    I tried a little searching first before I came to ask in here. And I found this code, but I don't understand it. sudo mkdir /mnt/usbdrv sudo mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/usbdrv What is vfat?What is sda1 and what is -t? How do I type this in order to be compatible with my flash drive?

    I just bought a nettop. It came with WinXP Home. I first installed Win 7 on it. I wasn't that happy with the performance so I decided to go back to XP. I am using an external dvd drive and a Win XP Pro disc. I boot from the dvd drive and during the install get this error: Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program. Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3.   • A home router for torrents, gaming, webbing and detailed QoS [closed]

    I want to plug in an external HD on it to torrent up never ending (mostly for seeding), with lowest priority. It should even automatically completely stop if it disturbs my net usage, and go back in later. And I want to be able to give gaming (or my computer) the highest priority, because of its ping requirements. It should be above even of Skype and any voip, which also have high priority. Web surfing and "youtubing" comes in the middle - it won't matter much if it delays a second or two. Finally, interface as simple as possible. It's fine if it's command line setup, but it needs to have a GUI. What are my options for routers / firmwares as described? Maybe Gargoyle? Or even Time Capsule? It seems to me good old DD-WRT isn't the best option out there anymore. I wonder what else could cover these grounds.

  • External hard drive is recognized but not mounted in OS X

    My external HD got unplugged without ejecting and my Mac will no longer mount the drive, but it recognizes it's there. I already tried repairing the disk in Disk Utility, and erasing it in Disk Utility, and it still won't mount. I can't imagine the hardware is actually damaged otherwise it wouldn't even recognize it (Right?). Is there any other software solution I can try? Recovering my files is not a concern.

  • harddrive problem (usb external)

    Hey guys I am using a Maxtor One Touch 3 given to my by my uncle. It is connected through USB2.0 When I plug it in, XP installs it and says "the device is ready to use". But it dosnt show up on my computer. It dosn't even show up in disk mangement. I then install Acronis Disk Director (which detects it) but marks it as offline. if i try to change it to online, nothing happens. (actually the lights on the HD blink - meaning communication and goes back into offline mode). The lights on the HD return to a solid which mean "working properly".     I have IIS7 on my computer, and I can access it through other computers in my house on the same network through my computer's IP address - 192.168.1.10x Instead of typing in http : //192.168.1.10x/ I want to be able to go to http : //somename/ I know you can change the hosts file to add it but I'd have to do that on each computer and I'd still have to type in the IP to access it from my iPod/Wii... etc.

  • Establish direct cable connection between Windows 8 PCs in home network

    I'm running two PCs, a desktop and a laptop with Windows 8 Release Preview ("Build 8400"). They are connected to the same router in infrastructure mode, thereby having wireless internet. Due to often file synchronization between the machines I want to establish a cable connection that allows direct file transfer, without needing to use the wireless. When I plug in the cable (normal, not cross-over), I see in "Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections": "Ethernet - unidentified Network" on both PCs. Transferring a file between both still only uses the WiFi via the Router. I noticed that when turning off the wifi on one PC, I can set up a shared internet connection that will work via Ethernet-cable, but since sometimes only one PC runs, sometimes the other one, I do not want to have the internet of one machine to be dependent on the other one being switched on. I do not have a crossover-cable, but since I did connect the PCs already successfully (just without both being on the internet), I'm sure that this should also work with a normal ethernet cable.

I can't see my files or even the capacity of my disk from it's properties. Is there any solution you would suggest? looking for a software that can give me access to my files.
