  • Display current layout WITHOUT using Windows's language bar

    Basically I love quick launch and pinning is not for me, I can't just pin 50 apps, nor pin them to start menu / use the win + type method. Anyway, Quick Launch works perfectly under Win7 IF you don't use the language bar. If you use it, sometimes (or always) it may fail to start/appear, you have to readd it. So my question is: Is there a tray app, a RainMeter way to show this? (First would be better). Thanks. (Best would be if I could switch layout globally but that train is gone. (Look at the changing global layout. Thank you Microsoft. (Irony included)).

  • ATI Catalyst setting to stretch Windows XP start bar across both displays

    I have a Lenovo T400 laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series video card, using the ATI Catalyst Control Center to span my Windows XP display over the laptop display and a Dell flatpanel LCD. This works fine, but I'm used to NVIDIA multi-desktop that let me control the "Start bar" to either exist on only 1 screen... be duplicated on both, or (what I want), stretched across both. Is this possible with the ATI card/Catalyst Software? If not, are there any utilities out there that will handle this for me?   • Accessing shared resource on local computer from users of different physical location

    Sounds like easy task to some but such a difficult task for me to do... The main requirement for this task is to setup something in offices located on different locations, so (1st question) users are able to log on to the domain without VPN when they are in one of the offices. Additionally, (2nd question)how they can log on to the domain server when they are on the road like in a starbuck, what do they have to do to connect to domain after VPN connection are successful. also it's my understanding that, we can't share resource from computers on different network segments, (3rd question)what is the best solution to bridge/combine two network segments(two office in different locations) so computers of different location can see each other.     How to emulate the Firefox (I'm using v3.6) address bar search redirection in Google Chrome? For example, if I type... imdb moon ...to the address bar and press Return in Firefox then it redirects me straight to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1182345/ (and I've not visited the page before) When I try this is Chrome then I just get the google search page http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=imdb+moon So seems like Firefox redirects automatically to the highest ranking search result URL - is there a setting or add-on for Chrome to achieve the same behaviour?

  • Language bar switched input types on me.

    I learned Japanese, but I'm not native to Japan, so I never had a Japanese keyboard. I used to use the language bar to go back and forth between English and Japanese, simply typing the words in romaji and having windows convert it into either hiragana, katakana and sometimes Kanji. Suddenly, my input type changes. I am no longer able to simply type in English, it changed my keyboard into a native Japanese keyboard, and what's worse it doesn't even allow me to write in hiragana, which I would need way more than katakana. Can anyone tell me how to restore it to the old setting where I simply chose what the output dialect would be, and typed the words phonetically in english and have it translate the sounds for me into japanese characters?

  • Firefox location bar search: odd behaviour with Comodo firewall

    I recently installed Comodo firewall, and it changed the behaviour of my Firefox location bar. I used to type something there and it either redirected me to a google search page or it actually redirected me to the site I wanted at once: If I typed 'imdb cloud atlas' it would redirect me to IMDB's page on Cloud Atlas, and the same would happen if I typed 'wiki' or 'wikipedia', redirecting me to Wikipedia's page on it. Now, it redirects me here. I checked this page and everything is according to what they describe, yet it doesn't seem to act the way it should. And there are no Comodo add-ons or extensions installed on Firefox. Can anyone help me?

  • Change google search location beyond current country

    I often work remotely and prefer using en-us locale settings for my searches. One of our computers is located in Germany, and whenever I try to change the location in Google Search Settings, I get an answer to "Pleas enter a valid Deutschland city or zip code". I checked this post, but it doesn't apply, as my language settings en-us and the Google search language is also set to English. It clearly uses the IP address of the computer. I couldn't find an answer in the Google help pages, anyone any idea how to change it London, New-York or Amsterdam?

  • How do I change the .bash_history file location?

    I'm running CentOS 6.x and want to move the .bash_history to a different location. The home directories of my users are (because I run a VPS) in /var/www/vhost/<domain>.<tld> which is FTP accessible (and it should be). Because of this, I have changed the AuthorizedKeysFile for SSH connections out of the normal ~/.ssh/authorized_keys since FTP connections would easily be able to locate them. At the same time I want to move the .bash_history file to /home/%u/.bash_history where %u is the current user.

  • Windows 7 changes desktop icon location when switching from External Monitor to Internal Monitor (laptop)

    I have a Windows 7 Laptop, and lately its been acting really weird with my 1080p Monitor. When I get home from school, Ill plug my screen in, and close my laptop lid (which makes the laptop treat the Monitor as the primary and only screen). However it will move my desktop icons! This also happens when I remove / unplug the screen, as shown in the pictures. I hate this, as Im the kinda person who's use to every icon being in a set spot, and so am use to their location. Its a massive hassle to try and move the icons back to their original spot. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks P.S it could be due to the resolution of the screen's being different, but this never happened before in the past Icons on External Moniter (after having moved them manually back into place): Icons after unplugging external monitor (and so using Laptop screen):

  • After upgrade to Windows 8.1, no Skydrive icon in task bar

    I upgraded to 8.1 and now I don't see the SkyDrive icon in the task bar, nor the green light under it indicating the my computer is communicating with SkyDrive. When I go into Control Panel |..|Notification Area Icons, SkyDrive is listed and noted as Up to date. However even though I mark it to Show Icons and Notifications I don't see any icon in the taskbar. Is it supposed to be this way, or do I have a problem? I kind of got used to that little green synchronizing indicator giving me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

  • Open file without specifying exact location

    Say I have a file in some obscure directory that I want to open and edit. I don't want to do something like this... vim ~/foo/bar/blah/doh/ugh.txt I'd rather be able to say find this file and open it. I know there are commands like locate and find to find a file or directory, but I'm not sure whether these can (or even should) be utilized in what I'm trying to do. Basically, what is the simplest way to open a file with a program w/o specifying its exact location? (In cases where there isn't another file with the same name in the entire system, and cases where there are multiple).

    ...I've suffered this problem many times and so do my colleagues Sometimes after you stroked some keyboard and mouse combinations this behavior showed up : you have to click a xterm's title bar to focus on that term so that you can input, instead of any places in that window. Whatever you do, minimize, resize don't help. This only thing you can do is logout that session but all the working history will be gone(of course I can save that but it's awkward) I'm eagerly wondering is there any solutions to this? I use ctrix XenApp plugin 11.0. The other platform info: Linux 2.6.9-67.ELsmp x86_64 OS: RedHat Enterprise Linux 4.0 U6 xterm:X.Org 6.8.2(192) THanks!

  • Network location is not on the Domain

    I have a computer joined to the domain, but it doesn't view the network "location" as being part of the domain. I have tried removing and rejoining the domain and this doesn't help: Other computers in the same network don't have this problem. I have also tried several different icons, including both the train and the airplane which doesn't seem to make a difference. At least using nslookup, the server seems to have connectivity with the DCs in the same site. There also seem to be some errors that suggest a NULL domain: Computer: OR-WEB05.ds.stackexchange.com Description: NtpClient was unable to set a domain peer to use as a time source because of failure in establishing a trust relationship between this computer and the '' domain in order to securely synchronize time. NtpClient will try again in 3473457 minutes and double the reattempt interval thereafter. The error was: The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed. (0x800706FD)

  • Firefox Address Bar Search Returns Web Server Running?

    When I type "trends" in Firefox 25.0 address bar, it returns what looks like a web server running on my PC, although I am not running a web server. I don't have the score to post the screen shot, but specifically it says: It works! This is the default web page for this server. The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet. Why would this display, instead of the normal behavior of the search engine? I'm using Windows 7 with the Anaconda Python distribution installed, but there is no Python interpreter fired up.

I have done this though button.attributes.add().[ this is without postback] But ...popup extender can blur the base page only after the postback.
