  • Changing output of Forms with Struts+Freemarker

    - by Chris
I'm working on a Website with Struts2 and Freemarker. Whenever I add form tags such as: <@s.form action="foo" <@s.combobox (...)/ It generates a bunch of html/css/javascript that I don't need. Is there any way I can specify that no extra elements should be generated or do I really need to go into Freemarker.jar and edit the templates to my liking?

  • Detect changes to user input controls in Silverlight?

    - by code
I have a childwindow with a number of Textboxes, Comboboxes, and DatePickers. I want to know if a user has changed any value in these (to know if I need to save to db) One way I could think of doing this are in the 'on chg' event handlers and set bool. But if a user changes the value, in say a combobox, then changes back to the original this would still be seen as a change. Are there other alternatives? (note the project is not set up as MVVM) Thanks

  • How Do you Declare a Dependancy Property in VB.Net 3.0

    - by discwiz
My company is stuck on .Net 3.0. The task I am trying to tackle is simple, I need to bind the IsChecked property of the CheckBoxResolvesCEDAR to the CompletesCEDARWork in my Audio class. The more I read about this it appears that I have to declare CompletesCEDARWork as dependancy propert, but I can not find a good example of how this is done. I found this example, but when I pasted into my code I get an "is not defined" error for GetValue and I have not successfully figure out what MyCode is supposed to represent. Any help/examples would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Public Shared ReadOnly IsSpinningProperty As DependencyProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("IsSpinning", GetType(Boolean), GetType(MyCode)) Public Property IsSpinning() As Boolean Get Return CBool(GetValue(IsSpinningProperty)) End Get Set(ByVal value As Boolean) SetValue(IsSpinningProperty, value) End Set End Property Here is my slimed down Audio Class as it stands now. Imports System.Xml Imports System Imports System.IO Imports System.Collections.ObjectModel Imports System.ComponentModel Public Class Audio Private mXMLString As String Private mTarpID As Integer Private mStartTime As Date Private mEndTime As Date Private mAudioArray As Byte() Private mFileXMLInfo As IO.FileInfo Private mFileXMLStream As IO.FileStream Private mFileAudioInfo As IO.FileInfo Private mDisplayText As String Private mCompletesCEDARWork As Boolean Private Property CompletesCEDARWork() As Boolean Get Return mCompletesCEDARWork End Get Set(ByVal value As Boolean) mCompletesCEDARWork = value End Set End Property And here is my XML Datatemplate where I set the binding. <DataTemplate x:Key="UploadLayout" DataType="Audio"> <Border BorderBrush="LightGray" CornerRadius="8" BorderThickness="1" Padding="10" Margin="0,3,0,0"> <StackPanel Orientation="Vertical"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=DisplayText}"> </TextBlock> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" VerticalAlignment="Center"> <TextBlock Text="TARP ID" VerticalAlignment="Center"/> <ComboBox x:Name="ListBoxTarpIDs" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=TarpIds}" SelectedValue="{Binding Path=TarpID}" BorderBrush="Transparent" Background="Transparent" > </ComboBox> </StackPanel> <CheckBox x:Name="CheckBoxResolvesCEDAR" Content="Resolves CEDAR Work" IsChecked="{Binding ElementName=Audio,Path=CompletesCEDARWork,Mode=TwoWay}"/> </StackPanel> </Border> </DataTemplate>

  • how to save class object in registry?

    - by younevertell
Basically I have some class objects, each with three properties. Once one class object is selected in the ComboBox, the corresponding properties shows on three textboxs. I am trying to add one save button. I can change the value of the properties. Once the save button is clicked, all the class ojects with three corresponding properties are saved in the registry. Save setting for later use It seems Registing tryKey.SetValue Method can not save an object directly?

  • How do I use a DataGrid to display the contents of a MDB

    - by orangecl4now
I'm relatively new to .Net 4 and I am creating my FIRST WPF application using a MDB as a backend datasource. I designed my UI. I have a TextField (called Name), a Combobox (called Division) and a DataGrid (called dataGrid1). The only problem I'm having is figuring out how to link my DataGrid to display data from the DataSource. and load the data in the Windows1_Loaded method. Thanks

  • Different Assembly Name for Each Platform Target

    - by Murray
I need to generate different assembly names depending on the platform target. For example, I have a console application "bob.exe". Instead of building for AnyCPU, I need to build explicitly for x86 and x64 and thus want "bob32.exe" and "bob64.exe". The Application tab in Visual Studio 2010 project options disables the Platform combobox. Build Events also don't allow options per platform so I can't rename it afterwards very easily.

  • Software development stack 2012

A couple of months ago, I posted on Google+ about my evaluation period for a new software development stack in general. "Analysing existing 'jungle' of multiple applications and tools in various languages for clarification and future design decisions. Great fun and lots of headaches... #DevelopersLife" Surprisingly, there was response... ;-) - And this series of articles is initiated by this post. Thanks Olaf. The past few years... Well, after all my first choice of software development in the past was Microsoft Visual FoxPro 6.0 - 9.0 in combination with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 2008 and Crystal Reports 9.x - XI. Honestly, it is my main working environment due to exisiting maintenance and support plans with my customers, but also for new project requests. And... hands on, it is still my first choice for data manipulation and migration options. But the earth is spinning, and as a software craftsman one has to be flexible with the choice of tools. In parallel to my knowledge and expertise in the above mentioned tools, I already started very early to get my hands dirty with the Microsoft .NET Framework. If I remember correctly, I started back in 2002/2003 with the first version ever. But this was more out of curiousity. During the years this kind of development got more serious and demanding, and I focused myself on interop and integrational libraries and applications. Mainly, to expose exisitng features of the .NET Framework to Visual FoxPro - I even had a session about that at the German Developer's Conference in Frankfurt. Observation of recent developments With the recent hype on Javascript and HTML5, especially for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 development, I had several 'Deja vu' events... Back in early 2006 (roughly) I had a conversation on the future of Web and Desktop development with my former colleagues Golo Roden and Thomas Wilting about the underestimation of Javascript and its root as a prototype-based, dynamic, full-featured programming language. During this talk with them I took the Mozilla applications, namely Firefox and Thunderbird, as a reference which are mainly based on XML, CSS, Javascript and images - besides the core rendering engine. And that it is very simple to write your own extensions for the Gecko rendering engine. Looking at the Windows Vista Sidebar widgets, just underlines this kind of usage. So, yes the 'Modern UI' of Windows 8 based on HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript didn't come as any surprise to me. Just allow me to ask why did it take so long for Microsoft to come up with this step? A new set of tools Ok, coming from web development in HTML 4, CSS and Javascript prior to Visual FoxPro, I am partly going back to that combination of technologies. What is the other part of the software development stack here at IOS Indian Ocean Software Ltd? Frankly, it is easy and straight forward to describe: Microsoft Visual FoxPro 9.0 SP 2 - still going strong! Visual Studio 2012 (C# on latest .NET Framework) MonoDevelop Telerik DevCraft Suite WPF ASP.NET MVC Windows 8 Kendo UI OpenAccess ORM Reporting JustCode CODE Framework by EPS Software MonoTouch and Mono for Android Subversion and additional tools for the daily routine: Notepad++, JustCode, SQL Compare, DiffMerge, VMware, etc. Following the principles of Clean Code Developer and the Agile Manifesto Actually, nothing special about this combination but rather a solid fundament to work with and create line of business applications for customers.Honestly, I am really interested in your choice of 'weapons' for software development, and hopefully there might be some nice conversations in the comment section. Over the next coming days/weeks I'm going to describe a little bit more in detail about the reasons for my decision. Articles will be added bit by bit here as reference, too. Please bear with me... Regards, JoKi

  • SQL Authority News – FalafelCON 2014: 2 days with the Best Developers in the World

    - by Pinal Dave
I love presenting at various forums on various technologies. I am extremely excited that I got invited to speak at Falafel Conference 2014 in San Francisco. I will present two technology sessions on SQL Server. If you are into web development or if you just want to attend a conference with the best of the industry speakers, this may be the right conference for you. What set apart this conference from other conference is technology presented as well as speakers. Usually one has to attend very expensive and high scale event when they have to hear good speakers. At this conference, you will find quite a many industry legends are available to present on the bleeding edge technology. Here are few of the reasons why I believe you should attend this conference: Choose from four tracks covering Web, Mobile development and testing, Sitefinity, and Automated Testing, or attend sessions from all four! Learn from the best developers and testers in the business in an intimate setting. Surround yourself with your peers and the opportunity to network Learn about the latest platforms and technologies including Kendo UI, AngularJS, ASP.NET MVC, WebAPI, and more! Here are the details for the sessions which I am going to present at Falafel Conference. Secrets of SQL Server: Database Worst Practices Abstract: Chances are you have heard, or even uttered, this expression. This demo-oriented session will show many examples where database professionals were dumbfounded by their own mistakes, and could even bring back memories of your own early DBA days. The goal of this session is to expose the small details that can be dangerous to the production environment and SQL Server as a whole, as well as talk about worst practices and how to avoid them. Shedding light on some of these perils and the tricks to avoid them may even save your current job. After attending this session, Developers will only need 60 seconds to improve performance of their database server in their SharePoint implementation. We will have a quiz during the session to keep the conversation alive. Developers will walk out with scripts and knowledge that can be applied to their servers, immediately post the session. Additionally, all attendees of the session will have access to learning material presented in the session. The Unsung Hero Abstract: Slow Running Queries are the most common problem that developers face while working with SQL Server. While it is easy to blame the SQL Server for unsatisfactory performance, however the issue often persists with the way queries have been written, and how Indexes has been set up. The session will focus on the ways of identifying problems that slow down SQL Server, and Indexing tricks to fix them. Developers will walk out with scripts and knowledge that can be applied to their servers, immediately post the session. Register Now! I have learned from the Falafel Team that they are running out of tickets and soon they will close the registration.  For next 10 days the price for the registration is only USD 149. Trust me, you can’t get such a world class training and networking opportunity at such a low price. Click to Register Here! • XamDataGrid Binding problem

    I want to bind a cell of a XamDataGrid using ComboBox control through a collection's(CurrentEntity.INVTransactions) property(BatchList) but it does not work. I'm using mvvm pattern.In my code "BatchId" and "BatchList" are the properties of CurrentEntity.INVTransactions collection. would you please tell me why the comboBox of the xamDataGrid doesn't display the BatchList? sample code: <UserControl x:Class="PDCL.ERP.Modules.Inventory.Views.RequisitionList.RequisitionInfoUserControl" ...> <GroupBox Grid.Column="0" Grid.Row="1" Grid.ColumnSpan="2" Header="Details" VerticalAlignment="Top" Margin="5,0,5,0"> <Grid> <igDP:XamDataGrid Margin="2" DataSource="{Binding CurrentEntity.INVTransactions}" x:Name="requisitionDeailsGrid" InitializeRecord="requisitionDeailsGrid_InitializeRecord"> <igDP:XamDataGrid.FieldLayoutSettings> <igDP:FieldLayoutSettings HighlightAlternateRecords="True" AutoGenerateFields="False" AllowAddNew="True" AddNewRecordLocation="OnBottom" AutoFitMode="Always" SupportDataErrorInfo="RecordsAndCells" DataErrorDisplayMode="ErrorIcon" /> </igDP:XamDataGrid.FieldLayoutSettings> <igDP:XamDataGrid.FieldLayouts> <igDP:FieldLayout> <igDP:FieldLayout.Fields> <igDP:Field Name="Remarks" Label="Remarks" Width="Auto"> <igDP:Field.Settings> <igDP:FieldSettings AllowEdit="True" AllowResize="True"/> </igDP:Field.Settings> </igDP:Field> <igDP:Field Name="BatchId" Label="Batch" Width="Auto"> <igDP:Field.Settings> <igDP:FieldSettings EditorType="{x:Type igEditors:XamComboEditor}"> <igDP:FieldSettings.EditorStyle> <Style TargetType="{x:Type igEditors:XamComboEditor}"> <Setter Property="ItemsSource" Value="{Binding INVTransactions.BatchList, RelativeSource = {RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type igDP:XamDataGrid}, AncestorLevel=1}}" /> <Setter Property="DisplayMemberPath" Value="BatchName" /> <Setter Property="ValuePath" Value="BatchId" /> </Style> </igDP:FieldSettings.EditorStyle> </igDP:FieldSettings> </igDP:Field.Settings> </igDP:Field> <igDP:Field Name="Qty" Label="Qty Supplied" Width="Auto"> <igDP:Field.Settings> <igDP:FieldSettings AllowEdit="True" AllowResize="True"/> </igDP:Field.Settings> </igDP:Field> </igDP:FieldLayout.Fields> </igDP:FieldLayout> </igDP:XamDataGrid.FieldLayouts> </igDP:XamDataGrid> </Grid> </GroupBox> </UserControl> The output window shows the error "BindingExpression path error: 'INVTransactions' property not found on 'object' ''XamDataGrid' (Name='requisitionDeailsGrid')'. • Add collection or array to wpf resource dictionary

    - by Chris Cap
I've search high and low and can't find an answer to this. I have two questions How do you create an array or collection in XAML. I've got an array I want to stick in there and bind to a combo box. My first idea was to put an ItemsControl in a resource dictionary, but the ItemsSource of a combo box expects IEnumerable so that didn't work. Here's what I've tried in my resource dictionary and neither works <ItemsControl x:Key="stateList"> <sys:String>AL</sys:String> <sys:String>CA</sys:String> <sys:String>CN</sys:String> </ItemsControl> <ItemsControl x:Key="stateList2"> <ComboBoxItem>AL</ComboBoxItem> <ComboBoxItem>CA</ComboBoxItem> <ComboBoxItem>CN</ComboBoxItem> </ItemsControl> and here's how I bind to it <ComboBox SelectedValue="{Binding Path=State}" ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource stateList2}}" > </ComboBox> EDIT: UPDATED I got this first part to work this way <col:ArrayList x:Key="stateList3"> <sys:String>AL</sys:String> <sys:String>CA</sys:String> <sys:String>CN</sys:String> </col:ArrayList> However, I'd rather not use an array list, I'd like to use a generic list so if anyone knows how please let me know. EDIT UPDATE: I guess XAML has very limited support for generics so maybe an array list is the best I can do for now, but I would still like help on the second question if anyone has an anser 2nd. I've tried referencing a merged resource dictionary in my XAML and had problems because under Window.resources I had more than just the dictionary so it required me to add x:Key. Once I add the key, the system can no longer find the items in my resource dictionary. I had to move the merged dictionary to Grid.Resources instead. Ideally I'd like to reference the merged dictionary in the app.xaml but I have the same problem Here's some sample code. This first part required an x:key to compile because I have converter and it complained that every item must have a key if there is more than one <UserControl.Resources> <win:BooleanToVisibilityConverter x:Key="VisibilityConverter" /> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="/ResourcesD.xaml" /> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </UserControl.Resources> I had to change it to this <UI:BaseStep.Resources> <win:BooleanToVisibilityConverter x:Key="VisibilityConverter" /> </UI:BaseStep.Resources> <Grid> <Grid.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="/ResourcesD.xaml" /> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </Grid.Resources> </Grid> Thank you

  • Preventing multiple repeat selection of synchronized Controls ?

    - by BillW
The working code sample here synchronizes (single) selection in a TreeView, ListView, and ComboBox via the use of lambda expressions in a dictionary where the Key in the dictionary is a Control, and the Value of each Key is an Action<int. Where I am stuck is that I am getting multiple repetitions of execution of the code that sets the selection in the various controls in a way that's unexpected : it's not recursing : there's no StackOverFlow error happening; but, I would like to figure out why the current strategy for preventing multiple selection of the same controls is not working. Perhaps the real problem here is distinguishing between a selection update triggered by the end-user and a selection update triggered by the code that synchronizes the other controls ? Note: I've been experimenting with using Delegates, and forms of Delegates like Action<T>, to insert executable code in Dictionaries : I "learn best" by posing programming "challenges" to myself, and implementing them, as well as studying, at the same time, the "golden words" of luminaries like Skeet, McDonald, Liberty, Troelsen, Sells, Richter. Note: Appended to this question/code, for "deep background," is a statement of how I used to do things in pre C#3.0 days where it seemed like I did need to use explicit measures to prevent recursion when synchronizing selection. Code : Assume a WinForms standard TreeView, ListView, ComboBox, all with the same identical set of entries (i.e., the TreeView has only root nodes; the ListView, in Details View, has one Column). private Dictionary<Control, Action<int>> ControlToAction = new Dictionary<Control, Action<int>>(); private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { // add the Controls to be synchronized to the Dictionary // with appropriate Action<int> lambda expressions ControlToAction.Add(treeView1, (i => { treeView1.SelectedNode = treeView1.Nodes[i]; })); ControlToAction.Add(listView1, (i => { listView1.Items[i].Selected = true; })); ControlToAction.Add(comboBox1, (i => { comboBox1.SelectedIndex = i; })); } private void synchronizeSelection(int i, Control currentControl) { foreach(Control theControl in ControlToAction.Keys) { // skip the 'current control' if (theControl == currentControl) continue; // for debugging only Console.WriteLine(theControl.Name + " synchronized"); // execute the Action<int> associated with the Control ControlToAction[theControl](i); } } private void treeView1_AfterSelect(object sender, TreeViewEventArgs e) { synchronizeSelection(e.Node.Index, treeView1); } private void listView1_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { // weed out ListView SelectedIndexChanged firing // with SelectedIndices having a Count of #0 if (listView1.SelectedIndices.Count > 0) { synchronizeSelection(listView1.SelectedIndices[0], listView1); } } private void comboBox1_SelectedValueChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (comboBox1.SelectedIndex > -1) { synchronizeSelection(comboBox1.SelectedIndex, comboBox1); } } background : pre C# 3.0 Seems like, back in pre C# 3.0 days, I was always using a boolean flag to prevent recursion when multiple controls were updated. For example, I'd typically have code like this for synchronizing a TreeView and ListView : assuming each Item in the ListView was synchronized with a root-level node of the TreeView via a common index : // assume ListView is in 'Details View,' has a single column, // MultiSelect = false // FullRowSelect = true // HideSelection = false; // assume TreeView // HideSelection = false // FullRowSelect = true // form scoped variable private bool dontRecurse = false; private void treeView1_AfterSelect(object sender, TreeViewEventArgs e) { if(dontRecurse) return; dontRecurse = true; listView1.Items[e.Node.Index].Selected = true; dontRecurse = false; } private void listView1_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { if(dontRecurse) return // weed out ListView SelectedIndexChanged firing // with SelectedIndices having a Count of #0 if (listView1.SelectedIndices.Count > 0) { dontRecurse = true; treeView1.SelectedNode = treeView1.Nodes[listView1.SelectedIndices[0]]; dontRecurse = false; } } Then it seems, somewhere around FrameWork 3~3.5, I could get rid of the code to suppress recursion, and there was was no recursion (at least not when synchronizing a TreeView and a ListView). By that time it had become a "habit" to use a boolean flag to prevent recursion, and that may have had to do with using a certain third party control.

  • SqlDataAdapter Update is not working in C# wih Sql Server

    - by Ahmed
I am trying to save data from C# form to Sql server Northwind Orders database, I am only using CustomerID, OrderDate and ShippedDate for data entry. Any help with the code is highly appreciated... Thanks Ahmed
