  • Hosting MSMQ Integration Binding with WAS

    - by foosnazzy
Appears that WAS does not support the integration binding. I've tried setting it up by enabling the net.msmq protocol in WAS just to confirm it to no avail. Has anyone gotten this to work and if not, what are you using to host integration services? I'm leaning towards a Windows Service.

  • WCF Service error received when using TCP: "The message could not be dispatched..."

    - by StM
I am new to creating WCF services. I have created a WCF web service in VS2008 that is running on IIS 7. When I use http the service works perfectly. When I configure the service for TCP and run I get the following error message. There was a communication problem. The message could not be dispatched because the service at the endpoint address 'net:tcp://elec:9090/CoordinateIdTool_Tcp/IdToolService.svc is unavailable for the protocol of the address. I have searched a lot of forums, including this one, for a resolution but nothing has worked. Everything appears to be set up correctly on IIS 7. WAS has been set up to run. The default web site has a net.tcp binding and the application has net.tcp under the enabled protocols. I am including what I think is the important part of the web.config from the host project and also the app.config from the client project I am using to test the service. Hopefully someone can spot my error. Thanks in advance for any help or recommendations that anyone can provide. • Consume a WCF Web Service in Sharepoint Services 3.0

    - by Filip Ekberg
    I've seen this question and since it doesn't answer my question and the topic is fairly miss-leading in my opinion, I feel the urge to ask this again. I have a Sharepoint Webpart that I deploy using Visual Studio Sharepoint Tools 1.2 to a Sharepoint Services 3.0 instance on my local Windows 2003 server. All works great, however, as soon as I add a WCF Service it won't run the code. All I get is a File not found error. I've added this to my Web.Config which is a copy of App.Config <system.serviceModel> <bindings> <basicHttpBinding> <binding name="BasicHttpBinding_Services_xxxService" closeTimeout="00:01:00" openTimeout="00:01:00" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:01:00" allowCookies="false" bypassProxyOnLocal="false" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" maxBufferSize="65536" maxBufferPoolSize="524288" maxReceivedMessageSize="65536" messageEncoding="Mtom" textEncoding="utf-8" transferMode="Buffered" useDefaultWebProxy="true"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="32" maxStringContentLength="8192" maxArrayLength="16384" maxBytesPerRead="4096" maxNameTableCharCount="16384" /> <security mode="None"> <transport clientCredentialType="None" proxyCredentialType="None" realm="" /> <message clientCredentialType="UserName" algorithmSuite="Default" /> </security> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> </bindings> <client> <endpoint address="http://localhost:1196/xxxService.svc" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="BasicHttpBinding_ervices_xxxgService" contract="xxxService.TestService" name="BasicHttpBinding_ServicesxxxService" /> </client> </system.serviceModel> I cannot even do using(var proxy = new xxService.TestService()), If that line is added, the new dll is not added to Sharepoint Services. Any suggestions? I also found this blog post and this forum thread, don't think they are too helpful though.

  • WCF ReliableMessaging method called twice

    - by Brian
Using Fiddler, we see 3 HTTP requests (and matching responses) for each call when: WS-ReliableMessaging is enabled, and, the method returns a large amount of data (17MB) The first HTTP request is a SOAP message with the action "CreateSequence" (presumable to establish the reliable session). The second and third HTTP requests are identical SOAP messages invoking our webservice method. Why are there two identical messages? Here is our config: <system.serviceModel> <client> <endpoint address="http://server/vdir/AccountingService.svc" binding="wsHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="customWsHttpBinding" behaviorConfiguration="LargeServiceBehavior" contract="MyProject.Accounting.IAccountingService" name="BasicHttpBinding_IAccountingService" /> </client> <bindings> <wsHttpBinding> <binding name="customWsHttpBinding" maxReceivedMessageSize="90000000"> <reliableSession enabled="true"/> <security mode="None" /> </binding> </wsHttpBinding> </bindings> <behaviors> <endpointBehaviors> <behavior name="LargeServiceBehavior"> <dataContractSerializer maxItemsInObjectGraph="2147483647"/> </behavior> </endpointBehaviors> </behaviors> </system.serviceModel> Thanks, Brian

  • What is the WCF equivalent?

    - by klausbyskov
I am trying to port some code that is based on WSE3.0 to WCF. Basically, the old code has the following configuration: <microsoft.web.services3> <diagnostics> <trace enabled="true" input="InputTrace.webinfo" output="OutputTrace.webinfo" /> </diagnostics> <tokenIssuer> <statefulSecurityContextToken enabled="false" /> </tokenIssuer> </microsoft.web.services3> When calling the same service through my "Service Reference" I get this error: Request does not contain required Security header My binding looks like this: <basicHttpBinding> <binding name="LegalUnitGetBinding" closeTimeout="00:01:00" openTimeout="00:01:00" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:01:00" allowCookies="false" bypassProxyOnLocal="false" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" maxBufferSize="65536" maxBufferPoolSize="524288" maxReceivedMessageSize="65536" messageEncoding="Text" textEncoding="utf-8" transferMode="Buffered" useDefaultWebProxy="true"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="32" maxStringContentLength="8192" maxArrayLength="16384" maxBytesPerRead="4096" maxNameTableCharCount="16384" /> <security mode="Transport"> </security> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> From what I have understood, the service I'm calling only requires an SSL connection, since it receives a username and password as part of a request parameter. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Self - hosted WCF server and SSL

    Hello, There is self - hosted WCF server (Not IIS), and was generated certificates (on the Win Xp) using command line like makecert.exe -sr CurrentUser -ss My -a sha1 -n CN=SecureClient -sky exchange -pe makecert.exe -sr CurrentUser -ss My -a sha1 -n CN=SecureServer -sky exchange -pe These certificates was added to the server code like this: serviceCred.ServiceCertificate.SetCertificate(StoreLocation.LocalMachine, StoreName.My, X509FindType.FindBySubjectName, "SecureServer"); serviceCred.ClientCertificate.SetCertificate(StoreLocation.LocalMachine, StoreName.My, X509FindType.FindBySubjectName, "SecureClient"); After all previous operation I created simple client to check SSL connection to the server. Client configuration: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <system.serviceModel> <bindings> <basicHttpBinding> <binding name="BasicHttpBinding_IAdminContract" closeTimeout="00:01:00" openTimeout="00:01:00" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:01:00" allowCookies="false" bypassProxyOnLocal="false" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" maxBufferSize="65536" maxBufferPoolSize="524288" maxReceivedMessageSize="65536" messageEncoding="Text" textEncoding="utf-8" transferMode="Buffered" useDefaultWebProxy="true"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="32" maxStringContentLength="8192" maxArrayLength="16384" maxBytesPerRead="4096" maxNameTableCharCount="16384" /> <security mode="TransportCredentialOnly"> <transport clientCredentialType="Basic"/> </security> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> </bindings> <client> <endpoint address="https://myhost:8002/Admin" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="BasicHttpBinding_IAdminContract" contract="Admin.IAdminContract" name="BasicHttpBinding_IAdminContract" /> </client> </system.serviceModel> </configuration> Code: Admin.AdminContractClient client = new AdminContractClient("BasicHttpBinding_IAdminContract"); client.ClientCredentials.UserName.UserName = "user"; client.ClientCredentials.UserName.Password = "pass"; var result = client.ExecuteMethod() During execution I receiving next error: The provided URI scheme 'https' is invalid; expected 'http'.\r\nParameter name: via Question: How to enable ssl for self-hosted server and where should I set - up certificates for client and server ? Thanks.

  • Consuming WCF Web Service

    - by Debby
Hi, I have a simple web service running and I have a console application client consuming the service. I did have issues getting this running and I had been helped by some wonderful people in this community. I have another problem: if I want to call the service from the client in a loop, it doesn't work. It works only for the first time and then it just keeps waiting. Why is this happening and how can I resolve it. The code: namespace WebService { [ServiceContract] public interface IService { [OperationContract(Name="Result")] [WebGet(UriTemplate = "/")] Stream Result(); } public class Service:IService { public Stream Result() { // read a file from the server and return it as stream } } } The client: namespace WebServiceClient { [ServiceContract] public interface IService { [OperationContract(Name="Result")] [WebGet(UriTemplate = "/")] Stream Result(); } } static void Main() { Console.WriteLine("Press enter when the service is available"); Console.ReadLine(); // creating factory HttpChunkingBinding binding = new HttpChunkingBinding(); binding.MaxReceivedMessageSize = 0x7fffffffL; ChannelFactory<WebServiceClient.IService> factory = new ChannelFactory<WebServiceClient.IService> (binding, new EndpointAddress("http://localhost/WebService/Service")); WebServiceClient.IService service = factory.CreateChannel(); for(int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { Stream s = service.Result(); // write this stream to a file and close the stream } //Closing our channel. ((IClientChannel)service).Close(); } Thanks,

  • WCF throttling and emptying the listenBacklog quickly

    - by user1161625
I'm sort of a WCF newbie (inheriting tasks from someone) and I'm trying to better throttle my application. We have a service that sends print jobs to the Windows print queue and it seems that rather than dumping all of the jobs into the queue it holds on to them in the listenBacklog and slowly releases them to the Windows print queue. Here is my throttling behavior: <behavior name="throttling"> <serviceThrottling maxConcurrentCalls="144" maxConcurrentSessions="1168" /> <serviceDebug httpHelpPageEnabled="true" includeExceptionDetailInFaults="true"/> </behavior> I'm using a custom binding for this service also which is here: <customBinding> <binding name="oneWayPrintBinding" receiveTimeout="00:30:00"> <reliableSession maxPendingChannels="16" inactivityTimeout="01:30:00" /> <binaryMessageEncoding> <readerQuotas maxDepth="2147483647" maxStringContentLength="2147483647" maxArrayLength="2147483647" /> </binaryMessageEncoding> <tcpTransport maxReceivedMessageSize="67108864" listenBacklog="1024" /> </binding> </customBinding> Any recommendations would be very helpful. Thank you! -Jim

  • Client calls .asmx, Server exposes WCF endpoint

    - by Lucas B
    We have a client that has been configured to connect to an asmx service. We don't want to ask our customers to update their configuration, but we would like to upgrade our service to use WCF. Does anyone know if WCF supports this? If so, what would the configuration file look like? Our asmx service looks like this: <bindings> <binding name="ATransactionSoap" closeTimeout="00:01:00" openTimeout="00:01:00" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:01:00" allowCookies="false" bypassProxyOnLocal="false" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" maxBufferSize="65536" maxBufferPoolSize="524288" maxReceivedMessageSize="65536" messageEncoding="Text" textEncoding="utf-8" transferMode="Buffered" useDefaultWebProxy="true"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="32" maxStringContentLength="8192" maxArrayLength="16384" maxBytesPerRead="4096" maxNameTableCharCount="16384" /> <security mode="None"> <transport clientCredentialType="None" proxyCredentialType="None" realm="" /> <message clientCredentialType="UserName" algorithmSuite="Default" /> </security> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> </bindings> <client> <endpoint address="http://.../atransaction.asmx" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="ATransactionSoap" contract="ATransactionSoap" name="ATransactionSoap" />

  • Problem adding a behaviors element to my WCF client config

    - by SteveChadbourne
    I'm trying to add a behaviors element to my client config file so I can specify maxItemsInObjectGraph. The error I get is: The element 'system.serviceModel' has invalid child element 'behaviors'. List of possible elements expected: 'bindings, client, extensions'. Here is my config: <configuration> <system.serviceModel> <bindings> <basicHttpBinding> <binding name="BasicHttpBinding_KernService" maxBufferSize="2147483647" maxReceivedMessageSize="2147483647"> <security mode="None" /> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> </bindings> <behaviors> <endpointBehaviors> <behavior name="ServiceViewEventBehavior"> <dataContractSerializer maxItemsInObjectGraph="2147483647"/> </behavior> </endpointBehaviors> </behaviors> <client> <endpoint address="http://localhost/KernMobile.WCF/KernService.svc" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="BasicHttpBinding_KernService" contract="KernWcfService.KernService" name="BasicHttpBinding_KernService" behaviorConfiguration="ServiceViewEventBehavior" /> </client> </system.serviceModel> </configuration> It's also complaining about the behaviorConfiguration attribute in the endpoint element. Any ideas? .Net 4.0 BTW.

  • WCF Multiple Service Configuration Issue

Scenario Ignoring that fact that some of the settings might be wrong and inconsistent. Why does the program fail to compile when I try and put these 2 separate configurations for WCF Services into the same APP.CONFIG file? • Limiting calls to WCF services from BizTalk

    - by IntegrationOverload
** WORK IN PROGRESS ** This is just a placeholder for the full article that is in progress. The problem My BTS solution was receiving thousands of messages at once. After processing by BTS I needed to send them on via one of several WCF services depending on the message content. The problem is that due to the asynchronous nature of BizTalk the WCF services were getting hammered and could not cope with the load. Note: It is possible to limit the SOAP calls in the BtsNtSvc.exe.Config file but that does not have the desired results for Net-TCP WCF services. The solution So I created a new MessageType for the messages in question and posted them to the BTS messaeg box. This schema included the URL they were being sent to as a promoted property. I then subscribed to the message type from a new orchestraton (that does just the WCF send) using the URL as a correlation ID. This created a singleton orchestraton that was instantiated when the first message hit the message box. It then waits for further messages with the same correlation ID and type and processs them one at a time using a loop shape with a timer (A pretty standard pattern for processing related messages) Image to go here This limits the number of calls to the individual WCF services to 1. Which is a good start but the service can handle more than that and I didn't want to create a bottleneck. So I then constructed the Correlation ID using the URL concatinated with a random number between 1 and 10. This makes 10 possible correlation IDs per URL and so 10 instances of the singleton Orchestration per WCF service. Just what I needed and the upper random number is a configuration value in SSO so I can change the maximum connections without touching the code.

  • WCF net.tcp windows service - call duration and calls outstanding increases over time

    - by Brook
I have a windows service which uses the ServiceHost class to host a WCF Service using the net.tcp binding. I have done some tweaking to the config to throttle sessions as well as number of connections, but it seems that every once in a while my "Calls outstanding" and "Call duration" shoot up and stay up in perfmon. It seems to me I have a leak somewhere, but the code I have is all fairly minimal, I'm relying on ServiceHost to handle the details. Here's how I start my service ServiceHost host = new ServiceHost(type); host.Faulted+=new EventHandler(Faulted); host.Open(); My Faulted event just does the following (more or less, logging etc removed) if (host.State == CommunicationState.Faulted) { host.Abort(); } else { host.Close(); } host = new ServiceHost(type); host.Faulted+=new EventHandler(Faulted); host.Open(); Here's some snippets from my app.config to show some of the things I've tried <runtime> <gcConcurrent enabled="true" /> <generatePublisherEvidence enabled="false" /> </runtime> ......... <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior name="Throttled"> <serviceThrottling maxConcurrentCalls="300" maxConcurrentSessions="300" maxConcurrentInstances="300" /> .......... <services> <service name="MyService" behaviorConfiguration="Throttled"> <endpoint address="net.tcp://localhost:49001/MyService" binding="netTcpBinding" bindingConfiguration="Tcp" contract="IMyService"> </endpoint> </service> </services> .......... <netTcpBinding> <binding name="Tcp" openTimeout="00:00:10" closeTimeout="00:00:10" portSharingEnabled="true" receiveTimeout="00:5:00" sendTimeout="00:5:00" hostNameComparisonMode="WeakWildcard" listenBacklog="1000" maxConnections="1000"> <reliableSession enabled="false"/> <security mode="None"/> </binding> </netTcpBinding> .......... <!--for my diagnostics--> <diagnostics performanceCounters="ServiceOnly" wmiProviderEnabled="true" /> There's obviously some resource getting tied up, but I thought I covered everything with my config. I'm only getting about ~150 clients so I don't think I'm coming up against my "300" limit. "Calls per second" stays constant at anywhere from 2-5 calls per second. The service will run for hours and hours with 0-2 "calls outstanding" and very low "call duration" and then eventually it will shoot up to 30 calls oustanding and 20s call duration. Any tips on what might be causing my "calls outstanding" and "call duration" to spike? Where am I leaking? Point me in the right direction?

  • .NET Web Service (asmx) Timeout Problem

    - by Barry Fandango
I'm connecting to a vendor-supplied web ASMX service and sending a set of data over the wire. My first attempt hit the 1 minute timeout that Visual Studio throws in by default in the app.config file when you add a service reference to a project. I increased it to 10 minutes, another timeout. 1 hour, another timeout: Error: System.TimeoutException: The request channel timed out while waiting for a reply after 00:59:59.6874880. Increase the timeout value passed to the call to Request or increase the SendTimeout value on the Binding. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout. ---> System.TimeoutE xception: The HTTP request to 'http://servername/servicename.asmx' has exceeded the allotted timeout of 01:00:00. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout. ---> System.Net.WebExcept ion: The operation has timed out at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() [... lengthly stacktrace follows] I contacted the vendor. They confirmed the call may take over an hour (don't ask, they are the bane of my existence.) I increased the timeout to 10 hours to be on the safe side. However the web service call continues to time out at 1 hour. The relevant app.config section now looks like this: <basicHttpBinding> <binding name="BindingName" closeTimeout="10:00:00" openTimeout="10:00:00" receiveTimeout="10:00:00" sendTimeout="10:00:00" allowCookies="false" bypassProxyOnLocal="false" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" maxBufferSize="2147483647" maxBufferPoolSize="524288" maxReceivedMessageSize="2147483647" messageEncoding="Text" textEncoding="utf-8" transferMode="Buffered" useDefaultWebProxy="true"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="32" maxStringContentLength="8192" maxArrayLength="2147483647" maxBytesPerRead="4096" maxNameTableCharCount="16384" /> <security mode="None"> <transport clientCredentialType="None" proxyCredentialType="None" realm="" /> <message clientCredentialType="UserName" algorithmSuite="Default" /> </security> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> Pretty absurd, but regardless the timeout is still kicking in at 1 hour. Unfortunately every change takes at least an additional hour to test. Is there some internal limit that I'm bumping into - another timeout setting to be changed somewhere? All changes to these settings up to one hour had the expected effect. Thanks for any help you can provide!

  • Does GoDaddy supports RESTful services via WCF

    - by Amir Naor
After deploying a WCF RESTful service that i created using the REST started kit, i got several errors that i managed to solve following this post: http://www.edoverip.com/edoverip/index.php/2009/01/30/running-wcf-on-godaddy Now i'm stuck with this error: IIS specified authentication schemes 'Basic, Anonymous', but the binding only supports specification of exactly one authentication scheme. Valid authentication schemes are Digest, Negotiate, NTLM, Basic, or Anonymous. Change the IIS settings so that only a single authentication scheme is used I saw that others got to this point without a solution. GoDaddy support dont know nothing. Is it possible at all? Are there any web hosting services that you know that support that?
