are just placeholder colours :) On IE, the image doesn't fit perfectly in the table cell, which means that everything is pushed down outside the window. I can't see the nav menu. It appears to render the image at actual pixel size (in the CSS, the img class element is set to 100% height). The text cell is toggled with jquery, when toggled on in IE, it doesn't appear to 'squeeze' the above cell, which is what I want to happen. Could any experts help? Regards, Jon

All that is supposed to happen is you select a url from the drop down menu and it auto sends you to that url that is in the value of the option tag. Works everywhere else, not sure why IE has to be such a jerk today. I'd post a url but i can't at the moment. its private. has anyone encountered this issue before?

• Tracking down slow managed DLL loading

  I am faced with the following issue and at this point I feel like I'm severely lacking some sort of tool, I just don't know what that tool is, or what exactly it should be doing. Here is the setup: I have a 3rd party DLL that has to be registered in GAC. This all works fine and good on pretty much every machine our software was deployed on before. But now we got 2 machines, seemingly identical to the ones we know work (they are cloned from the same image and stuffed with the same hardware, so pretty much the only difference is software settings, over which I went over and over, and they seem fine). Now the problem, the DLL in GAC takes a very long time to load. At least I believe this is the issue, what I can say definitively is that instantiating a single class from that DLL is the slow part. Once it is loaded, thing fly as they always have. But while on known-good machines the DLL loads so fast that a timestamp in the log doesn't even change, on these 2 machines it take over 1min to load. Knowns: I have no access to the source, so I can't debug through the DLL. Our app is the only one that uses it (so shouldn't be simultaneous access issues). There is only one version of this DLL in existance, so it shouldn't be a matter of version conflict. The GAC reference is being used (if I uninstall the DLL from GAC, an exception will be thrown about the missing GAC reference). Could someone with a greater skill in debug-fu suggest what I can do to track down the root cause of this issue?

• CSS Drop Down Menu

  I'm trying to make a simple CSS drop down menu that when you mouse over a link, the sub menu appears. I've managed to achieve this when you mouse over an li but can't figure out how to do it using a link. The reason why I'm trying to do this using a link rather than the li is that my menu width is 100% and the li spans a greater area than the link so if you mouse over that area, the sub menu appears when you don't want it to.   I have a shopping cart script that I am trying to modify to support multiple product selection. As it is now, the customer can select a product from a single drop down menu. Now, I would like to add multiple dropdown menus (all populated with the same options). • jQuery : how to determine that a div is scrolled down

  I have a div with defined height, and overflow:scroll;. Its content is too long so scrollbars appear. Now for the ichy part. Some of its inner HTML strangely appears all the time (to be precise, the footer of a table generated by the tableFilter plugin). I'd like to make this footer disappear when it is not needed (it actually appears out of the containing <div>'s border). I resolved to make it disappear but setting its z-index to -1000. But I want to make it appear when the containing <div> is totally scrolled down. How can I know the user has scrolled at the bottom ? Using the help from answers below, I used scrollTop attribute but the difference between scrollTop and innerHeight is the size of the scrollbar plus some unidentified delta. A scrollbar is 16 pixels high in most browsers under Windows, but I get a difference of 17 in Firefox and something like 20 in IE, where my <div> content's borders seems to be rendered bigger. A way (actually two ways...) to compute the scrollbar size has been given there.
