  • Handle existing instance of root activity when launching root activity again from intent filter

    Hi, I'm having difficulties handling multiple instances of my root (main) activity for my application. My app in question has an intent filter in place to launch my application when opening an email attatchment from the "Email" app. My problem is if I launch my application first through the the android applications screen and then launch my application via opening the Email attachment it creates two instances of my root activity. steps: Launch root activity A, press home Open email attachment, intent filter triggers launches root activity A Is it possible when opening the Email attachment that when the OS tries to launch my application it detects there is already an instance of it running and use that or remove/clear that instance?

  • How to handle ViewModel and Database in C#/WPF/MVVM App

    I have a task management program with a "Urgency" field. Valid values are Int16 currently mapped to 1 (High), 2 (Medium), 3 (Low), 4 (None) and 99 (Closed). The urgency field is used to rank tasks as well as alter the look of the items in the list and detail view. When a user is editing or adding a new task they select or view the urgency in a ComboBox. A Converter passes Strings to replace the Ints. The urgency collection is so simple I did not make it a table in the database, instead it is a, ObservableCollection(Int16) that is populated by a method. Since the same screen may be used to view a closed task the "Closed" urgency must be in the ItemsSource but I do not want the user to be able to select it. In order to prevent the user from being able to select that item in the ComboBox but still be able to see it if the item in the database has that value should I... Manually disable the item in the ComboBox in code or Xaml (I doubt it) Change the Urgency collection from an Int16 to an Object with a Selectable Property that the isEnabled property of the ComboBoxItem Binds to. Do as in 2 but also separate the urgency information into its own table in the database with a foreign key in the Tasks table None of the above (I suspect this is the correct answer) I ask this because this is a learning project (My first real WPF and first ever MVVM project). I know there is rarely one Right way to do something but I want to make sure I am learning in a reasonable manner since it if far harder to Unlearn bad habits Thanks Mike

  • How can i handle a form submit using REAL OOP in PHP

    Im used to java and creating UML.. and i was wondering how can PHP be OOP, the objects live only until you make a request.. then they destroy, so if im using a database is useless to create a class and add the members (variables) to the class, they will be useless.. i cant pass the main system object from one page to another, or similar so how can PHP be compare to jave? you never do OOP .. i mean REAL OOP.. not creating classes , in fact your index will be a procedural file with some object instance and then ? how about if i make a html form and i want to submit the data.. i have to call a file which is not a class is a php procedural file were i grab the submited data with POST, from that file you will instance a class and do some logic there.. but for me thats not pure OOP.. can somebody point me to the right way of OOP using a form submit example ?     Hi, I have 2 views, each for portrait and landscape. I start by displaying the portrait view. On both the views, I have a button, which presents a modal view on clicking it. When the modal view comes up and then I rotate the iPad, the portrait view is replaced by the landscape view, but the modal view goes behind this view.   • Best practice to handle Parent Form Child Form relation using Presentation Model

    According to Presentation Model notes by Martin Fowler and also on MSDN documentation about Presentation Model, it is explained that the Presentation Model Class should be unaware of the UI class and similarly Business Model Class should be unaware of the Presentation Model class. The UI should databind extensively to the Presentation Model, the Presentation Model in turn will co-ordinate with one or more Domain/Business Model objects to get the job done. The Presentation Model basically presents the Domain Model data in a way to facilitate maximum data binding in UI, allowing the UI take as less decisions as possible and thus increase testability of Presentation behaviours. This also makes the presentation model class generic, i.e. agnostic of any particular UI technology. Now, consider there is a List form (say CustomerList) and there is another Root form (say Customer) and there is a Use Case of allowing to Edit a Customer from the CustomerList form on a button click. For simplicity of discussion, consider that some actions took place when Customer List is opened from menu (i.e. Customer menu clicked) and the Customer List has been shown from the Menu click event. Now as per the above Use Case, I need to open the Customer Root UI (single Customer) from the Customer List. How do I do that? Build necessary objects (BusinessModel, PresentationModel, UI) in click event of Edit button and call CustomerEdit UI from there? Build the CustomerEdit UI from Presentation Model Class and show UI from presentation model? this can be done in any of the two ways below - a. Create objects in the following sequence DomainModel-PresentationModel-UIForm b. Use Unity.Resolve(); Either ways, Presentation Model is violated as the P model now has to the refer the concrete UI assembly, where CustomerEdit is located. Also the P Model has to refer and use a WinForm directly making it less UI technology agnostic. Even though the violations are in theory and can be ignored, I would still seek the community's opinion about whether I am going wrong direction. Please suggest if there's a better way to call the Child Form from the List (Parent) Form. Rajarshi

    I read a lot on how to save my instance state or how to deal with my activity getting destroyed during screen rotation. There seem to be a lot of possibilities but I haven't figured out which one works best for retrieving results of an AsyncTask. I have some AsyncTasks that are simply started again and call the isFinishing() method of the activity and if the activity is finishing they wont update anything. The problem is that I have one Task that does a request to a web service that can fail or succeed and restarting the task would result in a financial loss for the user. How would you solve this? What are the advantages or disadvantages of the possible solutions?

My view have button - 'View Accessories', onclick of this button one popup screen- in my design I have display/hide Grid and bind it with ObservationCollection of PhoneAccessoryViewModel. Now problem begins- Accessory List also have button 'View Detail' onclick I have to open one popup screen, here also I had placed one Grid and Visible/Hide it. I have bind 'ViewAccessoryDetailCommand' command to 'View Detail' button. And on command execution one function fires and set property which Visible the Popup screen. Using such programming command fires, function calls but the property change not raises and so my view does not display popup. Summary: One View-- ViewModel1--Grid Bind view ViewModel2 --Grid Have Button and Onclick display new Grid which binded with ViewModel3-this Command fires but property not raises. I think there is some problem in my methodology, Please, give your suggetions.

  • PyQt and unittest - how to handle signals and slots

    Hello, some small application I'm developing uses a module I have written to check certain web services via a REST API. I've been trying to add unit tests to it so I don't break stuff, and I stumbled upon a problem. I use a lot of signal-slot connections to perform operations asynchronously. For example a typical test would be (pseudo-Python), with postDataDownloaded as a signal: def testConnection(self): "Test connection and posts retrieved" def length_test(): self.assertEqual(len(self.client.post_data), 5) self.client.postDataReady.connect(length_test) self.client.get_post_list(limit=5) Now, unittest will report this test to be "ok" when running, regardless of the result (as another slot is being called), even if asserts fail (I will get an unhandled AssertionError). Example when deliberatiely making the test fail: Test connection and posts retrieved ... ok [... more tests...] OK Traceback (most recent call last): [...] AssertionError: 4 != 5 The slot inside the test is merely an experiment: I get the same results if it's outside (instance method). I also have to add that the various methods I'm calling all make HTTP requests, which means they take a bit of time (I need to mock the request - in the mean time I'm using SimpleHTTPServer to fake the connections and give them proper data). Is there a way around this problem?

    Hi, I have a ToolStripComboBox in a ToolStrip, and when I press TAB key in it, it gives focus to the next toolstrip button. I would like to change this behavior and give focus to a richtextbox on my form instead. The problem is that ToolStripComboBox does not have PreviewKeyDown event. And PreviewKeyDown of the hosting ToolStrip Toolbar is not called when tab key is pressed in the combo (just when pressed and some toolstripbutton is focused). TabStop of the toolstrip toolbar is false. Any ideas?

    Hello, I'd like to use the anchor part of the url (after the #) so that my page can have ajax/dhtml but still be able to have bookmarks work properly. I'm wondering is someone can help me get started on writing some javascript code for this. I'm using jQuery, but if the solution's a generic one, that's fine too. For my page, I could have settings like: "a" could be a number from 10-50 "b" is a 0 or 1 "c" is a 0 or 1 etc... I'd like some tips on writing optimized javascript code which could both parse and set something like #a=23&b=0&c=1 Also, I'd like to keep my url as short as possible, so if the default of "a" was 23, in the example above, the a=23 would be omitted. Is there a library that does all this stuff already?

    I have the following models set up: class Contact < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :band belongs_to :mode validates_presence_of :call, :mode validates_associated :mode, :band validates_presence_of :band, :if => :no_freq? validates_presence_of :freq, :if => :no_band? protected def no_freq? freq.nil? end def no_band? band.nil? end end class Band < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :logs end class Mode < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :logs end When I enter a frequency on my new view it allows for no band to be specified if a freq is entered. This creates a problem in my other views though because band is now nil. How do I allow for band not to be specified and just show up as empty on my index and show views, and then in the edit view allow one to be specified at a later point in time. I have been able to get my index to display a blank by doing: contact.band && contact.band.name But I'm not sure if this is a best approach, and I'm unsure of how to apply a similar solution to my other views.     I'm new to Watir and I've having a little trouble getting logged in in my tests. I use authlogic as my authentication method of choice. When a User registers, they are sent an email with a confirmation link. Clicking this link confirms their account and they can then login. The issue I'm having is how do I confirm the User when using Watir? Now I try to confirm the User like so: Given /I am confirmed/ do User.last.confirmed! end Unfortunately this doesn't work. What am I missing?

    I want to use the exclusive key to open context menu that are available in most of the new laptops and keyboards. This key is usually available between right ALT and CTRL key. I am not sure that it is always equivalent to "Shift + F10" ( or is it always equivalent to "Shift+F10" ?). My programs runs on Windows XP and earlier versions. Context menu should appear at mouse cursor position (if it's possible).
