• How to validate a bunch of proxies against a URL?

  I have a list of 100 proxies. The URL I am interested in is abc.com. I want to check the number of proxies which can successfully fetch this URL and the time taken for the same. I am hoping I made sense. I am a Python noob. I am looking for a code snippet. • iPhone / Android: what protocol stacks do apps use for connecting to centralised services?

  Hi All, Aplogies for the ignorant question, I have no experience with app development on any mobile platform. Basically what I want to know is what communication protocols do apps typically use for accessing/querying centralised services? E.g if I port a webapp/service to iPhone/Andriod, typically how would I access/query this web service in my app? E.g is it over HTTP, or are there other protocols? Also, presumably the GUI of an app is constructed with Apple/Andriod GUI libraries (in java? cocoa?). Can an app GUI be defined with HTML/javascript like a webpage? • For anyone with free time: Trying to learn how to replace PHP with Python, failing terribly.

  I want give web development using Python a shot, but I'm failing hard. I don't even know if I CAN run Python. The webpage for my web host says it supports all kinds of stuff, including Python. I've never touched anything CGI related and this does not appear to be a noob friendly area. • Restoring a saved opengl ES buffer (i.e. writing it back to screen)

  I'm writing an iPhone app where I need to save and load the screen contents. I was able to save the screen using glReadPixels(), but since there's no glDrawPixels() in openGL ES, I'm having a lot of trouble restoring that buffer to the screen. I gather that I need to save the screen as a texture: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/708760/what-is-the-equivalent-of-gldrawpixels-in-opengl-es-1-1 But I'm not sure how to implement this. Does anyone have or know of any code samples that do this? I'm an openGL noob, so any help would be greatly appreciated :)

• iPhone CoreData Migration and modifying data

  I have an app that has both static data and user entered data in the CoreData store. I understand how to do a lightweight migration to a new database version, but how to I add or modify the static data without affecting the users data? If I have 50 static data entries to add and a couple to modify (ie. spelling mistakes) should they be stored in a different sqlite db and copied over? Also, is it possible to look at the version of the data store so that this copy only happens the first time the app is started up after upgrading?   How can i call a function form a variable. var upfunction = init; //or var upfunction = init(); I have tried the above code and it does not work. I want to be able to call that variable from a keypress and change the variables function. For example. function init(){ //Do whatever } function init2(){ //Do another thing } var upfunction = init(); if (Key.getCode() == Key.UP) { upfunction; } Then later doing upfunction = init2(); That way i could change the function without having much code. • Crypto++ AES Decrypt how to?

  There are next to no noob guides to crypto++ out there. Or none that I've found anyway. What I want to do is decrypt an array of uchars I generate with another AES encrypter. Where would I start? I have the library built and linking grand. Do I need to set anything up or do I just call a function on my array (and if so what function) ?   I am creating an application that highlights user messages from a stream based on whether or not the user has been 'vouched'. It works fine if it's setup for a single author.   Hi, at this page new customer, there is something that it doesn't like, my boss asked me to make a show function that shows the new customer registration when the user clicks on the "ny kunde" button. • Prevent auto scrolling when clicking tab anchor

  On my page I have some tabs that I've added some javascript so when they're clicked the page loads the tab's anchor URL instead of simply changing the view with AJAX, but I now want to stop the browser from auto scrolling to the anchor location. Having done some research, I'm pretty sure I just need to add a couple of lines so that when clicked it returns false or prevents default but, being a noob, I've no idea where to put them!?!   I am trying to implement what I used to take for granted in Winforms applications. I am a Silverlight noob, so hopefully all this is elementary. I have a listbox in a Silverlight 4 app. I'd like to do the following: Right-click on the listbox Have the item under the location where I click highlight itself I'd like a context menu to popup (with my own items in the context menu) From my research so far, it appears that there is no ContextMenu construct in Silverlight, instead we have to build up a Grid/Canvas structure and attach it to a Popup object, which is what is then popped up. My questions are as follows: To accomplish #2, I need some kind of hit test on the listbox. I can't figure out how to do that and my google-fu isn't helping. Once I do identify the index under the mouse, how do I actually select the item? Is there a reusable Context menu component somewhere that I can use? Extra credit if the component allows arbitrary sub-menus.

  I'm a person that learns best from example. Currently, I'm diving into the field of Web Development after fifteen years of developing desktop apps. I'm still getting used to all the web technologies used for developing modern web sites and everywhere I look, I see cool little UI elements and question how they're implemented. So I thought I'd ask you, the web experts...the wexperts :) What are some straight forward or creative ways you could code this grid-breaking arrow... The basic layout for this page looks like... • Deselecting an element in jQuery

  I have a collection of span elements. In the code I have a global variable that represents the "selected" object. Using the click event when a span is clicked I reset the object's class, reset the global variable, then set the object to the variable and change its class (to make it "highlighted"). I tried creating a click event on the body object, but that overrode the span click event so nothing was selected. I'm a complete jQuery noob and not sure where to go with this.

• MySQL Update Trigger with Conditions

  I have a PHP app that inserts 'Pass', 'Fail' or 'NA' into fields TEST1, TEST2, TEST3... through TEST15. I have a field called OVERALL that needs to be automatically updated with 'FAIL' if any of the TEST1-TEST15 fields contains 'Fail'. I'm pretty sure I need to use a trigger containing the update statement and either CASE or IF, but I haven't been able to nail down the exact syntax. Can anyone please help a MySQL noob?   I need some noob help... I have a String[] list (a list that each element is a Array of strings) I wish to remove all duplicates in the list. • use file or class for documenting classes in doxygen?

  Hi all, This surely is a noob question, but I can't find an answer in Doxygen documentation. I'm not sure whether using: @file or @class when documenting my header files. The reason is that if I put file, then all the comments appear in the Files tab only, but not in the Classes tab (per each). For cpp it's ok, I just use file and it's good, but if I use both file and class in the header (file at the beginning and class right before the start of the class declaration) then I get duplicated entries for the class in the generated documentation... What I'm doing wrong? Any suggestions? Ideas? Regards, Alex

• What language should I learn to make 2D turn-based video games?

  I want to make 2 dimensional turn-based games for the PC. Something like early Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger. Is C++ the only plausible option? I keep getting told that C++ is the language of choice for games, but is this the case even for 2D, turn-based games? Are any other languages good for this sort of thing? I'm really big on clean, readable, extendible code, so a language that fosters that sort of thing would be great. Doing this for fun, not business. Java is the only language I really know well right now. By the way, this is my first question and I'm a noob. I read the FAQ, but if I'm doing anything noobish anyway, then I'm sorry.

In this Thread(Mehtod) I´m using the Dispatcher to Refresh my Image in the ViewBox after the calculations are ready. When I´m dont put the calculation in a seperate Thread then I can refresh or build my Image. PS: Sry for my bad english
