• How do make vb.net web application compatible with all latest browsers ??

  How do i make my vb.net application (running on intranet) compatible with all the browsers. The problem is all the text boxes and drop downs size varies when I browse the application in different browsers. For example when I browse in Chrome all the drop downs size changes and textbox becomes small.In IE8 all the dropdowns , comboboxes and the size of the grids gets changed. The combobox in firefox and IE 7 or later gets small in size.Is there any solution for this. And also I would like to add , the application works perfectly with IE6 only.

  I have an accounting & payroll client/server application where there are several input form with complex data validation rules. I am finding an effective way to perform unit testing of user interface. For complex validation rules I mean: "Disable button X if I Insert a value in textfield Y" "Enable a combobox if I insert a value in a textfield" ...... ...... Most promising pattern i have found is suggested by M. Fowler (http://martinfowler.com/eaaDev/ModelViewPresenter.html). Have you any experience about Unit Testing of User Interface? As technology stack I am using: .NET 3.5 & Windows Forms Widget Library.

• Get command object

  Hi all, I am writing a spring 2.5 application and in my jsp I'm writing my own tags. It's about a list of objects...when I change the number of rows that list shows(a combobox), I am doing a submit on my form returning back to the view(obviosly with the new number of rows returned). When listing with my own tags I need to get the properties from my command object. I have access to the pageContext object but I can't figure where the command object is stored. • WPF combo box, adding an all options item, when binding to an Observable Collection

  So I've got an object that has an observable collection. Most places I bind to this collection I only want the user to select a single item. But in one place I want the combobox to include an all items option. Is the way to do this simply with xaml converter? It seems like doing it in the view model would be a good idea, but it's really a lot dependency object goop to basically wire up an collection that is two objects deep for an on change event, where as the xaml converter just works. But I always feel like xaml converters should be generic and reusable, where in this instance, the xaml converter would be more of a one off. Of course the third option would be to create one off list for UI in the object that contains the standard observable collection. But this seems to be mixing the logic and presentation in a way that makes me uncomfortable.

  I would like to have a very short / minimal example of how to create some tabular widget with different types of item in it. In the first round let's say I'd like to render [["Hello", 12, True], ["World", 13, False]] (Hello as string, 12 as number (right-align), True as a checkbox for eg.), but it would be nice to have Dates, Colors, and other type of info. Next round: editing (integer with spinbox, maybe sometimes a combobox is handy, but that may not work out of the box). There must be a simple solution, but I couldn't find...

• Using condionals in Linq Programatically

  I was just reading a recent question on using conditionals in Linq and it reminded me of an issue I have not been able to resolve. When building Linq to SQL queries programatically how can this be done when the number of conditionals is not known until runtime? For instance in the code below the first clause creates an IQueryable that, if executed, would select all the tasks (called issues) in the database, the 2nd clause will refine that to just issues assigned to one department if one has been selected in a combobox (Which has it's selected item bound to the departmentToShow property). How could I do this using the selectedItems collection instead?   Hello everyone, This is what im working on: i have two lists, first one: collumn user and collumn project that the user is assigend to. second one (library): a list of all the projects I was wondering, how, by every row that is created in the first list (so adding a user and a project) it is possible to grant the user permissions on this project's reference in the second library (the projects library). Example: ProjectLibrary: Project1 Project2 Project3 the first list: user1 project1 user1 project2 user2 project2 user2 project3 user3 project3 now i want to give each user permission to see the project he's assigned to so that when he opens a third form, a combobox filled with projects will only show the projects he has permissions on. thank you so much!

Can anyone please tell me, How to get the HWND of a buttons/combobox/etc (not normal buttons in a window) if I know (only) the Id of it ? How to obtain the HBITMAP if I know the id of the resource ? How to set the bitmap to the controller ? SendDlgItemMessageW(hWnd, nId, BM_SETIMAGE, IMAGE_BITMAP, (LPARAM)hBitmap); This isn't working for toolbars, isn't it ? Is there a solution to use this code as a color changer?

  I'm about to change my application to include tool tips for all buttons, combo boxes, etc. I was wondering if there are any recommendations on doing this. For every control I'd like the tooltip to show the control's name in bold, followed by the description. I want to keep the style separated from the control, so I can change the tooltip style globally. What I would like to have, unless there's a better suggestion, is two additional fields per button/combobox/etc: 1-ToolTipName and 2-ToolTipDesc, both containing a string. How can I accomplish this (and is it even possible?).

• To change checkbox text or to not change?

  Hi, I'm having an argument with a co-worker, and I'm trying to convince him that it's a bad idea to change checkbox text (label) according to the checkbox state. For example, we have a combobox that automatically picks selected value (and is disabled) when checkbox next to it is checked and is enabled when checkbox is cleared. His idea is to show Autoselect when checkbox is checked and Manual select when it's cleared. I'm sure that this will confuse the user as users tend to think that checking a checkbox next to a verb will make it true, only to find that the label has changed to something else. What is your opinion on this matter? P.S. I remember reading about changing checkbox text somewhere, in a book or blog article, but can't remember where. It would be great to have this in writing :-)

All the choices should be unique, so once the option is selected in one combobox, it should be removed from others. Depending on the object I may need some columns with DropDownLists or TextFields (but not all rows) As I don't know the number or columns, they have to be dynamic. I found this solution: TemplateField t = new TemplateField(); t.HeaderTemplate = new GridViewTemplate("header", "title"); t.ItemTemplate = new GridViewTemplate("combobox", "val"); GridView1.Columns.Add(t); GridView1.DataSource = ds; GridView1.DataBind(); Where GridViewTemplate extends ITemplate. This didn't work for me, it fills all rows of a column and I had no way to control witch DropDownList and TextFields need to be created (object info). All the DropDownLists need to have an ID also only known by the object. There are some way I can do this?

  Hi! I'm using winforms. I spend a lot of time drawing forms (maybe not a lot, but it is a boring task). To sum up... I want to develop a simple aplication that connect to a sql server database, let the user to select a table, and put the controls in a form for me (generate the designer code), based on the tipe of each column. Then my app will name each control like the column of the table, set the maxlengh property (if the type is varchar), and create a label with the same text near the control. If the column is a FK, then the app will draw a combobox and so on. I saw that Telerik Open ORM make something like this, but I only need a simple app for the IU Generation. If the same day I finish my little application I discover a tool that make the same... I will feel myself stupid :D Are there any tool out there that do this work for me? Thanks

I have a datagrid view and a display button. when i click on this button, the system must prompt me to enter the server name and after typing the server name, it should display all the databases related to that server in some combo box. and again if i select a database it should show all the tables present in that database into a combobox. and if i select a table, it should prompt an option to select only required columns into the datagridview. • How to test Language DLLs?

  Our application offer the user to display different languages if they have the approppriate Language DLL (say German.DLL, French.DLL, even Chinese.DLL). We have functional test to verify that those DLLs enable the right options in a Combobox and that choosing them will actually translate strings in the UI. I would like to know options to test this translation dll's more in depth, maybe ensuring that all the characters in the selected langauge (and in the file) can be correctly displayed, or that the internal structure of the DLL is consistent, there are no strings exceeding the limits that are expected of them, etc... Any suggestions on what to test and how to test it? Does anyone know specific problems that may arise and we should check? Thanks in advance.
