    I gather SQL Server 2008 Express requires a minimum of 512MB RAM to be installed to run on Windows Server 2003, however will this be sufficient to also run Full Text Search on about 50,000 records? I don't want to pay too much and I have seen a 512MB RAM VPS option that interests me. Thanks

  • Tomcat memory usage

    I'm running tomcat on a ubuntu 10.4 VPS with 512MB of RAM (1024 burstable). I'm using it for development, so performance isn't an issue, but memory is. Tomcat is currently using about 250MB without any apps installed (I compared memory usage with tomcat stopped and running), and I also need to run lighttpd and mysql. Is there any way to get that number down? I don't need it to be able to handle a large number of requests at once.

    I was wondering if anyone does bulk adding of domains to your web hosting provider (Amazon, Linode, Rackspace, etc). I am thinking of creating a product that allows user to host their site on top of my web hosting and want something that can allow me to bulk add domains (and point DNS to my web hosting DNS) with as little manual work as possible.     I have a bad Internet connection, it disconnects frequently and on reconnect, I'm assigned a different IP address by the ISP. The problem is that I connect to a remote VPS (Ubuntu), and when Internet connection is disrupted n reconnected, I can no longer do anything on the terminal. I have to restart the terminal and re-initiate the connection. Is there a way I can have persistent connection with server.

    I'm trying to monitor the number of disk reads and writes on my VPS (Rackspace in this case) running Ubuntu 9.04. I realize there are many tools to do this, but when using dstat 0.7 I tried the following command: dstat -d The output is just two columns of zeroes even when I upload a large file via scp that should be causing a large number of disk writes. Why is this, and how do I get dstat to correctly display the number of disk reads and writes?

    I've been knocking my head out for a while on this one and have read many tutorials, but I just can't get this to work. Ajaxterm, is a webbased SSH client; once installed apt-get install ajaxterm and then enabling it with /etc/init.d/ajaxterm start I should be able to access the SSH terminal with http://mywebsite:8022/ But doing so only gives me a "Page not found", any suggestions?   • Postfix and google apps email limit

    I installed postfix on my ubuntu vps. The server is hosting mysite.com. I set the MX records for mysite.com to use google apps for email: ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM ... I am using php's mail() function, and emails are working. Google apps has a 500 email / day limit. Am I using this limit? I'm not sure what postfix is doing exactly. Thanks

Now my organization has implemented a proxy server, this is not allowing me to connect to the VPS server. I see the following error using the command root@<ip address>:-: ssh: connect to host <ip address> PORT 22: connection refused. Can anybody help me with this issue?
