  • How to let mod_wsgi only handle certain URLs under Apache?

    I have a Django app that handles "/admin/" and "/myapp/". All the other requests should be handled by Apache. I've tried using LocationMatch but then I'd have to write a negative regex. I've tried WSGIScriptAlias with the /admin/ prefix but then the wsgi_handler receives the request with the /admin/ part cut off. Is there a cleaner way to make mod_wsgi only handle certain requests?

  • iptables : how to correctly allow incoming and outgoing traffic for certain ports?

    Im trying to get incoming and outgoing traffic to be enabled on specific ports, because I block everything at the end of the iptables rules. INPUT and FORWARD reject. What would be the appropiate way to open certain ports for all traffic incoming and outgoing?   • How can I prevent firefox from using bitmap fonts at certain zoom levels?

    In firefox 3.6 on Ubuntu 9.10, certain sites seem to use bitmap fonts for any fixed-width fonts, but only at specific zoom levels. This site and other stackexchange sites are among the affected sites, and of course the default zoom level is affected. At unaffected zoom levels, I get the expected smooth curvy fonts. How can I make firefox use the nice curvy smooth fonts at all zoom levels?

    We are using the basic Verizon router but it sucks so we're looking for a new one that allows us to limit users and our hadoop cluster to certain limits. Our problem is one person can start downloading something and kill the network and every hour we download logs into our cluster but it floods the network unless we rate limit it. Ideally we want to be able to say: total: 35 mbps Hadoop Cluster (15 mbps) Phones (1 mbps) Office(25 people) (19mbps but no one machine can have more than 5mbps)

    I use Gmail with Thunderbird, which is working great, except for the part where I get a new email. It shows me the new email twice when notifying because it appears in both the inbox and All Mail folders. I know I can just unsubscribe to the All Mail folder, but then I can't back it up like many people do with Thunderbird. How do I set Thunderbird to notify me of new emails in only certain folders?

  • How can I make it difficult to install a new operating system on a certain computer?

    I want to host a website on a desktop computer running Ubuntu with a Windows virtual machine. I will give away the computer in exchange for a number of months of remote web hosting. I want to add some kind of lock (hardware or otherwise) so that the end users will have difficulty just reinstalling Windows and using the machine as they want, in contradiction to the contract. Ideally, I'd want the machine to die if reinstallation of the OS is attempted. It doesn't have to be completely insurmountable, but it has to be difficult enough to prevent casual reinstallation. Perhaps on bootup the system can check whether certain files exist on the computer and refuse to boot if they do not. I don't know if this is possible, but maybe BIOS is password protected, and searches for files before boot up. The files it looks for could be date sensitive, i.e. require remote replacement on a schedule.

    I have IIS set up on my server, but also Apache x2 (other products which comes with their own servers, cannot be integrated into IIS.) Is it possible for me to "port-forward" certain domains on port 80 (that IIS handles) to those other ports? For instance: www.vkarlsen.no - IIS svn.vkarlsen.no - port 81 on same machine teamcity.vkarlsen.no - port 82 on same machine Or do I just need to set up those domains and redirect to the correct port? I'd like the domain name and url to be transparent to the user, but perhaps that won't work. Can anyone shed some light on this?

  • rsync - Exclude files that are over a certain size?

    I am doing a backup of my desktop to a remote machine. I'm basically doing rsync -a ~ example.com:backup/ However there are loads of large files, e.g. wikipedia dumps etc. Most of the files I care a lot about a small, such as firefox cookie files, or .bashrc. Is there some invocation to rsync that will exclude files that are over a certain size? That way I could copy all files that are less than 10MB first, then do all files. That way I can do a fast backup of the most important files, then a longer backup of everything else.

    Ok so I do some stuff for a client of ours that requires me to decrypt some of their suppliers messages, the thing is, something weird happened the other day and I can only decrypt some files with an old decryption script, but for certain files I get the error: "Message is encrypted. Cannot decrypt message. It can only be decrypted by: 2048 bits, Key ID 98627E12, Created 2000-03-02 "Other Guy "" as you can see, the key is ancient and I was still 9years old when it was created, so I have know idea who this "Other Guy" is. . .and I can't understand why I'm able to decrypt some of the supplier's files with the decryption script, but for others it fails. PS: the supplier only uses one public key, so this should work for all the files, any advice?

    I have a Virtual Private Server which I can connect to using SSH with my root account, being able to execute any linux command and access all the disk area, obviously. I would like to create another user account, which would be able to access this server using SSH too, but only to a certain directory, for example /var/www/example.com/ For example, imagine this user has a HUGE error.log file (500 MB) located in /var/www/example.com/logs/error.log When accessing this file using FTP, this user needs to download 500 MB to view the last lines of the log, but I'd like him to be able to execute something like this: tail error.log Therefore I need him to be able to access the server using SSH, but I don't want to grant him access to all server areas. How can I do this?

    All, I have an SMS gateway application running on my server that passes incoming SMS messages to a php script. That script writes the data to a text file. Certain aspects of the message can be extracted as variables - for example: Message content: $msgdata Sender: $originator Time: $receivedtime etc... Using the script below I can easily write the message to a text file but it will write the data of every SMS that comes in.     What entries in a web.config could allow certain files to become publicly accessible after a certain date and time? Specifically, we have these files starting with AB_.jpg where the _ could be anything. We put them in a folder on April 27th for example, but they shouldn't be accessible until April 30th at 11:59:59 PM. I think the web.config in part works like Unix's FTP .htaccess file to define file security.   • MySQL takes forever after running certain php scripts... optimization help?

    When I run a couple scripts from the vBulletin software (like uninstalling a plugin) it takes forever. When monitoring the memory usage, it shows this = -/+ buffers/cache: 158 381 Swap: 255 10 245 It seems that MySQL is only using a certain amount and once it does it tries to use the swap instead? I have a 512MB slice and right now my key buffer is at 16M and max_allowed_packet is at 16M. Is there something else I should increase or can I increase those variables and still be safe? Thanks.

    One of our clients asked us to configure Exchange 2010 to retain outgoing mail for a certain amount of time (independant of Outlook settings.) The idea is that an administrator has about 10 minutes to take a message out of a queue before it is sent out the organization. I know this can be configured in Outlook, but this is not a valiable solution for us. I'm also aware that this causes queues to fill up, this is part of the consideration. Is there a way in Exchange 2010 to configure this?

    Can anyone recommend a utility that can scan specified directory locations (network shares specifically) and return all files older than a certain date? I am looking to implement a data retention policy at my workplace. As our amount of data grows it puts a large strain on our backup routines. I would like to move old data to some sort of archival system.
